Pros: The food was superb!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and superb food. Friendly, yet professional & efficient staff. First class service. Welll appointed large twin room with beams and small but perfectly formed en suite High spec fixtures & fittings. Charming olde worlde building with endless niches and landings. A real touch of class in luxurious surroundings.
Cons: Only milk for hot drinks in fridges up and down several stairs on various landings around higgledy piggledy hotel. If fridges not possible in rooms then easier, cheaper and fresher to keep Uht milk sachets in all rooms! Noisy at first and initial view of annexe rooves disappointing as chose back of hotel for fell views and peace and quiet! But selected room with twin beds so perhaps above limited in this respect.

Pros: The food was excellent and the owner went out of their way to make us feel at home.
Cons: We could hear the pipes knock when bathroom toilet was flushed in other rooms.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel with superb food and genial host and staff. Richmond a lovely Market Town.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The Frenchgate restaurant was wonderful and highly recommended if you are staying a the hotel or visiting Richmond. The bedroom had a huge and extremely comfortable bed which made for a great nights sleep. Tea/coffee facilities were ample and of good choice. As breakfast wasn't included in the room fee we cannot comment on it. The owner is very friendly and the staff all polite.
Cons: After viewing the website and photos of the rooms we were a little disappointed with our room. It appears that the rooms are all of different standards even when paying the same price for a superior double room. The bathroom was not as modern as expected and the over bath rain head shower was not powerful. The pipes in the room also banged loudly after flushing the toilet and when other rooms had flushed or turned taps off, possibly due to the water pressure. The TV did not work as it had No Signal, as it was 11.00pm at night thought it a little late to ask. ( Forgot to mention this on check-out) Overall the stay was pleasant. however on reflection feel that the room fee was overpriced.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The food.
Cons: Walls quite thin you could hear other guests.

Pros: Comfortable bed & rooms full of character. Food is excellent & lovely quiet location. I am a repeat visitor & will happily return again.
Cons: The internet connection wasn't very reliable & was quite slow. Not a problem for a leisure stay but can be frustrating for a business traveller.

Pros: Had a lovley quiet stay. The views were amazing and staff were very friendly. Could not fault it as is was just the kind of relaxing few days we were looking for with lots for our 8 year old daughter to explore. Will definitely return.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I had never stayed in a camping pod before, and was really surprised at how great they are. It was warm, and comfortable for 2 friends. We could have eaten at the hostel or prepared our own meals, both were available. The self catering kitchen is well stocked. There is a small bar. Will definitely come again.
Cons: Ran out of hot water in the afternoon. The hostel was full, with a primary school group...so probably ran out of hot water, when we wanted a shower. We waited half an hour and had a Luke warm one

Cons: having to leave the next day !

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Food portions very large and very tasty
Cons: Nothing
6,0 Good
Pros: Beautiful hotel, I had a wonderful stay minus a few incidents. I must say that Susan was an absolute asset to the team and made my stay very comfortable.
Cons: I experienced a few misunderstandings and a major downfall was a member of staff called Micheal. He was terribly rude when I made a food order from a restaurant outside the hotel and was very confrontational about this. He informed me that outside food can not be consumed within the hotel and began to argue with me in reception about this. On a tour of the Castles Dungeons he down sold the hotel referring to the Dungeon as the Pantry and informing us that the castle wasn’t a castle it was actually just a Manor House but it looks better on paper to call it a castle. On another occasion, I purchased drinks in the hotel bar, the bar staff got the drinks order wrong, when I went to Rectify the error the member of staff was busy so as a goodwill gesture we said that I go back tomorrow and have the refund completed then to which the staff member agreed. The following day I went back to have the refund completed and was told that a refund needs to be done on the same day however that wasn’t explained the night before.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Warm friendly feeling.
Cons: Nothing
7,3 Good
Pros: Beautiful setting. Spacious rooms and bathroom. Authentic castle atmosphere and decorations. Good food, available all day and evening. It was the perfect setting for our family.
Cons: The beds were very hard, I ended up sleeping on the sofa. I've had back surgery and a hip replacement and could not bear to lie on this hard mattress, felt like concrete. The staff said they would bring up another duvet for me to lie on but it never appeared, so I had 3 sleep-deprived nights.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle with many original features. The rooms were very tastefully decorated with attention to detail, we really loved staying there. The grounds and surrounding countryside were beautiful and the food in the restaurant amazing.
Cons: Nothing it was perfect.
5,0 Okay
Cons: heater was turned off during the night and the room was literally freezing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The building, the staff, the bar/restaurant and the food were a complete hit.
Cons: West Wing room was very dated with a tiny, cramped bathroom. The tv only had sporadic channels available - no ITV, Channel 4 etc.

Cons: Couldn’t sleep as I was at the front and heard every vehicle that passed by.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: My Mother-in-law and I only stayed the one night as we were in the area to attend a funeral. However, I would gladly return. Every member of staff we encountered were lovely, such a friendly, happy group of people. We had an evening meal and breakfast, both were delicious. Our rooms were huge as were the bathrooms. My M.I.L already had an upgraded room but I had booked myself just a standard room, however, as the hotel was a little quieter (Sunday evening) the lovely lady on reception upgraded my room...it was a beautiful room with a four poster bed. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area
Cons: The entrance to the hotel isn’t the easiest to find...it’s just not where you think it is going to be...but don’t give up, you will find it eventually.

Pros: The location was excellent. The hotel was lovely.
Cons: The Waste bins were collected the next morning, with a cobbled street it was a bit noisy.

Pros: the bar and restaurant staff in the evening were very good and the food was adequate
Cons: Breakfast staff coughing and sneezing all over my breakfast, very disconcerting. the first room I had 207 was cold and had no hot water the bed was not at all comfortable, second room 103 was also very very cold and although this was meant to be an upgrade did have a bath and shower but the floor tiles moved when walked on and were freezing. The bed was also uncomfortable. The TV's in both rooms did not work. the reception woman on leaving refused to take on my complaints!

Pros: The restaurant food was lovely. The staff were very nice. The Americano coffees with hot milk were lovely. The room was good but the bathroom was fabulous. We managed to park at the back. We only had one cocktail but it was lovely. I couldn't have more cos I had to start antibiotics. The breakfast was lovely. Try a sticky toffee muffin, the toffee was lovely, the gooey sticky stuff was lush, the cake was yum......mmmmmm
Cons: The fact that neither of us were well but it means we have to go back

Pros: There was nothing I didn’t like. This was one of the best places I’ve ever stayed; the decor was tasteful, the room spacious and well appointed, the bed fantastically comfortable. The walk in shower was great. Most of all the staff were outstanding and cannot be praised highly enough. Thank you.

Pros: The hotel was centrally located. The rooms were really nice&very clean. All of the staff were very friendly &accomadating ,nothing was too much for them,a very pleasant change .The hotel is situated on a busy main road so obviously you’re going to experience some road noise however this settles at about 11pm and did not really affect us. We can thoroughly recommend the restaurant food was excellent and standard continued through to breakfast We will definately return

Pros: Lovely looking hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, large spacious rooms, comfortable beds, good sized tv, free WiFi, amazing shower. There are also a few very good restaurants nearby, I would recommend the Taste of Thailand which is just round the corner.
Cons: No dedicated parking available meaning managing the car was a bit of a faff, but not a deal breaker.
