Pros: great stay, would go there again, staff was super helpful with advice for daytime local excursions. Loved our room, stayed in a Jr Suite with lake view and it was so worth it. Bathroom was so large, even for US standards. Would highly recommend. 10-15 walk from train station. you get a card for free public transport when you check in

Cons: Although the (greeting) staff was very polite and accommodating, he helped me to book a table at a nearby recommended (by him) restaurant. He even brought up to the room a card with the confirmed booked details. When I arrived at the restaurant in the evening it wasn't even open! It was closed the whole day, so how he managed to book a table is beyond me.. He also promised to look into a few other things, but he never got back to me on those requests.

Pros: The hotel is centrally located, and a 3 min walk from the train station, we enjoyed the beautiful fire place and views of the lake from the hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated and staff are very attentive. We were treated to Swiss chocolates every night. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Cons: We had a three person room and the twin bed was an AIR MATTRESS! It was deflated when we got in the room and had to call the desk to get someone to fill it back up. Over the course of the night it deflated to the point it was like sleeping on a hammock.. the desk should have given a major discount for this clearly (or so I would hope) over booking of triple rooms.

Pros: From the moment you walk through the door, to the first bite at Scala to the first drink at the Hemingway Bar, to the phenomenal views from you room. It is no secret why this is Switzerland’s best hotel. The entire staff is warm and welcoming and extremely helpful. I will always remember my stay at Hotel Montana, and I will be back again. You can’t keep me away from this place!

Pros: The rooms were small, but comfortable, and clean. It is a short walk from the train station, Chapel Bridge, Old Towne, the pier, and plenty of restaurants. The breakfast was phenomenal, and definitely added a lot of value to the price of the room. We enjoyed using the complimentary bicycles. The daily beverages were a welcome treat at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
We had a wonderful stay, and have nothing but the highest compliments for the staff. They were friendly, warm, welcoming, and helpful. Arlinda always seemed ready to go the extra mile to make our stay extra special. Our thanks to her and everyone else who made our trip a huge success.

Hotel Des Alpes also have a nice restaurant on the basement if you don't want to get out during the cold/wet evening. Front desk staffs are very friendly. When checked-in, Hotel Des Alpes will give you a complementary local train & bus ticket, which is nice if you want to explore the bigger part of the city.

The main train station, the exhibition centre & Luzern museum of arts (KKL) were a stone's throw away. My room was spacious, comfortable, clean and tidy. The en suite was immaculate. On the whole, the staff were friendly, smiling and helpful.

Cons: Restaurant service slow: food was ready and getting cold, waiting to be served, while serving staff was keeping himself very busy with lots of other things except serving customers. Cleaning lady was very noisy and wanted to enter room at 8.30/9 am while we were still inside, waking up from our very late arrival (after a day of driving) the previous night. It was a Saturday, with breakfast open until 10.30 am and our day of departure, so if she would be instructed properly, she should leave our room in peace until after our checkout.

The breakfasts was great and we appreciated the availability of free tea & coffee between 7:00 & 22:00 in the breakfast room every day. The location is perfect, just around the corner of the Old Town and the Lion Monument just up the street. The hotel is definitely good value for money.

Pros: Location and size of room was great. All the amenities required for such a cost effective stay. The breakfast was good and had variety. The staff were very accomodating and room cleaned each day.
Cons: Bed was 2 singles pushes together which is fine normally but they just dipped in way too much at the centre to get comfortable. Soft mattresses not great for back issues.

Pros: Breakfast was good, good location to walk into the shops, nearby bus station, you get included free travel pass around Lucerne which was really helpful.
Cons: Our room smelt a bit like cigarette smoke which was annoying, so had to constantly leave the windows open (in winter).
