10,0 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast option could be slightly better
7,5 Good
Pros: A lovely hotel with staff that went the extra mile ( arranged for a driver to take me to the pharmacy when I had a blister on my hand caused by my crutches), water & coffee on hand all the time. Breakfast a help yourself buffet with enough choice to satisfy. My husband was particularly pleased with the waffle maker. The male staff person on duty in the breakfast room cleared tables quickly & wiped down. There were recycling bins for all plates, cups etc. The hotel was on the bay and our room overlooked the water with lovely views and was in a quiet location. A shuttle service from the hotel to Bart or the ferry was on hand every day to take us in to San Francisco.
Cons: The hotel was quite far away from San Francisco and unless you have Uber it was a long way to walk from Bart or the Ferry stations back to the hotel. No Taxis anywhere!! There are quite a number of homeless in the area living on the side of the road in RV's or tents. It was quite harrowing to walk past them especially late at night, however, the ones that spoke to us were pleasant.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool area as well. Even though it is small is very accommodating and it was very pleasant to relax in the hot tub and pool. The breakfast is simple but they had vegan and gluten free options so we were able to enjoy it. We also used the shuttle service twice and found it very accommodating.
Cons: My husband and I chose this hotel based on the fact that the photos showed that they had a very weel equipped gym but they don't. There is really almost nothing there, at least nothing compared with the photos and we were very disappointed with that.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very large and well laid-out room with plenty of amenities, terrific staff and excellent value.
Cons: Not a thing!
8,3 Excellent

Pros: Spa treatments were great.
Cons: Bedding wasn’t as comfortable as we would have expected. Room temperature was difficult to control (it was unseasonably warm outside). And finally, to have to pay $60 additional for parking overnight is a little steep. For what we spent on the room and the spa treatments and restaurant food/drinks (over $2000 combined) the parking should have been complimentary.

10,0 Excellent
Cons: no.
6,8 Good
Pros: I think that the staff was bright and really sweet. Lots of praise for them. Though it’s literally next to where planes take off, I heard incredibly little. I was dumbfounded and impressed. The key card worked every time.
Cons: The (king size) bed felt institutional; firm and soft and creaky and wrong. The air conditioner was whisper quiet which I found annoying because it left the room so quiet any thing was noise. Even the paddles in the ac unit clicking back and forth with no pattern - if that’s even what it was. The room next door seemed louder than they probably were but it was next to the headboard so I didn’t have a lot of choice. Except get the sleep I can, poor as it may be/very much was. I would maybe return if there was a nicer bed option, I’d just bring my own fan which is fine by me.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked that the room was very spacious.
Cons: I didnt like that the bathroom vent wasnt working.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Facility is clean, friendly staffs
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent.

Pros: Convenient location to SF Ferry terminal and Oakland coliseum. The walking path along the bay. Fresh smoothies and juices at breakfast. Would stay again.

7,5 Good
Pros: Very comfortable bed, large room
Cons: In the room, you can hear constant "white noise" like from working fridge, etc, spending more than 2 days makes you already quite sensitive for that unpleasant noise (although at the beginning is really not so detectable). It would be nice to see some vegetables and more variety of fruits on breakfasts.

Pros: This Hotel is first rate!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean! Wonderful staff in both the hotel and restaurant. Centrally located with convenient parking across the street. We would absolutely return again.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was smaller than most hotel rooms but completely sufficient for me and my husband. The hotel is beautifully and seemingly recently remodeled. Gorgeous. The staff were very helpful. There is no parking on site but there is a lot that is $40 per night or street parking. We decided to park on the street even though we were told that some people don’t think it safe. We found a spot one block away and had no problem. Because it was a Saturday night at 5 PM, we only ended up paying three dollars to park. Also, there is a Starbucks around the corner where we got our breakfast. We were attending a concert at the Greek theater across the UC Berkeley campus so the hotel location was super convenient. I will definitely stay in this hotel again when in Berkeley.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. Downtown Berkeley right next to the BART station. Rooms large and comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom in the Deluxe King room had a half sink with a glass shelf just above it making it difficult to wash your face or brush your teeth. DO NOT use the parking garage across the street from the Hotel. The Hotel failed to tell me that the $23.00 maximum resets at 2am and then you are charged an additional $23.00. So it is actually $46.00 per night.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We mentioned it was our anniversary so they left a little note, a card, and something to drink in our room!
Cons: We wanted to order late night room service but apparently there wasn’t anybody on the shift.

Pros: Perfect spot for an overnight layover. Staff was friendly and helpful. Got our room early, which allowed us to drop our things and then head to SF for the afternoon and evening.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Walking distance to Oakland stadium. Staff was nice but that's not enough to make up for the negatives.
Cons: Located in the slums. Tons of traffic noise right outside the window that kept us awake all night. Large areas of grout in the shower had black mold growing on it (I have pictures).
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: First they assigned me a dirty room with the door already open. Then the next room had a peeling bathtub. Then I almost got kicked off the shuttle to the airport because they did not write down my shuttle request. It was a bad experience.
Cons: Not to mention the loud party next door to my room all night. The hotel staff did nothing about it. I had to get up at 4am for a 6 am flight. The only good thing about this experience was the location. Shuttle ride was 5 mins to the airport.

Overview Reviews
Graduate Berkeley is a five-minute walk to campus at the corner of the city stir and game day buzz. We are steps from Shattuck Avenue shops and stops. A virtual post card from its counter culture past, Graduate Berkeley resides in the historically renovated Hotel Durant, making it the most storied place around. The lobby invites nods to the arts and academia, the well-traveled local and Berkeley’s Bohemian roots. Collegiate plaids mix with a faraway but familiar feel, like a home away from home.
1,0 Poor
Cons: I found cockroaches in my bathtub
6,7 Good
Pros: Location, Old Charm, Cleanliness. Cafe/Bakery was excellent! Walking distance to the Greek Theater and most of UC.
Cons: Rigid no cancellation policy at the price point would keep me away unless no other choice. Would expect full refunds 7 days out and prorated after. Fix the Daikin mini-split HVAC units and get rid of the noisy portables. Refill the very nice but empty soap & shampoo dispensers in the shower.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Its location.
Cons: No breakfast available.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Historic building in great location. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: No.
7,1 Good
Pros: Great check in staff
Cons: Power went out in hotel. Hotel unprepared to deal with issues it seemed especially visibility down dark hallways and staircases.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location to Greek Theater; friendly staff; comfy but small bed.
Cons: Our bathroom reeked; we kept the door closed and skipped showering in the morning because of it. The room had light from the hall and the street,so it was not possible to make it totally dark as a portable and extremely noisy air conditioning unit on the floor was attached to the window with a large hose. This place is old, let's say for what we paid, it's only really good quality was proximity to the Greek Theater. It is historic, but sure could use n update.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Graduate is in a nice location central to restaurants, bars and the school campus. The staff was very pleasant, and the adjacent restaurant (Henry's) and coffee shop (Tartine) were of good quality. The rooms are well appointed and lobby area is a nice place to hang out or meet up with friends.
Cons: The $35 charge for parking seemed high given nearby options, but I guess you're paying for the convenience. The beds could have been a little more firm.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location is great, restaurants are coffee shops are nearby, we booked for a concert @ the Greek Theater and it is at a great comfortable walking distance. The closet was surprisingly big comparing to other hotels. Staff was great at all times.
Cons: The room was a bit small, not bad.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: the location and the staff were great
Cons: the walls are not noise proof, lack of privacy
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel staff were kind. The rooms were cute and beds were comfortable. Parking was bad until the back parking lot was available to use. Sunday morning woke up to the fire alarms going off. No one coming around or making any announcement to evaluate. When we realized it could be legit we got out of bed and left the room. As we walked out there were still many ppl who stayed in the hotel and none of the hotel staff were trying to get ppl out. We decided just to leave since we were checking out anyway. Had it been a real fire there should have been way better staff direction. That was the only down fall of the hotel. The bar was any bother story. Very rude and I felt like they just ignored me at the bar. I probably won’t be back.
Cons: The Henry’s, the bar/restaurant connected to it. Horrible service. I felt like the color of my skin was an issue there.
4,0 Okay
Pros: N/A
Cons: On the good side, location was gd. Went to concert at the Greek; able to walk to hotel. Check-in was normal. Room was ok, fan didn't work, room smelled dusty. Service in lounge was poor. After the concert, my wife and I stopped in for a drink. The line wasn't long, but one guy kept ordering for waves of friends + bartender didn't tend to anyone else. After reaching the bar, bartender said that they aren't serving anymore. Of course, I complained, and they poured me a glass; still = service failure…inefficient patron mgmt. Bed was noisy, rooms were cramped for the price ($360+ w/pking). Worse part was the next morning...apparently, there was an evacuation, and I couldn’t hear an alarm on the 5th floor (+ there's a 6th floor). Wife heard something feintly, mainly cuz it was the same alarm they use at her emp’r, but i couldn't hear a thing even after we opened the door to the hallway...ill-equipped alarm system...feel they should have 1 in each rm or hallway vs somewhere in the distance. I guess power went out b/t 7:30-8:00am so the elevators didn't work when we were heading down. They have no back-up power or generator and the stairwells were very dark and tough to navigate while opening doors at each floor with bags in tow (who doesn't have emergency lighting ? fire code violation?). We didn't even know what was going on until the 2nd floor. There, we saw a hotel staff with lanterns, and we asked him what was going on. He said he didn't know...just knew they needed to evacuate the bldg, which made things scarier. What if we stayed in bed, and there a real emergency like a fire. The Graduate seemed quaint but, given our exp and overwhelming disappointment in their ability to keep guests safe, we'd never stay there again.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The service was good, but that's about it.
Cons: Paid for a deluxe room, and there was still almost no space to even put luggage. The air conditioner was a small unit that was in the room and took up what little space there was and was very noisy. There is no bathroom sink. The restaurant/bar has very minimal options and parking is $35 per night on top of the $250 just for the room for one night.

Pros: staff were very helpful and pleasant, room was spacious and bed was vey comfortable
Cons: breakfast and coffee was very ordinary could definately be improved
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about the Waterfront. staff was great.
Cons: only wish I had a view of the water. and was not told of the incidental which cost me and extra $95. which my partner had to cover.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Upgraded to water view room. Room overlooked a music festival but was very quiet nonetheless. Convenient, 2 blocks from train station and one block from the ferry.
4,2 Okay
Cons: The carpet in the room was dirty. It was way too expensive for a 3 star hotel.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location!
Cons: I thought we booked a room with a view...got a view of the parking lot. Asked to be moved and they accommodated us.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location. The staff was polite and helpful. We booked a standard queen room and ended up receiving a room with a large patio balcony overlooking the water. You could even see all the way across to San Francisco. I enjoyed seeing all the yachts in the marina, and all the bustle of Jack London square
Cons: The only thing I can complain about is the loud excessive horn blowing of the train coming through in the morning. It was exciting to see the train all day long but at 6 AM it was a bit much!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It was in a very nice location and beautiful views.
Cons: It was a little pricey.
7,1 Good
Pros: The location is really lovely and my room was are large. Other than that I can't say much else e about the hotel. As I mentioned below the staff was very nice, but very poorly informed. It felt as if the entire staff was new, minus one women, and that none of them had ever worked in service before.
Cons: The hotel was fine, but I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff knew so little. Every question I asked whether it was how much is an average Uber ride to the airport or is there a convenience store nearby? Was met with a blank stare and an I do not know. When I asked how I get a shuttle back to the hotel that night I was told by the bellman to just call the hotel. When I asked for a card with the number on it he stared at me blankly and then ruffled through a drawer and then told me he didn't have one. When I went to the front desk and asked for the same thing I was met with the same response until the manager came out and direct the young lady what to do. When I was not informed that the shuttle did not run on Saturdays after discussing with them that I would need a shuttle I was directed to an obscure sign on the wall. When I brought it up with the front desk mentioning that I now had no way to get to my location she turned the other way offer no help or solutions. I even asked the time from a maintenance person and he stared at me blankly, maybe he didn't speak English? I am uncertain. I do have to say they are all very nice just really uninformed. I felt like I was in some sort of hotel twilight zone. Also, there are no services at the hotel so in the am there is coffee served but no tea. In the room, it is the same, coffee only. There is a cafe attached to the hotel, but when I went there I paid close to $6 for tea.
4,8 Okay
Pros: Pillows and surrounding community.
Cons: Staff manger specifically was horrible and computer issues were over the top.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: The location only the location
Cons: The room was nasty the room was low budget they need to upgrade a lot in there in the management sucks

9,0 Excellent
Pros: The bathroom had a window for cross ventilation which was nice. The shower had been recently redone and was peaceful.
Cons: The air-conditioning kept shutting off. We unplugged it 3 times to restart the unit. I could have complained about it but plugging it back in rectified the issue and it wasn't worth waking someone up for. We did advise the desk on check out.
7,5 Good
Pros: We went for a weekend vacation, we wanted to relax and spend a good time in the city. The room was nice and comfortable, the bathroom was good and clean. We didn't wake up on time for breakfast so we don't know if this is good.
Cons: The staff is not very friendly, only answers what we needed and no extra conversation. We wanted more amenities which by the way, there as a note at the bathroom that we could ask for anything we missed and they would be able to provide. That is not exactly true, I needed hair conditioner and they didn't have it.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: It wasn't a buffet... Basic breakfast. toast.. Orange juice, coffee, bananas... Bagels
Cons: Just bigger selection of breakfast
7,9 Good
Pros: Clean, and comfortable room. The rate is a bit expensive for me, as it is a 15-20 min. walk from UC berkeley, my destination, but so far it is all right and I was satisfied with my stay.
Cons: It is the best if the room were equipped with the bath-tub.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Big, sparkling clean rooms. Complimentary breakfast and parking. Close to public transport to SF
6,7 Good
Cons: Being a motel its was too loud for me.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Manager Manny very helpful, allowing early arrival & providing extra breakfast items. Room was small but very updated and comfortable. You could tell everything recently updated, perhaps because Wyndham took over. Close to BART station which we used, but also free parking was available. The hardworking women cleaning the rooms were very helpful and friendly. Trader Joe's right across the street and University just an easy walk away.
Cons: The continental breakfast was fine with the basics, OJ, coffee, cereal, but no sitting inside or out, so you must bring to your room. It would almost be better just to skip the food and offer just coffee in the morning. We say this because of the paper cups, plates, plastic utensils which are used because of no dishwasher facilities. All of these items are going into the landfill which is very bad for the environment. We used so many styrofoam and plastic during our four day stay. Would have been better to use glass in the room as well. I understand the motel is very small, but an efficient dishwasher would eliminate so much waste. Especially in Berkeley, CA, you'd think this would be a concern.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The overall experience was great!
Cons: Our next door neighbors were having a loud discussion but just for a few minutes, thankfully.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was great. I m not sure why it does not have more stars. It was clean and the location was not that bad.
Cons: Rooms were s little small, but other then that they were fine for an over night work trip.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were outstanding, very personable. The room was large, comfortable, tasteful and quiet. I recommend it.
6,3 Good
Pros: Good location for the Greek theatre and restaurants. Very clean room. Comfortable bed
Cons: The area is not attractive. Driving by, I wouldn’t opt to stay there. Small room.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Most motels have horribly uncomfortable pillows, but these were fantastic! Also perfectly comfy beds. Room was clean and the bathroom newly updated.
Cons: The fan in the bathroom was constantly on. And the AC fan also did not turn off when I set the thermostat to off.

Cons: The shower was more like a sprinkle, serious issue for someone with long hair!
7,9 Good
Pros: Bed was pretty comfortable.
Cons: The shower head in the room had a very small diameter water output. It was maybe 2 inches. So showering took longer than normal. Pros: The room and facility was very nice. The pool and lounge area was really nice.
Cons: The check in lady was kind of rude and check in was not at 3 like the website states I had to wait until 4pm. One of the reps gave someone who's name was not on the room my room key without my permission. Check out was at 11am and not 12pm like the website states.

Pros: Sooooo this hotel doubled as my home away from home for one of my dear friend’s wedding and a birthday gift to my father. My friend got married right off Lake Merritt, with the wedding being the day before my dad’s birthday. Since my entire family would be in attendance, I decided to spoil him by getting him a suite for himself and my mom. Upon arrival I was thoroughly pleased with not only his room, but mine too. Fabulous layout, ample space, comfy beds, it was all just ideal.
Cons: There’s construction going on over here so the road situation is super confusing DURING THE DAY. Nighttime driving? Forget about it.

Pros: We booked this hotel last minute on an unplanned spontaneous trip. We booked and arrived within 30 minutes. The woman in front of us checking in was completely horrible, yelling and cutting down the gentleman working the front desk. He kept his composure and was very gracious. Once it was our turn he was just the same with us. We were impressed. He even upgraded our room to the water side for no charge because of our having to wait and listen to that woman. Room was clean and large, bed was comfy. The woman working the front desk late at night was amazing as well. Would definitely return.
Cons: The phone in the living area of the room, did not work. Thats it!

Pros: They are welcoming and professional. There appeared to be a small leak in the bathroom, which was fixed immediately. They also offered to switch my room; which wasn't necessary.

Pros: The location is excellent. The rooms are well decorated and well cleaned. The coffee maker works, the iron and ironing board work. The inn is only about 1/2 mile from 4th street where there are many excellent stores and restaurants. The inn has off street parking and let me keep my car there for 4 hours after I checked out. The wifi is strong. I was very pleased with this excellent and affordable hotel.
Cons: The fan in the bathroom is quite noisy, but that is my only complaint.

Pros: Good location, near grocery stores.
Cons: You can hear trains (sometimes very loud during night).

Pros: The room had been remodeled and was beautiful, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Over the years (22) we have stayed in several area hotels while visiting our daughter. She attended Cal and remained in the area. During those stays, we have been at Hiltons, Holiday Inns, Marriots, boutiques, etc. and these accommodations were comparable. From the outside, it's 50's design. But the room's interior was absolutely contemporary modern. Loved it and had as good a stay, if not better , than some large chain hotels. Very accommodating (we're now disabled) and a great small motel experience Will return!

Pros: Staff was efficient and friendly. Housekeeping was amazing. Anything we needed was there in a flash. Front office polite and accommodating. Will stay here again no question.
Cons: They put a $60 "security deposit" on my card at check in. This was not previously disclosed. Still waiting for my refund. They said it could take a week!
