Pros: The Hotel is ok but I feel that at the rate I was chaged it was poor value for money
Cons: I was charged over £130 for a room that I would expect to pay less than £100. They explained that this was because in times of high demand they increase the cost of the room. I feel, however that if they are going to do that they have to be judged against a hotel that can command that sort of price. I would have expected basics like bottled water, mini bar etc Also I would expext that the room would be in good condition but there was enamel missing from the bath, the carpet was grubby and even getting into the room wasn't easy because the lock was worn. I went to dinner and had to ask for bread with my soup. Then had to ask for butter. This is a hotel that tries to squeeze every last £ out of its customers. When I checked out they refused to provide a VAT receipt. So really the room cost is equivelent to £150 for the night. As a fairly seasoned traveller I feel embarrased to have been ripped off in this way. The hotel is OK, good location so don't be put off it you are looking for a basic hotel in a nice building. The staff are pretty good at what they do too but clearly the group management are not interested in building customer loyalty from frequent travellers like me. I will be very wary about going there again.

Pros: Food was good although quite expensive i thought.
Cons: Room was clean but very tired and was charged for full breakfast although i only had cereal and coffee.

5,4 Okay
Pros: Good location, have stayed before and had a reasonable experience. Staff are friendly.
Cons: On this particular stay the room was like a sauna, no hot water in the morning for a shower. Had very little sleep because of the temperature in the room. Breakfast was also not particularly good.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: Parking facilities too far from hotel. One staff member trying to run the bar, and work on reception. No one manning reception upon arrival. Had to use the phone to advise that I was waiting. At this point I realized the staff member was serving in the bar. So quite a long wait to check in. Next morning, staff member working on reception, waitressing for breakfast. Lack of staffing. Was disappointed with the room. Clean and basic but not worth the cost paid. This hotel was a five star in the past. Now just about merits two stars
6,0 Good
Pros: Convenient for Rugby School and town. Willing staff.
Cons: Slightly creaky old hotel but did its job for a short stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Due to a migraine, I had to knock 2 days, out, of my 3 day planned stay ! They couldn’t have been kinder, money returned swiftly, exemplary service in my book.

6,0 Good
Cons: A very comfortable stay in a very convenient location in a beautiful village. The hotel and restaurant has only been open for 2 weeks following the change in ownership and major refurbishment so there were a few teething problems, but the staff did their best.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Me and my partner did an over night stay here as it was linked to guy fawkes along with the manor down the road, think that the refurbishment was lovely. The accommodation had everything you could ask for comfortable night sleep to bath robes when you got out the shower, we also had the breakfast and he delivered it to our bedroom which was ever so nice of them. All the bar staff where lovely and welcoming and Mandy gave us some good stories about the ghosts that hunt the place along with guy fawkes information. We also had the road dinner which was served up lovely and tasted just as amazing
Cons: don’t think anything we really disliked, was little dust on the skirting boards but that is expected when they just opened after refurbishment.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room had a nice shower, comfy bed and was quiet.Lee went out of his way to be friendly and make sure I had what I wanted.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: All good. Breakfast - no complaints at all. Bedroom nice, ensuite dated but clean. Good value for money.
Cons: Couldn't get wifi to work, but wasn't there long enough for this to be a problem.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff - stayed here a few times years ago and it was the same then, so not just luck. Comfy bed in decent sized room.
Cons: Room close to needing a refresh - to be honest it was best described as tired.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Warm and friendly welcome
Cons: The worst mattress I've ever slept on: lumpy and sagging, and the first room I was shown smelt of stale smoke. But I have to add that management were helpful, and assured me that they would look into the mattress. It's room 5.
7,0 Good
Pros: This is a budget hotel which I chose for proximity to the station. The room facilities could do with upgrading although I had a good nights sleep on both nights. There were a couple of items requiring maintenance (lavatory seat and shower mounting). I was in room 8 on the top floor, the steep stairs would be problematic for some. However, the staff were very pleasant and the full English breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: The car park is very compact (6 spaces - provided everyone parks between the lines!!!) and access is tight for a Bentley. There is plenty additional parking just over the road but in an unlit and dark area at night.
7,0 Good
Pros: Room was very spacious, warm & comfortable
Cons: Nothing really.
7,5 Good
Pros: Need to sort out the WIFI which kept randomly dropping out. My room was fine but the French door didn’t shut properly nor the skylight outside my door which caused a gale blowing from under the door & the windows. Good location & friendly staff. Breakfast times a bit limited could be extended to 10.00 for the weekend.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Warm, comfortable, quiet, central location, able to park in courtyard Cannot comment on food - did not eat there

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything pretty good
Cons: A bit more choice for the evening meal but what we had was excelant
5,0 Okay
Pros: The location was convenient and the staff were really attentive and polite. The receptionist sorted my parter and I with a double room when there was a mistake with our booking.
Cons: The general cleanliness in the room was below average with very dated/old bathroom. The room needed refreshing and a thorough clean. The runner on the bed was particularly dirty.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good and the bed was comfy.
Cons: There was a flood light right outside our bedroom window which glared into the bedroom all night; the TV sound quality was very poor with an underlying wurrr and even when raising this with the staff, they just played with a few cables and said there was nothing they could do; the bathroom was dirty with a horribly stained shower curtain; the entire hotel lacked any sort of atmosphere.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The super king bed was very comfortable. Restaurant food was very tasty and at a great price
Cons: Bathroom water pressure was poor. Shower tray leaked.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Location ...
Cons: Basic room
7,0 Good
Pros: Great location for our travels. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant was really nice.
Cons: Nice size room but was a little tired and could do with a proper clean as was quite dusty, the corners had dust gathered in them.

Pros: The staff are friendly that's the good bit . The building is very dirty the toilet in reception is very poor and needs a good clean. The room was very dirty mould on the tiles off the bathroom the toilet seat was broken . The windows in the room made noise all night . I will never visit the hotel again .

4,2 Okay
Pros: Location - lovely village
Cons: On arrival was shown room - threadbare carpets and portable oil radiator in room ! Should have realised then. Went down for food the rancid day smell wafted in from the kitchen so I stuck to a bag of crisps . In the morning attempted a shower - apparently the boiler was playing up - freezing cold water - strip wash in sink and hair washed with kettle. Management played dumb but obviously the portable radiator was a give away . No apology no refund. Absolute disgrace . Travelled down to deliver a presentation to consultants at the hospital - facilities here a rubbish

Pros: The dinner in the evening was fabulous and the breakfast was good too. The staff were great, really helpful, friendly and welcoming.

7,0 Good
Pros: Price
Cons: I waited 40 minutes in the car park to check in, nobody was in the hotel at all. Very stressful start but a comfortable stay. Just a bit of communication would have made my stay infinitely better. Having said that, I would stay there again.
7,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Bed ok, wi-fi ok, parking.
Cons: They didn't know we were coming as someone hadn't checked the bookings in the morning. We got two single grubby tatty tired rooms up on the top floor, size of room ok, no heating in bathrooms, cobwebs hanging from light, old and scuffed furniture, cold rooms as heating put on when we arrived. No atmosphere, receptionist unwelcoming, felt having breakfast (which was very overpriced for what you got) was a chore for them to provide. One room had an extremely below standard shower cubicle which could not be used due to the peeling paintwork on tiles and black mould, and a sink in the room rather than the bathroom. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS especially rooms 10 and 11.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Easy onsite parking , comfy bed, clean sheets god size room
Cons: Receptionist was not welcoming no please or thank you. NOISY! A band was playing what sounded like right underneath us it was very loud and went on until at least midnight. The room was a good size but stank of cooking, the sink was randomly placed in the corner and the TV up so high I got a crick in my neck.

9,1 Excellent
Pros: The room was large, good bathroom comfortable bed. Impressed with room which was excellent value. Internet in public areas was free and good.
Cons: No mobile signal anywhere in hotel, I had to go outside to use my mobile which made it very hard for people to contact me. Expensive internet in room - £7.00 each per day for phone or tablet. Small TV considering the size of the room. Not being able to use my phone and receive calls will stop me staying here again.
1,0 Poor
Cons: I booked a superior room the room I was put in was not superior it was filthy hadn’t been cleaned at all bathroom was filthy the bed sheets were dirty I think I stayed around 1 hour and a half to 2 hours as was very uncomfortable staying in such dirty conditions

1,0 Poor
Pros: Nothing. Would never go back and will be telling everyone to avoid
Cons: Awful hotel, rooms are depressing. Badly lit, poor old furniture, dark and dingy. Terrible bathrooms and poor plumbing. Arrived late after a long time and desperately tried to find alternative hotel for that night.

Pros: Breakfast was fabulous lots of choice

5,8 Okay
Pros: Fabulous character of building and beautiful grounds
Cons: Our room was tired. Would have been good to have a bottle of mineral water in the room, especially given the room rate for the feature room of £135/night. I was disappointed in having to pay to park my car there, albeit only £5/night but as a guest and given the fact their car park is the size of Wembley stadium, I would suggest that guests should be able to park their car free.

Pros: We loved the location & our room was ver comfortable, clean,
Cons: We found that it was very noisy till midnight from a party that was going on
10,0 Excellent
Pros: all the lot

8,2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were brilliant especially reception team. An amazing Jamaican lady who was fantastic when we arrived and our booking wasn’t on your system. A potentially very upsetting and embarrassing situation was turned into a highlight of the trip by this lady. A real asset!
Cons: Staff in restaurant in jeans- just didn’t look right! Obviously this is just my opinion. Pool changing facilities cold, dirty, no hairdryer, locker didn’t use new pound coins so I couldn’t use it.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was comfortable.
Cons: Thought the evening meal was expensive. Reception staff couldn't find my Hilton Honors number on system, took ages not to find it.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and airy reception area was not exactly inviting but very impressive. The staff were lovely. Especially Preti who recognised me from previous meetings and made a point of welcoming me.
Cons: The bar staff in the evening were a little off hand but not unpleasant. They disappeared soon after eleven and customers were therefore discouraged from making further orders. It’s not a cheap hotel so this would be a great loss to the business over the year.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: All of it, fab service, fab night, next time we will use the facilities
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Being charged for car park when I'm a resident
5,0 Okay
Pros: The pool was ok. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The pool was very small. Bed was so hard and uncomfortable and the air conditioning unit was very noisy.
2,0 Mediocre
Cons: I knew I'd have to pay a supplement for the dogs but £60, for 3 Miniature Dachshunds, that are kept in a crate in the room! My friend wasnt charged at all and when I ordered food I was charged a £2 service charge and my friends werent, staff cleared the table before we were all finished, we felt like we were an inconvenience and in the way. I came away feeling totally victimised. EVERY hotel I've stayed in in the past (quite a few doing the show circuit) have halved the dog price as they're so small and short haired. Wont be returning!

Cons: A very comfortable stay in a very convenient location in a beautiful village. The hotel and restaurant has only been open for 2 weeks following the change in ownership and major refurbishment so there were a few teething problems, but the staff did their best.
