Pros: Ancient old pub expanded over the generations and boasting a new apartment block for accommodation. Very busy on a Saturday night - caters for up to 70 in a series of dining rooms but room found for us quickly . Staff were caring and efficient , food was good especially the breakfasts included in the price.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Well appointed country pub.
7,1 Good
Pros: The room was spacious , comfortable and immaculate. Nice pub and good food.
Cons: Our room was on the upper floor and on the wing adjacent the pub. We had to carry our cases up a not easy stairs (no lift/elevator).There was no A/C so we had windows open. At 6:00 AM on August Bank Holiday Monday, we were rudely awakened by the arrival and loading of their refuse collection vehicle. We were also unhappy to discover that the location, despite the Witney post code, was a long way outside the town, surrounded by corn fields - nowhere outside the property to enjoy a walk or explore the locality.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The service in general
Cons: Signal was very poor. Internet very poor
10,0 Excellent

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were generously big, the restaurant was packed but the service was good as were the meals themselves and the breakfast , included in the price, was too big to finish. Overall, it was a great experience out in the country
Cons: Room was a little too hot but opening the windows cured that

Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Highway Inn in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Good location right in the centre of Burford, nice breakfast. Lots of options available and generally friendly staff. Not much else unfortunately.
Cons: I am not sure how I make a complaint, however I'd like to register one. I'd taken my partner away for her birthday (a treat to take her shopping in Bicester with a nice overnight stay) and this was supposed to be a romantic get away for the weekend. Unfortunately, on arrival, the person checking in, whilst friendly, stated that we should "take care as the shower might not work, hopefully it will". I didn't take much notice of it, however come Sunday morning, we tried to make it work and the only thing that came out was at best cold to luke warm water. The temperate control would not turn. Further more, in our room there is clearly a drainage issue as after running the water for about 30 seconds, the bowl of the shower is full of water and takes 15-20 mins to drain away. I therefore had to go down in my pjs to reception to get help, and whilst the waitress did everything she could, she could not get it fixed (she isn't a plumber afterall). I therefore had a very disgruntled partner who could not use the shower and instead of this being a lovely weekend away, it turned into a bit of a disaster as she couldn't shower (you can't wash hair in cold water) and it really put a slant on the weekend. Please can I understand why a room costing £120 has a facility like this and I'd like this complaint to be registered with the owner of the hotel with an explanation please. Afterall, I could stayed in the Premier Inn at the top of road for £20 cheaper, but we chose your place because it had a bit of character and charm about it. However, the facilities were poor, and worse still, it's clear to me that every member of staff knew that this room has issues with the shower as multiple frontline staff stated so. How can the owners sell a room for £120 knowing that this is an issue. It's not acceptable. I've got photos if you want to see them.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Manager went out of his way to serve us an EARLY breakfast!!
Cons: Our stay was too short!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Exactly what we were looking for from a Costwolds inn - beautiful cosy place, great location, delicious breakfast and very helpful and kind staff. Had a wonderful stay
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and the staff really helpful and engaging.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Fresh products and well presented. Staff were charming, and especially helpful with gluten free dishes. Comfortable stay and very well situated.
Cons: The shower was barely a trickle but in such an old building that can be expected!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly (Scott, Hilary, Kaz, Kirsten and Alice) and made us and our Westie puppy very welcome from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice on the menu and everything being freshly cooked to order. We ate in the bar every evening during our stay and that too was excellent. There is a lovely courtyard where we sat and enjoyed a drink in the evening sunshine before dinner which was an added bonus. We will definitely return to The Highway Inn.
Cons: Can't think of anything we disliked.
6,3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was all right. The staff were very nice with our dog. The inn is located right in the main street, but there are problems.
Cons: The sound of the traffic going past constanly day and night was horrendous, going on all through the night, we had a front bedroom. With having no carpark we had to leave our car away from the Highway Inn.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Rooms had so much character and big comfy beds. Staff so personal and great location.
Cons: The shower was very hard to adjust to the right temperature.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room we had was dog friendly and very spacious. Love this hotel.
Cons: There is very little not to like. As a dog owner an area to walk the dogs would be nice but it was easy enough to go out and walk in the local area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room very clean and comfortable . Lovely staff . Great location to see town
Cons: Nothing

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Bay Tree is in a great location with excellent accommodation. The evening meal was fabulous.
Cons: I have a limited diet as I don’t eat gluten or dairy. I asked for either poached or fried egg but was given scrambled which had cream in it. Instead I had berries which were delicious.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked that we were upgraded
Cons: Tenfield Curtains on the runner Be able to shut window, as it was on pavement. Valance on bed, could have been changed. Room needs refreshing Te
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The buffet breakfast was fairly well presented with an assortment of high quality foods. The room was comfortable and well provided for our requirements. The location was excellent and the car parking facility o.k. if a little squashed. The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The cooked full english breakfast was served ready plated. There was no option offered to limit or increase the individual amounts on the plate eg: 1 or 2 eggs, extra bacon rasher etc. I have had much better full english cooked breakfasts. I realise that customers do like silver service when dining, but I think self service breakfast should be an option. To have it served when all other items on the breakfast menu are from a buffet, gives the impression that the cooked breakfast ingredients form a very limited item.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!! The room was perfect and immaculately clean, the check in was easy and quick, the service from all the staff was amazing
Cons: The only slightly negative thing I can think of is that we had no idea where to park, the street parking was full and there were no signs for a carpark
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Water pressure poor in room (Shilton)
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices & very friendly and prompt service. Quality of food was excellent
Cons: The only improvement that could be made was possible the introduction of a fridge in the Oak Suite (plenty of space for one) and fresh milk could be stored in it for tea & coffee.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic room
Cons: More choice in restaurant menu
8,3 Excellent
Cons: the menu in bar and restaurant

Pros: Was picture perfect
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I fell on my feet, this was the perfect country inn with food to match. Beautiful Cotswold stone building, tasteful country-style furnishing and a blissfully comfortable bed. I had venison and beetroot pie and pineapple tarte tatin for dinner, both were absolutely delicious, the best meal I've had for a long time and at a reasonable cost. Lovely cooked breakfast and I have never tasted such delicious toast and butter, both locally produced.
Cons: Only tiny niggle - very dim lighting in the bedroom made it difficult to read, and the washbasin taps needed new washers as they were difficult to turn off which meant they dripped.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent short break staff were excellent, food very good hot tasty even at very busy times nothing was a problem. Our stable room clean, beautiful toiletries,c comfy bed and warm xx many thanks to everyone
Cons: When we had to leave after a very good breakfast.

7,0 Good
Pros: Relaxing atmosphere and style was a mix of a good hotel and an excellent inn.Staff at all levels friendly/professional/efficient/attentive and welcoming.Meals in bars/lounge were off a high standard. Room large and easily accessed for handicapped guests/
Cons: 4 Log fires great, but all needed to have their chimneys swept! Normal wood fire aroma spoilt by visible smoke that attached to clothes/hair. This was one of several weaknesses that indicated lack of maintenance/checks by local or Cotswold Inns and Hotel management. Gratuity added to restaurant bill without previous advice and bathroom had no bath only a shower -this was a superior room but it had the smallest bathroom that could be designed. Limited clothes hanging space(coat hooks behind doors would have helped)
7,7 Good
Pros: Relaxing

9,4 Excellent
Pros: The room, the quiet, the comfortable bed, the excellent breakfast (even though I only ate it once), the accommodating staff (thank you for my early morning latte on the patio).
Cons: Turning off the patio lights around 11 p.m. (midnight?)..... I couldn't have my late night read outside.... a small thing, but important for me. It would have been good to have a facecloth included with the room's linens.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Staff very welcoming and nothing too much trouble.
7,9 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful and did their best to help and make us comfortable.
Cons: The carpets were very dirty and the whole hotel was in need of refurbishment. The exception was the dining room which was clean and modern. However the restaurant was closed for the three nights we stayed which was a big disappointment so we never got to eat there except for breakfast which was good. We were also annoyed to be emailed to inform us that we should book a table as the restaurant is very popular. The next sentence told us that the restaurant is closed Monday to Wednesday every week. Those were the three nights of our visit.
7,5 Good
Pros: Breakfast excellent room fabulous
Cons: Carpets in main building a bit dirty and worn
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Enjoyed my stay the room was nice with a comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly.
6,5 Good
Pros: All the staff were, without exception, very friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom were very clean, bedding was changed and clean towels provided as we would expect. Daily replenishment of refreshments and toiletries was excellent.
Cons: The breakfast was extremely disappointing. The service, although friendly, was shambolic, lots of walking around with little effectiveness, long delays getting our ordered coffee, toast and orange juice. Long delay to order hot breakfast which when it arrived was below standard. The buffet table was not checked during breakfast resulting in no availability of pastries, bread rolls. A large selection of jams but nothing to eat them with! The hotel was receptive to my feedback on booking out but not everything could be attributed to the reason they gave, ie training a new breakfast chef.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Very friendly staff. Large comfortable bed
Cons: We had a courtroom which was adequate but could do with an update. The whole hotel was nice but a bit tired looking . Had to wait far too long for service at breakfast, but the waitress seemed run off her feet. She was very apologetic and very nice

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Good atmosphere. Brilliant pizzas. Good service in restaurant.
Cons: We made a late booking and unfortunately got a room for disabled guests. By its nature it is a bit bare, but it could be less 'utility' looking. No car park.

7,1 Good
Pros: Nice very staff.
Cons: Small room and small bed for the room rate. Drinks and food very overpriced.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel, the food and the staff were wonderfull. It was my our honeymoon and it was every thing I hoped it would be. The staff were very friendly and made us feel special.
Cons: Acouple more beers would have been good. There was no Bitters and the food was a little overpriced but very good.
6,7 Good
Pros: The lovely village location and splendid grounds, the roaring fires and tasteful country house feel.
Cons: The restaurant was a little disorganised. Four people took our orders and served us and the co-ordination was lacking and the service was therefore slow. Why not allocate given tables to specific waiting staff?
5,3 Okay
Pros: The hotel grounds and local area
Cons: The fact they have a two tier system where guests staying at the Old Swan get dining reservation preferences and their own roped off lounge area that the Minster guests cannot use
4,3 Okay
Pros: Character hotel.
Cons: Standard room very small, we stayed in the barn conversion annexe, room was very small with single glazed window which was very noisy. It felt as if we were staying in a beach hut. There was a noise in the pipes which kept us awake most of the night. Also we had to travel to a nearby pub as the restaurant(which is another pub a minute) away was full, priority to guests with bb and e meal.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first room was extremely hot, we spoke to reception who offered us another room without hesitation. The restaurant is excellent both for breakfast & dinner. After eating there the first night we definitely wanted to on our second night but forgot to book. So after a day out and about came back to hear it was fully booked being Saturday. However the staff were brilliant and said they would manage to squeeze us in and we weren't disappointed, the steak was perfect along with everything else! Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and setting. Will definitely go back.
4,0 Okay
Pros: I liked the helpful staff in the restaurant who worked extremely hard on the sturday evening of our stay.
Cons: I stayed in room 121 which was awful and i have complained personally to Diane Cornish the sales manager and i have yet to have the courtesy of a reply to my comments.
3,2 Mediocre
Pros: Setting and location excellent. Public rooms nice
Cons: Scandinavian type rooms (118) were very very small. Little wardrobe and storage space. Walls were paper thin. We could hear neighbours even when they were whispering and using bathroom! Flight path from nearby RAF base. No double galzing. It was clear the accommodation was geared to single people on conferences/workshops. Massive disappointmant!

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location Staff and service

8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was very convenient for my stay
Cons: I am a fresh air fan and unfortunately in my room I did not have a window I could open as it was just 2 doors back and front of the room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at inn for all seasons. From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed it so much we booked an extra night, making it 3 in total. The breakfast was very nice and we had one dinner here which was fantastic, regretted not having it again but thought we should try other places in the area. Had a night cap in the bar each night though and a chat with one of the owners who gave us great tips on places to visit in the area. Would definitely recommend staying here.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, comfortable, convenient for car park.
Cons: As the restaurant cooks everything fresh, although we had a 7:30pm table, it was gone 9pm before mains were served. Would have preferred floor mats in bedroom and bathroom rather than having to walk on cold floor - as wet weather, had left shoes at door. Heating not controllable in the room.

Pros: The food was amazing, both the breakfast and the lunch we had the day we checked in. The owners, John and Debbie, were welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. With it being 500(?)-year-old inn, the building has a weird layout and this gave the en-suite room a charming character that makes a change from the sterile, modern hotel rooms. The room was spacious and had everything we could need, including a bath. I would definitely recommend the Inn For All Seasons if you need to stay somewhere in the area or if you need to stop somewhere for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Cons: The inn is located 2 miles away from the Stone Barn venue where we were attending a wedding. The inn is perfectly located for the venue but due to its location the nearest taxi companies are based Carterton 5-6 miles away. This means the taxi fares are very high (it cost us £60 for a return trip to Stone Barn) so take this into account when arranging your trip. We also advise booking well in advance because the taxi firms all seem to be small with only a few cars at most so they get booked up quickly. Obviously the Inn For All Seasons aren’t to blame for this and it isn’t a problem if you have a car. Our return home was much less costly as there is an infrequent bus service between Oxford and Cheltenham that runs down the A40 and stops outside of the inn. Our only other complaint (apart from the garish carpet on the stairs and landing) was that the mattress was a bit lumpy so we had a bit of trouble getting to sleep initially.

Pros: Food excellent for poster very comfortable
Cons: Coffee and wine quite expensive

7,5 Good
Pros: We have stayed here a few times, it is a bit tired in places but clean and still nice
Cons: Minor things like light bulbs out and the WiFi is poor it has lost a little of its quaintness by some of the decor which doesn’t fit in with the country theme but I guess that’s just my opinion
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Best value for money ever. Great sized bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bed and all the home comforts. Lots of character. Superb breakfast. Really helpful staff. Will definitely return.
Cons: Nothing!
6,7 Good
Pros: The decor, structure of the building & the bedroom size.
Cons: Not opening windows or air con so was very stuffy in hot weather and when having a bath or drying hair... not ideal... the staff which was only a blonde young girl to be seen, had to be called out the back to greet us which she had no customer service skills.. when checking out I had to call for assistance again, no manners or conversation attempt made..

Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Room.was too warm n traffic noise was unbearable throughout the night.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room and en-suite in characterful historic building. Breakfast was delicious. Could not have dinner at the hotel as it closes its doors after 7pm but we were recommended to The Angel just round the corner where we had a lovely meal. The hotel is situated right in the heart of this beautiful town and everything is on your doorstep.
Cons: Parking nearby is an issue and traffic noise is quite disturbing at night as we were on the busy main road. Nothing that the hotel can do about either of these issues, but just need to be aware.

Pros: Comfortable room, very helpful staff and good pub/restaurant. Excellent breakfast. The hotel is near a main road but this didn't prove to be a problem since there was little traffic from early evening onwards. Would stay again if we were in the area.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very quaint and the meals were fantastic. I thought the accommodation price with breakfast included was very good value for money.
Cons: Very disappointed with the shower. The water just trickled out. No pressure at all and by the evening the water was luke warm. I didn’t even bother washing my hair because it would have been too hard to rinse out the shampoo.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Although room was a little small, it was plenty for the two of us. Bed was extremely comfortable & the room had everything you would need. Very relaxing & cheerful atmosphere. All staff brilliant, especially the two assistant managers( whom I believe to be partners)!! Parking was very easy & within walking distance of the main part of Burford.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: On a busy street
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed for one night but it was great to get there and park at the hotel, book in dump our bags in the room and have a couple of drinks in the bar. We had a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket in our room, we chose to eat in the bar, we could have eaten in the restaurant, the food was gorgeous and the staff very friendly. it really is a beautiful old hotel a good breakfast in the morning. I probably would not have chosen the four poster room if another had been available, just because of the extra expense but on the other hand we do like a room within the hotel rather than in the courtyard of a hotel
Cons: nothing to fault
6,7 Good
Pros: Excellent food and very convenient location
Cons: The fire alarn at 2.45am with no guidance or advice from the staff as to the problem

Pros: The location was lovely the property was nice very traditional. The room was adequate for our needs and a good base. Not the cleanest but fine

Pros: the staff were really friendly, the food was good but a little over priced for what it was, the room was good, clean and above average for the price.

Pros: The breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Michelle the bar lady was really good and seemed to manage totally alone, serving drinks and taking food orders.
Cons: The evening meals were not as good as we would have liked. My granddaughter had lasagne - with no pasta sheets. The stroganoff was tough. This was on the Friday night. The Saturday meals were a lot better. The rooms were comfortable but the rest of the building definitely in need of some money spending on it. The passage from the bar to the toilets was in very poor repair.

Pros: Good parking and close to Burford town. Good breakfast which was included.
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was first class and the location was satisfactory for a visitor to the Cotswolds
Cons: No lift available and rather steep stairs
5,8 Okay
Pros: Lovely little terrace over looking the golf course
Cons: On a very busy A road. Bar closed at 9pm. Seemed that only one member of staff spoke English. The place could be beautiful but really needed done TLC.
7,9 Good
Pros: Friendly welcoming proprietor. Excellent breakfast. Convenient location midway between Burford town and Burford Garden Company, which were the places we had come to visit
Cons: Located on a very busy road. Secondary glazing has been installed to reduce road noise, but this made our rather small room quite stuffy.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, and the lodge itself was absolutely spotless. Of the three staff we met only one spoke English, but that didn't make any difference to our stay whatsoever. The owner was very knowledgeable about the area, and gave us plenty of ideas of places to visit during our stay.
Cons: The room was very clean, but needs to be updated, and considering the bad weather when we were there, maybe the heating could have been on more often. Also the bathroom extractor fan didn't work, and grouting needed more of a clean.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent
Cons: Small bedroom but nice
3,5 Mediocre
Pros: The location
Cons: The property was extremely dated on the inside. The carpets were circa 1970s and the room had scuffed up furniture and old oriental decor. The reception area smelled really bad, like old mop water. We were not allowed access to our room until 2:30 on the dot so don’t bother trying to check in a few minutes early. They made us pay for all 4 nights as soon as we walked in the door - we suspect this is because once you saw the state of the inside you wouldn’t want to stay there. Considering we were paying $120 per night we were expecting Cotswolds charm, not 1970s dilapidation.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was spotless. Staff was wonderful.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location for touring The Cotswolds Friendly staff Very clean
Cons: Room was quite small and could have done with another chair to sit on Awkward to watch TV due to shape of the room

9,6 Excellent
Pros: We were walking the Thames Path and so this venue was perfectly situated for that. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the meal we had in the restaurant in the evening was wonderful. We were swayed by the picture on the front of the menu to have the 'ploughmans' and we both loved it! It went down well with a pint (or two) of very good real ale. Breakfast the next day was very good, and the pub were also kind enough to make us up a packed lunch for our next day's walking. All in all an excellent stay!
Cons: We really loved this venue and the only thing that could have made it better for us, who were walking the Thames Path, was a bath to soak our feet at the end of a long day's walking: the room was shower only.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Tad expensive to be honest, we were walking the Thames path, it was the most expensive room up to now , with no reason to be::::the breakfast was also not up to standers of the other places we had stayed
10,0 Excellent
Pros: WOW, we spent two nights at this wonderful Hotel which is set on the banks of the River Thames in a rural setting. There is extensive parking within its grounds so no worries at all about the car.
The staff were so friendly, professional and extremely polite, they really could not do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was included in the price, brilliant! You had a great variety and there was plenty of it and very tasty. We also had evening meals, all meals were delicious and cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced. The wine was first class and accompanied the meal very well indeed.
The double room itself was excellent, clean and very comfortable. The en-suite had a lovely double shower and the shower and soap products were excellent. We also had a river view which was the icing on top of the cake. Overall experience 10/10.
A fantastic time had by my wife and I.
A very big thank you to Meletta who was just so friendly, bubbly and full of energy and made us feel very comfortable, Steve behind the bar again was very friendly, had a great character and made us laugh. We would like to thank you all for making our stay here so perfect. So perfect in fact that we will definitely be coming again!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

Pros: This pub is excellently located on the River Thames. Perfect for us walking the Thames Path. Lovely pub, great staff, amazing food and comfortable rooms and awesome shower. Thanks Adam and team for making it such a great stopover for us. The food was amazing and really appreciated the packed hot breakfast to eat later on the trail.

Pros: Location next to river & nearby ancient bridge
Cons: Breakfast was poor, tea coffee were help yourself & not hot enough. Cooked breakfast undercooked mushrooms uncooked tomato sausage poor quality. Room very noisy as overlooked bridge with traffic lights
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were the very epitome of helpfulness and obviously loved working there.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Good overnight stop on Thames Path. Comfortable room, plenty of choice on menus including vegetarian options.
Cons: Our room faced the road, so there was a fair bit of noise from traffic crossing the bridge through the night. Light sleepers should request a room away from the road if possible.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing and such a lovely location.
Cons: Location and staff
