10,0 Excellent
Pros: The bathroom was amazing, nice clean rooms, dog friendly, lovely staff.
6,0 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely, and arriving at the property is an impressive sight.
Cons: There is not a lot of care or thought put into this place. It's a castle, yes, but it seems as though it's geared towards making the most money it can having put in the least amount of effort and investment. Decor is very cheap and tacky, it's worn in a way that lacks rather than adds character, and details are overlooked. To give you an idea: a flat TV screen showing funky visualisations as it's playing a music channel, plays the likes of Missy Elliott and Jennifer Lopez (which mind you I'd be happy to hear at the pub down the road on a night out), hanging over the bar area which could otherwise have been elegant and gorgeous.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Lovely location & a beautiful building from outside. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Rooms in need of updating/modernising. Bed was a small double and could feel the springs through the mattress. The room was clean but smelled of dogs and we found a dirty sock near the bed. Public toilets were not up to scratch. Men’s had one small hand towel. No working hand drier or disposable towels.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing. Food amazing...staff amazing..I've just come home from a friend's wedding and they did an amazing job! The food was beyond amazing and breakfast as well
7,5 Good
Pros: Loved the history of this castle (I would recommend doing the free tour & watching the little video of the history also). Staff were friendly & very helpful. There are lovely walks near by. Though we didn't have a dog, it's a great place to stay where you can take your doggy. Bathroom was lovely and newly renovated. Rooms were clean & tidy. Nice views from the restaurant & lounge areas) I'm still glad we stayed 1 night for the experience. It looks like a nice place for a wedding venue.
Cons: Rooms basic though clean & tidy. The bed was a small double bed (which they did state on the website) however we haven't slept on a bed for over 40 years where the coils were poking through. (The staff said the owner would be pleased to hear any reviews as they are still in the process of upgrading the castle. The shared lounge needs updating. The restaurant had a very limited menu so we choose to eat elsewhere. The bar ran out of certain drinks we asked for. Apparently we arrived in low-season and there is a lot more on offer in peak time. A nice place for a wedding but for a couple travelling through it lacked atmosphere for us.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location only
Cons: Freezing cold through out No tv remote in room toilet was really difficult to flush Only one drinking glass in room Smallest tv Iv ever seen Breakfast poor standard For £140 a night was way over priced Would never go back Unless new owners and refurbished

Cons: No hot water - but otherwise fantastic
7,0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast options continental or full
Cons: Shower was playing up in our room, but they tried to fix it for me. Certainly needs a little attention in Room 2 upstairs. I think the boiler had run low on hot water and the pressure was a bit down. It was a bit of an issue as I was cold after a walk on the beach.
7,9 Good
Pros: Great space big tv big comfy bed good fridge
Cons: Just a few tiny things need doing to the apartment floors in both bathroom floors need fixing due to cracked tile and ripped lino
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with v friendly staff
Cons: Standard of cleaning in bathroom area
6,0 Good
Pros: The location was great, just a short stroll to restaurants and sea. Breakfast was ok, not much choice but adequate.
Cons: The bathroom was very small and the shower doors only opened a little way so had to practically go in sideways, plus the shower sounded like a tank, extremely noisy! I wasn't informed until arrival that the restaurant wouldn't be open until at least 7.30pm due to a private function which was a shame, so I went out to eat.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Both breakfast and dinner had a wide choice, were delicious and offered great value for money.
Cons: Room was not cleaned on the first day of our stay.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great one night stay at this hotel and would definitely use it again if I am in the area
Cons: Nothing really
4,0 Okay
Pros: Room
Cons: I ordered dinner which took over 35min to arrive and then it was clear that at least parts of the meal had been left under heating too long (rubbery) seafood, burnt chorizo. Dinner and a beer was refunded as an apology, however I would of preferred dinner to have been nice and paid for it. Breakfast. The bacon was very under cooked and the Hash browns had been placed in the same heating device as the mushrooms which meant that all the condensation had made them go soggy.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Nice Pool
Cons: Spacious Rooms
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Good size room and clean and tidy Bathroom, Breakfast was very nice with lots of options.
Cons: I had a twin room so would have preferred a Double bed, and room was quite warm and I could not cool down without opening the window which I was not comfortable with being on the ground floor

6,0 Good
Pros: The best bit was the breakfast - excellent breakfast, great service and the view from the dining area was good - across the golf course and the common land with roaming wild ponies and sheep. The room was clean and fittings were new. Good shower - the only spacious area in our room. We liked the out-of-town location.
Cons: Unfortunately we had one of the 2 rooms on the top floor. It only had a velux window, so no view. It was very small and (for me) felt rather claustrophobic without a window. Definitely worth making sure you get one of the 4 rooms on the 1st floor. The beds were not very comfortable - inexpensive, rather hard mattresses.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good reception on T.V Wifi very good bathroom was clean and had complimentary toiletries.
Cons: Quilt too small and mattress very lumpy. Sorry not a good nights sleep
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was delicious! The staff attentive although it was strange going back and forth to check in. I think the weather contributed that though. Overall a lovely stay and worth what we paid.
Cons: The blinds in the room were warped and it felt uncomfortable in the room with the light on as you could literally be seen outside if anyone was getting in their car.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast.
Cons: Only 2 satchet of sugar for 2 people. Mold on bathroom blind.

Pros: This is our second stay at chapel barn, the staff are lovely, the location is spot on for both summer and winter and the views are amazing. This is a working farm and Horse riding centre so it is very authentic. If you are after a super star hotel then stay at the Marriott. Pros: The view
Cons: The shower didn’t work properly nor the oven or toaster , the sockets in one bedroom didn’t work at all

Pros: Location fantastic, excellent views, very friendly staff helpful and the welcome gift pack was so thoughtful. 2 bottles of beer, 4 Welsh cakes, treats and toys for the dogs, small towels to clean the dogs paws, information pack, the bed linen and the bed was extremely clean and comfortable, the views from the. Cottage looked n the court yard and ahead the views of Swansea bay.. the settee wasn't the kind you can slouch on but it was made comfortable with the foot stool. Very very dog friendly which we loved, the relaxed feel about it made our holiday all the more enjoyable. Would we go again? Absolutely
Cons: The front door was very draughty

6,0 Good
Pros: everything was a available and all freshly cooked
1,0 Poor
Pros: Low price.
Cons: Being light sleepers we asked for a room on the top floor at the quiet end of the hotel. (The hotel was not busy so this should not have been too difficult) The room that we were eventually allocated was NOT on the top floor and next to the hotels "goods inwards" unloading bay. From 3.30 am the delivery lorries started arriving! "BEEP BEEP BEEP" as the lorries reversed up alongside our room! Yes, we heard the roller shutter doors, yes we heard the tail lift. and yes we heard the trolley being dragged across the concrete and "Bang" through the hotel doors. Just how stupid can the staff be? We had very little sleep and left exhausted. NEVER AGAIN. I attach a couple of pictures. Picture 1 should put you off eating here. Picture 2 shows just how close the lorries were to our room.

Pros: The food and cocktails were very good!!
Cons: Was not very clean. Trays of food and drinks outside multiple rooms, our room stunk of smoke, our remote batteries had burst and had leaked all over the remote. A hole had been punched in the stair wall, with all the plaster still left on the stairs for a few hours, the pool door enterance had a bloody plaster on the floor, muddy footprints. Lets just say i was glad i found a really good price for the room!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: A lovely stay at the Village for an anniversary stay. We love staying here! It’s always perfect to near facilities to shop, eat and drink as much as you like. Requested an upgraded room as a treat and were granted this upgrading to a club room which was overlooking the new marina. Food was great- as always! One issue with a meal was rectified smoothly! Spa was included with room stay and room was comfortable- we settled in pretty nicely!
Cons: Understood that it was match day (Wales V England) and it was going to be busy, however queues were considerably long. Upon arriving back to hotel after an afternoon out it took almost 15 minutes to get served for a jug of water to take to the room and 5 members of staff talking at the end of the bar without serving or checking if we were ok. There was a whistling through the window of the bedroom but this wasn’t an issue as winds were high during this time. We were impressed with the heat of the steam room and sauna at the venue however one lock we were provided didn’t work for the lockers and also the jacuzzi was a cold/luke warm temperature with a small pool half cut off for swimming.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Check in was slow, would be so much quicker with a real check in. Bed rolled away when I sat against headboard to watch TV. Breakfast was mostly ok but scrambled eggs were inedible, no decent coffee and the plates were cold. Don’t even get me started on the pay parking!!
Cons: See above

Pros: Appreciated coffee shop and excellent gym facilities
Dylan Thomas House - Swansea - Building

9,2 Excellent (8 reviews)

Overview Reviews
Enjoy exclusive use of this peaceful, beautifully restored Edwardian house, the birthplace of the poet Dylan Thomas. It can sleep 1 to 7 people across the 4 bedrooms. Swansea centre is 1 mile away and the start of the Gower Beaches is 5 miles away. The home which was originally owned by the Thomas family, has a retro Edwardian décor that includes a phonogram, books, newspapers of the day and games. Much of Thomas' published output was written in the house. Apart from Dylan’s bedroom, which has been described as the first World Literary Heritage Site in Wales, there are 2 double bedrooms and a twin bedded room. On the ground floor are 3 reception rooms and a kitchen. There is a garden to the rear of the house. Cwmdonkin Park is a short walk away. A guided house tour is undertaken on arrival and experienced guides are available for tours with Dylan Thomas Country.

Pros: A great atmospheric step back in time . Wonderful !
Cons: Nothing at all.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: My wife described the house as if Dylan Thomas 'had just popped out for a bit'. The house was an exceptional and memorable place to be, like staying in a time capsule such was the attention to detail. Would definitely recommend. The brief film of Jimmy Carter recommending the house was amazing and particularly poignant.
Cons: All was fine!
7,9 Good
Pros: Historic atmosphere
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Geoff the owner very welcoming and gave a quick tour of the property which was wonderfully atmospheric and much more spacious than expected.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: It was very homey
Cons: None
7,3 Good
Pros: The warmth of the welcome, the fact that the house had been restored to its Edwardian origins with painstaking detail .... and the fact that it was Dylan Thomas's birthplace and family home. The proprietor had left lots of excellent information and books to bring Dylan Thomas 'back to life'.
Cons: The 'hotel' was really good. The only reservation I have is the pricing policy. We paid £300 for 3 nights for the entire 4 bedroomed house, yet there was also a charge per person if we exceeded 2 adults. This is very confusing! I think the charge should either be based on rental of the property, or price per person - not both!
6,7 Good
Pros: It was a wonderful experience of days gone by. The children thought it was fantastic as it was like a museum without the barriers!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Dylan Thomas House is a work of art and you will never forget your stay. As soon as you cross the threshold you step back into Edwardian times and every room is truly fascinating. It is still a very comfortable hotel but also a truly different and memorable experience.

Pros: Karen the owner was extremely helpful and friendly
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff very friendly and helpful. Room exactly what we needed for a party of three. Rooms cleaned everyday and fresh towels. Tea making facilities topped up everyday Breakfast had plenty of options. Highlight of our stay was having a riding lesson for our 4 year old once the rain stopped. Highly skilled girls put our george at ease. He loved it. They were a little concerned he was upset and walked him over to us on his pony to check with us he was ok which I thought was lovely. Just a bit of water in his eye and he was off again doing tricks and a little gallop on shell. Would have loved to do the 2 hour trek but the weather held us back. Hoping to stay again in the near future for more horse fun. It's a great base for the show caves which is just down the road and a must for dinosaur fans.
Cons: The weather, storm dennis put a dampner on things as everything we wanted to do was outdoors and with a 4 year old we didnt want him catching a cold.

Pros: Just had a stay for the night due to a wedding across the road, we used this property for the price and location, was not disappointed, clean rooms, accommodating owner, as it says in the info and reviews, this is a working stable, the odd noise from a dog, horse etc, it didnt bother us, great breakfast in the morning, good place to visit the local area and beyond!
Cons: Cant think of anything
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, breakfast were hot and tasty and plentiful, owners were very friendly and helpful making sure we were warm enough by offering us extra heaters, a beautiful waterfall just outside the bedroom window, amazing hacking for those who want to take advantage of the riding facilities, amazing value for money.
Cons: The room we stayed in was very comfortable warm and clean, we were given a choice of the attic room which had fantastic views of the mountains and the ponies also, we couldn’t fault the accommodation at all.
1,0 Poor
Pros: Hosts nice
Cons: Unkempt accommodation with strong smell of wet dog, dog hairs in the bed and dirty underwear under the bed Breakfast served with lack of hand hygiene Cramped accommodation with low ceilings requiring parts of room to crouch down. Lack of basic provisions such as toilet paper, towels, tea and coffee facilities in the room, milk in the room. Mattress uncomfortable resulting in waking up with a bad back

3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The location was convenient as we had a conference near by the next day, this is why we booked this location! The downstairs/restaurant area is nicely decorated!
Cons: The car park will be charging £10.00 per night as of the 1st of March 2020! We checked in, were advised the pool/spa closes for a few hours every afternoon so we were unable to use this! This was the main reason I booked this hotel, so disappointed! Checked into our room, reminded me of a 1970's seaside hotel! Dated décor & furniture! The floor boards were the nosiest I have ever witnessed! You literally could not make a step anywhere in the room without causing an awful noise, feel sorry for those on the ground floor! We decided to have a coffee! £3.50 for an espresso in the bar! The food/drinks prices were absolutely ridiculous so were left an ate elsewhere! We wont come back, really disappointed overall!
5,0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast very good. The food was good quality the staff good. The bar and restaurant area was good. The pool was enjoyed.
Cons: Parking was difficult car park mostly full. Full of conferences weight watchers and whatever else. The pool seemed to be used by people not staying at hotel. 1 day we had to wait to use pool as too many in it which is fine but not if those people are not staying at hotel. Our room was tired. Bed wobbly kids bed was tiny and pretty much on the floor the kettle plug did not reach the plug hole I had to move the stand The bathroom old and in need of refitting. The shower barely dribbled out so had to run a bath which took forever lack of water pressure? The toilet was repaired the flush temperamental and made a groaning noise it needs putting out its misery. The chrome work had rust the door paint flaking off the bottom. This is the 3rd visit to this hotel in the last 13 months I’m in Swansea every month don’t think I will risk here again. Other hotels far better rooms and cheaper but no pool.

5,0 Okay
Pros: The bar area was modern, bright and comfortable. The room was comfortable and clean.
Cons: The pool was so small it was ridiculous, nothing like the photos made it look. The gym was literally four machines and the sauna comfortably sat four people, changing rooms and showers were poor. The corridors leading to the room were very shabby.

Cons: Room was basic, remote control didn't work and the swimming pool was closed.
5,0 Okay
Pros: the looks of the hotel from the out side, and the guy on the desk was helpful.
Cons: Hotel was very dated, desperately needs a refurb. It smelt of old and damp. Carpet in my rooms had ripples in it. Looked and felt dusty, the window where misty, looks amazing out side but really disappointed inside. I doubt we will stay again and the cheek for 10 pound parking, disgrace.
6,7 Good
Pros: It was central. Perfect for us to visit lots of family in Swansea.
Cons: Had to pay to park. £9.00 per day. Carpets in room need a good clean as did the settee but the bathroom was spotless.

Cons: The car park is quite small do you need to get there quite early to get a space
5,4 Okay

Cons: Very tired decor, not a particularly warm welcome by staff, tea n coffee facilities woeful (had to ask for extra) noisy location. No hairdryer in room.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: We were put in the attic room which you can't stand up in. When I asked to change rooms the owner doubled the price. Needless to say I DO NOT recommend this place. I would like a refund from bookings .com please.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The view was great even though we were during the storm. Very friendly staff. Quiet. The small TV on the wall was great. The bed was great and comfortable too. Free tea and hot chocolate with cups and a kettle.
Cons: My hight is 183cm(6 feet) and the bed was just a tad bit too small, although comfortable. The bathroom door didn't close properly but enough. You can hear people coughing and when they get in and out of their room. Very small space but not a problem for us at least.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly would stay again
Cons: Check out should be a little later then 10 o’clock in the morning
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Didn't have breakfast but the room was clean and tidy, the owners were friendly and the view and location were great.
Cons: nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The sea view
Cons: Later breakfast and later checkout would have been good had to vacate room by 10am although could have been changed with prior arrangement the cleaner started cleaning other rooms at 9am and knocked our door at 9.15 asking what time we were vacating !!!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was great.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a friendly little family-run B & B very much in the tradition of good, traditional seaside B & Bs, but this has the added attraction of being within easy walking distance of the shops and eateries of Uplands and the roads leading to the city centre. Nice, light guest sitting room more than made up for our fairly compact room.
Cons: Some folks might find the noise from the very busy road to the front of the property a little disturbing at night, and it does rather detract from the beach view (and beach really) but you can always request a room on the opposite side of the property.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Owner is very nice and friendly. Room is very clean and comfortable. Very good location.
