Worst Rental Car ExperienceCons:So many problems with this rental it's hard to know where to start. First, having no directions or any idea of where this place was (not located at airport but at a Marriott a mile away). Then we booked for a 6:00am drop off through kayak but upon picking up the car were notified that they do not open till 7 which is when our flight left. The desk agent said that the airport doesn't take long to get through so if we could switch to 6:30am they would come in early. Once we were given our car we were told "the seat is kinda broken and doesn't recline at all" which meant we had to drive completely upright. It might not seem like a big deal but gets uncomfortable very fast, especially for someone taller (I'm 6'2"). When we came back to drop the car off we got there at 6:15am and waited till 6:35am. No one showed up. We finally asked Marriot to give us a ride, which they kindly did. We got to the airport rushed through security and missed our flight. The attendant said the information we were given was wrong and would have had to be at the gate at 6:30am at the absolute latest. We then had to catch the next flight 9 hours later. When I called Ace asking if we could come back and use the car for a few more hours they said no but we could pay for a new rental. I explained how this situation happened and they said they were there that morning at 6:15am which was completely false. I asked for a refund and got nothing. Pros:Typically it is the lowest. For a reason. Even then I would not recommend renting from here.Cons:The staff is untrained, unprofessional and many give you the attitude that they will probably steal your information. The prove of having insurance. In mist car rental agencies you just tell them the name is the insurance here you have to have a policy # and fill it out. Or they fir e you to buy insurance! Wtf!!! I’m getting the impression they are hiring the bottom feeders of tre employees with fishy background. All care more in their cell phone than try to help you to rent and leave the facility. I had a reservation d as Nd had to rebook at the car agency nearby. What a completely ware of time.Reviewed Jan 7 2020

Pros:The car was clean and comfortable.Cons:The service could not have been worse. We waited over an hour before we had someone finally pick up the phone and send an airport van. On our return flight, we turned our car in at the appointed 4:00 time to find a note on the desk that said “please place the keys in the Dropbox. We had expected to get a ride to the airport, but that was not to be. We walked 20 minutes or so to the airport and barely made our flight. Pros:Nothing. Very unprofessional.Cons:Sat and waited for an hour at the airport and the shuttle never showed up. Called 3 times, never answered. Took a $10 Uber to the office, and two young unprofessional girls were there. “I was at lunch”. After we took the car and got to the hotel, they call us and told us they left keys in our car so they came and met us and switched us cars. What a joke. The replacement car was a crappy, smoke smelling Kia Soul, nothing like the commercial with the hamsters. I had never seen a rental car in such bad condition.Reviewed Feb 8 2020

Bait and SwitchPros:Returning the car was smooth and fast. The staff were friendly and professional.Cons:I arrived late to pick up my rental and the car I had reserved had been given away. I called the rental car company exactly 1 hour after the pick up time I had put into my reservation. The car had been given away already and all that was left was a mini-van. Then I was forced to drive something much bigger that had much worse gas mileage. I spent double on gas than I would have had I been given the car that I reserved. When I asked why they gave the car away they said they usually have a 1 hour grace period...but I called at 1 hour and they had already given the car away. I will not reserve with this company again without knowing that they can give the car you reserved away if they feel like it.Reviewed Oct 25 2015

Filthy CarPros:Very small operation in Long Beach; the girls picked us up at the airport with the shuttle, then worked behind the desk to rent and take back the car. Both were very nice.Cons:The interior of the car was the dirtiest I have ever seen in a rental car. The girl at the desk at pickup mentioned that the person who cleaned the cars was not there, or only worked several times per week. When we checked into our hotel, I borrowed towels and a bottle of spray cleaner from the maid to clean the heavily stained seats, crumbs and dirt in the cup holders of our Ace Rental Car. The towels were black after I rubbed down the seats, probably our clothes too. Tried to use the windshield washer while driving on the highway, which was empty. The windshield wipers pushed dirt back and forth on the windshield without the aid of liquid. Be careful to document every scratch when you pick up the car. Most car rentals agencies say they are not concerned about scratches under a couple of inches, where Ace seemed to go over every scratch, which made me nervous as they held a $200 deposit before releasing the car. Funny, they didn’t care that the interior was disgusting and when I told the girl at the return that I had to clean the interior, she told me; “That’s alright”.Reviewed Feb 26 2018
