Cons: The security could be improved. We stayed there for 4 days and at several occasions we could walk into the hotel without anybody seeing us, so anybody else could do this as well. We found that quite scary. Such a property should have a security person at the entrance all the time.

Cons: Pool was not heated, I've stayed in 5 stars before and 'everything' was very over-priced considering, room took hours to either heat or chill as the system was ineffective. Shower was cold depending on time of day, and the it took 3 elevators (up and down) to travel to the spa/pool. Seems like they initially spent money on the hotel, but have not maintained it.

Pros: The Hotel is centeally located in Vieux Port area and wallking distance from cruises attractions restaurants and shopping area. Stass are friendly and helpful.Rooms are spacious bed is comfortable.. And all supplies from body and hair care to coffee and tea are of good quality brands.
I recommend this hotel and will book it again if I had to visit Marseilke again.

Pros: We had a side room but in fact we could see the Vieux Port so were delighted with this. We found the room and bathroom very comfortable and enjoyed the Occitane products provided. Tea and coffee in the room are a must for British people so this was perfect for us. Bar with a lovely view too and free welcome drink to drink it in. Lovely.

Cons: The only small thing was that as the shower was over the bath ( although the bathroom was so big it could have had a big walk in shower as well) there was no grab rails to hold when getting in our out of the tub after the shower!!!

Cons: We couldn't use any of the facilities (spa, gym, restaurant, bar) and had to take the last breakfast (very limited food choice - basically only coffe and croissants) in our room due to the shutdown imposed by the government related to the Corona breakout. We do understand the exceptional situation but we had to fight for a compensation of a mere parking bill when we paid over 300 euro for 2 nights in a standard room without any services. A customer oriented hotel and with a sense of fairness would have at least make the breakfast free of charge seeing we could not use NONE of their facilities or services during our stay, neither the breakfast buffet. From a chain hotel company this was something expected seeing the premium price guests pay respect to other hotel of the same league and standard. This was not the case and the hotel manager has clearly no flexibility and no sense of customer courtesy. Moreover when checked in the toilet was very dirty and instead of complaining we asked for a cleaning lady to please take care of the situation. We showed patiente and flexibility and we expected the same from the hotel but obviously this was not the case. We will definitely not recommend neither visit again this hotel chain seeing the policy they adopt for their customers!

Cons: Once we arrived after midnight (that was communicated earlier), we had to wait at the door for a long time (I rang the bell 3 times before manager opened the door for us). Mr. Pascal apologised, but that hardly can be considered a normal practice at the hotel. If you do not expect visitors at the late hour (due to the flight delay), you should be communicating that. Also information concerning you're security measures - doors looked and no people are allowed in if there are other travellers checking in. All in all, it was something that we did not like at all.

Mama Shelter is loctaed within a few blocs of Cours Julien, a square with good restarurants and an artictc atmosphere. You can either walk to the Vieux Port or take the metro. Very friendly staff at the reception and no hassles when checking in and checking out. Staying in this hotel for a vacation in Marseille was a rewarding experience.

Cons: The rooms were not properly cleaned. We had a piece of chewing gum on the bathroom floor that I had to clean myself eventually. The personnel never managed to leave 2 large towels and 2 small ones. We always had to ask for extras. There were 2 elevators out of which one was almost always broken

Cons: The installation of the balcony door in both rooms we had, is terrible weak. There is a gap between the door and the frame, due to missing lock supports in the middle of the frame, the lock closes to noting. Upper lock was worn out due to many clashes with the curtain rod. The bedroom has a continuous air flow and unfortunately noise was coming in too through the gap. I could sleep with a pillow on my head to cover my ears, My wife was not bothered by the noise. I hope it will be fixed otherwise the accommodation is just perfect.

I read comments that the neighborhood is bad, but i did not see anything scary or had any trouble. There is a nice terrace overlooking the little square and the triumph arc nearby, It was quiet during the night too. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Cons: As by writing everyone was concerned about the corona virus I had the feeling that food as it was presented at breakfast was not within the required higene. Cutting the baguette by oneself and only having a paper to hold it which is used by many people or not at all by some kept me from eating several things. Boiled eggs should not be presented peeled etc. and an open buffet is generally a problem regarding infection.

Cons: 3 negatives: Our closet was weird, and didn't open, so we had a tough time hanging up our coats. There was no fridge or microwave. No iron in the room. We were there during Christmas, so we didn't have the opportunity to try out the restaurant, but I'm sure it was quite nice! The bar was closed one night (due to the holiday) when my partner wanted a drink, but the front desk was very accommodating and got him a drink anyways! It was a bit of a walk to the nearest metro, but max 15 minutes, so quite doable. The location might not be ideal if you want to be in the center of everything, but it's more than manageable if you are able to walk around easily.

Cons: Safe never works (2 occasions - one wouldn't open and one wouldn't lock). Bathrooms a bit sketchy. Loose toilet seats, long refill. Tiny soap bar.

Cons: Very very small room.. One tiny escalator that is used almost entirely by the staff at busy check out times.. So staff use the lift and clients carry luggage up and down the stairs. One client was mugged at the entrance last night

Pros: The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is quite small and personal and has a nice reception lobby area/ breakfast area to the side/rear which is also open to locals as a cafe. The hotel itself is located in a good area in being the antique area. The street itself is quite narrow but typical of Marseille with external timber shutters. within walking distance to the vieux port and restaurants and there are also some small restaurants near the hotel and a boulangerie and some nice shops. The breakfast good with a selection of pastries and baguette and hot food french sausage and scrambled eggs. Hot drinks were from the coffee machine which you could help yourself to. Our bedroom was quite small and faced onto the street ( was was noisy at times if you kept the window open). The bathroom although small had quite modern fittings and was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. And there were toiletries ( soap and shower gel ect) They offer a luggage service and there is a communal WC and shower down a narrow stair in the basement.

Cons: It has a very small lift and the stair is quite steep. Our room was not cleaned one day but that might have been our fault for leaving the do not disturb sign when we were out for the day by accident.

Cons: Location isn't bad but it is away from the actual main attractions. And metro station is 5-10 mins away by walking. I was given a attic room which has low ceiling even for my short stature. Wish there's fridge in the room.

Cons: On the second day, we found cockroaches in the room. They were coming out from the sync and the shower in the toilette. We shared that to the reception, but there were no other rooms available. They simply sprayed some toxic stuff in the toilette as "solution". (of course, didn't work)

Cons: I don't like to write negative reviews but in this case I have to; after many years of traveling, this place is the worst... They have a breakfast area, which would be nice to use during the day, but it's not allowed to be there (?!); the so called common area is just a couch at the bottom of the staircase and it's dirty AF...there is no lock on the dormitory room and anybody who pleases can come in, even during the night, as the reception is on the 1st floor. The bed linens are changed, but no sheet for the blanket and they are not washed or changed after the guests... there are rats running all around inside the walls and so loud that during the night they woke me up many times. The bathrooms are tiny and could be cleaned even better. And the noise from the street is loud too. Though the receptionists are helpful, this place is not well managed... would not stay here again, doesn't matter if it's a cheap place!
