Overview

Originally built to accommodate visitors to the Worlds Colombian Exposition in 1893, the guest rooms and suites of the Congress Plaza Hotel are truly spacious by todays standards. There are a total of 870 guest accommodations, including 36 deluxe suites, many of which overlook the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan. NO RESORT FEES.High speed internet in guest rooms is complimentary. Wireless internet in the lobby IS free for all registered guests. Adult rates start at age 15 and older for a fee of $20 additional per person. Smoking rooms are based on availability at check in. Iron/Ironing board & Hairdryer & safe deposit box in all guest rooms. Car parking is located just 1/2 a block from the hotel. Self-Park overnight is $58.00. No in-and-out privileges. 25.00 deposit per night required for incidentals

Definitely needs an upgrade in the hallways and restaurant. Chipping paint, old musty carpet and very outdated decor make it a sad place to wander through. The room itself was updated and clean, all but the bathroom and closet. While I appreciate a skyline print to decorate an urban room, perhaps Manhattan doesn’t make sense on a wall in Chicago?

Great base of operations and close to the theater I was attending a show at, which was its biggest plus. Check-in woman had a slight attitude, but check-out woman was very sweet. Hallways showed signs they needed some care (cracks, chipping paint, etc.). Room had no visual appeal; made me feel like I was in a youth hostel. Ice maker on my floor didn't work. I’m in a wheelchair. Most everything was accessible but the shower/tub was a conventional bathtub so I couldn’t shuffle into it. So I did sponge baths.

The room was so outdated, the bed hard, the tub handle rusty, the shower/tub area are dirty, hot water not working, no sound cancellation (ended up can’t sleep). Ac can’t be adjusted. Not worth for the price i paid Only good is location

The spacious double room was great. My only complaints would be the old furnace/AC which we couldn’t control the temperature of so the room would be too warm and some of the pillows being too stiff.

I loved the great view and access to Lollapalooza. I think what could’ve been better is an earlier check-in time since I had to wait over an hour to check due to others checking in at the same time.
