9,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and diner in the waterfront restaurant was great. Staff were friendly and attentive and the location is perfect for getting into the town and a great view of the harbour. Was very clean and the shower gels and soaps are exceptionally good quality.
Cons: It was a strange week being the week that the government advised closure due to covid-19. The restaurants was close and everything moved to room service which is fair enough and a good decision by the hotel. That said, the room service breakfast was a bit average but I’m conscious I may be being a bit harsh due to the circumstances.
Penmere Manor Hotel - Falmouth - Building

8,3 Excellent (956 reviews)

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Penmere Manor Hotel in Falmouth, you'll be near the beach, just steps from The Lizard and a 4-minute drive from Swanpool Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
6,0 Good
Pros: Conveniently located near Penmere railway platform; free overnight parking; generally clean, staff helpful, room spacious enough for two people, but overlooking a flat roof. Pool a good depth. Room heating, once we turned radiator on, worked well. Pleasant-smelling collection of bathroom toiletries. The only continental breakfast option was a packet of Alpen Müsli and a pot of yoghurt. Nice lawn, dilapidated outdoor pool and pool house.
Cons: Breakfast was very disappointing. Incredibly salty bacon, my son's scrambled eggs looked like they'd been made of dried egg powder - rubbery, colourless, tasteless. The toast was much too dark, no fresh salad/vegetable / continental breakfast option, except for a packet of Alpen Müsli and a pot of yoghurt. They didn't even have any ham/salami/sausage, just slabs of cheese, but even that only on request. The breakfast 'buffet' was just a disaster. Tinned grapefruit/prunes/very unripe apricots were poured into a bowl as 'fruit', no fresh fruit option, either. No tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, lettuce, nothing. Just dry cereal. Poached egg was ok, but only ate one of the two as they looked so unappetizing and were rubbery on the outside. Yuck. There were some croissants, only one of us had half of one, not very fresh. No other bread option, like seeded/rye/gluten free or rolls at all. If you're English and was brought up on dry, tasteless cardboard cereal and cold milk, you'll probably love the breakfast choice. Swimming pool - very badly lit with ancient wall sconces, shower in changing room broken, pool towels tiny and thin, have to be provided by staff, as they're not left in the room. Bedroom - lights very dusty and cob-webbed on ceiling; windows don't open; tea/coffee making tray with old-looking biscuits didn't inspire us to want to have anything. Pot didn't look clean. Bathroom had only thin net curtain, so we had to shower with the light off, otherwise everyone from the gym would have been able to look straight at us, having our shower. Bathroom fittings, except for the actual bath, very old, the towel warmer stayed resolutely cold. Very few hooks in the bathroom, dotted in weird, useless places.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice location and surroundings. Very peaceful after a long day.. Have stayed a couple of times now and have found the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is always nice and fresh and not been sitting around for hours under heat lamps..
Cons: Ground floor room with no blinds or nets near the entrance leaving no privacy.. This would be my only complaint if any, otherwise a very pleasant stay..
8,0 Excellent
Pros: my breakfast was good. room was comfortable. swimming pool was nice. location was quiet. Staff were polite and helpful. I would recomend the hotel.
Cons: broken guttering meant that there was drip, drip all night, maintenance needs to be attended to. Wife said her breakfast could have been hotter.

Pros: Excellent location and stunning grounds, friendly staff and top class food. What more do you need?

Pros: Breakfast brilliant. Evening meal very good. Instant hot water and warm comfortable rooms. Gardens fantastic and the hotel's private beach was wonderful, scenic, calm sea, sand and rock pools. We hope to revisit in the future.

Pros: Very friendly staff, who made us and our dog feel so welcome - nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was amazing and the chef was accommodating in providing us with many vegan options. We stayed there over Christmas, and the hotel was beautifully decorated, a magical place to spend the festive season. Also, the dog was allowed in the dining room, which meant he didn't have to stay shut in the bedroom while we ate. Located within walking distance or a very short drive to the coast. I can honestly say we had the perfect Christmas there, thank you!

Staff have always been welcoming and kind. Pretty much ideal for a discrete and restful weekend if the mood takes you in the dark days of winter.

Pros: Friendly hosts, lovely breakfast, great location and fantastic views.
Cons: My only slight quibble would be that the Wi-Fi signal was poor at the top of the house. A booster would sort this out.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding 6 star service in a brand new retro-chic wonderful retreat hotel. What a stunning and wonderful experience. Sharon and Nigel anticipate your every need - in fact exceed it by providing what you didn't know you needed!! From the welcome at the door by Sharon to the thank you departure wave by both hosts as we left - the stay was PERFECT. They have branded each of the rooms with a music theme - either of a singer or a band - we were in Freddie Mercury - right at the top of the house. Everything is high quality - from the beautiful wooden entrance hall floor to the deep pile carpet on the stairs and landings. There is an amazing lounge room outside the actual house - in which there is complimentary tea and coffee, honesty bar, comfy sofas, board games and a lovely wood burning stove. The location is perfect - with sea views as the road is only 1 street back from the sea and a wonderful park right next door to walk. Only 10 minutes walk into the town of Falmouth - this wonderful place has everything you need. The breakfast was plentiful and such a range of wonderful delights - including home made flapjacks to take away. When you arrive Sharon takes you to the room - makes sure you are comfortable - there are tea and coffee facilities and a fridge in the room with fresh milk and home made "grandmas" chocolate Tiffin. A truly luxury experience.
Cons: Having to go home - I was sad to leave and I will for sure be back to stay with them again :)

Cons: Quite expensive.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, great location, staff very friendly and always smiling, couldn’t do enough for you. Found the mattress hard however housing keeping placed a mattress topper on the bed and had no problems after that .
Cons: The food was Al Carte and not appetising, slow service especially as the hotel wasn’t busy, their hotel in Sidmouth knocked spots off them food wise. Menu didn’t change much either each day, so when you stay for four nights you don’t get a lot of choice

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. General ambience and very cheerful and helpful staff. Relaxing interior.
Cons: Room immediately above cold room compressors, kept waking me throughout night.

Pros: The hotel was well situated, close to the train station, town and the beach. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful throughout and going above and beyond. Thoroughly enjoyed the use of the spa, the restaurant and breakfast included within room rate. There was a great variety of food options.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: A great place to relax the staff were really relaxed and friendly and made us feel at home.. facilities were fab great pool and the spa was worth paying extra for!!
Cons: Our room with a terrace was very clean and comfy but a bit tired!! The edging round the bath needed repainting and the silicone was a bit tired but that's if I have to say a negative!!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Views from balcony were good. Was alarmed to receive notification after the booking about the construction of a new building but upon arrival this didn’t affect us. Pool facilities were ok, could of done with more places to hang towels up and 2 lounge beds needed updating. Steam room wasn’t very steamy either. But we still passed an enjoyable hour here. Close to the beach which was nice.
Cons: Bar staff could of been a bit friendlier. They’re not rude by all means but in comparison to how overwhelmingly friendly the other staff are.. little choice if you turn up to breakfast towards end, as expected with most hotels.

Cons: Bathroom was a little tired but reception staff received feedback with a positive manner

Pros: The staff were great and when they did find out it was our Anniversary they made an effort for us when we had our evening meal. The Hotel is amazing and we will definitely be back. Thank You
Cons: The only disappointing thing was our room didn't have any views. It was our 24th Wedding Anniversary so would of appreciated a bit of a view other than the Car Park but it didn't effect our couple of days at the hotel.

Pros: Very good all round - excellent views
Cons: Shower needed to be more powerful

Pros: Staff were very friendly and accommodating Made to feel very welcome. Facilities were good. Beds were very comfortable. Pool was good. Breakfast was really tasty.
Cons: I feel bad for the owners as there is a building site going up next to it which is blocking almost all of the view

Pros: Everything
4,0 Okay
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Condition of the room-too small. Plug in basin did not hold water. No walk in shower. Charged double VAT to stay-have written to the manager but no reply. Lounge being re-furbished but not informed. Parking left a lot to be desired
6,7 Good
Pros: The location was close to my work site, the hotel bar had good food and was reasonably priced.
Cons: No wifi in my room for the first 3 days. The wifi repeater installer was obviously completely unfamiliar with the concept of transmission beamforming. Took 3 days of daily complaints to the front desk until they moved me to a room that DID have wifi. This negatively impacted my ability to complete my time sheet and send as receive emails- as I was there for work. Additionally, the hotel had no hot water for two days of my stay. My "ocean view" room had a window that did not open- so much for fresh air and being able to keep my room cool.

6,0 Good
Pros: Great location, friendly staff and the view from the bar area was lovely. The Victorian architecture is cool.
Cons: Felt mugged off adding over 100 pounds for breakfast added. Charged me 12.50 for a bowl of granola! Took us back abit when we checked out. Was originally 312 pounds for room, stayed 4 nights and left with a bill of nearly 500 pounds because we added breakfasts to our stay. Mental!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent as were the staff
Cons: Only complaint was that it was a little dated and room could have done with decorating
