The Congress has one of the most practical locations in Downtown Chicago. The amenities offered there are of high value, and the room's are always comfortable.
Some times the rooms have oddball design choices, but that can just be chalked up to the age of the hotel.
Rooms are a bit outdated but still really comfortable and clean
EXCELLENT location! Grand old hotel with impressive public areas. Excellent location in Michigan Ave, very close to Art Institute and Millennium Park and trains, and walking distance to river, Near North etc. Very clean and comfortable beds. Small fridge. Spacious room, tho no-where except floor to put cases. Bathroom very small but adequate. Good shower. Quiet room. Loved the nifty shower curtain!! I want one!
Room very 'minimalist' and with a cold feeling due to very high plain ceiling. Was up the lift, round the corner, through a door, round to the right, through another door to a side wing of the building. Felt like we were out the back in the grungy rooms. Room had been re-done, consisting of white paint being slapped around, but finishing was very rough in parts. Coffee-maker only. No tea facilities.
Location was amazing, well within walking distance of lots of interesting things. The view of the Chicago Skyline, especially at night was beautiful! Will definitely return!
Appreciated the price tag and the location, we were easily able to walk to State St. for shopping.
The hotel was really outdated. I had been excited about the hotel being historic, but I think my expectations were set too high. There was no ability to adjust the thermostats in the rooms, the bathrooms were very small and outdated (which was troublesome for my friend and I had to take turns to get ready in the morning), the walls were paper thin so you could hear the noise outside your room and next door... It was clean enough, but it is not a destination. Really it's a place you can rest your head so the next day you can get out as soon as possible to go explore the city.
