They wanted $400.00 deposit and they don't use debit cards for intown rentals. You can only use debit card for flying. You must have an major credit card to rent a car, horrible had to go all the way back home to get credit card

Excellent service. Staff was patient and helpful. It was late at night, past the counter service hours. The staff was manning the booth/office in the parking garage. It was cold and late but the staff was patient, helpful and kind. I especially appreciated their service after my long day of traveling/flying. Also the return was easy. Thank you very much. Ethan and his team did a wonderful job.

They had the best price compared to other companies for a one-way rental. I was able to choose from 4 different vehicles, and the Nissan Sentra I chose was awesome.The pickup experience was lacking, as there weren’t enough people working and the employees seemed frustrated.

Smooth experience other than the tires being 5-7 lbs underinflated and the warning light on the drivers mirror, indicating a car was next to you, would randomly light up when I was the only one on a 3 lane highway at 2am.

I was charged $196 to rent a vehicle for one day after my flight was canceled. I was charged to $500 security deposit. I did not get my security deposit back they have charged me $339 to rent a car for one day I had the car in my possession for six hours. I am very upset

Reserved a car and prepaid for it. Went to pick it up Friday afternoon at Chicago Midway Airport and there were no cars available. No communication, they just told you to wait and they will call you. 13 people ahead of me were waiting for over an hour they. After an hour of this I gave up and cancelled my reservation. No apology, no information as to how to get a credit back.

Booking was a snap and the car we drove was great. But…the desk people we encountered didn’t know what they were doing. I had prepaid, then they charged my credit card again -more than the original cost, called their 1-800 line and got no answers. They kept saying it was my fault for not questioning them. I DID QUESTION THEM AND GOT NO ANSWERS. Everyone I encountered kept passing me off to the next person. VERY frustrating. NEVER AGAIN! They still owe me almost $300.00 😡

The pick up process was horrible. Didn’t have the car I had reserved. Despite me checking in online, the paperwork process was slow and disorganized. After i agreed to take a different kind of vehicle, no price adjustment was offered. Then, had to re-do the entire pick up process. Only then did they say the type of car I had ordered had been returned, so went through the entire process again. From that point on, everything was fine. Good vehicle. No problem at drop off.

The car was in horrific condition cleanliness as well as under the hood i presume and being a single woman driving through ice snow ect i felt beyond unsafe i returned the car early and didnt even fret about the 10$/gal gas total. I drove quite slow the entire time worst rental ever and i will not use the company again.

The pick up and drop off details were incorrect on our confirmation, so the Hertz desk at the airport wouldn’t let us collect a car from them. They sent us to a different location and we ended up spending over $50 on Ubers trying to find it. When we got there the people on the desk were very rude and blamed us, even after I showed them the documentation we had been sent which had the incorrect information on it.

At Midway we were sent to get our car to find it was not there. We were given another car but it did take more time then we had hoped. The car we got drove fine but was not very clean (sticky on parts of the door) and had a very heavy cleaner smell which made me wonder if someone had smoked in the car or thrown up. The car also made it whistling sound even though all the windows up. Bottom line- the car was safe to drive and got us to where we needed to go but was that pleasant. When we went to return the car that was also in ordeal as a drop off key box was not an option and we have been told it had been. We were eventually able to text the branch manager and came up an alternative plan this again took much more time than planned.

The person attention was good. On the negative side, Enterprise had terrible and conflicting signage at Midway airport. You have to use the signs for National because in several places there are no Enterprise signs or they direct you to the wrong floor. Also, we had a malfunction warning light go off in the car within 50 miles of starting to drive our Nissan (the light was cryptic, but using the owner's manual, we figured out that it may have something to do with the automatic breaking system-- but nothing about how serious it was or how to fix it). The malfunction warning light then stayed on for the entire rest of the rental, which made us worry, although the car drove fine.

The guy at midway airport was really nice. They were very quick and efficient too.I did notice that there was a bunch sticky stuff in the back seat when I got to Kentucky. It didn’t come from me as the only thing I put in the backseat was my suitcase, so I’m a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the vehicle. Also the vehicle itself shakes a lot when you get up to 70mph, and overall I wasn’t impressed with the Ford Ecosport.

Compact = Full size apparentlyNothing stood out.Took 45 minutes to get our rental car. I booked a full size and she they put me in a VW Jetta which is a compact car. I even mentioned that I don’t believe it is a full size but she said it is according to Avis. After the 45 minute wait I didn’t feel like arguing or asking for another car because they were already very short on available cars. Horrible experience. I will be sticking to National or Hertz next time.

Asked for coverage of tolls. It didn’t work. I had to pay all my own tolls. I called and was told that it wasn’t in my contract. Got the receipt and was charged for it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m calling in the morning and I sure hope I get reimbursed.

The first car we were given had a problem with the admissions system. The second car was NOT a full-sized car. This car had a very detectable cigarette smoke odor. We finally left the rental car facility an hour after we arrived, and the car had to be returned an hour early because our rental day began when we were given the ticket for the first car. If we were even 5 minutes late we were told we would be charged for another whole day’s rental fee. The staff was not particularly courteous or professional with the exception of the young woman who checked us in at the rental drop off. This car was rented at Midway Airport in Chicago. We will not rent from Avis / Budget again.

No, the staff was not super helpful. We waited at least 40 minutes for a car after reserving one. They had a car available that was a step up for an upgrade and in my opinion, they should have offered it to us for the same price since they didn't have a car for us. The friendliness of the staff. They were presented with a failing that was out of their control, and they did their best to resolve the situation.My vehicle wasn't available when I arrived, on time, to pick it up. I wasn't a walk-up. I reserved this rental well in advance. I wasn't the only one waiting, either. I ended up waiting for nearly an hour (we were told it would take 15 minutes) before my partner and I walked up to the counter to complain. The staff was friendly and did their best to resolve the situation. Not long after complaining, we were on our way, but not before the delay forced us to miss an appointment and change other travel plans. Despite the professionalism of the staff, I'm not sure I'd rent from Thrifty again. I suspect that this incident is the result of an overbooking practice. When I book a vehicle in advance, I expect it to be there when I arrive. I've never had this issue with any other rental car company.

Never AGAIN!NEVER AGAIN! This was booked less than a week before for car to be picked up on the Wed eve of Thanksgiving. They failed to disclose that they were not located with the other rental car companies at the airport, and that you have to take a 2nd shuttle that you call for to get to their lot. I started calling at 4:30pm and after 30 minutes of calling with no answer (once someone answered and hung up the phone), I took a cab to their lot only to find they were closed!!!! Took cab back to the airport and rented from Alamo, and the charge ended up being $110 less then Payless for the 3 day rental.

Heads up for Midway, you need to take 2 different shuttles to rentalThe price was affordable...staff was pleasant. Car was clean.They don't tell you that you have to take a second shuttle from the first shuttle at Midway. The pick up office is so tiny, my luggage had to be brought in each piece at a time, since it wouldn't fit through the doorway. Only 2 people could wait in the office, it was so small. The parking lot does not have a drive to drop off car, so you just park it anywhere. No one tells you to write down your own mileage and bring it to the desk.

You get what you pay for?Chevy Malibu was nice driving car. Price was great.Got to rental office. Place packed, except no one from Payless around. Very disorganized. Long wait. Finally got car -- not the cleanest but we just wanted to go by then. Realized the odor we smelled was smoke. Yuk. Next day we found French fry holders, a plastic cup and food wrappers under passenger seat. Washed rear window while getting gas only to discover the grime was on the inside. Also, no mention of GPS, toll tag, extras, etc while checking out car. Would have been nice to know about some of that stuff, especially due to toll roads around Chicago. The drop off wasn't much better than pick up. One agent, packed small office. All in all you are getting what you pay for. Decent car, bare bones customer service. Be prepared to be underwhelmed.

A dirty car with a bad tireFirst car was very dirty, and while I was driving the front left tire blew out. When I traded it for another car, the service rep. told me it had had a slow leak prior. They should NOT have given it to me! The replacement car was newer, cleaner, and nicer. But the hassle (and potential danger) was upsetting.I think I already explained, above. I will give credit to the very helpful representative at the O'hare location, who helped me replace the bad car from the Midway location.

The driver from the rental shuttle stop to their off- offsite location was congenial.Tires on van were truly bald. Had it not been a cool weekend we woulda had a blow out. Not exaggerating—they had like 0-1 42nds left on them. Van was dirty, lots of stains on light gray fabric seats. Had no head rests in middle row, they’d been removed. We drove it all over middle of Illinois from Chicago and it was not comfortable or safe in the back for our kids without anything to rest head on/protect neck in middle row.

Requires two shuttles to a back alley building with no other businesses around. Very secluded. Sketchy. They have NO shuttle after 6pm or before 8am but only disclosed that after I had paid. I had book an Uber at 4am in this secluded dark place after dropping the car off with the keys in a lock box.I will not use this again.

Shuttle was waiting for us at the rent a car center to take us to pick up the van.The fact that there is no accommodations to get or from AVR before or after normal hours of operations is a large detractor. AVR is located in an industrial area. No numbers of contacting a cab/Lyft/Uber were posted or provided. Even though AVR informs you ahead of time it is not of much help.

This was a bait and switch. I liked nothing about it. I'm surprised and disappointed that Kayak even lists this company as a rental option. I'm hesitant to use Kayak in the future because of this experience.This was a bait and switch. I liked nothing about it. I reserved an SUV and they didn't have any ready for my arrival (and I wasn't early). We had to rent a mini van that had numerous issues (cracked bumper, missing panels, scratches, broken hubcaps) and wasn't comfortable on long drives.

Chrysler 300 in ChicagoI rented from Icarus cars from several dealer this trip. National was the only one that actually had the car I reserved when I arrived, and did not jerk me around. Also, no line at midway (but the others had long lines...).

The car that wasn't there"Reserved" online. It was not made clear that the company was offsite or that a credit card number was necessary to hold the car. Our flight arrived nearly 2 hours late. We took the shuttle to the rental counter only to realize Economy was in a different location. Called both the local number and the toll-free number and got no answer. By the time my phone calls caught up with me it was 12:30 am and the message was that they would hold the car until 10:00. So now we were stuck at Midway. Luckily we were able to rent anothe car but had to cram 6 adults with luggage into 1 car instead of 2 and had to pay a premium price. I would not use Economy again.

The employees of the company are friendly and helpful. The car was new and comfortable.The company has a hidden "mandatory" roadside assistance fee of $100. It is NOT printed on any of the paperwork, nor or is there a notification when making the reservation on Kayak. It doubled the price of my rental, but there was 0 communication upfont. I reserve thru Kayak all the time and expect they would be disappointed in the hidden costs as well.

They didn't have a car for me on Thanksgiving!!Nothing.Worst company ever. Told me they gave out all of their cars the night before thanksgiving and they didn't have any car to give me for my reservation. Had to rent from Avis for $260.00 for 1 day when my reservation with Economy was for $70.00
