Wellington hotels near Wellington Cable Car

Pros: The location of the hotel was very nice ans the staff was beyond warm and welcoming!

Pros: The location is great, with access to harbour facilities. The hotel itself is well appointed and comfortable. With one minor correction, service was excellent. And on the minor point, the hotel went to great lengths to resolve the issue.

Cons: Stayed 3 nights and housekeeping.. particularly bathroom needed attention.( pieces of soap on shower floor after 1st day).

Pros: My friend and I spent 3 nights at the Apollo Lodge and we were very pleased with our stay. Staff was pleasant, I believe it was a husband and wife team running the place. The location could not have been better, a 5 minute walk from the downtown area for food and drinks but on a quiet street. Then again, my bed was right by the window so I was woken up a few times by loud people walking by the street. We were in an A-Frame room, which looks like they all border the street. So noise could be an issue in this room type vs. the others.

Cons: Our room also looked different from the online pictures which were of the upstairs rooms. I addressed this with the staff and they said they could not control which pictures were shown. A bit disappointing, but the room was the same layout nonetheless. The beds were not the most comfortable beds but they did just fine.

Pros: The location was great and enough bedding for a larger family than your regular 2 adult, 2 kid scenario.

Cons: We interacted with 2 staff members from the front desk. One was incredibly helpful and kind. The other was rude and acted as though we were just 'stupid tourists' despite the fact that I would imagine a lot of their business is from tourism. When we valet parked our car, they required that we go down to get our luggage from the vehicle and then had to walk back up the ramp against traffic - very odd considering we paid $34 for one night of parking. Then, seeing how we are not from NZ, and discussed our travels, we were not aware that we had to put our card into this slot near the door to engage any power. This was not obvious to us, and it is not customary in hotels in the US. When we called down to ask if they had an idea why our AC wasn't working, the woman (who also worked with us at the front desk) was clearly irritated with us and acted as though we were idiots. While this seems like a small collection of interactions, it left a very poor taste in my mouth in regards to my stay at Novotel Wellington.

Cons: Lacks any facilities, no pool, not even a laundry to do some washing. Sent down the road to their sister hotel the Ibis with bags of washing was not something I was going to bother doing.

Pros: Service was fantastic. My son was sick on the bed sheets at night and a staff member came straight up with new sheets and made sure to take the soiled ones away with him. He was very kind and considerate.

Cons: Bed was harder than the last time we stayed there. I’m wondering if some room have been updated compared to others as last time we stayed there we had a very comfy bed.

Cons: Car was broken into at the car park used for this hotel. No where to park your car safely. Valet parking was full so if you want to be sure your car is safe dont go here as they can't guarantee good safe parking.

Pros: Nice room and nice bathroom. I’m picky about bathrooms - this one was nice.

Cons: I was only there for a night. I didn’t discover any negatives.

Pros: I travelled with my daughter for a family wedding and the location of the Ibis was perfect. The staff were very helpful, facilities always clean and tidy and the room met all our expectations.

Cons: We were in rom 811 and the fridge froze the contents we put in there, even though it was on the lowest setting possible. Also the toilet ran a little after flushing - apologies I forgt to mention these things to the staff at receptio when we checked out. They weren't big things however you may want to get your maintenance team to have a look.

Cons: Need more electrical sockets in the room
