Pros: Our crew on the trip from DC to London was excellent- friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed the whole experience.
Cons: The short trip from London to Vienna felt overcrowded with people lugging heavy suitcases on board. Also the fact that you have to purchase even water was a surprise because we were not aware of such a severe policy by BA. Plus our American credit cards were not accepted by the on board cc machine so we spent 2 hour flight without any refreshments
Pros: I was placed in a very nice hotel for the night. Emirates staff very helpful in helping me get on another flight.
Cons: When I arrived at the airport the next morning on January 1st 2017 to get on another flight, the lady at the OR Tambo Air Namibia ticketing office (her name is Happy) gave me a very hard time. She told me that the staff from the night before should not have put me in a hotel, and that she could not give me another flight. Her reason was that I had booked the flight through a travel agency website and so it was not Air Namibia's responsibility to get me on another flight. When I tried to explain to her why it was she started to yell at me. "Don't tell me how to do my job", she said. As I started to explain again that I paid for the flight and that Air Namibia surely received compensation and would not be out any money by placing me on another flight she told me to "stop arguing" with her. I took my claim to the Emirates counter, very upset from a fight I did not need to have and lack of sleep the past two days of traveling. The Emirates staff called Happy over to explain to her why she should get me on a flight. Happy finally agreed, but by this time the flight was about to leave and I almost missed it. Because of her delay, I had to run through the airport, and my bag did not make it on. When I finally received my luggage a week later, it was broken and torn with the contents spilling out. If Happy had better customer service skills and had helped me instead of giving me a hard time, I would not have had the horrible day that I did and resultant destroyed luggage. In my opinion, she should be fired, and I strongly advise Emirates not to connect flights with this airline (who apparently makes these types of cancellations every year). Cons: Plane is old and systems worn out. Seats uncomfortable, little leg room, no premium economy and entertainment system didn't work. I have flown nearly 2 million miles and this has to be one of the worst planes I have been on.
Pros: The crew was useless. They spent the duration of the flight gossiping among themselves in the galley. In fact one was close to believing they were the Springboks because they spent the whole time in a rugby scrum in the back galley. One had to constantly ring for them to get their attention.
Cons: In addition, a male FA was so animated in conversation that his homophobic rant (not directly at anyone in particular) was particularly disturbing. Prior to check in, the heavily overweight female FA's brought on board absolutely humongous bags which they placed in the back luggage bins hogging at
Pros: I got back to London ahead of schedule, which was nice
Cons: The whole business of charging for drinks and mediocre food in economy, while they tout that business will get a full meal. BA is NOT Ryanair, or is it?
