Pros: Location was ideal. Within walking distance to all the night markets and night bazaar .
Cons: I booked two rooms for two days . Price was really steep and pricey. Reached hotel after check in timing and requested for both rooms to be at the same floor , however was told by the staff that both rooms will take another 30 mins to be ready , hence we waited. After 30 mins , only one room was ready , they told us to wait another 30 mins . Hence I requested for the keys for both rooms so that we don’t have to go down lobby again to collect key, but staff didn’t allow . Staff was not flexible at all . They did not spare a thought for the guest who waited so long for them to prepare the room . It was a really disappointing and disastrous experience, having hotel staff who are not flexible and did not Honor their words to give us a room . Definitely will not stay in this hotel again .

Pros: We absolutely loved our stay here. From our arrival to departure, it was one of the most memorable trips we have ever had. Firstly, the location... it is close to the airport and in the middle of town on the river so you literally feel all your worries and concerns be lifted and washed away as you enter the grounds. You can also literally walk to the night market. Dozens of spas walking distance but the spa on ground is so beautiful. Secondly the breakfast buffets is one of the best I have ever had. Thirdly, the staff are ALL so unbelievably kind which make sense as the manager we got to know as we ending up staying close to a week, Oliver, is one of my favorite I have ever met. I could go on and on about this place but you should definitely experience it for yourself. It is the nicest hotel in Chiang Mai. We have been before and feel confident saying this. We went to Kanjana Elephant sanctuary and Sticky Falls and visited temples and had the most amazing holiday. To come home to our Kansara suite was just divine. We had another regular room too and it was perfect as well. From your greeting drink to picking cedar wood soap and bath salts to the comfy slippers to the morning yoga. There were also daily activities for kids too as well as other things going on in the hotel we were unable to attend this visit. We will definitely come back and am officially now a fan of Anan Hotels. It is as luxurious if not more than Aman and right along side my favorite hotel Six Senses in Nin Vinh Valley. If you are coming to Chiang Mai please stay at one of favorite hotels in the world. It is heaven. xx

Pros: Anantara was a beautiful property with a fantastic staff. We were there for our honeymoon and they made our stay extra special upon arrival. The location is a bit outside of town, but not far - you can walk in 20 minutes, or take a tuk tuk and it's only about 5 minutes.

Pros: We loved the location and the facilities. The pool was clean and comfortable with a very friendly staff. The general hotel staff were also great. The concierge and the front door staff were wonderful. In particular, Nutt and Gong were fabulous. They helped us with rides and directions and engaged us in friendly conversations.

Pros: 1) The most important thing that made our Shangri-la stay wonderful is their attention of details to baby needs. I was impressed finding once entering the room that they have arranged, baby bottle steamer, baby bathing tab, shampoo and oil and of-course the baby cot. Everything was ready. Thank You ! 2) They make sure to keep your room clean at your convenient time. 3) Good Pool area for kids though we couldn't use it, the weather was cold for the kids to use the pool :( 4) Kids playground

The staff brings sunscreen, insect repellent, icy water, a few slices of melon and towels as soon as you get to the pool. The location is also decent and the hotel staff at the 2nd floor main entrance did an excellent job of getting us transportation and directing the drivers to the right places.

Pros: The hotel is located near food markets and the night market. Other than that, it is quite a distance from the old city where most of the sights are located. As for the breakfast spread, it has an excellent spread of food to choose from. The pool is great with a jacuzzi at the side as a separate pool. Service at the hotel is wonderful and as expected if you stay in a shangri-la hotel anywhere in the world. Highly recommended.

Cons: Upon check-in we were pushed to upgrade so we could have breakfast included. I've traveled all over Asia and haven't had to pay extra nonetheless made me feel like I was a peasant. The service was average. Tried to fill up the tub for my other half and there were pubic hairs floating around. The room was also cleaned better based on how much tip I left. I had great experiences at other Shangri-La hotels but this wasn't one of them.

Cons: The condo next door is being constructed, so we had to bear a constant construction noise at the pool side, but it is not the hotel's fault. The room is not as clean as I would like. The carpet is a bit old and is stained. The room air condition fan noise is loud even at the lowest fan speed setting. The most of the hotel staff did an excellent job of providing good service, but noticed the land of thousand smiles is no where to be found with a few staff.

Cons: The kids room. We stayed in the Singapore Shangri-la Hotel where the kids room had a big and wonderful play area. The kids room for Shangri-la Chiang Mai had only one slide and a few play items. It was a disappointment for my children who had hoped to see something similar to the Shangri-la hotel in Singapore.

Cons: Staff at front desk was very unfriendly. We did not have a good experience checking in. Different staff, including the duty manager, was trying to give us different room. But when we refused, they insisted and was very rude when we told them that we wanted our original reserved room.

Pros: My parents came to this hotel 30 years ago when they lived here before, but you wouldn’t be able to tell it’s age by how modern and nice it is now! The staff was awesome, when we arrived, they were doing a shift change which included a little dance in the middle of the lobby. The wonderful front desk person, Poot, was so helpful and was able to find us a room with a view and helped us book our taxi back to the airport and provided us breakfast boxes. The rooms were really big, and there were outlets everywhere so two people didn’t have to fight. The breakfast was included and had a lot of variety. We booked a tour with their tour desk and she was very helpful and we had a great time. It’s also right across the street from the night market and easily walkable anywhere you’d want to go! Overall a great stay and would highly recommend the Dusit D2 to anyone!

Cons: The shower was a bit funky. It was a huge step up to get into the shower. For some reason the shower is separated by the rest of the room by glass walls, making it viewable from any point in the room. Even more oddly, the privacy for the shower is a set of horizontal blinds located on the outside of the shower. Meaning, someone in the room can walk up and open the blinds and see you using the shower or bathroom. Not that this would happen, but I find that to be very odd, and I've never seen that in my entire life.

Our room had a huge comfortable bed, with tea and coffee facilities and fridge. The decor felt traditionally Thai, very beautiful. Breakfast was plentiful, great value for money. We wished we had time to stay longer as the pool looked great. We got a free airport transfer is a luxury mini van. The hotel is close to the old town, walking distance to restaurants and temples. Thank you Thannatee, you made our last night in Chiang Mai very enjoyable

Our two day hike was scheduled fast and perfectly with the front desk. We ended up needing a little more help with renting a car and, even after we already checked out, they helped us out with getting a good car and deal. I would definitely recommend this place!

Cons: The walls are extremely thin- too much noise at night from the waterfall. The rooms are too small - you work the AC, it gets stuffy as everything is old. With all the windows closed - you can still hear people use the bathroom at night; you open the windows for fresh air - the waterfall (we are not exaggerating) and street noise keep you up. We switched after one night even though we paid for two- we are happy we switched

Pros: I stayed here for 1 night 6 years ago. This time I came back for 3 nights, it's still very beautiful and comfortable. Spacious and clean room, vintage decorating and facilities, I felt like staying in hotel rather than going out. It's a paradise in old Chiang Mai city. Breakfast is abundant with good coffee. The WiFi is good but you have to login once every day. The airport transfer is available, pick-up from airport is 250b, transfer from hotel to airport is 200b, need to reserve beforehand.

Cons: We had taken a 'standard room'. I cannot compare really, but I saw that most rooms had a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the sparse sun. Our room had a very small terrace that overlooked roofs only - and not the nicest ones. The room was quite cold (but the weather was cold too), and the lights were poor. Internet connection was a problem: I had to reconnect at least 4 times a day.

Cons: My main issue was a noise i heard at night below my room. Grantedly it was not very loud but it was repetitive machine generared noise that distracted me from sleep. Cons: They overbooked and when arrived at 1030pm tired from our flight they sent us in a car to another hotel. It would have been forgivable had it been another 4 star or better but it wasn't. It was a dirty 3 star at best. After traveling for weeks I had been looking forward to two nights in one spot. It was a hassle to have to repack and get the car back to the Amora in the morning. They offered no refund, they claimed to have upgraded us for our second and final night but the only difference was a higher level floor. Hardly an upgrade. The management staff had no service skills. They were very unreceptive to complaints.

Cons: The connecting door between rooms which made us hear every word and sentences in our neighbour. We woke up at 2 am because they arrived and unfortunetly turned on TV till 4 am, we felt were staying with them in a same room. Unbelivable!!! Another important problem is old noisy AC., could imagine that you are on the plane and seated close to engin.

Cons: I didn't realize how gigantic this hotel was until I got there. Massive interior and pool and attached multi-level mall. Hotel is pretty old but still a good one. Lotus had a great Christmas dinner and we enjoyed the buffet.

Cons: It was my second time staying here but I wouldn't stay again. It's a 4* hotel, cost a fair amount of money for a night but they don't do tea and coffee in the room. I also couldn't charge my phone overnight, it worked with a different adaptor but my adaptor works everywhere else so for a 4* hotel I'd think it should work. Staff aren't very helpful with any issues.
