A Comfortable Road Trip
Pros: The mid size SUV (Nissan Rogue) was very comfortable, safe and easy to drive. It met our needs very well. We also appreciated the service received at the downtown Chicago rental center. The representative was very helpful in getting us started on our trip.

One way drop off
Pros: Vehicle was in cery good condition. Location in down town Chicago was very centrally located and very convenient. The price for a mini van was excellent.
Cons: The company may need to give more traiining to staff regarding customer service. One staff member has unprovoked rudness to customers. No ‘please’, ‘thank you’ or eye eye to contact. Generally aggressive tone. Others are nice but ‘matter of fact’ attitude.

So Happy I Booked with Alamo!
Pros: Alamo was great start to finish. The check in/ pick up process was great! They even let me choose m car- which made it even better! The gentlemen who helped me at check in and find the cars were all very nice and accommodating. The younger girl who helped me when I dropped off the car was very sweet and the process was quick and painless!

Ok car but horrible drop-off
Cons: We waited over 40 minutes for an agent to help one family when returning our car. Our return took less than one minute once we were seen. The agent helped the person in front of us go through every car in the lot, with its price, to determine which car they'd want to extend their rental with. When my husband pleaded that we were on our way to the airport and would be late, the agent was dismissive. The car was supposed to be the largest car one can get before an SUV but it wasn't very big and not comfortable.

Pros: Car was very comfortable for a 7.5 hour drive.
Cons: Car was mostly clean but some garbage was on the passenger side floor (empty bag of chips and plastic spoon). Pickup location in Chicago was very busy and the office is very small so there were a lot of people crammed into a small space - trying to form an organized line in the order that people entered the office was impossible - very awkward to wait.

Double check location
Cons: On Kayak I searched for car at O'Hare airport. Enterprise came up with a good price. When I arrived at Enterprise off airport location, they had no cars and I was told my rental was at another location 10 minutes away. They provided a taxi phone number. It was 45 with traffic in a cab. Upon arrival at location, car provided was dirty inside and out and had an unpleasant odor. The location added another 35 minutes to my drive to Milwaukee. My first lousy experience with Enterprise. These guys are usually good.

Wrong class of car
Pros: People were friendly
Cons: They gave me the wrong class of car for what I reserved and paid for. I questioned them at pickup and again at drop-off, and they insisted that it wasn't possible for their system to be wrong. Bu when I got home and checked my email for the reservation, they were wrong.

Cons: The upholstery in the car was completely stained and filthy. I asked if that was going to be an issue and the guy renting me the car said, "We don't care as long as it's not ripped." The drivers side floor mat had a huge tear in it and the service light was on the whole time (I found out that the car was due for an oil change when I returned it). The guy who rented the car to me listed the gas tank volume to be basically empty on my rental forms. However, when I returned the car, they tried to charge me for not filling the gas tank since it was marked in the computer system as having 3/4 of a tank when I picked it up. I returned it with almost half a tank in it so needless to say, I wasn't too pleased. I will look to rent elsewhere from now on.

I went to Hertz instead
Pros: Nothing. I got there and they told me I needed an utility bill with my credit card in order to rent a car. I told Enterprise I just rented a car at Hertz and they didn't ask me for a utility bill and they still wouldn't let me rent a car so I walked to Hertz instead and I got a car for the same price that was even better. Enterprise is terrible.
Cons: Everything. Don't go to Enterprise, go to Hertz instead.

Declined CDW twice to counter person; ended up cha
Cons: Declined all coverages, including CDW, twice when asked by counter rental person. Did not look at contract once signed and printed; found out a daily collision damage waiver had in fact been put on contract. Tried to get adjusted; Dollar refused, saying I had signed it. Strongly suggest making them say it all back, not just sign the electronic keypad. Won't be doing Dollar again.

No Problem Rental
Pros: I had no issues with the vehicle, and drop-off was no problem. Also, I had a "to be determined" vehicle in exchange for a lower rate. It was a good decision.
Cons: The pick-up was a little problem due to the staffing at MDW. Because it was Sunday?

They ripped me off.
Cons: We reserved a rental for Dec 21 through Dec 23rd back in October. The rental price for the 2 days was $97.00.We found out that we wouldn't be able to get the car back until 5pm instead of 12pm. When we picked up the car we told them that and expected to pay for the extra time. Instead of adding the 5 extra hours they cancelled our entire reservation and changed it to a same day reservation and charged us $400.00. We asked for an explanation and they said that was the way they do things. We will NEVER use them again.

Charged for 'express fuel'
Cons: Chicago Midway -- the rental itself was not very clean on the exterior and the paint was pretty beat up. That aside, pick up wasn't exactly pleasant, but... That's sort of the norm with some airports in my experience. I was charged $15 over and above my original rate for something called 'express fuel.' My understanding is that if you use the car for less than 75 miles, regardless of the gas you put into it before returning, you are charged this rate. I don't have the slightest idea why they would encourage renters to put more miles on the car by punishing them if they drive <75mi, but that was the case for me. The aspect that bothered me most was that the attendant made no mention of this surcharge when I returned the vehicle. So yeah, topped off the tank, no damage to the vehicle, returned well before the time I rented it for, but still was charged for express fuel.

quick and easy
Pros: Yea, you have to take a shuttle from the airport to the rental place, but the drivers get you there with a sense of urgency. Once at the counter they were very quick and efficient with getting me the vehicle. They didn't try to push the extras on me which was also nice.
Cons: It was slightly confusing where to go to pick up the shuttle back to the airport, but one of the guys saw me looking around like a doofus and told me where to go.

Don't use if you are on a tight schedule
Pros: They had the car ready to go when we finally arrived at their facility. They let me leave the car and keys on the desk with my email address because I was in a hurry.
Cons: We watched several shuttles come hang go for other rental companies before one arrived for Payless. Hertz and Enterprise had between 5 & 7 come and go before we got on with Payless.

Pros: The car was what I expected. Pickup and drop off is relatively easy. The location is off airport but not too far way. Only takes ~5min by the shuttle.
Cons: When I picked up the car, they put the gas option on my rental although I didn't ask for it in my quote. They said it would be taken off from my final payment if I returned the car with full gas. However when I returned the car (with a full tank of gas), they couldn't take the charge off, the agent tried a few times but their computer system didn't allow him to do so. I had to catch my flight, so the agent told me that he would ask someone else to help later. They eventually managed to give me the refund, but not all of them (only a few dollars off). I would give a higher rating if there was not such an incident.

Not very impressed....
Pros: The car itself was comfortable and easy to drive.
Cons: The staff there was very unfriendly and not helpful. I arrived and they tried to charge me more than the price I was quoted, by an additional $60.00! When I complained, the man said he would change it in the computer. When I informed him that would not do, that I wanted it in writing, he scowled and gave me a nasty look. Yesterday at drop off their printer was not working, so they said they would email me a receipt. Guess what? No receipt as of yet. Now I have to go and call and track it down. NOT impressed at all, and will likely never use this company again.

Good overall, but watch out for extra charges
Pros: The van to the airport was very fast and timely. The pickup and dropoff were very quick and easy. The car we rented was great, it saved a lot of gas, was the Hundai Accent. I recommend this car, as it got over 30 mpg on highway.
Cons: The van pick-up at airport took a while. Maybe 25 minutes waiting at the curb for van. The guy at the counter charged me extra for rental, until I read the bill carefully. So I recommend always reading the bill carefully before signing off.

Hassle returning car and getting correct bill (ini

Cons: I returned the car early (after just 1 day instead of 1 week as originally planned). The clerk explained that the computer wasn't working so she would send me an email with the final receipt. When I checked my emails a few hours later, I saw that she emailed me the receipt and it was for a full week rental rather than prorated for my 1 day rental. I called the local agency right away but the call was transferred to a national customer service office, and the person I spoke with said he would correct the mistake and email me the corrected receipt. Bin ever received it, so the next day I called the local agency again and spoke to the clerk, who then made the correction and sent an email with the correct amount billed. So a lot of extra effort and time needed on my part to fix their mistake.

Cons: Cash option, I got my wallet stolen and car broke down, my job requires a car to work and since I don't have a car or my wallet, I couldn't rent the vehicle that I need it to at least do my job, cause they required a credit or debit card, I have plenty of money on my bank card!!!

comfortable and economical car, acceptable cuising performance
Pros: We had a good car that proved very comfortable for what was a long journey, from Chicago to Newark in 8 days, with a few days stopped off here and there on the way. Fuel consumption was very good, particularly for a car in the USA (albeit a Korean one): 50mpg was pretty typical going a steady 60-70mph. Luggage space was very good. Budget was very amenable to our changing the drop-off location from Boston to Newark, at no additional cost (one-way rental cost already paid).
Cons: We had to go for a one-way rental, which gave a very much more expensive per-day price for the car, particularly for a short rental of 8 days. Notwithstanding this expense, it was possible to get a one-way rental and it was, if anything, less expensive than other suppliers.

Great car for the price!
Pros: We stayed about a mile down at a nearby hotel. The guy at Budget volunteered to co e pick us up to get our rental car! Going beyond the call of duty! The car was really nice Mazda 6 with a push button start engine, leather seats, and an awesome Bluetooth radio system. Everybody at the rental office was very friendly and they even washed our car and vacuumed it out right before we received the keys.
Cons: Can’t say anything bad about this Budget rental.

Pros: Car was clean, spacious and drove well.
Cons: Very tired of rental car check in counter employee tacking on "optional" charges. I want exactly what I reserved. Nothing more, nothing less for the price at which I reserved the rental. If I didn't want insurance when I reserved the car I do not want it now. Bait and switch. Also, my car seat would not adjust so hopefully they will fix that for future customer. I took it "as is" only because it took me 40 minutes to get my rental car and it was 1 am in the morning and had an hour drive to hotel.

Cons: I was supposed to get a specialty car and was given a compact. I questioned it and was told that was not the case that this was a specialty car. Most defiantly not. When arriving the parking garage there was a line of cars in front of me with a sign over them that said specialty cars. Then I was really upset. Being out of cars is one thing but lying about it is another. I am extremely disappointed in the service and staff I experienced.

Pros: Car was clean, rate was fairly affordable, and return process was quick and simple.
Cons: Thrifty/Budget only had one representative at pick up desk for 20+ mins, so pickup time was lengthy and not ideal. Also, car did not have cruise control or a key fob, which aren't deal breakers, but were inconveniences.

Pros: Unfortunately I fell down a flight of stairs and was unable to drive except for the first couple of days of my 2 week rental. Due to the terms of the agreement I was unable to return the car early or designate another driver (unless we both returned to the place of the rental....with me driving.) The car was great but I won't try this again.....too inflexible. The empoyees at pick up and return were very efficient and friendly and helpful. I had to drive the car back for the return which was unbelievably painful.
Cons: The price and restrictions.

Lack of initial information! Poor customer service
Pros: I did not like anything about my experience.
Cons: Because your company did not initially inform me that Chicago residents could not rent from the company it ruined my entire trip. I traveled almost an hour and a half from the north side of Chicago to Midway Airport thinking that I had a car reserved. I even called TWO TIMES to confirm. I even asked the agents on the phone if there was anything that I needed to know and had also given them my address. There should be an alert in your system if one of the car companies does not rent to people who aren't flying in or out of the airport. I ended up having to take a Greyhound bus the next day to Detroit which took me 7 hours and caused me to miss the birth of my first niece. I am NO HAPPY about my experience what so ever.

Poor customer Service
Pros: The whole booking process was super easy online and the car rental location was easy to find. When I checked in the only option they gave me was a Yaris, when the category I booked for was a 5 person, 2 bag car. This was very disappointing as we were traveling with a 7 year old and needed the extra space and a Yaris was NOT going to cut it. The attendant didn't offer any kind of help but offered to up charge us to an SUV, which is not what I asked.
Cons: I felt as if I was ripped off in the process, ive recently rented at LAX and it was not this difficult the last time. I was upcharged $5 per day to get a very minimal upgrade on a car. Very disappointing.

The place was closed when we went to pick up the car.
Cons: The time scheduled for pick up was at the same time the Hertz office closed. There was no where on the online process where it indicated the office hours. We were very disappointed that we could not pick up the vehicle. The Hertz customer service was terrible. They were not accommodating nor would help us locate another vehicle. They did not want to give us the same price. They were horrible.

Poor Customer Service; Different Price than Kayak
Pros: Had 4 wheels.
Cons: On arrival, the customer service was poor, unhelpful and aggressively tried to get me to buy their insurance. Car was Okay not in best shape. Upon return there was long wait with only one attendee. Attendee gave different information than Kayak and previous attendee when car was picked up resulting in an addition $200 charge.

Pros: Was fairly convenient to my hotel. Location was selected because of later hours than other rental places and 24 hour drop off.
Cons: Fuel reading was inaccurate on contract stating the car had more fuel than it actually had. Staff wasn't very friendly. Had additional $100 charged to my credit card that I wasn't prepared for but said it would be refunded, awaiting refund. Had to pay for an Uber to get to and from location when other rental car companies will come pick you up and drop you off for free. This added about $15 to the cost of the rental. I was less than 1 mile away.

Cons: Reservation was for 12pm. Showed up at 12:05pm, and the Chicago office was closed - no staff whatsoever. Couldn't pick up a car, and the best alternative Hertz could provide was almost 2x the price a few blocks away.

AVIS is Running a Scam w/ Fuel Option
Cons: The AVIS rental counter associate would not allow me to remove the fuel option when renting the car. When I returned with the car full of fuel, I had to go to the rental counter again to remove the fuel charge. This is essentially a scam, because AVIS knows that a certain percentage of customer are going to be pressed for time to catch their airplane and won't go to the rental counter to remove the fuel charge. So even though a customer fill the tank of gas upon returning the vehicle, AVIS will still charge them as if they returned the car empty.

Very poor “preferred” collection
Pros: Good transfers to airport, avios points
Cons: Paperwork was just thrown at me. No customer service. GPS was set to avoid all highways and tolls So 1.5 hour journey ended up taking 3.5 hours Car was filthy inside and out.

Holiday rush - long lines
Pros: Car size for price, cleanliness, condition of the car - even with over 20,000 rental miles on it.
Cons: Long lines - over 30 minutes to get to the counter, then the agent wanted to explain why she could not find a car for me - I kept reminding her that I just wanted a car, not an explanation...

Pros: The vehicle and the cleanliness
Cons: The pricing seemed to be much higher than everyone else for a one day rental. I had no choice though. All flights were cancelled from Chicago and I could not get anything until 2 days later. Needed a car to drive home. At return of the vehicle; there was a lot of added in charges that I was never made aware of. Also, they tried to charge me for a full tank of gas, when I actually only used 1/3 of a tank.

Tried to rent me a car not in the size I wanted
Pros: I liked how easy it was to return the car and I liked how smooth the shuttle experience to the airport was, and i liked the car's cleanliness (once I finally negotiated to get the type of car I chose online.
Cons: I chose a midsize passenger car online and the guy tries to rent me an SUV when I get there, and then with difficulty they find me a midsize car finally. Stressful.

Knows How To Take Reservation But Not How To KEEP
Pros: When I finally received the car I wanted, it was great.
Cons: Up until that point it was miserable working with Avis. We had reserved a minivan as we have 2 carseats for kids and it would provide the best arrangement in the vehicle. At the counter, it was clear they hadn't actually set aside a minivan and tried to upsell me to a "nicer" car. Since I was exhausted after flying with 2 young kids, I said sure, even at a higher cost. Unlike a minivan with the two separate seats in the middle, it had two rows of seats in the back, making it impossible for anyone else to get into the car after the car seats were strapped in - this obviously wouldn't work. After going back in and demanding a minivan, they said they'd have one ready in 15min, during which we're just sitting there with two restless kiddos (1yo and 3yo). When they switched us back to the minivan, they also did not adjust the price, and we were simply left charged an extra $15/day for a car we didn't take. No apology, no attempt to correct the billing. I will not be working with Avis again. Be sure to demand the car you want and don't let them upsell you. We paid 2x the price quoted on Kayak.

Drop off and pick up were awful
Pros: There was very little I liked about the rental except maybe the price through Kayak. When I priced the rental directly on Avis' website it was more than double the price we got at Kayak.
Cons: Only one person was working the rental desk upon arrival. Even though there were only three people in front of us in line, it took over 30 minutes to rent a car AT MIDNIGHT. It wasn't during peak hours. We were told we were being charged for a full tank of gas which would be credited when we returned the car with a full tank. The credit wasn't applied. The person checking us in upon return said this was something he had been seeing a lot and didn't know why. He wasn't able to apply the credit so we had to go stand in line again to get our money back instead of catching the shuttle for the terminal. This provided unnecessary stress to our family, and I think this is a money making scheme on Avis' part. Most people probably don't have the time to stand in line to get a credit when they have a flight to catch. Also, we rented an SUV. We were given a Subaru Outback which was very uncomfortable didn't provide the extra room we needed. Overall, not a good experience.

Pros: I rented from Icarus cars from several dealer this trip. National was the only one that actually had the car I reserved when I arrived, and did not jerk me around. Also, no line at midway (but the others had long lines...).

Cons: Way too much confusion trying to locate a car in the class I had reserved (luxury). 5 different people asked if we needed help (we did) but none delivered. After much delay, we got a car that was just cleaned and we’re on our way. Not a very good showing.

They didn't have a car for me on Thanksgiving!!
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Worst company ever. Told me they gave out all of their cars the night before thanksgiving and they didn't have any car to give me for my reservation. Had to rent from Avis for $260.00 for 1 day when my reservation with Economy was for $70.00

Pros: The employees of the company are friendly and helpful. The car was new and comfortable.
Cons: The company has a hidden "mandatory" roadside assistance fee of $100. It is NOT printed on any of the paperwork, nor or is there a notification when making the reservation on Kayak. It doubled the price of my rental, but there was 0 communication upfont. I reserve thru Kayak all the time and expect they would be disappointed in the hidden costs as well.

The car that wasn't there
Cons: "Reserved" online. It was not made clear that the company was offsite or that a credit card number was necessary to hold the car. Our flight arrived nearly 2 hours late. We took the shuttle to the rental counter only to realize Economy was in a different location. Called both the local number and the toll-free number and got no answer. By the time my phone calls caught up with me it was 12:30 am and the message was that they would hold the car until 10:00. So now we were stuck at Midway. Luckily we were able to rent anothe car but had to cram 6 adults with luggage into 1 car instead of 2 and had to pay a premium price. I would not use Economy again.
