Pros: very nice breakfast cooked to your liking pleasant staff beautifully gardens. cosy bed room
7,5 Good
Pros: Location and style
Cons: Noisy - we were woken at 6 by other guests taking part in a cycling event. Staff were either very good or very bad depending on which one was serving. Dinner was average. The whole place needs better management
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. peaceful surroundings. Absolutely beautiful hotel.
Cons: Food was nice but not excellent.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Location and breakfast was good.
Cons: The evening meal was not up to standard. Service was poor, champagne not cold, main courses brought after long wait and before starters, food was not very good . We did tell the hotel and they said they would tell management but then we got standard e mail with satisfaction questionnaire so it was obvious nothing had been reported to management. We have been before and really enjoyed it but now it looks like it is existing on past reputation. Also the shower didn’t work properly and generally not up to previous standards.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location. Nice room (we had a 'Good' room'), quite compact but clean, comfortable and quiet. Lovely characterful building. Garden really nice place to relax on a sunny day. Breakfast good, but nothing special.

Pros: Wonderful location, right in the middle of picturesque and historic Burford. Great combination of traditional coaching inn and contemporary comfort. Food (dinner with friends and then breakfast) was fantastic and best of all the staff and management could not have done more or been more helpful. Great value!!!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location right on the high street. Staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was delicious, and the bar downstairs has a really nice atmosphere.
Cons: Rooms are quite small, which is to be expected in a building of this age.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very welcoming, friendly staff. Got a nice feeling about the place, despite this being just a brief stay (we were attending a wedding reception close by). Superb breakfast, and I appreciated the fact that the chef had noticed my missing sausage (I hadn't!), and had it brought out to me with her apologies :) Smallish room (which we were aware of when booking), but very comfortable and beautifully furnished / equipped. I will recommend to others - many thanks.
Cons: Very compact bathroom (though still OK to use).
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything. Room, facilities, staff, food all A+. Very highly recommended.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness and cleanliness

Pros: Breakfast was good, although we couldn't have breakfast the first morning as we had to be away early but they made us some sandwiches s owe could take them with us. Nice touch.
Cons: We weren't there that long so couldn't really sample all of the Highway Inn which was a shame, maybe next year!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was far bigger than the pictures make it look. V cosy and warm.
Cons: The road outside was soooooo noisy and we were woken up at 6 with buses and lorries trundling through. A room at the back of the building would have been preferable.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely friendly staff. Free parking. Great food and service. Would definitely recommend it to others.
Cons: As usual there was limited tea coffee and milk. But we asked for more milk and got it straight away.
7,5 Good

9,5 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent, really comfy bed, spacious bathroom and a powerful lovely shower. Breakfast was good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Perfect location for local pubs and Blenheim palace.
Cons: The only thing to make it better given it was such a hot day/night would have been more and colder water, and perhaps a lighter duvet, but we didn’t ask so maybe that would have been an option. Otherwise flawless.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere and position. Charming hosts.
Cons: The room 12 en suite bathroom needs the drains serviced/cleared - run away was slow. Not a big issue but needs attention.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Large room with wonderful shower. It took a while to warm up but was well worth the wait.
Cons: Mattress was a bit squashy but I suppose that is personal taste.
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Location was excellent
Cons: Breakfast was well below par it should have been excellent for the price but clearly wasn't which is a real shame

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were comfortable and clean
5,8 Okay
Pros: Staff
Cons: Noise from road Overly hot room
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I thought the location for our visit was superb. The staff are a really friendly bunch, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was a good size.
Cons: There isn't much to say on this answer as I have no complaints. I suppose having an extract in the bathroom would have made a less steamy affair, but opening the window sufficed.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, excellent staff and very good breakfast.
Cons: Certain areas could receive a bit of TLC.
Swan Inn - Burford - Building

R2 195+
Overview Reviews
This charming hotel can be found in Burford. Travellers will enjoy a peaceful and calm stay on the premises, as it counts with a total of 11bedrooms. This accommodation does not accept pets.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely quaint Inn with peaceful outlook, very comfortable bed & staff very friendly and helpful
Cons: Not enough shelving in bathroom for toilet bags. A luggage rack would also be helpful
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Comfy bed and bed linen. Wonderfully peaceful at night.
Cons: Whilst the food was very good the menu wasn’t varied enough for 3 consecutive nights.
6,8 Good
Pros: Clean room . Large bed.
Cons: Did not get the room we booked for which was "River view" Rude staff . Flies in breakfast room ( many) AND in shared yoghurt bowl at breakfast time.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: This Hotel is charming, such a lovely room and the location is perfect, so quiet. The room I stayed in had every comfort you would expect. spacious and comfortable, although they could do with an arm chair to relax in and enjoy the views.
Cons: The staff are very attentive, but as I had dinner with a friend, during our meal we were asked if there would be two for breakfast, which seemed odd, the meal was quite expensive and was all put on my room bill, assuming that my friend would now be staying the night, which he wasn't it was quiet embarrassing when he had to remove it from my bill and divide it between us. I had the Lamb, which was very fatty, I mentioned this and was told all lamb is fatty!
7,5 Good
Pros: Beautiful location; welcoming staff; delicious food
Cons: The noise from the pipes in the bedroom. Every time someone in another room ran a tap or flushed the toilet we heard the pipes running (and not quietly! - very glad no-one had a late night/early morning shower!!) Also, communication in the rooms could be better/more accurate. No mention of Wi-fi (which was free and with no log-in required, but not found for a while because no reference) and notes stated that OS maps were available to borrow from the bar - but this was not the case (although good pamphlet on local circular walks)
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Luxurious. Lovely breakfast.
Cons: Big spider in room!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and friendly place in the countryside, spacious room and very well equipped Very good table.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Initial impression was overtaken by the realization that the accommodation was not in the pub, but a separate building across the road. Compact, clean and if a high standard.. Food was excellent - with a good selection of wines and local cheeses.. Garden area very welcoming in the late evening.. In short we loved our stay and would highly recommend..
Cons: Nothing..
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rural setting by a stream and with Bantam chickens strolling through the garden - even had the Cockerel crowing and a chick trying to hop in through the open window in our room in the Stable Block. Our room was clean and spacious. Complimentary tea and coffee with a coffee-pod machine were provided but a hiccup - no milk or coffee pods but manager rectified this when mentioned. Fantastic Continental and Cooked choice at Breakfast (Eggs Benedict was lovely) and Evening Meal menu.
Cons: However, the shower was "over the bath" and a bit tricky for the less-mobile. A limited Vegetarian/Vegan choice. Not all Vegetarians eat fish, eggs etc. - some border on being Vegan, but not quite!
The Lamb Inn - Burford - Bedroom

With a stay at The Lamb Inn in Burford, you'll be in the suburbs, within a 15-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and quiet.
Cons: The water pressure in our shower was very weak.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay, the staff and facilities were excellent and the location superb. It was nice to be able to choose where you wanted to eat, eg in the restaurant, the bar, the sitting rooms, the garden or your own room. Breakfast was served beautifully by very professional staff. The room was tastefully decorated and the furnishings were in keeping with the style of the inn.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Parts of the Lamb date back to the early 15th century. Originally a row of weavers' cottages. Breakfast was very good with quality produce and a good choice on the menu. Service from all the staff was of a high standard. Aioibhinn ( pronounced Ayveen ) on reception was a ray of sunshine. The gardens with seating are excellent. Even in the gardens there is waiter service. Enjoy the sun and let the food and drink come to you.
Cons: Coming away so soon. Hotel does not have it's own car park so parking close to hotel at busy times can be hit and miss. Still worth visiting. Wherever you park it is a pleasant walk to the hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Located centrally excellent rooms and helpful staff, lovely garden and not forgetting the great restaurant
Cons: Couldn’t fault it,

6,7 Good
Pros: OPen fires and relaxed atmosphere
Cons: en-suite shower and toilet were cramped. Shower temperature knob fell off!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, quiet hotel in the old style with excellent food, log fires and unobtrusive service.
7,7 Good
Pros: charming location, very beautiful building, exellent service
7,0 Good
Pros: Relaxing atmosphere and style was a mix of a good hotel and an excellent inn.Staff at all levels friendly/professional/efficient/attentive and welcoming.Meals in bars/lounge were off a high standard. Room large and easily accessed for handicapped guests/
Cons: 4 Log fires great, but all needed to have their chimneys swept! Normal wood fire aroma spoilt by visible smoke that attached to clothes/hair. This was one of several weaknesses that indicated lack of maintenance/checks by local or Cotswold Inns and Hotel management. Gratuity added to restaurant bill without previous advice and bathroom had no bath only a shower -this was a superior room but it had the smallest bathroom that could be designed. Limited clothes hanging space(coat hooks behind doors would have helped)
7,7 Good
Pros: Relaxing
4,4 Okay
Pros:
Cons: There appeared to be little if any supervision of the staff. The staff generally seemed to be unhappy about working there. This was expressed by their attitude.

Pros: The room - at the end of the walk-through - was just fine. Breakfast was excellent. The young lady who served us - Rebecca - was a delight. A pleasure to chat with.
Cons: The bedroom lighting. One bedside lamp did not function consistently.
6,8 Good
Pros: the food is excellent but it takes such an age to get staff and they were not busy.they are excellent for welcoming dogs
Cons: dreadful waiting time for drinks etc..had to ask twice.had to ask twice for menus..had to ask twice for napkins..I asked if they were short staff..the waiter replied....no I am just feeling tired!!!! 2 people came for a drink and as no staff in bar they walked out.. we were given a 20% reduction on our meal for having to wait.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant staff on arrival who made me feel most welcome, they even gave a room upgrade free of charge.
Cons: Early morning noise (around 5:30 am onwards) which I can only assume came from a laundry area and proceeded to continue for a couple of hours.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: The room, the quiet, the comfortable bed, the excellent breakfast (even though I only ate it once), the accommodating staff (thank you for my early morning latte on the patio).
Cons: Turning off the patio lights around 11 p.m. (midnight?)..... I couldn't have my late night read outside.... a small thing, but important for me. It would have been good to have a facecloth included with the room's linens.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: A great location right in the centre of town. A really historic building so expect low ceilings and creaks but clean and comfortable. A lovely breakfast with loads of choice and an ideal spot for walking or exploring locally.
Cons: Bathroom decor definitely needs an upgrade - all facilities fine and working and was clean but tired.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed in Burford many times & at the Bull more than once. Love coming here & will be back soon.
6,3 Good
Pros: The location was excellent. Burford is beautiful. We were out too early to have breakfast the first day but when we did it was fine, although the sausages could have been cooked more. The staff are very nice and very friendly.
Cons: We stayed in 'Cromwell' room 3. The room was large but very dark, facing the street and the bed was not comfortable. Also, please upgrade your pillows they are very hard.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Great location and good value for money for the area. Breakfast was very good.
Cons: The room was very warm; however a fan was provided.
7,0 Good
Pros: Sky tv in the room.
Cons: Our room ,number 8 ,was noisy due to their kitchen extractor outside our window.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: It’s not every day that you can stay in a place built in 1478. Despite the age, the amenities are up to date. Food was excellent. And the staff outstanding. They added to the charm and enjoyment of the stay
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful! Had a great time there.

7,0 Good
Cons: Rude reception lady when asking about parking.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, right in the centre of Woodstock and only 5 minutes walk from Blenheim Palace. We had a meal in the evening there and the food was piping hot and very good quality. The breakfast was also very good. It was a nice room and the bed was comfortable. .
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value considering location. Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean, comfortable rooms in an old pub. Quality food presented well from an adequate menu. Good breakfast included. Walking distance from Blenheim Palace.
Cons: Only booked for one night but will certainly stay again nearer Christmas.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely people good breakfast
5,5 Okay
Pros: The location and breakfast were good.
Cons: The room was dark and dreary. It was a hot day and the small fan was very noisy, keeping us awake. The bed was small and the mattress worn. The shower screen did not close from the inside. Tissue box was empty and the lighting poor. Expensive for what it was.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved having the pub below. The site was perfect for our Blenheim Palace excursion. All the staff were top notch; considerate, efficient, and pro-active.
Cons: Everything was grand but the heat... Mother Nature turned up her charm for us while there. But, lucky for us, the facility provided a fan. They were thinking!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Quaint hotel, friendly staff, all good.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location near Blenheim palace
Cons: Nothing
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Slap bang in the middle of Woodstock, and a 10 minute walk from Blenheim Palace. Very friendly and helpful staff. The accommodation is not cheap, but there is limited space in Woodstock so all places are expensive. The evening meal was very good value for money, and we spent a lovely evening in the beer garden sampling the excellent selection of beer.
Cons: Room was quite dear, but then everywhere in Woodstock is expensive.

8,7 Excellent (571 reviews)
R1 768+
Overview Reviews
Located in Woodstock, The Blenheim Buttery is within a 15-minute drive of Blenheim Palace and University of Oxford.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The Buttery's location was excellent and the staff were very, very good - could not have been more helpful explaining to us where to park and how to get to the Country life show..
Cons: I don't think the room and breakfast warranted £120 a night. We travel around the country quite extensively. The bathroom was tiny, absolutely tiny! You couldn't get in it without squeezing round the door and once inside it was too small. They added a premium rate because of the popularity at the time re the Country Life show at Blenheim Palace. A lovely, lovely village though absolutely beautiful.
4,0 Okay
Pros: We were there when the weather was extremely hot and thankfully a fan had been provided in the room.
Cons: The room that we were allocated was not at all similar to those photographed on the website. It was a 'standard' double but was very small and the bathroom tiny. The toilet was not clean and the drain missing from the bason.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Just very good value for money
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcoming staff & great breakfast choice. We had a fan in our room on a very hot day! The Jasmine filled Courtyard. Brilliant location to be able to walk to Blenheim.
Cons: The room could have done with a dressing table... Would have been more useful than two armchairs.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and the staff friendly. It was in a marvellous position for Blenheim palace which is why we went
Cons: My sofa bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. No vegetarian option at breakfast eg. Veggi sausage
9,5 Excellent
Pros: the building , the location to Blenheim palace which I was there to visit , and the area of Woodstock , with its buildings and array of places to eat and drink.
Cons: room wasn't massive but acceptable . shower was a bit small for me. 16 st.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation is fantastic we couldn't fault it, the breakfast was excellent all the staff were friendly. The buses were a 5 minute walk away. We specifically stayed in Woodstock as we went to the pop up theatre in the grounds of Blenheim worth going to if you like Shakespeare. The coffee shops are excellent with so many yummy cakes and a Coop is 5 minutes down the road and open till 10'oclock. There were even armchairs in our room which are always nice to come back to after a day in Oxford. I would totally recommend the accommodation to anyone.
Cons: it was all good no down sides at all.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: On early arrival before a special party we needed to change. We were allowed to use our booked room to do so before they had finished. Laura arranged this for us within minutes, we thank her so much as we had just had a long journey up from Dorset. The room was lovely, the bed exceptionally comfy. Lovely bedding and towels. Food and service perfect. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful location. And so close to our party at Blenheim Palace. What more could we ask for. We will highly recommend you to anyone. Karen and Duncan Lewis. Thank you.
Cons: We couldn’t fault anything at all.

Cons: Bins near bedroom and noise from them late evening and morning wasn't great .
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The bedrooms are well designed and aesthetically pleasing. The property is right in the centre of the town with a bus stop with busses to Oxford outside the door.
Cons: Would have liked more variety for breakfast - perhaps yoghurt, seasonal fruit and good bread other than sliced.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel. Friendly staff, great location and superb breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very clean
Cons: It’s quirky
6,8 Good
Pros: Good location. Stylish pub/restaurant.
Cons: Was woken up early by the delivery early. Lots of loud banging before 08.00.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great. Room was nice.
Cons: I don't like to say negatives, as there were a lot of positives, but here goes (sorry!) The air con in the room kept making a buzzing noise, every 5 minutes, so kept me awake most of the night. I did'nt get hardly any sleep because of this. It was a little noisy outside in the courtyard (where our room overlooked) as people were still drinking out there when we went to bed at 11.30pm. The blinds on the window didn't fit properly and the light shone through both sides. The bath was high and hard to step out of, maybe a handle to support yourself would have helped The cost of the rooms seem very high, compared to other hotels we have stayed in.

Pros: The staff was very helpful in advice about travel plans. My room was in another building with steep stairs, but it had lots of quaint charm.
Cons: The bath tub water control was high on the wall, which meant I had to stand up from my soak to turn off the spigot.

Pros: Excellent location for Blenheim Palace. Helpful and friendly staff

Cons: Very warm room as air con had broken down
6,8 Good
Pros: location great for Blenheim palace visit. Young lady who served us at breakfast was very pleasant.
Cons: No table reservation had been made which as a resident of the hotel I would naturally expect. We could not have a reservation before 8 pm when we wanted to eat earlier and then no outside table was available as open to the public. Only alternate was to eat in dining room with only 2 other tables taken and with no atmosphere. We ate in pub across the road which was much better.

Pros: Lovely staff n hotel walking distance to the palace and loved the gin bar
Cons: The stairs
7,0 Good
Pros: breakfast excellent and receptio staff at checkout superb
Cons: Management staff attitude in evening. They had a large party in the restaurant and and made it very clear they didn"t want anyone else even though we were residents! As a result a number of residents were eating in other restaurants. Room had no aircon...it was a suite! Third bed was a very uncomfortable sofa bed and my son had a poor nights sleep

Cons: The floor in our room sloped very badly which may it uncomfortable to walk around

6,8 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Convenient location for cotswolds. Looks like place is being upgraded.
Cons: Room was a bit tired. Needs a makeover. Bar prices a bit steep. 2 codgers at the end of the bar effing and blindin even though families were seated nearby. Bar staff more intent in sorting out breakfast tables than serving.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very welcoming and excellent standard of food with a varied menu to suit all tastes.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and the food was great. Very good choice of music!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying in an Inn with so much charm. Our room was in the old stables, the inn was decorated tastefully from years gone by, well maintained. The staff were polite and worked well together as a team. There was a staff shortage the first night we stayed, however they kept apologising for the delay from the kitchen. John our host spoke to all the guests and made sure they were looked after. I actually overheard him thanking and praising his staff for handling the situation well. The food was fantastic (both in the restaurant and a lovely English breakfast),the selection of music was very good and played at the right level. The best breakfast we had for our 2 months of travel. The bed was very comfortable in a good size room. There was also an attractive garden area to eat and relax. We would stay here again if ever in the same area again.
Cons: If there was anything wrong, it was over shadowed by all the good.
7,5 Good
Pros: Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Beer and wine also very good.
Cons: Service at breakfast could have been better and the road was very noisy throughout the night. When booking we didn't realise the road was so close.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Location was great for our needs. We used it as a base for cycling. Very clean and lovely relaxed atmosphere, although a bit too relaxed in the restaurant. Food was excellent!
Cons: No extra toilet paper, so we ran out in the morning! Milk in the room wasn’t topped up, so we ran out despite being promised some would be brought up to us. Shower temperature wasn’t consistent.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location on A40, plenty of parking. Warm welcome and able to check in early. Wonderful evening meal with good service. Breakfast, good choice and all well cooked. Very good service. All the team were very helpful and pleasant. Would definitely recommend

Pros: Food, both breakfast and evening meal were well cooked and presented. Although comfortable, I would say that the décor is a little tired and could do with a spot of tlc. Staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind. All was as expected.

Cons: Advertised as being in Woodstock but is actually 2 miles outside. It’s a 40 walk into Woodstock.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was good. We didn't have time to linger over breakfast, but we felt we could have asked for more coffee and toast and stayed longer.
Cons: I'm not a lover of stairs and if I was given the choice I would have opted for a ground floor room. This is of course not a criticism, but an observation.

Pros: enjoyed dinner and breakfast and friendlyness of the manager and staff - enjoyed the open fire place - hotel was easy to find
Cons: located a little too far out of Woodstock which meant we had to use the car to visit Windsor central as opposed to leaving the car and walking we didn't realise this at the time of booking - also free WIFI only worked in the bar area not in your room - no real problem but just a little inconvenient

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great Location, like being in Midsummer without the Murders, cannot begin to say how nice the area around the hotel is ,the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you , ate in the hotel slightly limited menu ,but the food was really good, bar Area really nice and plenty of safe parking, would definitely stay again
Cons: Absolutely Nothing, maybe could have served breakfast a bit quicker.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location, beautiful building.
Cons: Annoying showers. Menu not very inspiring and food very average. Carbonara was very salty. Breakfast a bit fussy, no self-serve buffet for cereals and juices, all could be simpler, with less, pots and plastic - individually wrapped sugar cubes - really?????
6,8 Good
Pros: Old inn with character. Good location.
Cons: Attention to detail - glasses/ crockery not collected frequently enough from outside tables resulting in them being a magnet for wasps. Bathroom towel rail leaked during the night and bath/ shower didn’t drain properly. Room small with step down to bathroom. Dinner was not good, wrong starter served resulting in one of the party finishing before the other had started. Main course pan fried plaice was virtually inedible due to many individual bones. Breakfast poor value with little choice of cereals or fruit. Full English breakfast was quite small for the price.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Nice location
Cons: Some room are too noisy

Pros: Beautiful cottage lovely bedrooms and ensuites.Breakfast was amazing .Lovely village .Ideal for small child Good place to be with family for a birthday treat. Location brilliant for Witney and Cotswold Wildlife Park

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Spa was nice, location is lovely.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Very cute building and grounds. Staff were welcoming and accommodated a late check in caused by a delayed flight. Good location and very unique and cool rooms.
Cons: Bed was uncomfortable. Great sheets, but the it was a distinctly crowned set of twins mattresses.
6,7 Good
Pros: The lovely village location and splendid grounds, the roaring fires and tasteful country house feel.
Cons: The restaurant was a little disorganised. Four people took our orders and served us and the co-ordination was lacking and the service was therefore slow. Why not allocate given tables to specific waiting staff?
5,3 Okay
Pros: The hotel grounds and local area
Cons: The fact they have a two tier system where guests staying at the Old Swan get dining reservation preferences and their own roped off lounge area that the Minster guests cannot use
4,3 Okay
Pros: Character hotel.
Cons: Standard room very small, we stayed in the barn conversion annexe, room was very small with single glazed window which was very noisy. It felt as if we were staying in a beach hut. There was a noise in the pipes which kept us awake most of the night. Also we had to travel to a nearby pub as the restaurant(which is another pub a minute) away was full, priority to guests with bb and e meal.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first room was extremely hot, we spoke to reception who offered us another room without hesitation. The restaurant is excellent both for breakfast & dinner. After eating there the first night we definitely wanted to on our second night but forgot to book. So after a day out and about came back to hear it was fully booked being Saturday. However the staff were brilliant and said they would manage to squeeze us in and we weren't disappointed, the steak was perfect along with everything else! Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and setting. Will definitely go back.
4,0 Okay
Pros: I liked the helpful staff in the restaurant who worked extremely hard on the sturday evening of our stay.
Cons: I stayed in room 121 which was awful and i have complained personally to Diane Cornish the sales manager and i have yet to have the courtesy of a reply to my comments.
3,2 Mediocre
Pros: Setting and location excellent. Public rooms nice
Cons: Scandinavian type rooms (118) were very very small. Little wardrobe and storage space. Walls were paper thin. We could hear neighbours even when they were whispering and using bathroom! Flight path from nearby RAF base. No double galzing. It was clear the accommodation was geared to single people on conferences/workshops. Massive disappointmant!

Pros: The reception and cleaning staff were extremely friendly and welcoming The setting is delightful and the food in the restaurant was very good.

5,0 Okay
Pros: The location was perfect fro Blenhaim Palace.
Cons: At £278 plus £10 parking fee it should offer far more than it delivered. The room was small and humid, with no A/C nor through breeze - maintenance was poor (bath/shower seal dirty and broken; cracked paint on sills and walls; cobwebs everywhere, dirt and dust on surfaces, fly droppings on windows and sills. The bed was comfortable but small - with the heat we did not have a good night sleep. Restaurant was poor - boasted 2 Rosettes - but the menu was limited and uninteresting - my wife had bresaola, which was just put on a plate with rocket and parmesan on top and then had Trout of the Day, which I had cooked the exact same dish last week, so it was not special. I had the risotto as did not fancy anything from the limited menu (only 6 items from memory including 2 steaks, fish and chips, catch of day - no specials done save for a soup and catch of day) - risotto was ok, walnut and cheese gave some flavour but did not get to the good level, Wine list was limited and uninteresting - asked for 2 x Kir Royale and was told the bar was small and they could not do them - so we settled for water to complement the rest of the meal - believe we paid a £30 each supplement to include dinner and for £60 excluding drink this was just not worthy. Breakfast was ok , again I believe there is a £30 supplement included in price for this and for that price the buffet and quality was not good - congealed eggs and wasps in the honey and rock hard bread were just not up to standard. Overall the price did not match the facilities offered and on our special occasion we were glad for and turned to the location, local cafes and the Palace to save the weekend. Disappointed the Bear is in no way the special destination

Pros: Location, staff, food and rooms
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were very helpful and gave us a ground floor cottage room as requested for my partner . The room was lovely and my stay with the bear was very nice I will be returning in December .
Cons: The price of the breakfast was a lot at £18 .. so we ate at the the Blenheim buttery which was an impressive £5 and very delicious .

Pros: Everything!
6,0 Good
Pros: Lovely room. Very comfortable and cosy with a good bed and plenty of hot water. Friendly Head lady on at breakfast. Plenty of gluten free options.
Cons: Very slow breakfast. Waited along time for the breakfast to arrive. Not very comfortable restaurant or bar area. No evening menu until the restaurant opened at 1900 and then very limited choice.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent
Cons: The bar and restaurant staff were poor The menu included items such as fish and chips and burgers which are not in keeping with a hotel of this class The wine list was prohibit ably expensive especially with burgers! There were very few reasonably priced wines One guest was heard to observe that it was all a bit like Fawlty Towers And to pay £10 per night to park the car was sheer robbery
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The bar staff were great and the hotel is very nice and in a great location, so handy for wondering around Woodstock and close to Blenheim Palace
Cons: The en-suite was a little small, no air conditioning, check in was a little strange with regards payment for the room!

Pros: The room was clean comfortable and surprisingly modern, refurbished sympathetically. The bed was very comfortable with quality linen. Very friendly welcome and old fashioned customer service standards
6,8 Good
Pros: Clean, good location
Cons: Reception staff and restaurant menu. Menu very basic and lacked inspiration. Puzzled before we arrived as to why no menu available on line. Highly unusual. Now we know why. Dined elsewhere in one of the many local pubs. Breakfast actually nice and of good value

Pros: An ideal location from which to explore the Cotswolds. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable and everything was provided in accordance with the specifications. The bar and lounge were very pleasant, and the breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cooked food.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Location is good for Burford and parking is easy.
Cons: Incredibly expensive for what you get. Hairs all over bed and bathroom when we arrived. Everything very tired and in need of an update. Breakfast is unexciting as well for the price, better to save your money and enjoy one of the cafes in the high street. Bedroom looked out on roundabout which meant it was very noisy and we had a floodlight directed at our bedroom window so not a particularly restful evening.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff making us feel well taken care of.
Cons: On a busy street
4,3 Okay
Cons: Id booked 3 rooms, 2 twin rooms next to each other in the Annexe, 1 kingsize in the hotel. Hotel decided to change my booking without telling me so when we arrived, I was told 2 (1 twin and 1 king) were in the hotel, 1 (twin) in the annexe. Annexe entrance was very dirty, communal stairs very tired, twin room tiny and hot (was above the laundry room). Manager wasn't overly concerned even though I explained this meant my less abled sister was alone in the annexe and he wouldn't make any changes. 2 of the rooms very noisy at night as the hotel sits on a roundabout and 2 rooms didn't have secondary glazing. We'd booked dinner in the restaurant - the restaurant doesn't appear to open at night so this meant we sat in the hotel pub so don't dress up! Vegetarian main options very limited - salad, 1 pizza or shepherdless pie. Staff were very inflexible so we were over charged on our meals as kids meal deal contained ice cream, they wanted to add a brownie and we were charged full adult price in addition to full price on childs meal deal so hence we paid twice for pudding. Manager wouldn't alter the price.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. The staff were relaxed and friendly. Staff very obliging, providing alternate children's evening meal not on the kid's menu. Great to have a full length mirror in the room, and an iron and ironing board provided. Plenty of electric sockets too.
Cons: An extra pillow in the room would have been appreciated.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed for one night but it was great to get there and park at the hotel, book in dump our bags in the room and have a couple of drinks in the bar. We had a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket in our room, we chose to eat in the bar, we could have eaten in the restaurant, the food was gorgeous and the staff very friendly. it really is a beautiful old hotel a good breakfast in the morning. I probably would not have chosen the four poster room if another had been available, just because of the extra expense but on the other hand we do like a room within the hotel rather than in the courtyard of a hotel
Cons: nothing to fault
6,7 Good
Pros: Excellent food and very convenient location
Cons: The fire alarn at 2.45am with no guidance or advice from the staff as to the problem
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, high standards but a relaxed and warm atmosphere. Really good food, very nice bar with good beer and a log fire (it was November after all), rooms clean, comfortable and well appointed. Popular with the local community too, always a good sign.

Pros: Lovely cosy hotel. Room was delightful. Spacious and clean. The staff were very accommodating. Great location.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Host was excellent, as was breakfast and bed.
Cons: Road a little noisy
6,3 Good
Pros: Just out of central Burford but a 10 minute walk will take you into Burford central. Perfect location to visiting Burford. Walking distance from the lovely huge garden centre. The owner is very welcoming and attentive. Was able to provide valuable information on daily excursions.
Cons: The lodge is located on a busy main road, unlucky if you get a room overlooking the road as it's very noisy. The property could look stunning if time was spent making the entrance/carpark/front area more attractive - looks very shabby. The property is clean but again improvements can be made. The Oxford room over looks the main road, a small room, first glance it looks elegant but the mattress was very hard and the actual divan bed was old and worn in places - attention to detail. Tea/coffee facilities in room but you have to be a mind reader to know that the tea bags/coffee sachets are hidden in a dummy book which sits on the dressing table. Cooked breakfast is plentiful but you are asked to make your choice of breakfast as you arrive and provide a time as to when you are coming down for breakfast!
7,5 Good
Pros: As described
Cons: Bathroom a little small
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was efficient, enthusiastic and more than helpful. The rooms, although rather small had everything you require. Bed comfortable, cleanliness exceptional, the bathroom/ shower gleamed! There was plenty of hot water. Although some of the furniture was dated it had everything you needed, hairdryer, coffee, tea and biscuits. There was an abundance of lovely white towels, shampoo etc. If anything could be improved I would suggest that the exterior( garden, pathways etc.) be upgraded as the first impression would probably put people off. However, in our opinion it is good value for money, only 10 minute walk into the heart of Burford and just round the corner from Burford Golf Club!
Cons: There is great protential for improving the garden which could be put to good use on a nice sunny day. There is outdoor furniture but it wasn't particularly inviting as there was rather a lot of potted plants Which didn't particularly enhance the surroundings.

Pros: Excellent location and very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. The room was comfortable and clean with very good facilities.
Cons: It was very warm so we opened the windows and the road noise was quite loud.

Pros: Very friendly ! The porridge is amazing . We had a great stay . Lovely and close to burford Hugh street .
Cons: The mattress in the 4 poster bed could do with Beijing double the height . It was hard to sit in the bed to be comfortable because the sides were hard . Amazing bath though !
