So we did the train trip and reached Seattle. The hotel's location is excellent and almost walking distance to every landmark in downtown. Though due to Covid, Seattle was pretty dead but we still managed to have a good time. Apparently the hotel was closed all the time and had opened that weekend only. They had not checked on their amenities so my daughter had a cold water shower and then told us that the water is cold. They had issues with hot water so the entire day we couldnt shower since there was no hot water. The staff was good but this was a big issue for me and also it was like 60 F in Seattle and chilly as well. The director said he will compensate for our day 1 stay which he did not and I just felt that is going back from your word. It's not good customer service. Things were good the next day. The spa was open so we booked a spa and relaxed and did some outdoor sightseeing making the most of what we could given the situation.
Staff and location excellent.
Hotel partly closed for renovation during our stay.
The rules of the spa weren’t followed and staff didn’t seem to care. It was unsanitary and dangerous for the 4-10 under 6 y/o kids that were allowed in there by irresponsible parents and staff, not to mention extremely stressful for me having worked closely with children and being a parent myself. I also spent a lot of money on room service and they got much of my order wrong in addition to the description not matching what was served. It felt like they ran out of items and swapped for very cheap replacements.

Laura gave me an excellent rate on a presidential corner suite after I asked if they had any cancellations I could take advantage of. I was so impressed by the customer service of every staff member I encountered, from the vallet, to the doormen to the concierge and bell staff. I booked a room for my 30th birthday celebration with some girlfriends and Laura up front noticed my sister meeting me with balloons in the lobby. She wished me a happy birthday and the next thing I knew it, I was surprised with a bottle of champagne on ice, chocolate covered strawberries and a box of chocolates with a happy birthday card delivered to my room. I was over the moon impressed with the Fairmont hotel and my entire experience.
I was sad that the beautiful main ballroom was closed for renovations but am excited to see when they are finished! I should have checked that before! But given how amazing my experience was I wouldn’t have done anything different!
the hotel needs a major face life. it's run down. my heating was broken the first night- had to call 2 times to have it fixed. it all seems a bit run down. but the staff was really nice.
