Pros: Ok so the staff is so nice but room 414 had little to no water pressure and trickle of hot water...... I asked the front to change rooms but because they were full no possible.... So sucked it up and took Luke warm shower for two days.... Manager said he would comp a dinner at hotel eatery .... Didn't happen and no one seemed to know how it would work. Bed was comfortable location is great for San Jose .
My best advice to anyone staying in Costa Rica is get out of San Jose and see the countryside unless u want to be in New York meets Tijuana

Pros: Location location location! Couldn't have been in a better location. So close to all the tourist spots and good restaurants. San Jose is surprisingly a great city to explore on foot. It certainly has its gems. The staff at the hotel was AMAZING and super friendly and helpful. The included breakfast on the top floor was certainly a treat each morning.

Pros: Hotel Presidente was just a quick drive from the airport! Which makes it an ideal location to crash before or after exploring the rest of Costa Rica. It had a really hip industrial vibe which was fun. We are from NY and it felt a bit like home. Breakfast was included and the food was good and they had a lot of options. They staff was really nice and helpful! If you are looking for restaurants/shops everything is right out the front door. They also have a restaurant onsite and a cute little rooftop like patio.

Pros: The location was good, only a couple of 100 meters away from the car rental company. To the city center the walk is longer, though. It was clean, a standard business hotel. There was a parking garage at the hotel. I don't know if it is free when you stay several nights. I only used it for putting luggage into the trunk after getting the rental car.

Pros: From check-in to check-out, the people behind the front desk were excellent in all respects - - well informed, friendly, and helpful. Fernando, the tour and travel expert, helped us solve a problem with our rental car. Once he understood the problem, he was persistent in following through until the problem was resolved. Additionally, he was able to plot the best possible route for us to get out of the city And on our way to our next destination. He was bright, personable and enthusiastic. Our breakfast hostess was sweet and helpful, especially when I turned down her offer of coffee and explained that my stomach was upset. She immediately brought me a cup of chamomile tea and explained the medicinal benefits it is known to offer. She also gave me two extra bags for the rest of my journey. The parking lot was secure and well attended. Location of hotel was excellent. Bed was very comfortable and shower was excellent.

We were nervous because we hadn't heard good things about San Jose, but we felt safe and welcomed as soon as we arrived at the hotel. The receptionist gave us great recommendations for restaurants and activities, and the hotel was close to most major sights. I would definitely recommend staying at Hotel Aranjuez!

The website lists free airport shuttle as one of its amenities, but the front desk man told me it was only for guests who stayed longer than 24 hours. I politely said it was one of the main reasons I chose the hotel and was disappointed that I wasn't able to use this service. He hesitatingly picked up the phone and checked with the shuttle to see if there was room for one more in the morning, and sure enough there was! So it was a great turn out - but they should advertise this on the website. Everyone was very friendly. I also was given a breakfast box to go in the morning since I had to go to the airport before breakfast was served.

Pros: My wife and I were very pleased with our four-night stay at the Hotel Santo Tomas. Although the hotel is more-or-less in the city center, our room was quiet. Just as important the hotel had a relaxed feel to it, and the small patios and pool made it easy to forget the traffic and commercial activity nearby. Also worth underlining is that the location of the Santo Tomas is very convenient, that the breakfast is tasty and quickly prepared to order, that everything worked satisfactorily and that staff were friendly. The WiFi was not sensational but for us it was satisfactory.

Pros: This hotel is OK for a brief visit to San Jose. The location is good with the few sights of the City being within walking distance. It is in the safer part of town. San Jose only needs a day or so, being a large town with a small centre.
Cons: The room was a bit tired but functional. The small swimming pool is really just there to cool off if you are visiting in the hot season. Don't expect any more than a functional place to sleep and have breakfast.

Cons: Our safe in our room was problematic as it didn't always function. However, on a positive note they did fix it. Computer was older and rather slow though the latter may be more of an issue with the server in the area.

Cons: You will never get an early check-in or a late check-out. I have stayed at this hotel four times and each time the request was flatly denied, even for an extra 30 minutes. There is frequently a very long wait at the reception desk. We were given a coupon for two free drinks at the bar emblazoned with "bottoms up" but not usable for alcohol (despite no disclaimer on the card saying so). A couple of the food items are OK but not great (e.g., the chifrijo and panini) but some of them are pretty awful (e.g. the pizza). Be sure to read everything you sign. On the back of the check-in document you will likely be asked to sign a statement with no explanation of what you are signing. It is actually an important warning about a credit card fraud ring operating in the area. That being said, it is a clean and moderately convenient location. However, I would be really reluctant to stay here again due to a fairly disappointing stay on four different occasions.

Pros: Modern, clean hotel in city center near the parade route for Festival de la Luz, which was a nice coincidence during our trip. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was huge and comfortable. Parking was secure.

Cons: I stayed two nights, 6th and 7th, prior to joining the Road Scholar group on the 8th for one night. I suggested that I stay in the same room rather than moving to another room for one night. The hotel staff were not able to meet this request.

Cons: When we got to the room we didn't have power for the lights or the ac so I called downstairs (the phone worked) and they informed me you have to insert your keycard in a slot by the door to get power. Weird but ok, I'll play along. After a couple hours of trying to get the ac to work and trying to sleep without it, I ended up calling the desk and having them take a look. They couldn't figure it out and moved us to a room right next door, which was an upgrade. The staff was great and helpful with the situation but the new ac didn't work much better. All in all, not a bad hotel. Great location, there was free breakfast we didn't get to enjoy, they opened my bottle of wine, and took great care of my complaint. However, there was a lot of construction which was a little weird to deal with and the ac is a huge thing for me. From the north and my house is constantly freezing.

Pros: Great front desk staff and very helpful and courteous. Gave me room early at 12PM. ATM in the hotel with less service fee compared to I paid in the store. Nice smart ROKU TV , so I was able to watch my Netflix and YouTube etc. Good security and I found pretty safe to take the cab fm outside the hotel late night or arrive in cab at 3AM. Don’t risk walking alone though. WiFi issue was fixed which you see in many old reviews No guests fees upto 3 hrs

Cons: Room did not match photos at all. AC did not adjust so it was either freezing or hot. Lamps didn't work. No window in the room. Whole hotel hasn't been updated in over 20 years at least. Water from the shower shot everywhere but where it was supposed to. Sheets were stained. Not a good experience at all.

Staff were really helpful and woke up early to let us out due to us having an early bus. Rooms were ok, get what you pay for! ATM 50ms down the road as well.

Cons: Generally hostile attitude from a lot of the staff members, you have to be buzzed into the hostel and let into the locker room and most of the staff are pretty unhappy every time they have to do this. In the dorm I was in, the door couldn't be closed because the bed by the door actually stuck out into the doorway. And this point is amazing, the hostel's solution to only having one 'pan' [' ' are used because it A) didn't have a handle and B) had been used for BB gun practice at some point] is to berate guests that do not immediately wash it after use until they do so rather. This is instead of, I don't know, buying a few new pans. If they read this review they are welcome to use my solution for free as it only took me seven and a half seconds to think of it.

And good luck finding some room in the fridge for your stuff. - too few toilets and showers - very noisy, especially if your room is in the main corridor, people can be very loud all night long.
