Pros: This old world hotel has been given an update to make it comfortable by modern standards, although the update is starting to get near the point where it needs another refresh. Our room was smaller than other places where we stayed on our trip (for two people I wouldn't want anything smaller), but given that we were virtually right on the square in Toulouse city center and were paying a very reasonable price, it would be unfair to expect something more. The bed was reasonably sized, though - I'm 6'8" tall and slept comfortably with my wife. So you only notice the room size when you are up and about trying to get ready. The staff is great, helpful and welcoming, especially with respect to explaining how to get through the square to park. Parking's not cheap, but it's reasonably close - there's a big underground city lot whose entrance is diagonally across the square from the hotel. A caution: do NOT try to race over the automatic bollards that rise up to block off the streets. We saw a woman try it and the bollard knocked her engine almost out of her BMW. I'm sure the damage was worth tens of thousands of dollars. We spent two nights and had breakfast one of the two mornings. The other we walked out and went to a patisserie, which was a good deal less costly but not as varied. The orange juice, fresh made in front of you, is especially good, but everything else was good and fresh, too. In the afternoon the staff will serve you a drink in the breakfast area, which converts to a nice lounge area that makes up for the room size - it's a pleasant place to sit and read. But also, just outside in the square there are many restaurants with outdoor seating that are great for people watching.

It is a perfectly appointed hotel with a lovely, modern yet comfortable reception, immaculately clean throughout, and wonderful rooms of a good size, with everything you need. We had checked into a different hotel first which wasn’t that much cheaper, but was incredibly basic, tired and not clean, so to find this hotel for not much more cost was heaven! We only had one night but should have stayed longer. A short walk into the wonderful old town, quiet rooms, probably a nice bar which we didn’t use. A great find.

Cons: Hard to stop in front of hotel to drop luggage but that’s Toulouse, especially in this section which is old and charming. There is a largish lot up on the main street that we used instead and then just rolled our luggage across.

Cons: The shower was handheld and connected to the bathtub faucet. Its hose was not long enough to use standing up. There also was no shower curtain. I stayed in another hotel in Toulouse with a similar arrangement, so maybe it is just local custom not to shower standing.

Pros: Was assigned an attic room but it was very modern and had a huge skylight that let in plenty of light. I loved the feel of the room which effortlessly blended modern decor with the more traditional beam features of the room...it was full of character and just very charming. The bathroom was also very modern and had a great shower. The staff were a delight and any request was promptly dealt with. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely stay there again, especially as it offers tremendous value for the quality you get.

Cons: The toilet is separate from the bathroom but the light in there was very unstable and seemed to have a mind of its own, switching off after 30 seconds or so. The air conditioning was very complicated to use and I could only get one setting to actually work. However, these were only minor issues for me.

There wasn't an electrical outlet in the room. We specified to stay in a specific room but was not informed of the stairs which were steep and narrow and was in great need of re-carpeting. The bathroom door needed more privacy.

Cons: Wooden floors gives noise from foot traffic. Hotel seems to be mainly for business people who often arrive late / leave very early creating noise. Our room was 108 and we experienced noise from people in the street outside from a club/bar nearby around 0030 to 0100. Allowing very young children in the pool often creates annoyance to other guests through noise and can ruin the ambiance

Cons: Breakfast not good. Nothing much to eat. Only few choices of food. You only get bread , butter and some jam or honey. Coffee , tea or some juice. That is all you have in breakfast. Pros: Hotel in good location for canal and easy ten minute walk to town center.
Cons: The hotel was not easy to find, (arriving when dark after a drive from southern Spain) It looks as though the hotel has been recently been 'taken over' by Ibis and still displays huge signs with the 'old name'. A smallish sign is displayed but only seen by us over the entrance door once the hotel had finally been found. (The sat nav code took us to the general area but parking was difficult when we set of on foot to find the building) The hotel facilities and room was well worn and in need of renovation/redecoration. The bed and bedding was clean and the bathroom basics seemed clean but the whole room was in dire need of a deep clean with the corners and tops looked untouched for years. The ceiling in the room was blackened where the air conditioning discharged. The bathroom tile grouting was black at shower end of bath and the bath bottom had 'rust like' stains leading towards the drain. I would not step into that bath!
