Pros: Great hotel with great amenities in a great location. Pool facility is fantastic and staff was extremely accomodating. Room itself was a tad dated, but upkeep was great. Location near the main ferry terminal is fantastic.
With regards to some of the poorer reviews, the key is value. If you are showing up here and expecting a brand new five-star hotel, you are going to be a little disappointed. If that is what you want, there are plenty of options down the street that cost 5X as much. For me, I found the Grand Lapa to be a tremendous value that exceeded my expectations.

Pros: Fast check-in and check-out. The view from our room was very nice. The hotel is very nice located: only a 2m walk to Macau Cultural Centre. The swimming pool is very good and it has a great atmosphere, specially to those who travel with kids.

Cons: I booked at wrong timing. It is in construction for remodeling the hotel. It is very noisy. They startet at 10am - 6pm. The hotel seems a little bit old school. That is why it needs to be remodeled and offered a low price for me.

Cons: We ordered food through the room service. We can't say that the Tom Yum Soup was that good, at least in comparison to the breakfast buffet and the food served by the pool that are really outstanding.

Cons: I stayed there (as a solo traveler) during my birthday. I wasn’t offered a birthday drink or wished a Happy Birthday. It wasn’t expected, but some kind of recognition would have been nice. I had a very pleasant stay anyway, and I would go back.

Pros: We opted for a larger room which included some extras, the bed was very convenient, the hotel is very central in Macao, the shuttle services to the airport are very convenient. Breakfast had options for everyone and the staff was very friendly and fluent in English.
Cons: The shuttle service bus from the ferry was not really convenient and staff on this bus was on the border to be rude. We had a defective rainshower in our bathroom, although we reported that it never got fixed.

Cons: Upon checking in, rather than just asking for a credit card to secure my room, they asked me to pay for the room already plus a deposit which was already almost equivalent to the room I booked. It was the first time I experienced such a policy wherein you need to pay for the room already and give an additional deposit. Besides this, the room we got also had an "old" smell to it as if the room has not been used for some time. It was also dusty in the room.

There is a walk from the hotel to the lighthouse without going via the main road (via a lift). It's a little hard to find but makes for a great way to access the park opposite the hotel. Very convenient to the ferry terminal. We walked (with luggage) as bus only comes once an hour (despite what it says on the website). Also, it's rather small so luggage could be an issue. Large rooms with connecting rooms available.
