the pilot seemed drunk or like a beginner - was swerving and veering the plane around sharp corners while taxiing for takeoff… then he seemed to throttle and slow down back and forth dramatically while flying. awful landing … seemed drunk or like he had just learned to fly and they lost my luggage
We were asked to check our carry on bags in Hartford as the plane was full so we did to be accommodating. One of our bags was not put on out flight from Chicago to Seattle. We had to go purchase clothing for my wife at our own expense. They called this am to say the bag was in but couldn't deliver it until tomorrow. Then they called van to say that they couldn't fulfill their obligation due to Labor Day. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Spread the word. Now I have to take time out of my vacation to drive 90 miles back to get the bag with no compensation. Unacceptable.
The boarding experience at Newark was total chaos. United had three different flights boarding at the same time in very close proximity. The gate agent was rude and not welcoming. The flight didn’t leave for an hour after all were boarded. There wasn’t enough room for passenger bags due to the number of people who brought on very large suitcases. It was a full flight and just really not comfortable.
The employees were calm and pleasant.
The flight itself needed some work. Lights came one and off with no consistency. Leg space is nonexistent (I'm 6'7"). Crew was sluggish to do anything.

Pros: "Rude gate staff. They were being very condescending in their tone while saying perhaps appropriate information. This occurred starting when one woman got in line. The sign kept changing...her accharine like tone telling her that boarding would begin at 1130 was unnecessary. Communicating with foreign passengers whose flight had been rebooked to this flight was very poor. Instead of asking them for the name of their baby, the gate employee kept asking them for the lap child name! This occurred over and over until finally they asked for the bany's name. The lady who is from Chicago started practically wagging her finger and just saying NO! to bags that might be too large. How she did this was overly rude even when the bag fit in the metal sizer!"

Pros: "Overall flight was good but since previous flight was late and I had only one hour to get my luggage, go through customs, check back in and make the flight it was too stressful because nobody could help much. Also, the bag did not make my flight because person was not really in the hurry to get my luggage to the plane."

Pros: "The bar is pretty low with United. Even being a 1K member, I am usually just hoping the flight arrives on time. This time it didn't. The crew was polite, which isn't always the case."
Cons: "The flight was delayed. Not necessarily UA's fault but they don't make it easy on their customers. Their mileage program has so many elite members, especially in SF that even 1K doesn't give you a strong shot at getting upgraded."

And I have Nexus. So Customs was 3 minutes. NOT a good process. Figure it out YYC international terminal!!!"

When we got to the boarding gate and we were ready to have our ticket scanned we were told, "unfortunately, you two won't be able to be seated together, we had a seat change that affected your seating." then we were asked to go to the counter at the gate to see what could be done, but there was nothing that could be done, the flight was full. So our money was collected but due to the mess up on seating and loss of our $600.00 epi pen medication we didn't take the flight."
Pros: "Flight was stuck on the ground for 2 hrs because of a generator issue, so I missed my connection. The United app nicely pre-booked me on the next flight to my destination without my having to do anything, which was cool. Internet didn't work but they refunded my purchase."
Cons: "The legroom is so much worse than jetBlue (which I usually fly) I almost couldn't believe it. Because of the generator issue the flight ended up being almost 9 hours. They ran out of ALL FOOD for purchase except chips (which they didn't even offer for free despite everything), so those of us in the back of the aircraft had our choice of a bag of chips for $4, or no food for 9 hours. Also, I paid $20 for the internet for the entire flight but it only worked for the first hour so I couldn't do any work."
