Pros: What a gorgeous place!!! The attentiveness of the staff was fantastic. the food was wonderful - I ate at the Melba and although it was exspensive it was exceptional food. The room was lovely. My primary reason for selecting the hotel was the old world charm of the hotel. I don't see value for money in modern hotels. I booked 2 rooms for myself and my husband, our older son and a family friend and would do so again. We all had a massage at the Chuan Spa which I found was outstanding. The staff there were amazing and the masseur although young was extremely talented and well trained. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. If you like comfort and extreme luxury and to be surrounded by beauty. I think it is the best in Melbourne.

Cons: When we arrived they would not accept my bank savings account took him a while to work out then we have not been there before we did not know where they're the elevators work we have to walk up top no one told us it was quite embarrassing on my apart for his first romantic weekend away with my girlfriend was not happy at all as well I was meant to get free parking did not get as well because of my card was not a credit card we tried to get a movie took me an hour to get a movie because it was a savings account very unprofessional was not happy the door on the mini bar came off and the room was very hot all the time

Pros: Inside the room was great.
Cons: It felt like they assumed we had been there before and nothing was explained to us. For instance, after checking in we were left to find our own way with no instruction even where the lift was. Once in the lift we went up and down stopping at everyone elses floors not knowing why the 9 button would not stay illuminated when we pressed it. Eventually we figured out we needed to put some card they apparently slipped in a little cardboard envelope without mentioning, into a little slot in the lift so we could get to our floor. Once at our room it took a few minutes to work out how to open the door with said card. Then crashing around in the dark it took another few minutes to work out the lights dont work unless the same mystery card is put in a little slot by the door. Room service was not explained, we had no idea if we could just order food or drinks to the room or whatever. So even though already exhausted, we went walking in the rain to find somewhere to eat. I just think the first question they should have asked is: Have you stayed with us before? We paid a lot of money and I dont feel we got to take full advantage of what we were paying for. For the price I paid, including the upgrade, I would have liked to be further up than the floor I was on. The curtain got stuck on a join in the rail and would not open more than halfway, obviously severely compromising the view that was advertised. Disappointing in such an expensive room.

Cons: I booked a superior King and it was on the smoking floor which wasn't detailed in the booking. I was a upgraded to a non smoking suite by. a lovely guy on reception but my other interactions with staff were not good. they were very inflexible and told me what the hotel does. like "you need to come downstairs now to pick I your food, we won't send him up. no please - asked for tea and yes they brought it but told me I was wrong they didn't stock the one I had had the previous day!

Pros: Was set for a pickup at hotel from tour company and when they were not there concierge took charge of situation by locating and calling all 3 direct numbers available until he got ahold of someone. Timing was critical as missing a tour has its own bucket of problems because of his urgency response the tour was located and all proper arrangements were honored. He was solid.

Pros: Great location, easy to get to, great view, great bar and restaurant. All staff very friendly and helpful (including when we lost our room keys late at night) Quick to bring our car around when we didn't call ahead. I can't fault it!
Cons: Bathrooms style is getting older but still very functional and shower was great even if over bath. I struggled to figure our the keys to make the lift word when we first arrived as it wasn't explained but soon found my way!

Pros: Was set for a pickup at hotel from tour company and when they were not there concierge took charge of situation by locating and calling all 3 direct numbers available until he got ahold of someone. Timing was critical as missing a tour has its own bucket of problems because of his urgency response the tour was located and all proper arrangements were honored. He was solid.

Cons: A cleaner at 0730 slamming a door about 30 times. Walking four flights of steps as the elevator was out Continental breakfast was way below standard compared to places like RACV Torquay. It’s decorated to be cosy which I love but there’s no soul in it. It was cold down stairs in the restaurant and I got raw egg white with my poached eggs. The parking wanted to charge me $83 and the poor reception guy had to fix multiple peoples parking. Oh and my daughter wanted a hot chocolate and they ran out. If it’s five star you improvise and find an alternative. They have pkts of hot chocolate in the rooms. The rooms are not five star clean.

Cons: Falls short, even for a budget hotel. A good, low-price hotel should still have a fresh modern feel, and have working/available amenities. Unfortunately, Atlantis doesn't currently offer this.
The air con in our room was "working", but ultimately useless. Lowered the temperature in the room by 1 degree after 10 hours of use, even on maximum cooling setting. Most of the rooms in the hotel face west, so the hot afternoon sun in Melbourne is a killer without good air con.
Grout in the bathroom needs re-doing. Nowhere to hang your towel so that it dries overnight.
Ironing board, but no iron?
Mattress fine, although certainly nothing to write home about. Pillows bad - only one per person. At least a couple of spare pillows in the wardrobe really not that hard to do.

Cons: The morning of my stay I rang the hotel to find out what time the restaurant and bar meals closed, as I would be arriving late, and couldn’t find the info on the website. I also asked for earl grey tea (I don’t drink English breakfast) and a bathrobe be in the room please. The lady I spoke to said she would organise it. I arrived too late for a meal or bar snack (just after 10pm, waited about 10 minutes before being checked in). Went to the room, no earl grey tea or bathrobe. Went downstairs spoke to the manager who said she would organise it for me, I went out for a meal, got back 2 hours later - still no tea or bathrobe. I rang down, and eventually they arrived. Everyone kept apologising to me, but really, it’s pretty poor, especially as I had stayed the previous Sunday night, and the same thing happened. I usually stay here because of its location, but it has been a long time since I have been able to say I stay here because of the service. Cathryn Allan

Cons: A wonderful staff member found me a charger but the check in process was long winded and the manager was not friendly or understanding. Flights were delayed by 2-3hrs and passengers were late whom had to quickly get ready for functions. A 10-15 minute checkin which included drivers licence check, handing over the prepaid credit card and other forms of id was overkill for a 1 night prepaid stay. There was a short black hair in the bed. Clearly not my long brown hair. Was not impressed.

Pros: location location location ..... my 5th or 6th stay here, just love the place, so close to everything, and just across from the train station is so handy. Marvel is only a 5 min walk, and the casino isnt much further.. highly recommended.

Pros: Location close to Sky Bus at Southern Cross. It was a very hot day but my room was cold on arrival, thank you to the cleaning crew had left the AC . Well priced and perfectly cooked steak dinner in hotel lobby restaurant.

Cons: not much really, a little ageing, a few imperfections, flaking door, some less than professional repairs, but absolutley nothing that would stop me staying here again, my hotel of choice with every trip.

Cons: The floors are open to the air, which could be perilous (slippery tiles) in bad weather. The room doors have a pane of clear glass, which was odd; it could be closed with a shutter, but it was odd. The bed was not very comfortable, and there were no bedside lamps - the only way to read in bed was with the room light on, which turned off with a switch near the door.
