Cons:The claim I hadn’t filled the car up and then the rep walking away from me. When in fact I had filled the car up less than a mile from the drop off. Also being charged a whole extra day for bringing it back 2 hours late.Reviewed Oct 5 2020

Pros:THE drop off was easy. the pick up was not.Cons:From the time I landed hopped on the rental car bus to the time I was on the road was 2 hours (not good as I was on an emergency trip trying to get to the hospital to see a family member) The Payless window was not open. I along with others that rented with 1 of the three companies had to use the avis line. Even though I had reserved my car online I still had to wait in line. What is the point of doing it ahead of time if you still have to wait in the general line. I was asked if i wanted their toll coverage. pay in advance for tolls for a set price. even if you use a toll 1 time they would charge you 12.99 for every day of your rental. if you didn't choose it and used a toll they would charge you 7.99 a day plus the cost of the toll. I declined the coverage. I couldn't get a straight answer about the toll roads in the area or what to look for. I accidently used a toll as it was not clearly marked. The toll was .80! Fortunately I was smart enough to contact the toll agency to pay the toll before the bill was sent to the car rental company. I paid the .80 in lieu of paying $28.80 to payless. Also they offer you gas coverage. I understand it is a higher rate, but even if they only need to fill 2 gallons they will charge you for a whole tank. no thanks. I only used half a tank and there was a very convenient gas station on the exit to the rental return.Reviewed Sep 29 2020

No car available!Pros:The line was short...Cons:My flight was on time. I arrived to the car rental place on time. When I went to get my car, I was told that they did not have any cars, even though I made a reservation. The clerk told me that I could wait a while and see if a car came back, which I did. After almost an hour, still no cars. Now I was forced to find another place with cars so that I could get on to my conference. Renting a car from a car rental window, last minute cost significantly more. I had to pay twice as much as I had budgeted for a rental car and I wasted hours out of my day because they did not honor their end of the agreement. Never again!Reviewed Nov 6 2017

Cons:The company had extremely poor costumer service. The company "lost" the car or didn't complete inventory for days after I returned my rental car (which I returned on time and according to my agreement) and because they had not completed inventory and couldn't locate the car they tried to charge me for extra days. They overcharged me multiple times and it took me many calls to finally get my issues resolved and to receive a refund. The customer service was horrible throughout my entire experience. I will never rent with Payless again in the future.Reviewed Jul 6 2017

Pros:The car was very nice and pick-up was easy and efficient.Cons:It appears that the car had come off an open lot, perhaps under a tree, as their was lots of bird s..t. Also the counter person pretty much forced me to accept the automatic refueling option, telling me that they would simply remove the charge if I returned a full tank. I did and the person accepting the car could not remove the charge and sent me back to the customer service desk. There was a line and no attendant. Long story short it took 15 additional minutes to resolve the problem and it was fortunate that I had ample time to catch my flight.Reviewed Nov 7 2016

Poor customer servicePros:The rental was affordable and fuel efficient.Cons:Wow where should I start. I arrived at DFW at 0700 to pickup my rental (which was my reservation time) and found the Payless counter empty. Another customer explained that an employee came by at about 0645 and said he would be right back. After waiting until 0730 am the employee final walked up. He processed the gentleman in front of me and gave no apology for being 30 minutes late. My wife asked for an upgrade when checking in or alternatively the ability to bring the vehicle back 30 minutes later on our return date and was flatly told no. The night before the return we called Payless customer service to see if we could extend the rental by an hour and a half and were told that we would be charged $150 for the extra time. Mind you the rental was only supposed to cost $50 for 3 days! I'm extremely dissatisfied with Payless Customer service. Lesson learned. I will not rent from them again.Reviewed Jun 2 2017
