pulled in to return car at Charlotte airport at 12:30am. Sign said it was open until 1am. Car blocking the entrance to the returns, no one in the car, no one on staff at the return center. There was no way to return the car; we were forced to return to return it at 4:30am. The Hertz rep I talked with on the phone said "there is nothing i can do to help you". Terrible, and I should be completely reimbursed for this entire rental.Reviewed May 15 2023

In arranging the rental, I was unaware that the office I was renting from was an off-airport location. Much confusion when I tried to get the car at the Charlotte airport, then had to take a taxi and pay ~$70 to go to where the car was. Giving an address of the location is good but it should also say "off airport". Also, the car's batter died during the rental, very inconvenient. The fob was reluctant to work, screen said batttery low. So I went to a battery place, replaced it and no improvement. The car had 50,000+ miles on it, and obviously had not been checked out prior to the rental. Wasted much time trying to fix the problems.Reviewed May 2 2023

They had not one at the drop off line working, so I asked an employee for help turning in my car. They said to just leave it and they would email my receipt. My bill jumped from $117 to $251 through no fault of my own. I should have waited but there were clearly understaffed and now I am getting price gouged. I am so frustrated.Reviewed Mar 31 2023

The car was filthy inside and out. It smelled like dogs and had hair everwhere. Hertz said to go switch it out at a different location but nodboy had minivans available so we didn't have that option. Pretty disappointed.Reviewed Feb 23 2023

realized I needed a bigger car - upgraded at counter - guy told me was $100 - turned out it was $100 a DAY! Then the tire got a nail in the middle of the tread - easy $30 plug is all that is needed - took 6 calls and many hours to get resolved - they eventually sent me a voucher to cover the plug - then charged me $215 for roadside assistance!!!!!!!!!Reviewed Feb 14 2023

I had reserved a commercial van which was quite inexpensive and allowed me to comfortably get some mattresses and boxed furniture in ikea. They indicated they NEVER have commercial vans available so had to literally rent on the spot at higher cost. Looks like you need to update you’re info what is available at rental facilities. Vehicle was not properly cleaned when picked up, inside and out. Customer service call center poorly trained on understanding customer concerns and rude. Spoke to multiple agents over the span of 5 hours, including a phone call with my bank on 3 way and got conflicting information from agents. Will not book with Hertz again.Reviewed Sep 28 2022
