Pros: Oaxaca ambience, hotel amenities and service, location
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Property was a beautiful, formal, luxury hotel. Staff was amazing, our room was quite large and very quiet.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We loved everything about Quinta Real Oaxaca - it was like a dream come true!!
Cons: There was nothing that I didn't like
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I love the fact most employees have been there for a long time and treat you as you are part of the family!
Excellent 9,5
Pros: The hotel was beautiful, full of charm and in a central location to see Oaxaca.
Cons: It was very expensive
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful hotel with so much history. Great service; professional and personable staff.
Excellent 9,5
Pros: Lovely architecture, staff, food. The service we received was wonderful and our experience was great. The location is optimal.
Cons: I thought the value was a little too high. We were upgraded as a courtesy becuase it was our honey moon to an interior versus exterior room, yet still charged, which doesn't make it a courtesy in my view.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: It was beautiful, clean and comfortable.
Cons: The staff were sullen and neither friendly nor helpful.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: A lot of children at the pool- not a very relaxing pool experience
Cons: Everything was amazing and the facilities are amazing. However the pool is full of loud children and not relaxing like the picture depict
Excellent 8,8
Pros: location was unbeatable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Perfectly located, beautiful grounds and pool, large clean room, attentive service- what more could you ask for? My 22 year old daughter didn't want to leave. Neither did I, will certainly return.
Cons: Nada! Great place on quiet street so close to everything
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We loved the whole hotel, beautiful gardens and pool area. The bedroom was fantastic and super comfy! PLUS, amazing location, close to the cathedral and good restaurants!
Cons: Nothing bad

Pros: I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone. I traveled alone and the staff was so helpful in suggesting a driver to me who could take me to multiple sites. They were friendly and helpful about everything, down to the regular staff -- always pleasant and charming. There were always people washing down the steps and tiles. The place is spotless and absolutely charming. Chirping birds in hanging birdcages, a lovely courtyard with trees and tables, a small restaurant where I could get dinner if I didn't want to be out late in the City. Perfectly located just 1/2 block from the main square and walking distance to everything in central City. They made my stay there so easy and pleasant. I would go back there again and recommend them to everyone.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
Excellent 9,5
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Beautiful decore. Located near all the happenings. Got us a taxi when needed. Birds are great! Never bothered us at sleeping time, and entertained us during the day.
Cons: The sink stopper was not properly adjusted, but we made it work. No drawers for your underwear, but two small shelves could be used. We got a King size bed that nearly took the whole room. In the US you could get a larger room with King Size bed in a good location for the same price, therefore making the room in Mexico a bit pricy.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: Location. A couple of the Managers were nice and helpful. Small boutique hotel.
Cons: Breakfast was not that good and twice they didn't have basics like eggs, etc. Tiny bathroom. Hit my head on a hanging shelf. Workers hammered and sawed at night despite our request to Management to handle. Did give 25% off for that one night.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: All the employees were very friendly and helpful. The room was decorated nicely and the bed was extremely comfortable. The entire hotel was immaculately clean. I would definitely go back. I totally recommend it.
Cons: The shower could have a little more pressure.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff was amazing and provided me with phenomenal recommendations.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: charming ambiance, comfy beds and very nice, super friendly staff. Bonus for a very good restaurant. Great neighborhood, walk in distance to best restaurants.
Cons: nothing
Excellent 9,5
Pros: This is a late colonial bldg with about 22 rooms. The staff was gracious, friendly and helpful. I expect to stay here again on my next visit to Oaxaca.
Cons: It is a bit noisy but anyplace in the Centro historico will be noisy. The nights were quiet however.
Excellent 9,5
Pros: Close to main attractions. We can cone back and rest. Terrace was wonderful. Very helpful staff
Cons: Pleasant to wake up to the chirping of birds but didn’t like they were caged
Excellent 10,0
Pros: This was a lovely and charming hotel, extremely well located, beautifully appointed rooms, wonderful ambiance and with a great restaurant. The staff was very attentive and helpful, the restaurant service and food were excellent, the room very comfortable with 2 queen beds a good size bathroom, a nice sitting area and quiet at night.
Excellent 9,5
Pros: Air conditioning in the rooms works really well. Loved the decor and all the birds in cages throughout the hotel. Restaurant is very good. Very comfortable and secure hotel. Close to the zocalo.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything about the hotel was great. Location was perfect, only a couple blocks from the Zocalo, Very clean and quiet. Bathroom was huge.

Excellent 8,3
Pros: Location was excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were well presented.
Cons: There was no fridge in the room to keep anything in. The pictures of the place on the booking.com website are actually of the building next door which is misleading.
Excellent 9,5
Pros: The real gem of La Casa de Siete Balcones is the hospitality of the staff! We traveled through Mexico for our honeymoon, with our toddler, and these folks went way out of the way to accommodate us. We arrived at 10 am, and they readied our room immediately, no waiting! We went out for dinner and came back to a room decorated for honeymooners- they had soccer balls for our son to play with, they took care to know when we would like breakfast, if we needed taxis, etcetera. This is the kind of place that distributes tourism money to the pockets of staff, whereas an airbnb beefs up the landlord. I would recommend simply using an airport taxi, their hired car is the cost of both ways. The breakfast is not robust, but it will get you started. Regardless of whether you partake in their breakfast, don't pass up the excellent Oaxacan coffee!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Location, excellent staff, clean
Cons: N/a
Excellent 9,5
Pros: The location was really good. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Good shower pressure.
Cons: Small tv. Bathroom though it was clean, looked a little old which makes the appear not clean. It probably needs some renovation.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: The location was amazing- overlooking the pedestrian main thoroughfare a few blocks from the Zócalo and the old cathedral. The first night, we watched an Easter parade go by.
Cons: Naturally, it is very noisy, because of its amazing location. But when the balcony doors are shut, it was much quieter.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: What a gem. The hotel was comfortable and very close to all the activities in the city’s center. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We’d stay here again.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Best location in the city center. Staff: Julia, Janet and Lisbeth are very helpful and caring. The hotel is very homey and very personalize. The ambiance and decor - is just amazing
Cons: None
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Location, staff, service, rooms
Cons: Didn’t dislike anything, just a small suggestion: the rate could include a full breakfast
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Location was great Staff were extremely polite and helpful Mangoes at breakfast were delicious
Cons: The towels and sheets felt a little old and worn out. The room and bathroom had a few mosquitoes the first night although when I told staff they did spray the room and it was fine the second night
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff

Pros: Spacious clean room, delicious breakfast, comfortable bed, great location and an extremely helpful staff make this small hotel a welcoming retreat and a great place to stay. The peaceful trickle of water from a courtyard fountain sets the mood. Plants, birds and artwork amplify the serenity. Located on part of an old aqueduct in an artistic, happening part of the city, with nearby sights and restaurants. Staff arranged airport pickup and tour at our request.
Cons: Great Oaxacan specialties, homemade breads and jams fresh fruits, juices, eggs and coffees as breakfast options. Wish cereal was an option too.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Staff was exceedingly helpful and kind, very much a close, B&B type feel.

Excellent 9,5

Pros: Quiet otherwise...beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. Close to Zocalo and restaurants.
Cons: The construction going on while we were here was noisy during the day. Took a number of attempts for machine to take payment to work. Very busy street in.front and next door to protest organizers.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location around the corner from the Zocalo and very handy to great cafes. Staff very friendly and helpful particularly Eli who speaks very good English. Good value for money breakfasts. Lovely clean rooms and small boutique building.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We had the very cute upstairs suite. Very comfortable, very nice. This hotel is in one of the best locations in Oaxaca City. The breakfast freed was very good. A return trip, we were there 4 years ago as well. We will return, for sure!
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Excellent location, friendly staff, good value.
Cons: Rooms get stuffy, but if open windows to interior courtyard there are no security bars so it’s like leaving your door open. The first night was a hot, stuffy hell. After that we left the windows open, hoping that the lobby was secure, and we were nice and comfortable. We were fine, but....
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The staff were very helpful and the location excellent.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Location, breakfast, staff, comfortable beds, it was all good
Cons: One night we had an interior room which was a little confining--nice room, I just like an exterior window
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Lovely space, helpful staff, good breakfast available, convenient location
Cons: Room without exterior window was a little stuffy but move to a room with balcony solved that problem
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff is super accommodating and relaxed, everybody knows who you are and what room are you in. We left the door open by mistake at one point and nothing went missing from our luggage. The breakfast food is great in taste and hearty in portions. The location cannot be beat, it’s two streets away from the main plaza, 5 front Santo Domingo convent. It’s my second time staying there and I’ll go there again on my next visit.
Cons: At night there was a drunky-hobo tupe person walking around yelling stuff. He got picked up by the police but he screamed and yelled for a while before they brought he van to take him in for disorderly conduct. It’s bound to happen in a downtown area and he wasn’t violent or dangerous, just annoying cause it was like midnight and he was yelling loudly. Nothing to do with the hotel, but happened on the same street.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Good, affordable breakfast in the courtyard restaurant. Very helpful and friendly staff. Spacious room. Couldn’t get TV to work, but that turned out to be good. Beautiful courtyard . Easy access to lots of good museums, galleries and restaurants. Beautiful room. Helpful closet, spacious with hangers. Powerful ceiling fan with 5 different speeds.
Cons: Room with no outside windows was a little stuffy. Had to open my door and turn the fan on to get some air circulating. This would have been fine except that the door opens directly to the courtyard restaurant! I could have found considerably cheaper lodging by sacrificing a bit of privacy at one of the good hostals in town.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Clean room, good food, walking distance to lots of good places.
Cons: No A/C

Pros: Great location and secure place. Very well kept.
Cons: N/A
Excellent 8,8
Pros: First off, it is in a wonderful location. It is only a few blocks away from the tourist hub around Santo Domingo and the Calle Macedonia Alcala, but is in a much quieter, beautiful, and much less commercialized neighborhood at the eastern edge of Oaxaca´s Centro. The rooms are simple, but beautifully decorated (I loved the Talavera sink and the Amate paper based wall hangings.) I also enjoyed sitting in the garden in front of my room. Staff is overall quite friendly and accommodating.
Cons: In actuality, this property is somewhere in between a hotel and what would be called ¨holiday apartments¨ in Europe. It´s not a luxury hotel, and lacks air conditioning, television, and extensive in room storage space. However, I knew this and anyone who has read the descriptions of the hotel would know this, so none of this was an issue. What bothered me was the clause in the contract mandating that we not bring guests into the hotel. I did not recall this information being communicated when I booked my room, and was given no notice of this until I was shown the contract with pen in hand, tired after a six hour bus ride. I am not entirely sure of the reason why they prevent individual guests, distinct from virtually every other hotel that I have had the pleasure of staying at. I only know that it caused an awkward situation when I, knowing they likely had no way of enforcing it, disregarded this provision and brought a friend into my room to enjoy his company in a fully legal manner - the typical right of any adult who books a hotel room. I would assume this rule arose out of a conflict between this property´s status as a hotel and a vacation apartment community. Also, breakfast could be more substantial and track later, and second floor rooms should have an additional fan because heat rises. The lack of air conditioning was mostly not a big deal, however, since I was mostly in the room at night.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Good value
Cons: No tv or air conditioning
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Fantastic, safe, environmentally friendly, cute!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very well located near the city center. Just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Friendly staff who helped us get around and find everything in the city. Las Mariposas is definitely contributing to a better tomorrow.
Good 7,5
Pros: Eco friendly!!! Clean and convenience. Employees very attentive and helpful.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Nice big rooms and good courtyard
Cons: The breakfast was not ideal
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The structure is trying to be as environmental-friendly as possible. The patio is great, very relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: Breakfast is very simple, just pastries and coffee. I would expect more.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I loved the breakfast terrace. Beautiful garden with excellent coffee and pastries. There is a Woman that comes in the morning to sell freshly made tamales which were more than the real deal!
Cons: No complaints
Good 6,8
Pros: Gorgeous property. Each room is like your own little bungalow with nice patio space. Great staff. Extremely clean and well maintained. Calm respite from the city streets.
Cons: Unbearably hot to stay in during summer months without A/C. No safes in the room. Small lockers near the main desk but nothing to put anything bigger than a loaf of bread in. Breakfast was extremely simple - freshly brewed coffee and store-bought pastry.

Pros: The overall installations of the hotel are pleasant. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The location is easy accessible, located on an well connected avenue.
Cons: Some minor details in the maintenance of the room. For example there was some rust on the bathroom. And the drawers in the room were poorly adjusted making them hard to open and close. The AC was a bit too loud.
Okay 4,5
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Requested an additional bath towel as we pay for 3 guests and had to call multiple times to get it. Asked the front desk for a closer room, after he offered one on the third floor, as my mother in law could walk due to her hip and we got a room on the first floor on the opposite side of the hotel Walls are very thin, woke up at 7 am to kids jumping and making noise from the room upstairs
Good 7,5
Pros: Great pool Friendly staff Amazing food
Cons: Far from downtown not a lot to do around the hotel itself but they do have a free shuttle bus

Pros: We highly recommend this place! Very friendly and helpful staff (especially guy behind the desk and concierge). The rooms are cleaned everyday. There is hot water and everyday free bottles of water. The pool is a great way to start or finish your day. Also not too busy. We extended our stay because we liked both the beautiful city and the hotel that much. Cons: Nothing loved it all
Okay 5,0
Cons: The main reason we chose this hotel was because of the pool and it was closed during our entire stay. Apart from that the hotel and amenities are very basic, the room was noisy, and beds uncomfortable. We ended up changing hotels for the last night and regretted not having changed before.

Pros: Very clean and quiet. Nice breakfast area with simple but wholesome continental breakfast. Short walk to the main plaza. Close to the bus terminal.
Cons: The beds were clean, but very old and basic. Perhaps a pillow top upgrade can fix that. Also, breakfast was advertised at 7:30 a.m. However, coffee and other items were not completely ready until 8:00 a.m.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Fantastic room, great staff, good breakfast, location was good too.
Cons: There is a gym next door that can be a bit noisy, but they warn you about this and it becomes quiet at night
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The hotel nice and quite..
Cons: In boking you get one price and when you arrive to the hotel the ask me to pay on one more kids. I didnt pay but its was very not good way for me to start the vication.. The location is allitle bit far feon the cantro.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Attention from staff.
Cons: One of the beds isn't cleaned.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Although the Wi-Fi didn't work in our room, the staff took around 15% of the price off when paying, which I thought was very fair. It was quieter than I expected, given that there is a box-style gym next door and we went at the height of the Day of the Dead celebrations!
Cons: Wi-fi, and maybe something warm for breakfast? More fruit too?
Good 7,0
Pros: The location was great, not to close and not to far. It was clean. It's ok for a short stay.
Cons: An AC is almost must in this Hotel...it was always solo warm. The ventilator was working but it was very loud and made a clicking noise so it was really hard to fall asleep with it.

Pros: Central location, friendly staff. Simple room good value for money. Breakfast included!! Wifi good

Cons: Could have had some fruit for continental breakfast not so much bread

Pros: Lovely, colourful outdoor space. Good breakfast. Very nice staff. We ended up staying longer than originally planned.
Good 7,0
Pros: It is basic but good a bed and a shower. The staff don’t speak English but friendly and got there with google translate.
Cons: Space no bunk beds nice shower

Pros: Great location, super friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, great Breakfast.
Good 6,3
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful even with communication barrier. I liked that the front door was locked. Nice simple breakfast. Cheap price.
Cons: Location not great - many other better options closer to restaurants, zocalo, etc. Noisy from other guests. The room was a bit stuffy - not enough fresh air. Shower water pressure very weak - could not wash my hair.
Okay 5,8
Pros: The breakfast is good
Cons: Not super clean. The shower and toilets outside could be better ! The room is very small and smelly !
Excellent 8,8
Pros: - Very beautiful hotel - Nice little rooms - Good breakfast - Helpful and friendly staff - Well located - Beautiful rooftop
Cons: - Cold water in the shower
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, beautiful building and good breakfast (actually enough food to call it breakfast), and comfortable bed. Awesome socializing spaces on the roof, at the dining area, and other spaces with couches and games. Fantastic and large kitchen. BUT, there were not many people here when I stayed and I had the dorm room all for myself. However, I can see the inconveniences with the restrooms/showers and noise from the community space mentioned by other reviewers. With that said, my experience was great!
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Great location, friendly staff. Broken shower head? Fixed the same day.
Good 6,8
Pros: The location and the value for money!
Cons: Not super comfortable and the staff not super knowledgeable!by chance...not friendly, open and willing to share Customers...all with one specific focus...quite frustrating!
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Nice place overall. Lots of outdoor seating areas. They let you borrow bikes to bike around the city for free. The staff were really nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. The room was clean and even had a lockable locker for your stuff.
Cons: The shower was filthy. It really needed a good cleaning. The light switch needs repair and was flickering as I turned it on. The room did not have AC but did have a working fan, which is to be expected at this price point.
Excellent 9,3
Pros: Breakfast and place

Excellent 9,3
Pros: Their friendly staff, specially the night shift guy. Sorry I dont remember his name. Thank you for your great service.
Cons: The quiet environment.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Good sized room
Cons: Just a little dark as it was facing another room
Excellent 9,3
Pros: We liked the size of the room Hab. 35. We had 2 comfortable double beds. Lots of room for us. The Hotel has a lift. The hotel is in an excellent location around the corner from the Zocalo and 2 great markets. The Hotel and room were very clean.
Cons: We only had hot water on our first day, irregardless of what time we showered. We stayed in room 35 and until the early hours all you can hear is music from a bar across the road. The door for the room didn't close properly and at times we woke up to find it open.
Good 7,0
Pros: The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful.
Cons: The hotel is located in a very commercial area which is unattractive. On the other hand, the location is good because it is only two blocks away from the main plaza or Zocalo. Also, across the hotel, there is a mini market which is very convenient.
Okay 5,7
Pros: Convenient location, clean and good value
Cons: Very noisy neighborhood with bar and disco location next door.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Great location. Rooms are modern and functional and have air conditioning, which is a plus for Oaxaca.
Cons: The rooms on the main floor are not great due to poor light and mine had a stench of the sewer.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Great location, a few blocks from the center and a great market.
Cons: The beds are incredibly hard, the housekeeping staff was very loud early in the morning and our room was right next to the laundry room. So didn’t get a ton of sleep.
Good 7,5
Pros: Location Bathroom Room size
Cons: Clerk woman at reception is extremely rude.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Great location, good price-value place. If you just want a place to sleep, it's great.
Cons: There is some noise from near by bars at night.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: Location... Location.. Customer service!! Very clean!!
Cons: The air conditioning unit in room did not work but Had cool breeze from open window and wall fan!! Although I did Not report it first day... It got hotter last 2 days. Also my room was close to at times restaurant loud music . Otherwise very good I would repeat staying but will check room first. Has elevator!
Good 6,3
Cons: You have to give your room key everytime you leave the hotel and then the front desk guy gives out your key to anyone who says the room number. NO NAMES OR IDs asked even when they don’t know who’s staying in the room. Also, beds are very uncomfortable and room lighting is sad
