St. Johann in Tirol hotels

Pros: It was very comfortable and very clean, the owner was extremely kind, offered a lots of programms for families, and did everything that we feel good.

Pros: Better than fabulous. The host was friendly, generous and very attentive. The room was spotless. The bed, pillows and lines were very comfortable. Everything is very stylish and looks new including the bathroom. The breakfast was exceptional.

Pros: We don't usually write reviews, but in your case we had to as we absolutely loved your pension. It had the standards of a hotel, but the comfort, friendliness and personal touch of a pension. Our apartment was fabulous, the decor throughout the pension was top-notch (the Villeroy Boch bath was a very pleasant surprise), and the breakfasts and ingredients used for them were excellent. We came by public transport, which involved a walk of around a kilometre from the train station. It wasn't a problem for us as we are used to walking everywhere, and the location was beautifully quiet as it was on the outskirts, but other guests should be aware of that fact if they don't have a car. We wouldn't hesitate the return (and are already planning it), and we will recommend you to all our friends. Thank you so much for making our stay so thoroughly enjoyable.

Pros: Very nice family pensions, location for skiing is great, in-house dinner is quite convenient option. The room itself was spacious, also ski and ski boots external rooms are good option.

Pros: There are a number of things I really liked about this pension. Foremost was the location. It is wonderfully situated about 12-15 mins walk (3 min drive) from the town center, at the edge of forest and meadows in a small enclave of houses. It is the only pension in the area making it very special. The views of the surrounding mountains and valley below are stunning and breathtaking. Best of all is the quiet at night. In town, while perhaps a touch more convenient for dining options, the noise at night could be disturbing, none of which applies at this pension's location. If I were to return to St. Johann i.Tirol, I would not want to stay anywhere else. Above all else I should also mention how friendly and helpful the owners are, thus making for a perfect stay and score.

Cons: There is nothing I could state which I did not like here, with the exception that I wish we could have stayed longer.

Pros: Amazing spa with two saunas, steam bath, infrared cabin, nice relaxation room. Room was quite big, modern furniture and decoration (also in the rest of the hotel). Good breakfast. Good location. Friendly staff. Very nice hotel bar, big cocktail menu. Was quite busy on a Saturday night.

Pros: Such a friendly family. We stayed over Christmas and our apartment had a small tree with lights plus they gave us a gift on Christmas Eve. Very thoughtful.

Cons: Sadly there were no laundry facilities. No washing machine in our 3 bedroom apartment and they asked you not to wash and hang wet clothes in your room.

Pros: We are very modern family - but we felt in love with this charming, cosy, austrian styled - one bedroom apartment from the 1 day of our family stay. Everything you need for making good food are at the apartment. (Dont forget to take(buy) dishwasher detergents(tabs and glas detergent- yourself, as the toilet paper.) Many tv channels, good parking, very nice ski depot room- with warm holders for ski shoes. Rolls, croissants can be ordered at family home and will be delivered next morning by your apartment door. Nice of all was the view from the apartment window and balcony! We were very happy to stay here!

Cons: Wifi was very weak- we had to use our own internet- it was expensive for us, as children were watching youtube and netflix moovies every evening. Booking.com says that it is direct access to skislopes- its is not, you have to go aprox 80 meters down a hill to access ski slope, most difficult fos us was to come back home- as you need to go up a hill, it is not a big problem for an adult- but mostly for children. (Our are 4 and 10 years old). Especially its not good if you were expecting direct access.

Pros: Fabulous location on the slope, next to the main gondola. I've stayed in a few hotels in St Johann and this was the best so far. We ate in the restaurant two nights because of the steep walk into town and glad we did - food was very good and we enjoyed fabulous views from the dining room, including sunsets.

Cons: Sauna etc. is not free. You also need to give a two days notice for a massage. The walk to and from town is a little steep. The hotel bikes are OK, but not free. We would consider renting electric ones next time, particularly for tackling any slopes. There is a nice ride to Kitbuhel, mainly flat and off-road.

Pros: Very nice staff, we were leaving before breakfast time and they packed a lunch for us in the evening before departure! Really loved the place, there was a comfortable big double bed and a bath tub. Would recommend for one and more nights

Pros: We (2 adults, 2 children - 3 and 7) stayed at the hotel during summer. The hotel is modern and has very nice views of the surrounding mountains. We especially liked the food (dinner and breakfast), particularly the desserts were super good. The welcome drink at the bar was well appreciated as well as the very friendly staff.

Pros: The hotel is nice and our stay was very good. The Staff is ok, the rooms are clean and the swimming pool and the sauna are big and comfortable. The parking is very easy, the WiFi in the room was good and the TV had some italian channels. The food was also good and variuos for the breakfast but also for the dinner.

Cons: 1) The restaurant is very good but if you go after 8 PM (it closes at 8.30 PM) you find lot of cold dishes. I think they stop coocking at 8 PM. 2) The waiters are accurate but sometimes they take your dish when you still have not finished your meal... 3) The prices of water is too high! We know that in Austria and Germany water is more expensive than beer but here it was exaggerated, mostly the price of the tap water... 4) The swimming pool is cool but temperature is a little bit cold (this may be subjective) but more than anything else it is full of children bomb diving... If you are looking for some relax don't go there...

Pros: Junior suite has really great size, it’s modern, functional and new.

Cons: I was staying in a room facing the main road, where majority of the rooms are facing. The road is very busy, and the noice did not allow us to keep the windows opened during night time. There is limited amount of rooms facing the back side of the hotel which might be more quiet but there is a kid’s playground located there.. The hotel is quite big, packed with people during main season so if you are looking for relaxing holiday you better choose an other type of accommodation and location.

Pros: It is a perfect place for calm summer holidays with nature, relaxing and sports. The hotel is nice, partly modern, partly "alpine style". The kitchen is excellent with a lot of choices. In winter time the ski lopes are just behind the house, at summer time you can hike directly from hotel. Sauna and spa is one of the best areas that I have seen in hotels in this category.

Pros: Great rooms in the new building. Great buffet both for breakfast and dinner. Amazing quality and variety. I was really positively surprised by the quality of the dinner buffet. The pool and Sauna are also really nice and the staff is really great.

Pros: The staff here at the Hotel are amazing. They are very helpful, informative and nothing is too much trouble for them. Yasmin on Reception is a great example of this. She was brilliant. There is also the St Johann guest card which you get as part of your stay which gives access to free bus and rail travel locally and discounts off attractions. Brilliant idea. Finally the meals package was also very good too.

Cons: Tea & Coffee facilities in the bedrooms would be nice. After a long day out walking, getting back and having a brew is often needed as is a cup of tea first thing in the morning.

This hotel has recently been renovated to a high standard which results in very cosy communal spaces, good bathrooms and very nice beds. Add good food and a nice bar and you have the perfect place to stay. We'll definitely be back!

Pros: On Sunday I had an accident whilst rodelling in Going and had to be airlifted to St Johann hospital. We managed to book my husband into your establishment for two days and as my stay extended in hospital they extended my husbands stay. I spent my last two days there before flying home and their service and attitude was awesome. Thank you and when I'm better I plan to visit St Johann to enjoy the full facilities of Hotel Fischer and St Johann itself.

There was a lot more choice at breakfast than we had imagined, from the expected continental breakfast of croissant, ham and cheese, to cereals, yoghurts, fruit, pankcakes (yum!) and bacon and scrambled eggs. We had not expected to be so near all the facilities - ski hire just a few doors down, with a discount; ski lift just a few doors up; close to the station; a free bus/train pass for the closer stations. The proprietor was a lovely man who spoke English well and all the staff were helpful and friendly. The room and beds were comfy; the bathroom was massive! And beautifully decorated too. Our homebound taxi was arranged for us.

Pros: Friendly family run hotel has very good location in the town, it is only 5-10 min walk to the town center, shops, supermarkets, railway station, and also to the ski lift. Ski bus stops just opposite the hotel. We enjoyed good quality breakfast in the mornings, and set menu dinners in the evening were tasty, cooked and served with love by the host Elsa. Thank you for making our skiing week in St Johann comfortable and relaxing.

Pros: Breakfast was very good. The host was extremely charming and caring. On the last day she allowed us to take a shower after we had checked out. Also one evening she prepared a "take away" dinner for one of us that was coming late. Overall a very good value for money (we were a group of 3).

Cons: Water pressure in the shower could be a bit better. No disposable slippers/bathrobe.

Pros: Very nice hotel in a very nice small town in Tirol. We booked the accommodation just 2 days before our arrival so all the rooms except one very small under the roof had been already taken but the host gave us a possibility to stay not in the main hotel, but in the second building called Chalet Alpina just a few meters behind the main building and the room there was just perfect and silent as it was far from the main street where the cars go. Big enough with a normal-size bathroom and with balcony facing the mountain. Also great possibility to use the swimming pool in Badewelt for free which is just 3 minutes of walk from the hotel. Close walking distance to the city centre which is small, but very nice to walk around. Delicious breakfast and superb 4 course dinner menu. Free water during breakfast and dinner. Possibility to park the car at the hotel /if there isn’t heavy snowing for several days/. Close distance to the slopes /we did not use the ski bus but our car/. The staff very kind and helpful.

Cons: Maybe more fruit during the breakfast would be nice. The bed mattress might be too soft for somebody /was for me but I was so tired everyday I did not mind that much and always fell asleep very quickly/. The towels probably stayed in the washing machine for a longer time after the washing cycle ended so they didn't smell nicely.

Pros: The hotel is located directly near a ski lift, so it is perfect for a ski in - ski out holiday. The scenery around is fairy tale, idyllic views with fur trees and mountain tops. The pub and restaurant are quite good, though the food selection is somewhat limited. It is cosy inside and the staff is really friendly. My husband didn't eat his steak because it was too raw, and the hostess was very upset and proposed to fix the steak, and when he declined, brought a beer on the house. We stayed in a separate building, which I suppose is older, so the rooms in a main building should be more modern and comfortable. But ours was also fine and nice, though a bathroom was tiny and there wasn't too much light.

Cons: I would prefer to have a kettle and some cups/utensils in the room to be able to boil my own tea. This was one thing I found lacking. It is not the hotel's fault of course, but the drawback of being directly at the lift is, it is quite a scary drive up the mountain on a narrow road and it's possible to be snowed in. Also, it is too far from St Johann for a walk, you can only drive, so if you thought of just popping into town for evening entertainment, be aware that you can't do that on foot. And there's no entertainment infrastructure near the hotel, except for its restaurant and pub. So be aware that it will be quite a secluded holiday, unless you are prepared to drive out and back in every evening.

Pros: Staff was nice, the restaurant is very cosy and has a nice view. The food was also pretty good and breakfast had more than enough variety. The room was clean. Indeed the hotel is right by the ski piste.

Cons: The budget room was definitely overpriced and did not look at all like in the pictures. Instead of wooden floors, there were cheap chipboard floors. Pillow and duvet were also very low quality, short and not at all comfortable. The only TV in the room was a tiny 90s TV like the kind many people used to have in their kitchens 2-3 decades ago. The room was more of a cheap, backpacker room than a double bed, 120 euro room. For that money or even less, we stayed in much better conditions at other hotels in the region. The curtains were very thin and let a lot of light go through, even though it was winter and it was snowing. The only window faced the mountains and parking area, with a tractor that was very busy the whole time. We could hear the neighbors' conversations pretty clearly through the walls. If this had cost closer to the backpacking room it was, I would have been more ok with the conditions. However, the pictures showed a completely different story on the website. We left one night early because both my partner and I slept really bad and the staff was nice enough to give us a small portion of the money back. We gave them our feedback and I hope they improve the price/conditions combination in the future. Also watch out for the weather conditions. The hotel is around 1-hour walk up the mountain and if it snows or it's icy, it's difficult to reach the hotel by car. For us, no taxi wanted to take us, but it was not a big issue because we had only our backpacks.

That is not true - you have complimentary access to a big public pool that's 10 mins walk away. That was disappointing as it's not as convenient and requires queuing up and getting an access card etc each time, and then using lockers etc. Restaurant was not great in the evening, but there were lots of good restaurants in the village near bye

Cons: Number of parking spots were limited, however in the close proximity there is a free public parking.

Cons: We were really disappointed. This really is not good value for money. The room was small, so was the bathroom. The spa was small, always packed with people and, the worst part, is was dirty. We ended up going to a spa in a different hotel and paid for this extra. The breakfast: they reserve tables for you but we only had reservation on the first day and the two other night we were made to feel bad that we did not have a table to sit on. We were asked several times if we booked the breakfast or not.

Pros: nice hotel in the center of St Johann and walking distance (10 minutes) from the ski lift

Cons: The room was not worth for what we payed, I was expecting a little bit more from a 4 Stars hotel, the smell on the room was disgusting

Pros: We had the breakfast and dinner option and the food was good. The place is not stylish, but you can tell that from the pictures, which are accurate.

Cons: The main disappointment we had was that we did not feel welcomed here. Upon check in, it would be nice to be given information about the many different activities in the area, and a little orientation. The manager handed us some tourist brochures, and shrugged when we asked if there were any good hikes nearby. He also did not give us the “guestpasses” which come free with all the accommodations in the area, and entitle you to free public transportation and numerous discounts. We only figured this out when we went to the next hotel with a far nicer staff on check in.
