Cons:I had to cancel my trip due to the coronavirus abd shutdowns in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Sixt was the only supplier that failed to give me 100% refund. They assessed a 3-day penalty and only after my complaint gave me a voucher for the amount they assessed. I live in Thailand and it is doubtful that I can use the voucher within the deadline forced on me.Reviewed Apr 30 2020

Pros:Proactive and friendly staff. Called a couple days ahead to see if there were any special requests. Very unique for the car rental industry. Easy pick up and drop off. Very clean. Brand new vehicle.Reviewed Feb 20 2021

Cons:I got a call 2 days before the rental to remind me. The reservationist said I was to pick the car up on Mission St in SF and I was sure it was at SFO. She said the Mission shop would be closed before I got there. I asked how much to switch to SFO and she gave me a rate of $2800, triple the original quote. Told her to cancel and ended up making other arrangements. After cancelling I looked at my reservation and it WAS a SFO pick up. Had I not gotten that call I would have completed my original reservation. Somebody at Sixt screwed up and cost me a lot of grief and money.Reviewed Nov 21 2020

Pros:Absolutely nothing.Cons:I prepaid for my vehicle before arriving. Upon arrival to pick up my vehicle they said since I did not pay with a credit card they would have to refund my account which would take a few business days and that I would have to pay with a credit card instead. The only way my payment would be good on my debit card and a refund would not have to be issued was for me to take a downgrade in vehicle.Reviewed Jul 2 2020

Fine as long as you plan on the extra time to get to the airportPros:There's a phone charging station in their lobby that you can use while waiting.Cons:Make sure to plan to return the car extra early if you have a flight to catch. Their facility isn't located with the other airport car rental companies (even though it is listed as an airport location), but rather about a mile from their competitors. They have a shuttle, but it doesn't take you all the way to the airport; instead only going to where the other car rental companies are, and from there you have to catch a train to get to the airport. Between waiting for the shuttle and waiting for a train, this means it'll probably take an hour from when you drop off the car to when you make it to the TSA line. Also, be on the lookout for the shuttle, because one can come and go without letting the people waiting inside the lobby know.Reviewed Nov 26 2017

Pros:Easy location in central San FranCons:Rentals I think generally in the US seem to be overpriced when comparing to Australia. The lady that we dealt with when dropping the car off in San Francisco was very sour and not pleasant at all. Also, I booked a Buick, hoping for an American car on our American trip (was given a Volvo). The lady said that the company specialises in European cars, yet I was initially offered a Buick and the picture on the front of the flier I received was of a Cadillac. In saying this, the Volvo that I did receive was in pristine condition (just a personal preference).Reviewed Sep 12 2018

Jacked up for bogus damagesCons:After returning the car, Sixt sent me an email to request information about a damage claim. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that I had filed a damage claim. When I refuted that, they looked at the record and determined that the damage claim on file was for a different vehicle than the one I had rented. They then went on To tell me that there was still damage to the car... I asked for details concerning the so-called damage and was sent three photos that were taken in the dark. One of the license plate, one of scratches on the underside of the bumper, and one of the front quarter panel that didn't show any damage. As far as I can tell, the only way to spot this 'damage' is to look under the car. You can't see this from a standing position. I didn't hit anything with this car so I am certain that this damage was pre-existing. How in the world was I to know that this damage existed? I've never had to look at the underside of a rental car before. I'm wondering if this kind of thing is common with Sixt. It's safe to say that I won't be renting with them again.Reviewed Apr 13 2017

Pros:Everything about the service was fine until the payment. I was charged for tolls that I had already paid. I cannot get anyone from Sixt to respond to my emails. Very unfortunate as everything else about our rental experience was excellent.Cons:I have been charged for tolls that I had already paid. I brought this to their attention and have not received a response. I've tried customer service as well as billing... nothing! In fact, not even an acknowledgement that my complaint was received.Reviewed Jun 27 2018
