Pros: I looked at a lot of other hotels before I booked, and I saw many of them in person after we arrived, and I’m so glad I chose Quinta Real Oaxaca. The best hotel in the city. Location is absolutely perfect, in the most upscale and boutique area, yet very close to all the more crowded and noisy touristic areas. Room size (208) was just fine, with a gorgeous window that opened to a little plaza across the street. There is very little noise because we had interior wooden shutters, gorgeous wooden windows, and then a modern window on the exterior of the building. Breakfast buffet was delicious, and the folkloric dance show was a highlight. Nice selection of toiletries and wonderful housekeeping and bellhops.

Pros: I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone. I traveled alone and the staff was so helpful in suggesting a driver to me who could take me to multiple sites. They were friendly and helpful about everything, down to the regular staff -- always pleasant and charming. There were always people washing down the steps and tiles. The place is spotless and absolutely charming. Chirping birds in hanging birdcages, a lovely courtyard with trees and tables, a small restaurant where I could get dinner if I didn't want to be out late in the City. Perfectly located just 1/2 block from the main square and walking distance to everything in central City. They made my stay there so easy and pleasant. I would go back there again and recommend them to everyone.

Cons: The sink stopper was not properly adjusted, but we made it work. No drawers for your underwear, but two small shelves could be used. We got a King size bed that nearly took the whole room. In the US you could get a larger room with King Size bed in a good location for the same price, therefore making the room in Mexico a bit pricy.

The bed was magnificent, with a thick set of mattresses high off the floor, lots of pillows, and the best sheets I've ever slept on. The ensuite sink/toilet/shower was perfect - spacious, clean, and the shower was HUGE and had plenty of hot water. The furniture was solid, and perfectly matched to the colonial style of the hotel. I loved the dressing table with large framed mirror. Very good value for money. Although no meals were included, the restaurant was open most of the day and was fine for simple meals.

The next day they left a beautiful fruit plate with a note of apology. We had a room with off the street and it was very quiet. Air conditioning worked well and Laura our room attendant made sure we had everything we needed.

We were on the lower floor and our room (104) was right in front of the area where the cleaning staff gathers their cleaning supplies, water etc and it was loud early in the mornings. The mattresses were not super comfortable. The breakfast was repetitive, chips with a different salsa each morning, I would have appreciated more variety.

Cons: We had NO hot water. This hotel claims to be pet-friendly on this website but we were surprised on check-in with Terri's flippant comment that dogs weren't allowed. I showed her the reservation sites which state that they allowed pets. She said the info was a mistake! I offered to leave for a refund but she permitted us to stay....As it was raining...We were grateful but cannot recommend this hotel since we couldn't even shower, the water was ice cold. I've since read that this is typical.

Cons: Our original room was reservation was not available when we arrived. We were moved to a room that was smaller in size and next to their conference rooms. This was not ok, because we were traveling with a toddler and an infant. The baby corral was not able to be used liked planned due to the lack of space. This caused a lot of concern for us, because now we had to figure out a way for our infant to sleep in the bed with us and not fall onto the tile floors. The conference rooms weren't loud, however being in and out of our rooms was awkward as their snack and coffee tables limited the space in the hallways (fire hazard by blocking hallways not an issue?) And dodging the conference attendees as they huddled around the tables. Lastly the beds were rock hard! Being one of the nicer hotels in the city, my expectations were higher for this hotel. A lot of renovation is needed.

Cons: The air conditioning was not that great. Our room was still kind of warm even when the air conditioning was put at 16 degree celcius. Other than that, the place was still very much very comfortable.

Cons: My boyfriend and I stayed here from October 5-8 2019. On the last night of our stay, our room was robbed. That night after dinner we had quickly dropped off our personal belongings in the room before heading to the hotel courtyard for an hour. Feeling tired we went back to our room where we caught someone in the act of escaping through our bathroom window. My boyfriend made a grab for the intruder, but he managed to escape. The hotel staff seemed apathetic at best and took little action when we frantically called for assistance. It seemed that my boyfriend was the only person springing to action. After checking the room to see what had been taken, we discovered cash missing from his wallet which was left sitting on the mattress. The hotel staff was unresponsive. They moved us to a different room, but we felt too uncomfortable to stay and booked another hotel nearby. What was even more unsettling, the next day a hotel staff member, who was present during the incident, had used my personal information from my reservation to find my Instagram account, followed me, and like personal photos. All and all it was a complete violation of our personal safety and privacy.

So no one knew what to do so I decided to buy a new shirt instead of wearing my wrinkle shirt...this was my second time staying here I’ll stay again only because the staff are super nice and rooms are pretty clean!

Pros: Great value for money, the buffet breakfast was extensive. Comfortable enough beds and pillows - its budget accommodation so don't expect luxury. We stayed in a few hotels in Oaxaca and this was the best in terms of value for money. The grounds are immaculate and the pool so nice to chill away the heat of the day by. Staff were nice and friendly.

Cons: The coffee was only decaf unfortunately ( restaurant ethos I imagine ). Need a taxi or bus to centre of Oaxaca ( to be fair, these are easy to get and inexpensive).

Cons: Could do with more sun loungers, only have 4. The walls are pretty thin but you can't really get away from street noise in the city, make sure you travel with airplugs if you're sensitive to such things. Our bathroom was pretty dated and shabby, though well cleaned.
