10,0 Excellent
Pros: I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone. I traveled alone and the staff was so helpful in suggesting a driver to me who could take me to multiple sites. They were friendly and helpful about everything, down to the regular staff -- always pleasant and charming. There were always people washing down the steps and tiles. The place is spotless and absolutely charming. Chirping birds in hanging birdcages, a lovely courtyard with trees and tables, a small restaurant where I could get dinner if I didn't want to be out late in the City. Perfectly located just 1/2 block from the main square and walking distance to everything in central City. They made my stay there so easy and pleasant. I would go back there again and recommend them to everyone.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Beautiful decore. Located near all the happenings. Got us a taxi when needed. Birds are great! Never bothered us at sleeping time, and entertained us during the day.
Cons: The sink stopper was not properly adjusted, but we made it work. No drawers for your underwear, but two small shelves could be used. We got a King size bed that nearly took the whole room. In the US you could get a larger room with King Size bed in a good location for the same price, therefore making the room in Mexico a bit pricy.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location. A couple of the Managers were nice and helpful. Small boutique hotel.
Cons: Breakfast was not that good and twice they didn't have basics like eggs, etc. Tiny bathroom. Hit my head on a hanging shelf. Workers hammered and sawed at night despite our request to Management to handle. Did give 25% off for that one night.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All the employees were very friendly and helpful. The room was decorated nicely and the bed was extremely comfortable. The entire hotel was immaculately clean. I would definitely go back. I totally recommend it.
Cons: The shower could have a little more pressure.

Pros: This is a late colonial bldg with about 22 rooms. The staff was gracious, friendly and helpful. I expect to stay here again on my next visit to Oaxaca.
Cons: It is a bit noisy but anyplace in the Centro historico will be noisy. The nights were quiet however.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Close to main attractions. We can cone back and rest. Terrace was wonderful. Very helpful staff
Cons: Pleasant to wake up to the chirping of birds but didn’t like they were caged

Casa de Siete Balcones Hotel Boutique - Oaxaca - Bedroom

9,2 Excellent (200 reviews)
R1 802+
Overview Reviews
Casa de Siete Balcones Hotel Boutique is located between Zócalo Square and Santo Domingo de Guzman Church, in Oaxaca’s historic centre. It offers elegant air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi and cable TV, and free Continental breakfast. Set in a charming colonial building, Casa de Siete Balcones has colourful traditional décor and a central courtyard. Rooms offer private bathrooms and most also have a balcony with city views. Casa de Siete Balcones is situated opposite the Oaxaca State Library and Contemporary Art Museum. The surrounding streets are full of shops, restaurants and museums. Staff at the hotel can provide information about the city.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were well presented.
Cons: There was no fridge in the room to keep anything in. The pictures of the place on the booking.com website are actually of the building next door which is misleading.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The real gem of La Casa de Siete Balcones is the hospitality of the staff! We traveled through Mexico for our honeymoon, with our toddler, and these folks went way out of the way to accommodate us. We arrived at 10 am, and they readied our room immediately, no waiting! We went out for dinner and came back to a room decorated for honeymooners- they had soccer balls for our son to play with, they took care to know when we would like breakfast, if we needed taxis, etcetera. This is the kind of place that distributes tourism money to the pockets of staff, whereas an airbnb beefs up the landlord. I would recommend simply using an airport taxi, their hired car is the cost of both ways. The breakfast is not robust, but it will get you started. Regardless of whether you partake in their breakfast, don't pass up the excellent Oaxacan coffee!

9,5 Excellent
Pros: The location was really good. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Good shower pressure.
Cons: Small tv. Bathroom though it was clean, looked a little old which makes the appear not clean. It probably needs some renovation.

Pros: The location was amazing- overlooking the pedestrian main thoroughfare a few blocks from the Zócalo and the old cathedral. The first night, we watched an Easter parade go by.
Cons: Naturally, it is very noisy, because of its amazing location. But when the balcony doors are shut, it was much quieter.

Pros: Quiet otherwise...beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. Close to Zocalo and restaurants.
Cons: The construction going on while we were here was noisy during the day. Took a number of attempts for machine to take payment to work. Very busy street in.front and next door to protest organizers.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location around the corner from the Zocalo and very handy to great cafes. Staff very friendly and helpful particularly Eli who speaks very good English. Good value for money breakfasts. Lovely clean rooms and small boutique building.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had the very cute upstairs suite. Very comfortable, very nice. This hotel is in one of the best locations in Oaxaca City. The breakfast freed was very good. A return trip, we were there 4 years ago as well. We will return, for sure!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, friendly staff, good value.
Cons: Rooms get stuffy, but if open windows to interior courtyard there are no security bars so it’s like leaving your door open. The first night was a hot, stuffy hell. After that we left the windows open, hoping that the lobby was secure, and we were nice and comfortable. We were fine, but....
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and the location excellent.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Location, breakfast, staff, comfortable beds, it was all good
Cons: One night we had an interior room which was a little confining--nice room, I just like an exterior window
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely space, helpful staff, good breakfast available, convenient location
Cons: Room without exterior window was a little stuffy but move to a room with balcony solved that problem
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is super accommodating and relaxed, everybody knows who you are and what room are you in. We left the door open by mistake at one point and nothing went missing from our luggage. The breakfast food is great in taste and hearty in portions. The location cannot be beat, it’s two streets away from the main plaza, 5 front Santo Domingo convent. It’s my second time staying there and I’ll go there again on my next visit.
Cons: At night there was a drunky-hobo tupe person walking around yelling stuff. He got picked up by the police but he screamed and yelled for a while before they brought he van to take him in for disorderly conduct. It’s bound to happen in a downtown area and he wasn’t violent or dangerous, just annoying cause it was like midnight and he was yelling loudly. Nothing to do with the hotel, but happened on the same street.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Good, affordable breakfast in the courtyard restaurant. Very helpful and friendly staff. Spacious room. Couldn’t get TV to work, but that turned out to be good. Beautiful courtyard . Easy access to lots of good museums, galleries and restaurants. Beautiful room. Helpful closet, spacious with hangers. Powerful ceiling fan with 5 different speeds.
Cons: Room with no outside windows was a little stuffy. Had to open my door and turn the fan on to get some air circulating. This would have been fine except that the door opens directly to the courtyard restaurant! I could have found considerably cheaper lodging by sacrificing a bit of privacy at one of the good hostals in town.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, good food, walking distance to lots of good places.
Cons: No A/C
Hotel Las Mariposas - Oaxaca - Bedroom

9,0 Excellent (423 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Oaxaca (Centro), Hotel Las Mariposas is within a 15-minute walk of Oaxaca Cathedral and Zocalo Square. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, a library, and a safe deposit box at the front desk.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and secure place. Very well kept.
Cons: N/A
8,8 Excellent
Pros: First off, it is in a wonderful location. It is only a few blocks away from the tourist hub around Santo Domingo and the Calle Macedonia Alcala, but is in a much quieter, beautiful, and much less commercialized neighborhood at the eastern edge of Oaxaca´s Centro. The rooms are simple, but beautifully decorated (I loved the Talavera sink and the Amate paper based wall hangings.) I also enjoyed sitting in the garden in front of my room. Staff is overall quite friendly and accommodating.
Cons: In actuality, this property is somewhere in between a hotel and what would be called ¨holiday apartments¨ in Europe. It´s not a luxury hotel, and lacks air conditioning, television, and extensive in room storage space. However, I knew this and anyone who has read the descriptions of the hotel would know this, so none of this was an issue. What bothered me was the clause in the contract mandating that we not bring guests into the hotel. I did not recall this information being communicated when I booked my room, and was given no notice of this until I was shown the contract with pen in hand, tired after a six hour bus ride. I am not entirely sure of the reason why they prevent individual guests, distinct from virtually every other hotel that I have had the pleasure of staying at. I only know that it caused an awkward situation when I, knowing they likely had no way of enforcing it, disregarded this provision and brought a friend into my room to enjoy his company in a fully legal manner - the typical right of any adult who books a hotel room. I would assume this rule arose out of a conflict between this property´s status as a hotel and a vacation apartment community. Also, breakfast could be more substantial and track later, and second floor rooms should have an additional fan because heat rises. The lack of air conditioning was mostly not a big deal, however, since I was mostly in the room at night.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good value
Cons: No tv or air conditioning
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic, safe, environmentally friendly, cute!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located near the city center. Just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Friendly staff who helped us get around and find everything in the city. Las Mariposas is definitely contributing to a better tomorrow.
7,5 Good
Pros: Eco friendly!!! Clean and convenience. Employees very attentive and helpful.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice big rooms and good courtyard
Cons: The breakfast was not ideal
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The structure is trying to be as environmental-friendly as possible. The patio is great, very relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: Breakfast is very simple, just pastries and coffee. I would expect more.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the breakfast terrace. Beautiful garden with excellent coffee and pastries. There is a Woman that comes in the morning to sell freshly made tamales which were more than the real deal!
Cons: No complaints
6,8 Good
Pros: Gorgeous property. Each room is like your own little bungalow with nice patio space. Great staff. Extremely clean and well maintained. Calm respite from the city streets.
Cons: Unbearably hot to stay in during summer months without A/C. No safes in the room. Small lockers near the main desk but nothing to put anything bigger than a loaf of bread in. Breakfast was extremely simple - freshly brewed coffee and store-bought pastry.

Pros: Friendly staff! Very clean room. The accommodation is lovely. The location of the hotel is very near to the center. Walking distance to shops and restaurants!
Cons: None
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Knew it was a mid-range hotel going in so did not expect a great restaurant, pool or other similar amenities promoted by higher end hotels. Room had excellent air conditioning, staff was fantastic (where else does the maid service make animal sculptures out of the towels every day?), location was very good, breakfast a bit weak, but a nice terrace and rooftop for lounging in the evening. Highly recommend
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and well taken of. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast on their terrace was a lovely way to start the day. The food was very good, fresh and thoughtfully prepared.
Cons: My room was located in the bottom of the complex with not enough outside air circulating to the room itself. as a consequence the room stayed too warm until late into the night. The housekeeping service was excellent, however.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Charming, nice terrace, pleasant staff and well located
Cons: Tiny bathroom with unpleasant plumbing odor
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, 10-15 mins walk from everything. I was a solo female traveler and I felt safe walking back to the hotel from a local bar round 1 AM. The staff was very helpful in helping me coordinate my excursions and helping me finding transportation. The rooms where very clean and accommodating. They had a television with Netflix which was a nice treat. They provided two complementary water bottles a day which was wonderful. Breakfast was available until pretty late most days. No need to wake up early.
Cons: The bed where a bit stiff for me.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: This property was great! It was very clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was good.
Cons: The location was a little further from the plaza than I would have liked.
6,8 Good
Pros: Little restaurant is a true bonus. People from other hotels came for this restaurant. We met two women from ‘across the street’ who enjoyed the restaurant and became nice friends. The menu was interesting and the food nicely presented as well as delicious!
Cons: Having someone available who could speak English! We often needed directions and suggestions but had to fend for ourselves. Booking needs to be ‘up front’ in telling non Spanish speaking folks like us about the language barrier. We had requested this and were told that ‘the manager’ spoke English. Booking did offer Spanish staff to negotiate our booking questions and this was helpful.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great terrace bar/restaurant. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated room overlooking a lovely garden. Terrific, friendly service from restaurant and reception staff. And a bonus for a non-Espanolian, they spoke good English. Location is a few hundred metres from all the major sites in Centro.
Cons: Nothing
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, great location and the staff was terrific.
Cons: No AC, small bathroom.

Pros: The location is perfect.
Cons: The staff is poorly trained, they couldn't solve usual hotel management issues (late check out, payment method, parking) IT'S A COMPLETE LIE THEY HAVE PARKING. You need to park 1/2 km away from the Hotel and the price is higher than the parking closer to the Hotel. IS NOT INCLUDED and you need to do it by yourself.

Pros: The location
Cons: The staff management. And the parking. The attitude from the lady that called us from check out was rude. Try to avoid her by any circumstance. The parking is a mess. IS NOT INCLUDED AS THEY SAY. You need to do it by yourself and they make you do it all by yourself. That and nothing is the same. Please remove the "Parking facility included" from your description.

Pros: Amazing location, very clean, helpful staff, and a lovely building
Cons: Our room was right off the dining room so we could hear any conversation going on there. The bed was very firm but not uncomfortable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, location close to everything. Home away from home!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent - easy to walk everywhere in the centro. The best part is the staff, they were amazing and went above and beyond to assist us. We had a lost passport situation and Briceyda was so incredibly helpful - she found a place to get a passport photo that was open late, called a taxi and arranged for the taxi driver to translate at the photo shop. Without her help, we might not have made our original flight! All of the reception staff were incredible, but Briceyda was wonderful!
Cons: Nothing! It was a perfect stay at Casa Antigua!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is very well situated for visitors, near important local sites, museums, etc.; restaurants and cafes; shopping. Good choice for physically challenged persons if you specify at time of making your reservation that you need a ground floor room. The ground floor rooms do not have windows, but the AC unit in these rooms provides decent air circulation and temperature control + the bathroom in my unit (Etla) was huge and clad in stone. My bed was super firm, and I like it that way; but if you’re into a soft mattress, not going to be your fave.
Cons: Acoustic separation is an issue because of the way in which the ventilation works for rooms facing the internal courtyard - the room transoms are designed to provide airflow between the rooms and the central courtyard. But that also means there isn’t a high level of acoustic separation. If you are sensitive to noise at night, bring earplugs. It’s not a major issue as long as you know this in advance.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The free continental breakfast was great. Rooms were very clean and they did a great job cleaning them every day. Staff was helpful when asked about tours or ordering us taxis.
Cons: We couldn’t exchange money at the hotel which was a little inconvenient.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely kind and helpful, we had a lovely stay.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Super last minute booking at late night, but was welcomed by friendly staff. The room only had interior windows, but it added the uniqueness to the place. Would stay here again!
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: That it was quite central to go to the main visiting activities, so walking distance to several places making it handy especially for the elderly. Also, friendly and helpful staff. Good quality food and spacious and nice rooms.
Cons: The price of a room with single beds was more expensive than the price for a room with a double bed, so it maybe should be the same price.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I had to leave too early to take advantage of the breakfast. I asked for an early wake up call and taxi for the airport and all were fulfilled so appreciate that much as my watch was not working.
Cons: All were good. Using names for the rooms makes remembering a little harder, though I wrote it down just in case.

Pros: The room was huge and the beds were very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the simple breakfast in the pretty courtyard each morning.
Cons: One day the cleaners left our windows open and there was someone smoking right next to the window, so it smelled like someone smoked right inside our room. That was disgusting! Also, the tours they booked for us were not really great quality. The tour that included Hierve el Agua did not have an air conditioned bus and it was very uncomfortable all day.

Pros: The location was perfect, close to everything in the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room and common area were lovely. We loved it!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful and the common areas were really well decorated and maintained. The bathroom was spacious and well decorated.
Cons: The ceiling in our room was low so it felt a little cramped. I think the other rooms have high ceilings though. Maybe try to avoid room 18.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very colonial beautiful rooms, very friendly staff and an amazing patio to chill.
Cons: It was a great stay!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, lovely staff and very clean
5,8 Okay
Pros: Courtyard dining area.
Cons: Photos look better than in real. Breakfast only limited to 2 local dishes. Advanced indication of the room being on the ground floor would have been appreciated. While the listing says "The staff speak English", in reality their English is very limited and most of the time not helpful.
5,7 Okay
Cons: shower had very little to now water at some point; water pressure was minimal, if any; hot water takes a good 5 minutes to start working, and then it is impossible to regulate. either you get burnt or freeze.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent hotel close to the heart of the city. The staff were great, the courtyard is relaxing and beautiful, and our accommodation was super comfy!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Courtyard Athmosphere
Cons: No breakfast for children included
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good and great for a morning perk up. It filled your belly in case you couldn't have lunch. The staff Juan Carlos made it feel very home like and no question was a silly question. Thank you Christopher for your restaurant recommendations.
Cons: I think having extra maleterras( suite case rack) for each guest would be helpful, especially for senior citizens who can not bend too low.

Pros: - Our room was large and comfortable. - Location was excellent - could walk everywhere from there but was not in the middle of it all - Staff were friendly and spoke some English (communication was sometimes a bit difficult) - The hotel itself is lovely - the courtyard, rooftop and pool areas were nice.
Cons: - Bed wasn't super comfortable - it was too soft and dipped in the middle of the mattress. Pillows were also not ideal - bit too large and gave us sore necks. - Wifi wasn't great in the room
9,5 Excellent
Pros: So friendly with plenty of English spoken.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Nice location! They have a resturant with nice and fast service.
Cons: The pool was not so good. Just a small thing where you can dip your feet.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The property was beautiful.
Cons: The lack of parking. You should not advertise free parking if you only have a limited amount available.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly and helpful people, very neat hotel !
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Love the look to the hotel. The location is great and the staff could not have been any nicer. I felt safe being here with my two daughters.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The service was great. Location was great. Complimentary drinks on arrival.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The first day the city shut off the power for the entire block which meant no electricity in the hotel. The stat assured us it would be back on by 6 pm and it was. The next day they left a beautiful fruit plate with a note of apology. We had a room with off the street and it was very quiet. Air conditioning worked well and Laura our room attendant made sure we had everything we needed.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, also the decoration, flowers, just about everything. The staff was kind and helpful, the hotel itself is very clean, comfortable and with a human touch.
Cons: The description on Booking.com says the hotel has a swimming pool. Unfortunately, this is not true, what the hotel has is just a small and very shallow pool of water good to refresh your feet. You definitely cannot swim there. Moreover, the pool is located at a place where people sit and eat, so it would be rather odd to come, take off your clothes and lie down on the ground near the pool. First there is no space for that and second it would even loook inappropriate.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Well located next to the city center Estacionamiento (Parking) was included
7,5 Good
Pros: The location
Cons: The smell that came from the bathroom
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is well managed, secured, and amigable. The best part about it is that it so close to the zócalo, Santo Domingo, Alcalá street and more tourist attractions.
Cons: There is nothing not to like. The price is a bit high, but you’re paying for the city location which cannot be beaten.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful courtyard. Cosy room with a cute little walled courtyard. Lovely front desk staff. Great location. Filtered water available so no need to use plastic bottles
Cons: Not much at all
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and accommodating staff
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect, woke up to birds from the courtyard instead of traffic noise, staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: There was a funky smell in the room even though it was clean, and as we couldn’t change rooms (they were full) the staff put fragrant flowers and an aromatic vessel to try to help, which it did somewhat.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Nice quiet room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The complimentary breakfast was just amazing and the entire hotel was just adorable. The location was perfect, since it was only one block away from the ❤️ Of the city (Zócalo). In addition, it’s right across from Shopping and el Mercadito.
Cons: I didn’t appreciate that we were left without any towels one day and constantly had to ask for additional toilet paper after our third night.
7,0 Good
Pros: It's right next to the Zocalo and a lot of good markets, very central and clean. It was great to have AC, the courtyard was very pretty and relaxing to lounge in. The staff was very polite
Cons: Sounds carry easily. We were on the lower floor and our room (104) was right in front of the area where the cleaning staff gathers their cleaning supplies, water etc and it was loud early in the mornings. The mattresses were not super comfortable. The breakfast was repetitive, chips with a different salsa each morning, I would have appreciated more variety.
7,5 Good
Pros: Great location in the heart of Oaxaca, simple but charming hotel. Easy to book tours from their own tour desk in the lobby. Most of staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast basic but OK.
Cons: For the same price, the rooms differ greatly in comfort and amenities. We booked two rooms for our stay - one of them was spacious, airy and light with windows that opened into the courtyard below. The second one - for the same price - was dark, dingy and cramped with hardly any natural light and appeared to overlook the building shaft where the bathrooms were. Also there was no hot water in this room for the first 3 days. Finally they fixed this on the third day. This room was just awful. The hotel needs to be transparent when making your booking so you know exactly what you are getting.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location of hotel was centrally located to all sites, restaurants, musuems. Loved having a view of the courtyard from my window. Walked everywhere to explore this culturally diverse city.
3,7 Mediocre
Pros: The location was good...... Close to Centro. Coffee, yogurt, granola and papaya were nice for breakfast.
Cons: We had NO hot water. This hotel claims to be pet-friendly on this website but we were surprised on check-in with Terri's flippant comment that dogs weren't allowed. I showed her the reservation sites which state that they allowed pets. She said the info was a mistake! I offered to leave for a refund but she permitted us to stay....As it was raining...We were grateful but cannot recommend this hotel since we couldn't even shower, the water was ice cold. I've since read that this is typical.
5,5 Okay
Pros: Great location and bed. Either no water at all and when there was water it was cold. They would bring you a pail if hot water if requested.... doing construction starting a 6am. No sleep in spite of good bed
Cons: Hot water. Water. No construction

Cons: The only thing I would have liked was water bottles every day. You can't drink the water there and they only provided water 2x in the seven days of our stay.
5,0 Okay
Cons: There was no sign of Management during our 7 day stay. One night we were only 2 guests at the hotel and they left all of the public areas in darkness and only upon request did they turn on the floor lights.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: an oasis of gardens, terraces outside the rooms, very soothing staff was excellent, service rapid chef was excellent and very obliging dining area is in a beautiful setting, covered outdoor gardens fabulous Oaxacan coffee
Cons: Too far from town if you want to spend most of your time in the stores, museums, churches but taxi ride only 100 pesos each way and never much of a wait for a taxi. Remember most taxis do not have seatbelts, AC, and some have no insurance and are not in very good condition. Drivers are always pleasant and drive safely otherwise.

Pros: Grounds were nice and beautiful. There is a pool (although the water is a little chilly). Big buffet breakfast for an extra fee.
Cons: The bathtub leaked water in one room and the toilet made annoying sounds in the other room. Room only had 2 towels even though there were two adults and two children. There was a notice saying that if a towel was on the floor it would be changed. If it was hanging up, it wouldn't be. All this to help the environment. However, we hung up the towels every day and they were changed every day. It is not walking distance to the city center.
