Pros:Car was clean and relatively new.Cons:Car had no gas in it when picked up. (Red light on). One of the wheels didn’t have air pressure with pressure notification light on at pick up. No credit was given when car was returned with Kore than half tank more at return. Credit card info was stolen from the system by someone who was trying to charge the card for other purposes.Reviewed Feb 25 2021

Pros:I was told by a couple of different people that they didn't have the car I was looking for because they had rented it out to someone else even though I had rented it online weeks before. I was then told that online reservations don't really mean anything for international rentals. When I tried to work with them to ensure that I was going to get the 12 passenger van that I had rented I had to beg and go back and forth with them. I was threatened and told that I wouldn't get the car I wanted if I didn't get there at a certain time (way before my original reservation). I was finally told that they would make an exception and make sure I got my car when I arrived. When I arrived, since there was a different desk worker I had to go through the same thing over again, telling me that they didn't have anymore available. I felt that they were being dishonest and played me, they also ended up charging me more than the original cost online.Cons:I was told by a couple of different people that they didn't have the car I was looking for because they had rented it out to someone else even though I had rented it online weeks before. Watch out!! Thrifty in Mexico City is a scam and rPros:The vehicle workedCons:The total price for my rental was $212 US, but they tried to charge me $535 for insurance!! I explained that I have my own insurance that covers me on all vehicles or any incidents of any kind, but they tried to say I was not allowed to decline their insurance, even though I provided proof of having my own!! After 2 hours of arguing, finally they suggested they pull up the Thrifty policies regarding this online. I read them and it clearly stated that insurance was recommended, but optional. After 2 hours of arguing I finally got the car for the listed price, but they did also insist on my signing a blank piece of paper stating that I agree to pay for any and all damages listed above. Mordita!!!!Reviewed Feb 29 2016

Misrepresentation!Pros:There was nothing to like.Cons:First Thrifty said that my agreement had been canceled. Then they finally found my file and increased my cost to over $500 after adding insurance. In addition they asked for a large deposit for a down payment in case of incidentals. None of this was disclosed on my online rental. I felt I was totally being scammed and decided to go with another car rental place in the airport. I am very disappointed in Kayak for representing Thrifty and making me, your customer, believe I had a deal when in fact I did not. The experience was horrible - to put it mildly. For future reference, it would be helpful if Kayak described the transaction to your customers in a more detailed way. Furthermore, it is important for customers to be able to read and review their full lease agreement before arriving to their destination where they need to rent a car. Finally, you all should have a way to book a car similar to the way you book a hotel. The customer should be able to pay for their rental from home instead of being scammed upon arrival.Reviewed Apr 28 2016

Worst service at drop offPros:The pickup service was decentCons:The car had the driver“s mirror broken and it moved every time there was a little jump on the road, very dangerous. They tried to change all the conditions we agreed upon pick up and didn't want to take cash when they said at pick up they would. The insurance price was about 4 times more than the price of the car.Reviewed Jan 6 2016

Traveler's NightmareCons:First, it says that they will have 24hour service at the airport when we arrive. The terminal where we arrive at 5am, there was no one there. we are in a different country so I am using my roaming to call the numbers that they have and no one is answering. A police officer was kind enough to call as well and again, no answer. He said, "I don't know why they say they are 24 hours because they do not open until 8am. You are not the first ones to go through this with this rental company." We go to the next terminal which we have to pay bus to take us because they do not have free transportation to the different terminals. When we get there, again, there is no one there. Again, we ask other airport staff and they tell us the same thing about them opening until 8am. Finally a man who had been sleeping in the stall next to where it said thrifty, wakes up and we ask him if he knows anything about this company, and he says yeah, I am the guy I work for both stalls, but he had been completely asleep the whole time! When I finally tell him about the reservation that we had he calls the car lot and they give him prices. Our reservation said $189 for 7 days, and I thought maybe another $100 for insurance wen we would get there. it was over $700 that is outrageous!!!! That would have been a greater cost than both our roundtrip airplane tickets. I started discussing with him how unfair that was and how huge of a price difference that was. Especially since we had already wasted over an hour looking for someone from the company to even talk about our reservation. He said that he completely agreed with us. That we were one of many travelers who had run into the same unjustice, but there was nothing he could do. It was the worst experience ever. Our plans had to completely changed. Because we were certain that we were going to rent a car to drive 3.5 hours to our destination, we had extended our stay one day at our arrival before renting the car. We had to go to a wedding that evening. Absolutely placed us in a Major set back. We had to spend money on a taxi to the bus staion and waits another 4 hours for the next bus out. and our plans of traveling to a couple destinations were canceled. Worse experience EVER!!!!!Reviewed Jan 7 2016
