At the rental, I informed the rental agent that I may be returning the car early. She told me that was not a problem. On the door was a sign referring to placement of the keys in a dropbox. I attempted to return the car early, but before the office opened at 8 a.m. There was no dropbox as advertised. After much calling multiple numbers within Hertz, I was informed by roadside assistance (who knew that was what I needed to call) to drop the car off at the airport. I was also informed that they would charge me the "intercity fee". I was indeed charged the intercity fee. I am in a dispute with Hertz over that charge.

The whole process was professional and easy. I really enjoyed the car I received and it was an excellent price. The vehicle was clean and well cared for. The Hertz office is also quote nice for a rental car company, and the attendant was friendly and communicated well. Overall. A great experience.

At San Diego Airport we were told we could not pick up or return the rental car there because we reserved through 3rd party such as Kayak. They wanted us to uber to a location 20 minutes from airport.. Had to scrap the reservation and book direct with Hertz. Not booking through kayak again

The staff was generally friendly, but acted somewhat suspicious... The staff mentioned NO SMOKING in the car etc. After receiving the car and driving away, within the next few minutes while inside the closed cabin with A/C "on" I realized that the car had embedded cigarette-smoke smell into seats/carpets. It was too late for me to return and complain about it. We had to endure the choking irritation for next 24 hours and that was not pleasant. Finally, I was asked whether I wanted to receive electronic (email) or printed receipt. I opted for BOTH. That email never came to my inbox.

Total bait and switch on renting a car. Showed it was at San Diego (when I searched for the SD airport), but when I got there they said..."sorry, that was purchased at a different Hertz location and they are already closed for the day." That was at NOON on Saturday!! The gal at the Hertz location at the airport said that if I call Hertz directly, they should be able to move the pickup to the airport location, but after a 20 minute conversation with them, they just pushed a new sale on me that was 2 1/2 times higher than what I was quoted. I was forced to take the deal because I had no other options. I'm fighting the bill through my credit card company, but I definitely won't be using them again!!!

Picked up our rental at the San Diego CA Airport to travel to Maryland. Upon checking the car out for damage with the Hertz rental agent, he noticed 🐜 ants on the front outside car head lamp. He pointed it out or what I remember him saying I see ants. I thought nothing about it and I certainly didn't say anything, only because it was outside, I saw only maybe two or three crawling, again this was outside of the car. We stated our long travels to the state of Maryland, three thousand mile journey home. After traveling maybe eight hours, I looked to the back seat and there were thousands and I mean thousands of ants crawling all over the rear back seat. There were so many ants you could not even see the color of the seat. I immediately pulled to the shoulder if the busy highway and started grabbing handfuls if ants trying to get these ants out if the car. I again immediately trying calling Hertz rental agent and left several messages. In the meantime I stopped at a store and got ant spray and started spraying the inside of the car. Remind you that cars / rental cars are at a premium and for a three day rental I paid over one thousand dollars to rent this car. After about three more hours after placing my call to Hertz I received a call back. The manager said all he could do was refund one hundred dollars to the rental amount.. Upon stopping for the might of the three day travels I sprayed ants spray in the car nightly and still on occasions had ants crawling up my leg while driving. I feel Hertz owes me a refund for my troubles and in convenience of my time.
