Pros: Great hotel with great amenities in a great location. Pool facility is fantastic and staff was extremely accomodating. Room itself was a tad dated, but upkeep was great. Location near the main ferry terminal is fantastic.
With regards to some of the poorer reviews, the key is value. If you are showing up here and expecting a brand new five-star hotel, you are going to be a little disappointed. If that is what you want, there are plenty of options down the street that cost 5X as much. For me, I found the Grand Lapa to be a tremendous value that exceeded my expectations.

Pros: The staffs are nice and helpful. I am totally okay to stay in this hotel again if the price less than $90. The location is easy for me to find a taxi. Very convenient to go to anywhere in Macau with a small pay for example mop$90 to Venetian and mop$60 to central.

Pros: The staffs are nice and helpful. I am totally okay to stay in this hotel again if the price less than $90. The location is easy for me to find a taxi. Very convenient to go to anywhere in Macau with a small pay for example mop$90 to Venetian and mop$60 to central.
Cons: I booked at wrong timing. It is in construction for remodeling the hotel. It is very noisy. They startet at 10am - 6pm. The hotel seems a little bit old school. That is why it needs to be remodeled and offered a low price for me.

Cons: Upon checking in, rather than just asking for a credit card to secure my room, they asked me to pay for the room already plus a deposit which was already almost equivalent to the room I booked. It was the first time I experienced such a policy wherein you need to pay for the room already and give an additional deposit. Besides this, the room we got also had an "old" smell to it as if the room has not been used for some time. It was also dusty in the room.

Cons: The hotel and casino were fairly empty on a Friday night. It seems the crowds of people stay in Cotai instead, which is why rooms out there are pricier.

Cons: The staff are pretty rude! Not the front desk but everywhere else. No bother in helping you at all and if they do they are very rude about it and just point you instead of really helping! Not so foreign friendly at all.. Please teach staff to be more courteous to guest! i don't know if that's just how they are but in Las Vegas everyone is very courteous and helpful rather than just pointing! This is what makes Las Vegas one of kind! They really make you not want to leave!!!

Front desk admitted the poor quality of the standard room and tried to get us to upgrade to the refurbished rooms for an additional $280. This is false advertising, as it is clearly not what i expected when i booked and paid. If you're booking a standard room based on the pictures, then deduct 2 stars from your expectations.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. They helped us to call places to find a forgotten camera. Internet is free in the room. Snacks and water in the room are priced like in convenience stores (cheap). TV offers international channels. Great and inexpensive dimsum restaurant on premises. For those wishing to spicy up evenings, there is a night club in the ground floor with strip-tease show and more.

Pros: Nice older hotel with good facilities, friendly staff and excellent Chinese restaurant in the lobby. Also, Guia Hill area is a very nice area of Macau to walk and explore the real Macau, not the casinos. I will stay there again.
Cons: There is a pervading musty smell in the hotel.

Cons: Rooms could do with being refurbished. No automated way of paying credit card (manual slips and call to CC company). Charge for instant coffee. Checking out procedure took a long time as they check mini bar. If I ever stay there again I will ask for the Bar to be emptied

Cons: Breakfast option is limited to dim-sum restaurant. While making absolutely great dim-sum, this is not the best breakfast option. Guests may want to chose to go to a nearby Hotel Royal for Chinese/western breakfast buffet (HK120). Location is not ideal for visiting the city, since you'll need a shuttle or taxi to reach most of city destinations. Arriving to the hotel by taxi, make sure you have it's Chinese name written on a paper and show this to the driver, otherwise the driver won't understand where to go.

Cons: The reception staff were rude, and rushing about to push people away. Seems like a shortage of staff as only 1 or 2 people working at the busy reception. The entire hotel also smells of smoke, so not recommended for non-smokers.

Pros: The staff were friendly and accomodating when we checked in very late at about 11.30pm. My mother was in wheel chair and they provided the room with the same level for breakfast. Breakfast is a simple but decent affair. However on the 2nd day, my parents received the a letter telling them that there may be blackout in their room as they are currently doing some renovation work and they offer another room at one level down and at the same time upgraded the room for them. Overall, decent hotel for a city break.
