Pros: Lobby area gave us an excellent first impression of the hotel.
Cons: Rest of the hotel did not live up to the first impressions made from the lobby area. Carpets in the corridors of our floor looked dated and grubby. Room size was ok but room is dated. Bathroom looked to be more updated. Breakfast options were limited and did not compete with my usual choice of stay, the W Hong Kong. The most disappointing part of my stay was the poor service we received at reception when checking-in. To be told the room was booked for only one person but my booking confirmation showed two people and then asked to pay the difference. Having passed my phone to the receptionist to show her my confirmation booking email for her to scroll through my emails to find whatever she was trying to do. The confirmation with the cost of our hotel booking was shown clearly to her. I did not give this person any permission to look through my phone other than to read my confirmation booking that i showed her. This put a distasteful taste in my mouth after spending the day travelling and checking in at gone midnight.

Cons: Staff were rude. They couldn't find my reservation. Waited 45 minutes for them to sort out the problem (their reservation system did not like I booked the hotel 3 hours before I arrived). They could have at least offered a drink or snack or something instead of making me stand around waiting for them to sort out the problem.

The smartphone they provide you in room with free international calls and data and Internet made wandering Hong Kong so much easier. The breakfast buffet is vast and huge and fancy and delicious. And the rooms are gorgeous and well appointed. All needs are thought of and anticipated. The staff are incredibly attentive, you feel like you're a VIP. I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Six million stars.

If included in the price of your stay, the buffet breakfast in The Market dining area is not to be believed. Foods from everywhere well prepared and exquisite service. Highly recommend staying here.
Cons: We dined in the top floor restaurant Above and Beyond and had the Peking Duck set menu with a wine pairing. Here, unfortunately, the highly attentive service became intrusive and absurd. For example, someone comes every minute to check on your table and rather than a casual glance this check includes a careful study. The servers would often jump in to do something unnecessary and pointless such as turning the water bottle so that the label faces you or randomly realigning items on the table in a fussy manner. And if you had the temerity to top off your own water glass, someone would jump in and grab the bottle form your hand. Aside form the overbearing service, the meal was only okay. The duck was tasty, but most of the other flavors were no more than ordinary. And the wine pairings were similarly undistinguished. Considering that the meal (at HKD 2000) was by far the most expensive one we had in 4 days in Hong Kong, it was a very poor value for money. I recommend going elsewhere despite the high rating this place receives on Trip Advisor.

Cons: While the decor is lovely the rooms are not brilliantly set up. The showers are small. The aircon wouldn't get the room below perhaps 20c. The focus of the room is the view so the TV is at an angle. No shaver socket. That kind of thing.

The basin was too low for washing (2) The second day after the room cleaning of room 765, 2 women’s underwear were found (3) room 755 had bloodstain on the beige bed underskirt. (4) only one elevator worked as the other one under maintenance- major waits and inconvenience as had to wait a couple of trips due to it being full (5) cockroach in the elevator near the pool (6) the green clean room special only offered $50 hkd on the buffet... nothing else.

Cons: First off we booked for 10/21-23 and my email confirmarion and screen shot of booking all confirmed this. When we went to check in , they told us that booking was for 11/4-6. I showed them the confirmation then they told us we needed to take the issue up with kayak. After arguing for 3 hours(i dont give up) they finally gave us the room. The hotel is NOT a 5 star (1star) and the pictures are MISLEADING. Theoughout the stay the staff was awful. The hotel is also filled with mainlanders which makes it extremely noisy and crowded. Avoid avoid avoid. I couldnt take another day so in the end I booked the shangri-la.

No trouble sleeping on the bed however the pillows were only soft or hard but not rock hard :) MTR was a few minutes away as was the Star Ferry (about 10 minutes walk). Breakfast was OK but not great. Restaurant staff were very helpful (especially Wendy) as my wife is a Celiac - Gluten Sensitive she was well catered for.

Cons: Staff for our Afternoon Tea forgot to bring us tea with the snacks until we looked for them and told them they did not give us the tea. The male waiter reasoned that they serve either coffee or tea and that we did not specify any. I said that he did not even ask us! He gave us the tea AFTER we were done with the snacks. The carpet in the room was looking worn, dirty and stained. It should be replaced...the same with the carpets in the hallways. But instead of replacing the carpets along the hallways, it's better to just remove them and have shiny floors.

Pros: Great location
Cons: The rooms were very very very small, there were cockroaches, lots of black mildew in the bathroom. Some of the extraction fans were not working. The bedding was terrible and dirty under the sheets. No windows!
