Pros: Ancient old pub expanded over the generations and boasting a new apartment block for accommodation. Very busy on a Saturday night - caters for up to 70 in a series of dining rooms but room found for us quickly . Staff were caring and efficient , food was good especially the breakfasts included in the price.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Service was superb The Staff Excellent Accommodation faultless value for money superb and I will be coming back and I will spread the word how good it was Thank You
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good choice of cooked breakfasts, well cooked and presented. Lunch and evening menu was good and varied. A little on the expensive side, but it would have taken a very hungry person to eat 3 courses. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming, always had time to talk and advise of things to do locally. We were a party of 9 and for meals were given a separate dining area, which was really helpful.
Cons: We were a party of 9 and a separate lounge area would have nice for us to meet and chat. To do this we had to meet in our bedrooms.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very filling and delicious breakfast. Room was very spacious and comfortable.
Cons: One room window faced the kitchen, and the other a busy walkway.
10,0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Highway Inn in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Good location right in the centre of Burford, nice breakfast. Lots of options available and generally friendly staff. Not much else unfortunately.
Cons: I am not sure how I make a complaint, however I'd like to register one. I'd taken my partner away for her birthday (a treat to take her shopping in Bicester with a nice overnight stay) and this was supposed to be a romantic get away for the weekend. Unfortunately, on arrival, the person checking in, whilst friendly, stated that we should "take care as the shower might not work, hopefully it will". I didn't take much notice of it, however come Sunday morning, we tried to make it work and the only thing that came out was at best cold to luke warm water. The temperate control would not turn. Further more, in our room there is clearly a drainage issue as after running the water for about 30 seconds, the bowl of the shower is full of water and takes 15-20 mins to drain away. I therefore had to go down in my pjs to reception to get help, and whilst the waitress did everything she could, she could not get it fixed (she isn't a plumber afterall). I therefore had a very disgruntled partner who could not use the shower and instead of this being a lovely weekend away, it turned into a bit of a disaster as she couldn't shower (you can't wash hair in cold water) and it really put a slant on the weekend. Please can I understand why a room costing £120 has a facility like this and I'd like this complaint to be registered with the owner of the hotel with an explanation please. Afterall, I could stayed in the Premier Inn at the top of road for £20 cheaper, but we chose your place because it had a bit of character and charm about it. However, the facilities were poor, and worse still, it's clear to me that every member of staff knew that this room has issues with the shower as multiple frontline staff stated so. How can the owners sell a room for £120 knowing that this is an issue. It's not acceptable. I've got photos if you want to see them.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Manager went out of his way to serve us an EARLY breakfast!!
Cons: Our stay was too short!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Exactly what we were looking for from a Costwolds inn - beautiful cosy place, great location, delicious breakfast and very helpful and kind staff. Had a wonderful stay
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly, dinner & breakfast was excellent!!
Cons: No parking
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Fresh products and well presented. Staff were charming, and especially helpful with gluten free dishes. Comfortable stay and very well situated.
Cons: The shower was barely a trickle but in such an old building that can be expected!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly (Scott, Hilary, Kaz, Kirsten and Alice) and made us and our Westie puppy very welcome from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice on the menu and everything being freshly cooked to order. We ate in the bar every evening during our stay and that too was excellent. There is a lovely courtyard where we sat and enjoyed a drink in the evening sunshine before dinner which was an added bonus. We will definitely return to The Highway Inn.
Cons: Can't think of anything we disliked.
6,3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was all right. The staff were very nice with our dog. The inn is located right in the main street, but there are problems.
Cons: The sound of the traffic going past constanly day and night was horrendous, going on all through the night, we had a front bedroom. With having no carpark we had to leave our car away from the Highway Inn.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Rooms had so much character and big comfy beds. Staff so personal and great location.
Cons: The shower was very hard to adjust to the right temperature.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room we had was dog friendly and very spacious. Love this hotel.
Cons: There is very little not to like. As a dog owner an area to walk the dogs would be nice but it was easy enough to go out and walk in the local area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room very clean and comfortable . Lovely staff . Great location to see town
Cons: Nothing

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Bay Tree is in a great location with excellent accommodation. The evening meal was fabulous.
Cons: I have a limited diet as I don’t eat gluten or dairy. I asked for either poached or fried egg but was given scrambled which had cream in it. Instead I had berries which were delicious.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked that we were upgraded
Cons: Tenfield Curtains on the runner Be able to shut window, as it was on pavement. Valance on bed, could have been changed. Room needs refreshing Te
7,0 Good
Pros: Convenient location and dogs allowed in room and bar. Food was good, although there could have been more choice for vegetarians. Breakfast excellent and we were served alone in bar as had dog with us - very promptly. 11am checkout very convenient as wanted to watch the rugby before we left.
Cons: In theory, were not allowed to book table in bar (where we had to eat because of dog) - as we were hotel residents, and had two guests coming over, this was very annoying. Reception were no help with this, but the lady in the bar was very pleasant. Radiator in room would not switch off - had to open all windows! Despite being in 'good garden room' had no access to garden!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff location and room
Cons: There was NO mobile reception at all. We were unable to access any wifi at all. This is a problem they are aware of but was not shared with us. If we had known we would have not stayed there.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The buffet breakfast was fairly well presented with an assortment of high quality foods. The room was comfortable and well provided for our requirements. The location was excellent and the car parking facility o.k. if a little squashed. The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The cooked full english breakfast was served ready plated. There was no option offered to limit or increase the individual amounts on the plate eg: 1 or 2 eggs, extra bacon rasher etc. I have had much better full english cooked breakfasts. I realise that customers do like silver service when dining, but I think self service breakfast should be an option. To have it served when all other items on the breakfast menu are from a buffet, gives the impression that the cooked breakfast ingredients form a very limited item.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!! The room was perfect and immaculately clean, the check in was easy and quick, the service from all the staff was amazing
Cons: The only slightly negative thing I can think of is that we had no idea where to park, the street parking was full and there were no signs for a carpark
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Water pressure poor in room (Shilton)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic room
Cons: More choice in restaurant menu

Pros: We felt at home as soon as we arrived, we received a friendly welcome. The building is beautiful!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was pleasant to be met by the owner in the car park who helped us with our luggage to our room. Great to have a bedroom on the ground floor with a view of the pretty central courtyard which would be even more perfect on sunny days.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old coaching inn. Quiet room. Good location for Blenheim Palace.
Cons: Much more than I would normally pay for a hotel but my stay did coincide with the horse trials at Blenheim Palace so price was to be expected perhaps.
7,9 Good
Pros: Great breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfy. The room was very clean and the breakfast was lovely
Cons: There was a Tea party on when we arrived which meant there was no room in the car park for us to park which had been one of the factors for booking as you had a secure car park. I think it may be an idea that the car park is kept for people staying overnight in the Hotel as day users could use the free public car park next door.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Period features and a shady court yard to have out ore dinner drinks.
Cons: I wasn’t made aware that my bathroom was not actually in my room. Not the end of my world but for some it might be... remembering to take keys/lock up room/ disturb surrounding rooms was a bit of a pain... and the bathroom was extremely compact...to use the sink required some interesting contortionist moves and a larger person than I would seriously struggle with the lack of space. I think all of this should have been brought to my attention before booking the room, given the choice I would have preferred an en-suite. The bedroom was fine- clean, well equipped ( except the lack of bathroom!) with plenty of room for the solo traveller and had excellent dark curtains which kept out the majority of light from the street light directly opposite my window.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and pleasant. The location was great and parking was easy.
Cons: The hosts were busy with paperwork and not very friendly. We were treated respectfully but not kindly.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Charming property in the heart of Woodstock. Beautifully maintained, comfortable accommodation and incredibly welcoming hosts.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Attentive friendly staff
Cons: No extractor fan in windowless bathroom
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice old world charm hotel in centre of village. Very friendly staff

Pros: The location was perfect for a Cotswolds mini break. The Riverside room was very comfortable and the added bonus of a small private garden was great for our 2yr old son. Every member of staff were not just helpful, but super friendly as well as professional - we were very impressed. We will be back...
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very attentive and friendly staff
Cons: The TV in our room should be relocated to the wall at the bottom of the bed for better viewing .
5,0 Okay
Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Not really value for money.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Was picture perfect
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I love the place, peaceful, charming, idyllic atmosphere fantastic.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I fell on my feet, this was the perfect country inn with food to match. Beautiful Cotswold stone building, tasteful country-style furnishing and a blissfully comfortable bed. I had venison and beetroot pie and pineapple tarte tatin for dinner, both were absolutely delicious, the best meal I've had for a long time and at a reasonable cost. Lovely cooked breakfast and I have never tasted such delicious toast and butter, both locally produced.
Cons: Only tiny niggle - very dim lighting in the bedroom made it difficult to read, and the washbasin taps needed new washers as they were difficult to turn off which meant they dripped.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent short break staff were excellent, food very good hot tasty even at very busy times nothing was a problem. Our stable room clean, beautiful toiletries,c comfy bed and warm xx many thanks to everyone
Cons: When we had to leave after a very good breakfast.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, quiet hotel in the old style with excellent food, log fires and unobtrusive service.
7,7 Good
Pros: charming location, very beautiful building, exellent service
7,0 Good
Pros: Relaxing atmosphere and style was a mix of a good hotel and an excellent inn.Staff at all levels friendly/professional/efficient/attentive and welcoming.Meals in bars/lounge were off a high standard. Room large and easily accessed for handicapped guests/
Cons: 4 Log fires great, but all needed to have their chimneys swept! Normal wood fire aroma spoilt by visible smoke that attached to clothes/hair. This was one of several weaknesses that indicated lack of maintenance/checks by local or Cotswold Inns and Hotel management. Gratuity added to restaurant bill without previous advice and bathroom had no bath only a shower -this was a superior room but it had the smallest bathroom that could be designed. Limited clothes hanging space(coat hooks behind doors would have helped)
7,7 Good
Pros: Relaxing
4,4 Okay
Pros:
Cons: There appeared to be little if any supervision of the staff. The staff generally seemed to be unhappy about working there. This was expressed by their attitude.

Pros: Nice property - in the heart of Woodstock village - so it's a perfect location for tourists. The staff provide excellent customer service and the food both Evening Meal and Breakfast were of a high standard.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, friendly staff and spacious room. All very clean and tidy. Great bar/restaurant downstairs and ideally located on the market square. 2 mins walk to Blenheim palace.
Cons: Nothing to dislike, tidy place. Paying for location as all hotels locally are around this price.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent friendly staff, lovely pub with nice atmosphere.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for visiting Blenheim Palace, it is just two minutes to the estate entrance. Very good full English breakfast, there are other choices if you prefer. Very comfortable overnight stay. It wasn't a problem for me but in my room you could hear the chatter from the bar.
Cons: The stairs up to the rooms are very steep, narrow and twisty. The staff were very helpful though and took my luggage up.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: The room was clean and lovely. It is not a large room , as it's own on suite, but makes up with the hospitality. Can't do enough to make sure you was happy. First class English breakfast, 5 minute walk to blenheim place and saw lots of buses to Oxford. Small town but lovely and friendly. Totally recommend the hotel.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: A lovely personal welcome, a great location, really friendly, competent and helpful staff and a fabulous breakfast.
Cons: Minor detail, but the bathroom in our ensuite needed a little attention to maintenance, not picked up by housekeeping. The owners have welcomed my well-intended message on this, and have said all will be fixed.
7,5 Good
Cons: The cleaning of the room during the stay was minimal
7,9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was perfectly adequate., Location fine.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location.
Cons: Rooms are quite small and access would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Parking could be a nightmare.
7,1 Good
Pros: The bed was comfy breakfast was very nice
Cons: Shower was not attached to the wall properly but when pointed out was assured it would be looked at, but that was pointed out on check out
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderfully quiet and comfortable also spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly highly recommended.
Cons: It wasn't a problem for us but the rooms are reached via an outside and uneven flight of stone steps. It would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility difficulty.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Clean, warm, nice breakfast, good location... but still rating it very low because in this place you are not guaranteed to have any sleep. And personnel is aware of that. Description and pictures below.
Cons: 3 of us stayed in room 6 which offers 2 single beds and sofa-bed. I was unlucky one who was supposed to somehow manage to sleep on this sofa-bad what was COMPLETELY impossible. This foldable sofa is so curvy! It has hill in the middle follower by gaps. Have you ever tried to sleep on sinusoid? When your lower back and head are on these higher parts but back and legs are somewhere above gaps? Why owners of this place find it possible to offer their guests to sleep on that??? Would they be okay to spend night on similar bed? Why so much disrespect to guests? When I mentioned it to porter in the morning, he said sorry. Seriously... you come to the hotel to sleep, you don’t get this sleep, you get lower back pain and hip pain instead - and they are sorry (and not going to change anything). What an approach! Another thing - very strong smell of cleaning chemicals.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely perfect place location All staff were a credit to management very accomodating couldn't help enough great prices would definitely return and would recommend this place to anyone and the full English was lovely and reading the menu they cater for all breakfast types, daily specials etc etc thanks Keith and Kate room 3.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, they couldn’t have been more accommodating to my daughter for the night before her wedding
Cons: Problems with the kitchen but staff worked hard to overcome this and serve a lovely breakfast
9,4 Excellent
Pros: The room, the quiet, the comfortable bed, the excellent breakfast (even though I only ate it once), the accommodating staff (thank you for my early morning latte on the patio).
Cons: Turning off the patio lights around 11 p.m. (midnight?)..... I couldn't have my late night read outside.... a small thing, but important for me. It would have been good to have a facecloth included with the room's linens.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Staff very welcoming and nothing too much trouble.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Historic building with modern bathroom.
Cons: Restaurant was closed.
7,9 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful and did their best to help and make us comfortable.
Cons: The carpets were very dirty and the whole hotel was in need of refurbishment. The exception was the dining room which was clean and modern. However the restaurant was closed for the three nights we stayed which was a big disappointment so we never got to eat there except for breakfast which was good. We were also annoyed to be emailed to inform us that we should book a table as the restaurant is very popular. The next sentence told us that the restaurant is closed Monday to Wednesday every week. Those were the three nights of our visit.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Enjoyed my stay the room was nice with a comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly.
6,5 Good
Pros: All the staff were, without exception, very friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom were very clean, bedding was changed and clean towels provided as we would expect. Daily replenishment of refreshments and toiletries was excellent.
Cons: The breakfast was extremely disappointing. The service, although friendly, was shambolic, lots of walking around with little effectiveness, long delays getting our ordered coffee, toast and orange juice. Long delay to order hot breakfast which when it arrived was below standard. The buffet table was not checked during breakfast resulting in no availability of pastries, bread rolls. A large selection of jams but nothing to eat them with! The hotel was receptive to my feedback on booking out but not everything could be attributed to the reason they gave, ie training a new breakfast chef.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff good food and positive experience
6,7 Good
Pros: location
Cons: breakfeast orders done by one person, to insure order was taken properley, which will aid service and delivery of food.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Professional based on a solid foundation over years of good quality service. Yet very homely Good spot to stay Graham

Cons: The service was hit & miss. We were asked if we would like to see the pudding menu and said yes please, then never saw another member of staff in the restaurant. Also, we were very hot during the night. And on inspection, the bed has a plastic backed mattress cover. Not nice.

Pros: Wonderful breakfast and great value for money. Missed out trying the woodsmoke pizza but hopefully next time. Staff were really helpful and allowed us to check in early as we were off to a wedding.
Cons: Coffee machine wasn't the best and a common mistake by many hotels is that the mugs don't fit under the machines :-( But that is the only thing we could find fault with.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly and helpful and the Inn was a beautiful old building with charming rooms.
Cons: Potential guests should be aware that this is an older building so don’t expect elevators so it would not be suitable for the disabled.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Food, staff helpful and welcoming great atmosphere and pet friendly
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was very convenient for my stay
Cons: I am a fresh air fan and unfortunately in my room I did not have a window I could open as it was just 2 doors back and front of the room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at inn for all seasons. From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed it so much we booked an extra night, making it 3 in total. The breakfast was very nice and we had one dinner here which was fantastic, regretted not having it again but thought we should try other places in the area. Had a night cap in the bar each night though and a chat with one of the owners who gave us great tips on places to visit in the area. Would definitely recommend staying here.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, comfortable, convenient for car park.
Cons: As the restaurant cooks everything fresh, although we had a 7:30pm table, it was gone 9pm before mains were served. Would have preferred floor mats in bedroom and bathroom rather than having to walk on cold floor - as wet weather, had left shoes at door. Heating not controllable in the room.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing, both the breakfast and the lunch we had the day we checked in. The owners, John and Debbie, were welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. With it being 500(?)-year-old inn, the building has a weird layout and this gave the en-suite room a charming character that makes a change from the sterile, modern hotel rooms. The room was spacious and had everything we could need, including a bath. I would definitely recommend the Inn For All Seasons if you need to stay somewhere in the area or if you need to stop somewhere for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Cons: The inn is located 2 miles away from the Stone Barn venue where we were attending a wedding. The inn is perfectly located for the venue but due to its location the nearest taxi companies are based Carterton 5-6 miles away. This means the taxi fares are very high (it cost us £60 for a return trip to Stone Barn) so take this into account when arranging your trip. We also advise booking well in advance because the taxi firms all seem to be small with only a few cars at most so they get booked up quickly. Obviously the Inn For All Seasons aren’t to blame for this and it isn’t a problem if you have a car. Our return home was much less costly as there is an infrequent bus service between Oxford and Cheltenham that runs down the A40 and stops outside of the inn. Our only other complaint (apart from the garish carpet on the stairs and landing) was that the mattress was a bit lumpy so we had a bit of trouble getting to sleep initially.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Food excellent for poster very comfortable
Cons: Coffee and wine quite expensive
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Good food at dinner
Cons: Very noisy and bedroom needs updating. Double bed was two togethers
7,5 Good
Cons: Too close to the A40 road too noisy. Also have been over charged I.e. VAT twice!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a converted room behind the inn and we could park the car right outside. The room was furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Breakfast was included and there was a good choice and it was very tasty. Staff are friendly and professional.
Cons: A builder was working on the room above ours so there was a noisy half hour just after we arrived. The road outside the inn is busy and noisy.

Pros: A perfect place to stay! It was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. The grounds are very pretty too. Good food and great ambiance throughout. Nice staff and the cutest cat, Parker, outside that we loved giving a pet to on our way by. Loved the river across the street for fishing and the circle walking path through the country. We would definitely stay here again!

Pros: Hotel and staff very nice.it was very clean and tidy. Great patio / garden to relax and chill .hotel in good location to travel out to other towns for the day.great for weekend break.

Pros: Nice very staff.
Cons: Small room and small bed for the room rate. Drinks and food very overpriced.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good. the location was also good and it was very quite in the night time.
Cons: The only thing I was disappointed with was the cost to use the pool, I failed to notice when booking that it would cost £25 per person to use if you were not having a treatment in the spa, both my husband and I felt that was far to much when we were only going use the pool for a few hours just to chill out.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel, the food and the staff were wonderfull. It was my our honeymoon and it was every thing I hoped it would be. The staff were very friendly and made us feel special.
Cons: Acouple more beers would have been good. There was no Bitters and the food was a little overpriced but very good.
6,7 Good
Pros: The lovely village location and splendid grounds, the roaring fires and tasteful country house feel.
Cons: The restaurant was a little disorganised. Four people took our orders and served us and the co-ordination was lacking and the service was therefore slow. Why not allocate given tables to specific waiting staff?
5,3 Okay
Pros: The hotel grounds and local area
Cons: The fact they have a two tier system where guests staying at the Old Swan get dining reservation preferences and their own roped off lounge area that the Minster guests cannot use
4,3 Okay
Pros: Character hotel.
Cons: Standard room very small, we stayed in the barn conversion annexe, room was very small with single glazed window which was very noisy. It felt as if we were staying in a beach hut. There was a noise in the pipes which kept us awake most of the night. Also we had to travel to a nearby pub as the restaurant(which is another pub a minute) away was full, priority to guests with bb and e meal.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first room was extremely hot, we spoke to reception who offered us another room without hesitation. The restaurant is excellent both for breakfast & dinner. After eating there the first night we definitely wanted to on our second night but forgot to book. So after a day out and about came back to hear it was fully booked being Saturday. However the staff were brilliant and said they would manage to squeeze us in and we weren't disappointed, the steak was perfect along with everything else! Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and setting. Will definitely go back.
4,0 Okay
Pros: I liked the helpful staff in the restaurant who worked extremely hard on the sturday evening of our stay.
Cons: I stayed in room 121 which was awful and i have complained personally to Diane Cornish the sales manager and i have yet to have the courtesy of a reply to my comments.
3,2 Mediocre
Pros: Setting and location excellent. Public rooms nice
Cons: Scandinavian type rooms (118) were very very small. Little wardrobe and storage space. Walls were paper thin. We could hear neighbours even when they were whispering and using bathroom! Flight path from nearby RAF base. No double galzing. It was clear the accommodation was geared to single people on conferences/workshops. Massive disappointmant!

Pros: The size of the room. The staff friendly and food good. The Location is excellent for visiting the area including Blenheim Palace. Breakfast was very nice. Car parking is off road and there is plenty of it.
Cons: I thought we were staying in an old coach house but you actually stay in a “motel-like” unit of about 8 rooms. The room is a good size but very tired and dated. The fixtures needed a little maintenance and corners needed to be cleaned. Light needed bulbs. The potential for this place is amazing given its location and if it were mine I definitely would make a little more effort to bring the place up a notch.

Pros: We have stayed here a few times, it is a bit tired in places but clean and still nice

6,7 Good
Pros: The decor, structure of the building & the bedroom size.
Cons: Not opening windows or air con so was very stuffy in hot weather and when having a bath or drying hair... not ideal... the staff which was only a blonde young girl to be seen, had to be called out the back to greet us which she had no customer service skills.. when checking out I had to call for assistance again, no manners or conversation attempt made..

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very central in a pretty location
Cons: No onsite parking
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location of hotel. Public rooms at the hotel.
Cons: Our bedroom, although very spacious, was rather grubby and tired. When we returned to the hotel at 3.30p.m on the Saturday afternoon, our bedroom door was wide open and,on entering after asking "is anyone there? " we realised that the bedroom and bathroom had not been cleaned at all. Bed done but nothing else. When we asked the manager and other staff to explain the reason for this they could not give a reason and just said that they didn't understand what had happened. Then went on to say that there had been a mix up. How on earth can this happen in a six bedroom hotel!!!! No apology really. Had to ask for a free bottle of wine as a gesture for such an inconvenience. Price of £360 for two nights B and B in a hotel of this standard was totally ridiculous. We would never recommend this place to anyone else - too expensive, too grubby and attitude of staff needs to be addressed. One girl was extremely rude to our party of friends when she told us in quite a rude manner, that we had to vacate our rooms by 10.30.We were not informed on arrival that this was the time, no information regarding this in the bedrooms as well. Totally disorganised, unprofessional hotel. Such a pity as the location is great.

Cons: Very steep steps to room. Staff were very attentive and friendly

Pros: Perfect location halfway up the High Street. Spotless good-sized bathroom. Good freshly cooked breakfast. Nice garden area

We refused to stay there and went back to the hotel where suddenly management magically found. room for us . We were then told by reception that they would send the next guest there rather which was gob smacking at best . Not a great representation of the hotel .

Pros: We only stayed for one night but it was great to get there and park at the hotel, book in dump our bags in the room and have a couple of drinks in the bar. We had a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket in our room, we chose to eat in the bar, we could have eaten in the restaurant, the food was gorgeous and the staff very friendly. it really is a beautiful old hotel a good breakfast in the morning. I probably would not have chosen the four poster room if another had been available, just because of the extra expense but on the other hand we do like a room within the hotel rather than in the courtyard of a hotel

Pros: This property was an unusual configuration but the room was reasonable and the bathroom more than adequate. It was a great distance from Blenheim Palace.
Cons: There was a street fair on the night we stayed which we did not know about. It was quite loud. Parking was £10 per night. Service at the bar was a little slow.
7,1 Good
Pros: The staff in the hotel itself were very pleasant and friendly. the room was well decorated and clean. However the room was very small and crowded with big furniture. There was an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe but I don't know where you could have put it up.
Cons: The staff on reception when we arrived were not particularly welcoming or helpful. They just told us where our rooms were and we had to find them ourselves. There was no offer to help with luggage. I was asked for a credit card for pre-authorisation for the room which was fine and a usual process but then I was asked if I wanted to add any money onto the pre-authorisation for any extras, food, drink etc. I said I didn't know if we would be having any and asked if I couldn't just charge any additional expenses to the room. the reception staff suggested I make the pre-authorisation up to £600 then if I did not use any of the extra it would be refunded to my card in a couple of days. I declined. I have never encountered that before. Also there was an additional £10 per night charge for the car park which I was surprised at as the car park itself behind the hotel was very difficult to access in our vehicle, an Audi Q7 and there were not any parking spaces available and so we went into the overflow car park which was much easier to park in and had plenty of room.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean room, hotel is in excellent location with good car parking. Bar staff friendly and efficient.
Cons: Perhaps a little expensive for what it is.
