8,8 Excellent
Pros: The owners were really helpful , and made you feel at home
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Board games and pool table a nice touch
7,7 Good
Pros: The location isnt brilliant! It's at the end of a potholed drive and at the end of an industrial estate - but it is only 5 minutes from the town centre of Buxton. The rooms are not big and the bathroom is tiny but it has all the facilities. However, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was more than enough. The price is very attractive and of course, parking is free which is not the case in the centre of Buxton. We would stay again!
Cons: I suppose we would have preferred a bigger bathroom. There is only room for one person at a time.

Pros: The room was large and clean. The shower had good water pressure and the double bed in the room was comfortable. The breakfast each morning was very good and cooked to order.
Cons: There is some discrepancy on the site regarding the family rooms. There are no family rooms so my friend needed to sleep on a foldaway bed. It was not a huge issue but it was something we were unaware about until we arrived.

Pros: The friendly helpful staff, the restaurant, the gardens and location
Cons: Nothing to dislike
7,1 Good
Pros: The room was comfortable -large-with boutique feel . The large bath was partially screened from the bedroom. The shower was large and well fitted.
Cons: There was NO LIFT to the second floor where our lovely room was situated. We were not informed of the lack of lift when booking. For two pensioners this was a very inconvenient . The staff were kind and helpful in carrying up cases for us but the lack of a lift made us feel isolated. There were no table cloths on the table at dinner time which did not equate with the idea of fine dinning.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The evening chef was a star! He or she invented two tasty and delicious dishes on two consecutive evenings to accommodate dietary requirements . These dishes far exceeded expectations. The very young staff were energetic, enthusiastic and friendly.
Cons: The dining room was cold both morning and evening. The decor throughout looked tired. The fruit selection at breakfast needs improvement.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Loads of character, good blend of traditional and modern.
Cons: No staff around overnight, had to take the dog outside at 5.30, but no staff to let me back in, ended up locked out for 30 mins before my wife came to my rescue.

Cons: No double beds
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, very well organised. Comfortable beds
Cons: Perhaps more toilets... only 2 near the bedrooms. Problem with one of the showers running very hot. Only left one usable shower
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was lovely, great, super kind, and really helpful! They gave me really good tips on where to go, what to visit, how to get there. I felt very safe - which was a high priority as was traveling alone. I met amazing people here - I am truly grateful for this as well! :) Location is also great! :)
Cons: USB charger for phones/electronics would be nice to have in the rooms for people outside of UK --- on the other hand the staff was really nice about it & they charged my phone when I needed that. Not being able to check in before 17h was a bit uncomfortable --- but they let me leave my luggage there until check-in time arrived. I could also leave my luggage there for half a day after check-out for the time I was hiking that day, so that was really sweet and kind too. As the staff was really kind about finding and offering solutions for the inconveniences, I would rather say these are recommendations for future improvement.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful, they were very flexible with the check-in hours. Also, the hostel room it was better than many I have seen, very tidy and clean.
Cons: It's a bit noisy because of the main street just in front of the building but fortunately is not too bad in the night when the traffic is less.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: this was so good for the price! You don't expect a luxury room suite in a youth hostel but this did exactly what it said on the tin - and more! The beds were comfortable, the shared bathrooms were clean and accessible and there were great facilities including a shared kitchen (with fridge) and lounge. The breakfast in the morning was superb (tasted like a lovely farm shop sausage!) and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
Cons: nothing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Catered for me with vegan food. Staff were amazing
Cons: There wasn’t anything to not like
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It was really convenient location to a nearby wedding. Staff accommodated our request to drop off bags and were very helpful.

Cons: There just isn't anything not to like about this beautiful hotel with lovely surroundings and gardens.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We actually changed rooms as it had been a very hot weekend and the staff did their best to find us an alternative and moved our belongings whilst we were out. Both rooms we stayed in were quiet, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice -freshly made coffee in a cafetière, a selection of fresh bread, fruit, croissants, a selection of cereals and a cooked breakfast made on the spot if you wished. It was lovely sitting outside with a cup of tea enjoying the view and the hotel is an easy walk into the centre. Parking was easy too so I'd highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel Wine Bar is a friendly place where good food is served throughout the day. We would recommend Buxton and The Old Hall Hotel to anyone who wanted a weekend away. So much to see and do.

5,4 Okay
Pros: Great location in beautiful Castleton, great selection of drinks at the bar and a good full english breakfast.
Cons: I wish I could leave a better rating and review as the staff were mostly friendly but having returned from a wedding in Sheffield on Saturday night we found we were locked out of the hotel. We spent half an hour walking around in the dark trying to get in, eventually the manager / one of the managers came down and was nothing short of rude. It was an error made by a member of staff who mistakenly dead-bolted the door (understandable, these things happen) but when the manager opened it we said thank you and he walked away in silence, no apology. Again the next morning he saw my partner twice at breakfast and didn't say a word. No apology was made for being stuck outside unable to get into our room until i raised the fact and someone finally acknowledged the issue. Surprisingly badly handled "hospitality".

Pros: Situated in the centre of Hathersage, quaint and old hotel was perfect for a weekend retreat. The staff were excellent and the rooms cosy and clean.
Cons: I had no qualms about anything, however everywhere I stepped in my room I stood on a squeaky floorboard. I just felt I was waking everyone up when heading to the bathroom, but it is an old hotel
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, was very impressed with the location and the staff were awesome, specially Jake who went out of his way to assist us, after a misunderstanding with the room locations we were offered a free upgrade and it was lovely, made all the more special as we were travelling for my husbands birthday. Breakfast was lovely and fresh and loose leaf tea which is always a bonus with me.
Cons: The description needs to better on here as I booked a ground floor room and still had to go up and down 3 flights of stairs, I had not long had an operarion on my knee, just needs to better explained. Would benefit from a sauna or spa, but it was amazing.
