Pros:Easy check-inCons:Car I reserved was not available. Was given a car in a lower category, and told I needed to contact Kayak to get a refund on the difference. Why couldn't they just refund me on the spot? And why wasn't a car I reserved available?Reviewed Sep 29 2020

Pros:The woman who helped me check out my car first was very sweet.Cons:The cars were all extremely dirty. I even had to change cars twice because they had a strange animal pee smell and hair everywhere. Idk why these were considered to be good to rent out? Then I take a car and half way to my very short destination the car says to change the oil!! It started shaking. I was worried so I rented another while at my vacation spot. Was sad but whatever I guess. Just won’t be using the avis/Payless/budget rentals again..Reviewed Jul 12 2020

Pros:The staff person that assisted me was friendly and helpful. Great value. The drop off couldn't have been easier, a staff member was right there to receive the car and keys when I pulled in and the drop off is right at the Fresno/Yosemite airport.Reviewed Jul 9 2019

Payless was terrible.Pros:Nothing.Cons:I reserved a car for $18.04 per day. When I arrived, they said that they didn't have a car available. "Mika" said they had one car available, but I'd have to pay $85 dollars per day for it. He said, "That's your own fault for going through a 3rd party company" (in reference to Kayak). I left without a car. I told my husband. He went up to the counter. He talked to "Barbara." She said that she would give us the car for $28.04 per day. Take it or leave it. We needed a car, so we were forced to take it. We will never use Payless again. We will likely never use Kayak again.Reviewed Jan 9 2019

There was no car when we arrivedCons:We reserved on Kayak via Hotwire on Memorial Day weekend. Too many middlemen, I guess, because when we arrived the clerk informed us that there were no more cars available and that their car availability doesn’t sync with Hotwire’s site. Luckily Thrifty had cars available!Reviewed May 30 2018

Pros:I upgraded to a larger car at a reasonable price.It rode very nice and the gas mileage was good! The counter agent was most helpful checking in.Cons:Car had been smoked in and the windshield was smeary. The phone number listed was disconnected. The agent said they had been trying to get it fixed.....not acceptable. Computers were down on Tues May 1,Reviewed May 2 2018
