Guesthouse Kellia - Monemvasia - Building
1
9,4 Excellent (379 reviews)
R1 173+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Guesthouse Kellia in Monemvasia, you'll be just steps from Agia Sofia Church and Archaeological Collection of Monemvasia.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location of Hotel Kellia is perfect and there is excellent wayfinding signage as you navigate your way through the alleyways of Monemvasia. The unit was really well styled in an authentic Greek decor. We love the balcony overlooking the square and the breakfast offering was superb. Note that you can't access Monemvasia by car but can park on the hill before entering the village gate.
Cons: Typical of small Greek villages the local infrastructure meant there was a bad scent in the bathroom from the sewerage. May have just been the one day we visited, however.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, great location and nice breakfast!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel had an excellent location at the furthest end of town in front of a small, quiet square and close to the water’s edge. It was away from the hustle and bustle and allowed us to enjoy a very peaceful break in Monemvasia. The room was clean and full of character. Breakfast was brilliant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended!
Cons: Nothing
7,5 Good
Pros: view from grounds outside room no.4 was amazing. Stella, who provided us with lovely freshly prepared breakfast daily was outstanding. Relaxed atmosphere where you could sit and read or people watch.
Cons: Room 4 was overlooking grounds of walled city. However, the window and door views were accessible to passers by. Limited space in actual room - suitable only for sleeping Please ensure that footwear is suitable for cobbled stones and irregular steps - some slippery throughout the inner castle area. Request an accurate guide to your hotel in order to avoid longer routes - large suitcases are not advisable, even although there are porters available at a cost.

4,6 Okay
Cons: There was a moldy smell in the bathroom when we arrived and mold spots on the shower cuertain, plus the front desk briefly "lost" my passport , and asked if I was even sure I gave it to them-- not very good confidence builder

Pros: The whole experience
Cons: Nothing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: A huge thank you to our host, who took care of us upon arrival. She and her mum recommended us some restaurants and activities around the area as we travelled to Monemvasia for the first time. The accommodation itself was great and reminded of a more natural, stone build in architecture. Our room was at the highest point of the lower town, which gave us a great view from the balcony to the sea. The room had basic equipment, but definitely enough. Bed was comfy and the room was very clean.
Cons: The shower drain was very slow, we almost flooded the bathroom when taking a shower for 2 minutes. But i guess it had to do with the pipeline on the island.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay. The owner and staff have a pure love and appreciation for Monemvasia and the beautiful building that makes the hotel as well. And that's clear from the moment they welcome you, with cool mint water and a map to show you recomendations of where to go , where to eat and what to see, in and out of the Castle . Located at Chrysafitissa Square , it's the perfect place to enjoy the night breeze and an enchanting view. It's a bit of a walk from the entrance to the castle , but an easy one in terms of elavation and complexity to find. We stayed at Ioustini room , which has a lovely private balcony with views to both the sea and the rock of Monemvasia. The room was cleaned daily , it was spacious and well ventilated. Highly recommended , looking forward to stay at Theophano Art Hotel again.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It’s not a hotel but a bed and breakfast and.......one of the most beautiful houses in Monemvasia. We stayed in the deluxe suite with balcony, with a wide view over the sea. Very quiet! All the tourists stay in the main street so, no worries about crowds of tourist passing by. Breakfast is prepared with love and together with classic music, you feel at ease.
Cons: Everything is very nice
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It’s location although a bit of a walk was lovely. It had its own balcony which was nice to spend time on.
Cons: Stairs to room was a bit steep and a handrail would be a good idea.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything here. The owners are very nice and welcomed us with lemon water and gave us a map plus recommendations where to eat or what to do and see. The room was big and super cute! Even when we left they offered us coffee plus delicious cake! Love the art!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The owners of the place are really friendly, give you many valuable tips and make you feel at home - the city is beautiful and unique! Definitely a place to recommend

9,2 Excellent
Pros: A very unique hotel for area placed directly at the sea and including a swimming pool. We had the pool area mostly for ourselves during the stay and it worked very well (parent and two teenagers, who liked to relax in a sunbed). In the little nearby harbour around the corner, you can take a swim in the sea. You have a 5 km/min drive to Monemvasia with shopping, restaurant and the old town, so the hotel provides an easy combination of the beautiful city and pool life. The staff is very friendly and the shared kitchen for the ten rooms is supplied with fresh oranges and eggs - that's almost haft the breakfast, but you have to prepare it yourself :-)
Cons: The shared kitchen is not that big, and it may quickly become a bit crowed if two families are preparing a meal and eat at the same time. Anyway, the shared kitchen gives an opportunity to prepare some meals at the hotel and save some money on the holiday budget for other activities.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great swimming pool, great sea view, very comfy room and very friendly staff. Good price
Cons: No breakfast included
9,6 Excellent

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Authentic and elegant hotel. Staff: friendly and professional.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amaizing view, exceptional location, unbelievable ruality for the confort.
7,5 Good
Pros: The location is wonderful, inside the castle, with great, quiet balconies and unique view to the sea. It's built like a traditional house in the castle and you really enjoy staying there. The room was quite clean while breakfast was moderate - not bad, not great.
Cons: (1) I feel that rooms are a bit smaller than they seem to be in the photos. (2) I also think that the service could be improved - maybe I would expect a warmer welcome on the reception and infos about the place, recommendations etc. (3) It seemed that the hotel was a bit understaffed (at least during this period of time): there was one lady responsible to cook breakfast, serve breakfast and clean all the tables in the same time and then she went straight to the cafe to serve clients. Overall, I believe that you're mostly paying for living inside the castle & the location. But service is not value for money.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent all
Cons: The size of the room was a bit small But normal for castle room.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Monemvasia is one of the most magical places I have ever visited and the hotel was at the best location with an amazing view of the sea! The breakfast was rich... and we fell in love with "singlino" meat that was served every morning! Friendly and helpful staff!!!
Cons: Nothing really!

Cons: Nothing. The perfect holidays place.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location and friendliness - nice rooms too.
5,4 Okay
Pros: The view
Cons: The small shower with the curtain.it
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location. Top balcony in the whole town. Yes, it’s also furthest from the city gate, but let’s be honest. Malvasia is not a big town, so not that far. And a great bar with a mean mojito.
7,9 Good
Cons: poor wi fi connection..signal was good in the balcony but poor inside. .But it's a big complex so i am assuming rooms closer to the rooter get better signal.

4,6 Okay
Pros: The only posite side was the kindness of Katerina
Cons: The manager was rude, when asking about changing room he did not propose a solution but complained about the choice of the room. Breakfast was poor : always same and recicled day after day. Shower of the room too tiny and uncomfortable. No map available! Last but not least, staff did not speak english at all..it was frustrating asking something and never be understood.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hosts and also was the breakfast that could be eaten outdoor :). And in the homeland of olives (Greece) I got olives at the breakfast. Welldone!
Cons: Nothing. The only thing that could be improved was the weather: the wind was strong 7 days in a row :(
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and very friendly staff.
Cons: During the first days of our stay the water in the swimming pool was not clean, last two days the pool was refreshed.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely 3 day stay at this quiet, family run hotel. The location was perfect for day trips to Monemvasia, Elafanisos etc We were happy to discover a lovely beach only 5 minutes from the hotel. We particularly loved the breakfast, most of which was home / freshly made each morning - a delicious spread of food - in my own experience one of the best buffet breakfasts we have had and a great way to start the day. The swimming pool was lovely and big enough for everyone to enjoy. The hotel owners were very friendly and warm, greeting us whenever we met, and this made our stay extra special and memorable.
Cons: Wifi was patchy at best and pretty slow (though this could be due to the location of the hotel . Also possibly bandwidth issues i.e. sharing the Wifi connection with the other hotel guests). The bathroom facilities are probably in need of a refresh (especially the shower). The kitchen facilities also could do with a refurb and a few more utensils provided.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Great breakfast. Owners are friendly. Room comfortable. Plenty of parking.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, good beds.
Cons: Low pressure shower, main room of apartment a bit too small for 3 single beds.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very friendly and hospitable. It was very clean and spacious for our family of four.

Pros: I liked the hotel staff very helpful and polite, the breakfast and the location very close to Monemvasia castle. You could also order food to your room from very nice & cheap restaurants from Monemvasia.
Cons: There was a bad smell in the room from the air conditioner or the bathroom (couldn't understand from where precisely). The mattress of the bed too hard. We also found a male underwear behind the fridge from the previous customers!

Cons: Not much, some would say the location, but I enjoyed how peaceful and quiet it was.
6,7 Good
Pros: The setting and the ambiance are beautiful
Cons: The bed is not comfortable and it is far from the castle of monemvasia. It is located in velies ,15 minutes by car.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The quiet. Rooms are in an olive grove where they also grow their herbs and vegetables. All are organically grown and used in the delicious meals cooked in the evenings by Daniela and Carmen. Staff are extremely helpful. The main building has the traditional olive crusher and press which is now a museum. They produce their own olives, make their own jams, marmalades, olive oil, vinegar, and all very delicious. Breakfasts are adequate and tasty but no cereals. All in all a good experience. Thank you to all.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: The view and peacefull atmosphere.
Cons: Nothing to do - at all. Uncomfortable furniture. - You cant sit on the settee. It was rock hard and had a huge dip. No cups in the room - even though there was a kettle. Freezing cold breakfast room. No tour of the museum offered. No tour of the olive oil museum provided. No tour of the wineries, cooking etc provided or offered (as per their website)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness of staff and their rigorous efforts to meet every guest's request. Excellent restaurant, providing home made food, using top quality local fresh produce and prepared using good old local recipes. Excellent location, extreme peace and quiet, wonderful views, 6-7 miles by car to Monemvasia a must see place in Greece.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good amenities (nice, big shower, clean bathroom of very comfortable size, powerful AC, mini fridge, pretty good bed). The location was really lovely. We loved the olive trees that surrounded the home, the old liotrivi house that hosted the restaurant , the staff. The restaurant on the premises was also very good. Do use it! We loved staying here because it was remote and away from the busy, touristy towns, that have motorcycles, lots of traffic etc. the location was good for accessing different beaches and villages near Velies, as well as Monemvasia of course...we would definitely stay here again...we also loved the story behind the house, a location that has hosted famous poet Yiannis Ritsos...
Cons: The owner should put a handle on the door...we stayed in the first house and it locks with a key, but it sure is hard to close and open s door just with a key...our only complaint!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet place. New, stylish and comfortable rooms. Nice and helpful staff. Very interesting restaurant.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hostess Staroula (not sure of the proper spelling of her name) always went above and beyond. She was friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and always helpful. She deserves ten stars. And she was very sweet and kind.
Cons: The wifi didn't work.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: very clean rooms, beautiful scenery, extremely friendly staff
Cons: wi-fi internet was not working due to increased traffic in the evening

Pros: Close to Monemvasia, about 25 minutes walk over the bridge to the main gate. Close to a great fish taverna. A basic room but we slept well, for the money in the area it was acceptable

Pros: Location is good as it is just by the sea. Staff was nice. It is cheap compared with the hotels of the area. For one night stay it is enough.

7,5 Good
Pros: Location on the main road but very quiet, just two minutes walk from the center with restaurants/cafe' and the shuttle- bus to Monenvasia Very helpful staff in particular Ioannis from reception
Cons: The room was quite nice and good size with balcony but it was a bit dated, mostly the bathroom , with a curtained shower and a general old style ( not in a good way)
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The triple room. The castle view from the hotel. The onwer is very friendly and his knowledge on the area is very helpful.
Cons: I suggest in your site the fact that there are no bath toiletries except soap should be stated. A shower curtain would be advisable. Also although the breakfast is a complete one (cereals could be added) the cheese cut in such small pieces gives the impression that the buffet richness is limiting.
4,4 Okay
Pros: good location close to Monemvasia. Nice view of the rock
Cons: needs some sprucing up. Toilet paper should be flushable. Very basic breakfast
