Orlando hotels near Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Cons: New bedroom decor is a disaster. Feels like a 70s nightmare and cheapens what used to feel like a luxury hotel. Same goes for the corridors leading to the rooms. The building of the Saphire Falls also ruins the outlook of the hotel. It used to feel like an idyllic South Pacific getaway. Now the view reminds you that you're just in another hotel block, so that special feel has gone. Lastly, charging to park in the hotel car park? Really? That really is fleecing your guests. over the years I've stayed at this hotel probably half a dozen times. I won't be back unless things change.

Cons: We really had no complaints. Our visit could not have gone any smoother.

Cons: The rooms needed some maintenance, and I cannot be the first ones to notice it. There was mildew in the shower on the ceiling that needed to be bleached. The shower leaked into the bathroom, because the original construction did not properly angle the tile to make the water drain back into the shower. The sink stopper did not stay plugged. The phone in the room did not work. Again, I cannot be the first person to notice all these. Why have they not been addressed?

Cons: I had a wet spot on my carpet and found a hair on a "clean" towel. I think this was probably because they were so busy due to it being Christmas, because I've stayed here twice before and never experienced issues before. Still disappointing though, for the price you pay to stay here, you don't expect any snags.

Cons: Room was unimpressive for the price, and not very clean. Found hair in the sheets. Service/food in restaurants was subpar.

Cons: Room gray colors. Like in a funeral home. It may be trendy, but not pleasant at all.Window view from Tower 2 shows a really neclected landscaping, which is incomprehensible in such nice otherwise hotel.

Cons: The beds/pillows are not very comfortable. While the pool area is nice, I wish there were a second “quiet,” or adult pool with additional hot tub. This hotel certainly caters to families, but not everyone has kids, and something less chaotic for relaxing would have been nice.

Cons: Found out the pool was closed for planned renovations only upon our check in. No previous notice. Kayak package didn't include park tickets; buying a cheaper package thru Kayak does not include everything that buying through Universal does TV in room didn't work. Had to complain twice and have twonvisit from engineering. After long day at parks (great days) disappointing to not be able to just relax by pool or in room

Cons: Parking $23 + tax per day or $29 plus tax valet parking. Priced cleverly so you will opt for valet. Either way this cost is just a way of adding $ to your bill. Make sure you factor in an extra $58 plus tax per overnight stay. As long as you know to account for it when booking then it's more palatable.

Cons: The only bad thing was Housekeeping...timing housekeeping to clean the room so it wouldn't cause a scene (barking, making the dog nervous) with our puppy was rough. We had come back from the parks and would wait up to 2 hours before we left for dinner. I called housekeeping to come in and clean the room, telling them that I will be out within the next 2 hours, so if they could send someone ASAP so we are with the puppy be that in the room or outside of it (the puppy would stay in the room while we would be out on dinner). No one ever came to turn our room over and we called front desk several times and waited the 2 hours. I guess housekeeping was MIA. So during our stay, we never got fresh towels and our beds was never made. Things could be worse though.

Cons: There was a mildew smell in our room. I was walking around barefoot and there were several large wet spots on the carpet. Really gross. So that explained the smell. We were in too big of a rush to get to our event to be able to request a different room.

Cons: The hotel restaurant the kitchen had very slow service. That could be because we were a party of 9 though. Food was very good though.

Cons: A bell hop came to our room to load our luggage on the cart and then stayed with it outside until I got my truck, but then my luggage was handed off to a vallet employee who loaded it in the vehicle. This made me feel like I had to tip two people when I felt the bell hop fully deserved the entire tip! I realize tipping is optional; however, both were performing a service for me and it put me in an uncomfortable position to either short someone, not pay someone, or pay more than I wanted to pay out for a tip. Also, I had asked for a late checkout and was granted one (thank you!), but this information was not communicated to the maid and it was obvious she was not happy (with me) about it.

Cons: Their first mistake was they messed up my reservation. I was booked for two days yet they only had me in their system for one day even though I was prepaid. When I told them at the front desk they did nothing about it. Instead they told me to call a reservations number. I felt that they should have taken ownership of the problem. On top of that I had reserved a VIP room that was supposed to include an upgraded room, breakfast, and complimentary hors d'oeuvres. I didn't receive that at the hotel refuse to do anything about it. If that wasn't enough it amazes me that hotels of that caliber charge for everything. You have a car to park it's $23 per day. If they received mail for you they charge by the pound. Need a document printed? This will cost you at least a dollar a page. There are fees and service charges for room service and just about everything that you could ask for. Many of their competition do not charge these ridiculous fees and often have complimentary Business Services. I'm not sure what their target market is but I personally would not visit them again. In Orlando there are far too many better choices.

Cons: We ordered food at the bar to take upstairs to the room & was told it would take about 20 minutes for a cheeseburger & hot dog with fries. After waiting about 25 minutes, it was finally ready - and although the fries were good, the hot dog came "naked" (and we're from Chicago, so expected at least an option of some condiments) and the burger was tasteless & dry - although it did come with tomato & some lettuce. You would be better off walking across the street to one of the chain restaurants for a quick bite or carryout...

Cons: Sometimes housekeeping would forget to fill toilet paper/kleenex etc. Overall cleanliness was just okay, some spots didn't seem clean (inside and outside of the rooms) The layout of the room was not very comfortable.

Cons: It tended to be a bit loud in the later evening, I was able to hear hallway noises quite easily. The shuttle to disney was expensive ($18/person) so we didn't make use of it.

Cons: Upon getting in we were immediately accosted by time share resort salespeople who were very aggressive and wanted us to pay a down payment to listen to their spiel. The shuttle (not affiliated with the hotel) to universal studios is only by advance booking and the booking person wasn't available in the afternoon, so you have to wake up early to hope you can reserve seats. It also takes an hour, so the alternative is an Uber or cab for about $10 twice a day - the hotel is really not within walking distance of the park. The rooms were fine but smelled a bit like old smoke and mildew, and they somehow ran out of towels for us and never brought them up. One night, our entire floor reeked of pot smoke (great for a hotel full of small kids) and the desk staff said they couldn't do anything because we didn't know where it was coming from. Overall decent for the price but not a luxury stay by any means.

Cons: Were do I start, the male reception staff are cold unfriendly and do not smile. The decor is out dated in the corridors and the room, feels like they brought in six million somkers and let them somke away, not good. The pillows are not pillows in the room they are cushions why!! The AC unit is to load, barely get through the night with the noise. The biggest issue we had was the shower, it felt like you may as well go outside and wait for rain to wash the shower gel/soap away. Reported this to reception, who said they will get it looked at, and nothing changed, make sure you add an extra 15-30 minutes to make sure you feel clean from soap. BW - you need to get this sorted, and fix the water pressure.
