Terrible. After waiting for over an hour past my reservation time I was told that no cars matching my reservation would be available for another and if I wanted to something now I’d have to pay another 25 as day for a pickup. I was late for a meeting and paid it like a real sucker. Don’t think I will do business with Payless again.Reviewed Aug 17 2025

I got picked up by the Payless shuttle and then dropped off at the Avis counter. The Avis company had a hard time finding my reservation even tho I told them it was for Payless. They finally found the reservation after looking in the Payless system. I had reserved a 2 door like vehicle but they gave me a 4 door Volvo instead. The car turned on and went on my way, but then realized main control screen that did the radio and air conditioner did not work. I pulled over on the highway and watched a video on how to reset the Volvo display system and then it worked. I just won’t use Payless or Avis again.Reviewed Jun 12 2025

Nothing but good things to say about my car rental experience with Payless. Everyone there was very nice, friendly, and helpful. When our original car had accidentally been double booked, they had a new upgraded car ready right away. And the shuttles to and from the airport were super convenient.Reviewed Jul 6 2021

Pros:The car was great. It was clean and a comfortable ride. No issues. Return was easy tooCons:They use the Avis shuttle but do not tell you that. I wanted 45 minutes for the shuttle until driver told me that they were also picking up Payless customers. Picking up the car was awful. They tried to charge me for an upgrade after saying they didn't have any cars in the class I reserved. Then the car they assigned me to was already occupied by another customer that was also assigned the same car. It took a long time to actually get the car I reserved. I felt like I was being scammed. A different employee helped me after I was assigned an occupied car. He was great. He gave me the car I had reserved and did it quickly. No problems after that. Also, I could not reach customer service by phone to ask about shuttle. Calls would not go through or were not answeredReviewed May 20 2021

Pros:Pickup was easy and quick, that's where the positives ended.Cons:The car was obviously not cleaned, there were crumbs in the steering wheel and change in the center console, the windshield was impossible to see though at night because it was so dirty (like it had been sprayed to be cleaned and never wiped off), the rearview mirror was broken and jiggled while the car was in motion. When it came time for drop-off, the address on the contract printout was incorrect so the GPS would have taken us the wrong way had we not realized it was obviously the wrong way.Reviewed May 18 2021

Cons:The Payless location was closed. I had to figure out with no signage at the Payless location or information on my reservation that the Avis location was servicing Payless customers. There was absolutely NO communication about this. I had to walk with 3 bags to the Avis location after being stranded at the Payless location. No one at Payless or Priceline could or wanted to help me. This caused me to be delayed by an hour, and it was an annoying and difficult situation do deal with.
