Cons:The advertised "superior" room for which we pre-paid almost $400 a night for 6 nights was on the first floor with a walking path right next to the window, so there was no privacy at all. The safe did not work. The towels were fryed at the ends and some had stains. After our complaint, the manager of duty first lied that there were no rooms available. After the threat that we would request money return and move to another hotel, he suddenly discovered a premier room available two nights later, but requested that we check out from the current room by 11am and only check into the new one after 4pm, being for 5 hrs roomless. Only the next day the new manager on duty fixed these issues and transferred us to the room in a normal way and with apologies. The breakfast is mediocre to put it mildly, many motels have better ones. All in all, they charged these enormous prices only since they could - the location was great.

Cons:The room was small and the bathroom was extremely small. And our back patio was above the recreation/ game room so it was noisy.

Pros:Centrally located on main Banff Ave. Bus service available to hot springs.
Cons:There was a very slight small nose of a fans or something running at night. It took a little investigation to figure out the bus schedule to the Hot Springs etc.

Pros:Good location very friendly staff. The steam room was good bed was pretty good. I want to list more stuff but i cant think of anything else. The underground parking was great.
Cons:Room was way to hot and was not able to cool it down, Went to have a dip in the hot tub.. and really it should be called a cold tub i have been in warmer pools. The breakfast was ok bacon was under cooked and was all stuck together. They need more fruit.

Pros:The Ptarmigan Inn is located right in Downtown Banff within a block of the "Downtown strip" and has great underground parking so you don't have to really venture outside into any bad weather.
Cons:What I was not impressed with and that was not on the travel web site when I selected my room is that a large number of their rooms have no external window and only look-out onto one of two interior courtyards. This can be ok if you are not on the main floor, but the room I received was a main-floor room and we could not keep our blinds open because of the constant stream of people walking by a few feet from our window. Another annoyance is that our room did not have ANY heating controls and was very warm. This must be a known issue with this room as the hotel also equipped it with a desk fan. This is NOT the kind of room I would expect from a hotel billing itself as a 3 or 4 star accommodation and charging $300+ for the night.

Pros:Location.
Cons:The room was below standard. There was dust on the rug behind the door, the drain was plugged in the bathroom tub, the shower fixture needs to be replaced. In my opinion, the hotel is showing it's age. Serious consideration should be given to a complete renovation. I have stayed here before but this time was disappointing.

Pros:Construction of building right outside our window/balcony. Very loud. Bed uncomfortable. Went to check out and the guy at desk told us we didn't pay even though I had proof in an email. Told me it was never paid or registering in there computer. Had to go to visa to prove that I had paid.
Cons:Close to all everything. Free parking. Breakfast was great.
