Cons: Needed an iron, wasn't allowed one in the room (!). Had to go up to the staff quarters, very unpleasant room with a filthy floor (not great for ironing a white dress shirt). Irons in rooms are standard at so many hotels, this place needs to catch up!! Different rates for wi fi than those quoted on website - annoying as was reason I chose this hotel over another.

Pros: I stayed at the Hotel Brunelleschi about 15 years ago and remembered that the location was excellent because we could step out the door and be in the heart of Florence yet the hotel is tucked away in a quiet street. This time (Nov 2010) once again I was happy with the accomodations as the hotel has and is in the process of up-grading the rooms and the restaurant. Our room was fabulous and so up-dated we did not want to leave the room.

Pros: The breakfast is excellent, with a very large dining area and lots of selections. The location is also very good, with easy access to the Duomo.
Cons: The rooms are tiny by any standard, with so little room between the beds and the walls that you can barely walk beside them. There is no room for a bidet in the minuscule bathroom, and the shower is so small that I had to open the door to be able to wash myself (and I'm not a large person). Rather than being an elegant hotel, it is a strange mix of some contemporary elements atop an old hotel that is in disrepair. The service is also rude and unhelpful. I couldn't wait to leave and will never stay there again.

Cons: Since the hotel is maybe two buildings and an old jail tower it was somewhat confusing to find our way around, but that only lasted a day. But that also added to the charm of the old and the new.

Our friends stayed at there in a renovated room that wAs the same price and the compare was like being in a completely different hotel. iF you stay make sure you get the new rooms.

Cons: When I checked into the room, the floor was in need of vacuuming, there were peanuts all over the floor. I told the front desk, who apologized and stated this would be taken care of immediately. Nothing was done to remedy this and The next day, I had to ask the cleaning person myself to vacuum my floor, after she had cleaned the room

Pros: Staying at Casa Howard was one of the most pleasant experiences and a highlight of our trip thus far. The room we stayed in, the game room, also known as the terrace room was as charming as could be! The terrace is so peaceful and quiet and is such an added bonus! The location is great, too. Not too far from the train station, yet close to shops and restaurants. The staff at Casa Howard was so welcoming and very accommodating as well. We loved our stay in Florence and Casa Howard and would recommend it to anyone. I will definitely stay here the next time I travel to Florence.

Our room had a window with a view for people watching, the maid kept our room very clean, every evening when we arrived back from a long day our beds would be turned down waiting for us. The location of the hotel was perfect every thing in walking distance. Doormen and bell hops very friendly and courtesy. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and welcoming and accommodate us with a bigger room when we revealed to him that our room was too small for 3 girls. We were hoping to see him again next day to thank him but we never saw him again. The breakfast is wonderful and delicious! Lots of food even at 945! i love the historical story of the hotel and old pictures of the hotel in the past. The antique furniture, history, and decor can only be appreciated by historical buffs. A historical beauty!

Cons: Some of the front desk staff were snooty and not very welcoming. The first gentleman we met was friendly we saw him only once out of the six days we were there. When I did ask questions front desk staff very short and make you feel like you are troubling them. The first room #145 was way to small for a mom and two teenage girls. I had adapters for my phone and the only one it would fit in was the bathroom. The Internet is very weak (which I knew coming in seems to be # 1 complaint). When you first walk thru revolving doors there is a woman sitting at a table not sure if she is with hotel however she is not very welcoming she is first person you see and she does not smile or say hello she does not make eye contact she is setting the tone and it is not good, smile say Bon Journo!

Pros: This hotel is amazing! The location is perfect, as it is only a couple of minutes walk to the Duomo. The staff were super friendly. Our room and bathroom was clean and very modern (i.e. glass showers). The breakfast included a huge variety of foods (bacon, eggs etc) and there is a rooftop terrasse where you can eat breakfast or share a bottle of wine watching the sunset with an amazing view of Florence!! I definitely recommend this hotel!

Cons: The room was a bit strange of a layout and could use some modernizing. The only true negative was that we believe my husband got food poisoning from the yogurt served at the breakfast. It was in a dispenser rather than individual containers so that was suspect to begin with.

Cons: We travelled as a wedding party and the hotel manager tried to get us to forsake one or two of our pre-paid rooms and share with each other, so that he could sell it to someone else. We refused of course and he didn't put up any further resistance thankfully. No air conditioning in some rooms incluing ours, which made it hot and difficult to sleep without a fan blowing on you. We got bitten by a good few mosquitos during September!

The breakfast is pretty nice quality and the view from the terrace is one of the nicest in Florence. The hotel has also adopted two friendly cats that laze on the terrace. The staff has always been terrific.

Pros: The position of this is hotel must be one of the best in the whole of Florence it is so close to everything there is to see. As soon as you walk out of the door you are there. 10 steps and you are on the Ponte Vecchio a 2 minute walk to the Pitti Palace a 5 minute walk to the Uffizi (which we didnt go in as the queue waiting to go in was ridiculous if you seriously want to go book it before you travel) a 3 minute walk to the Piazza Republica and a 6 minute walk to the Duomo. The roof top terrace on the 6th floor is the reason why I origionally chose this hotel and I was not dissapointed after a tiring day of sightseeing to come back to the terrace for a drink and relax was heaven.Of a night dinner is served on the terrace and although the menu is very limited (due to the very small kitchen area) the food wes excellent. I would reccomend this hotel 100% to anyone. For best buys in Florence you should go the market stalls around San Lorenzo theare fantastic I got the most fab leather jacket for £80.One of the best city breaks I have had.

Cons: I did not like the noise this time. I have stayed at this hotel before, but on upper floors. This time I was on the second floor and the street noise of the vendors setting up at 5 am, and people stumbling and singing back from the bars late into the night was more than I'd experienced previously. The two things that were upsetting this time, were 1) a fellow patron across the hall woke me up at 2 am on my first night there as he spoke loudly into his cell phone for 20 solid minutes, then again at 2:30 another call and again at 3 am a third. he apparently didn't want to bother the woman who was staying with him, who complained loudly, so he stepped into the hallway to take his calls right in front of my door, and proceeded to literally yell into his phone like there was a bad NASA connection to Mars. The second thing that was pretty bad this time was it seemed that the cleaning staff arrived at 5- 5:30 am every morning and proceeded to walk around directly above, sorting out their carts for the day. We really like this hotel, but if we have to endure this kind of noise, we will find another favorite place.

Pros: It was centrally located and the rooms were spacious with all standard amenities except the electrical outlets.
Cons: There was only (1).....seriously (1), outlet in the entire room. A mixed dorm room with 4 bunk beds and only (1) outlet doesn't make for friendly environments and happy customers. The price for the room was comparable but the foot, laundry, and drinks were completely over priced.

Cons: The bed was terrible, there was a bar digging into my hip/ lower back all night. One toilet and one shower for a room of 16 is not enough. There was some sort of construction or something happening on the floor above me from 5am to 9pm. No kitchen, which is dumb. It's a massive facility, so there are huge tour and school groups there all the time.

Pros: The staff at the Anglo American were fantastic, friendly and extremely helpful. They looked after our luggage after our early arrival in Florence on the train from Paris allowing us to visit the city unburdened. They also looked after them after checking out as we were not leaving till the evening that day. The hotel was booked up with a large party of guests and to our amazement and delight we were upgraded to a suite. We will be recommending a stay at the NH Anglo American to anybody we know who is visiting Florence and look forward to returning ourselves.

Cons: Showers indeed spill water onto bathroom floor, but that is a small thing. Nothing you wouldn`t manage. beware if your heating works. We had 3 rooms. We were traveling because of work, and we only needed warm beds and warm shower, nothing fancy. One of the rooms had broken heating. It was terribly cold, 7 Celsius I would say. I woke up in the morning coughing. Now listen - when I went downstairs, the night receptionist said it would be fixed next day - he obviously knew about the problem. Placing guests into rooms without heating is not a nice hotel practise. It wasn`t fixed the next day. We had to sleep there one more night. During checkout, the hotel staff agreed not to charge us for the room. That was only fair.
