Pros: Very clean, comfortable and welcoming in a great location
Cons: There was something whirring through the night like a extractor fan

Cons: But of a problem when all the light's went out, as prior to this my daughter had turned her light on over top bunk and said she had felt a tingle in her hand. Didn't have chance on leaving to tell you this, as needed to get back to Leicester. But overall excellent place to stay would recommend

5,4 Okay
Cons: I’ve stayed here before and scored it a 10/10. Sadly my latest stay was met with grumpy staff, a lack-lustre room and mediocre food. I felt as if I was an inconvenience and remain staggered that breakfast doesn’t start until 08.00! Maybe just stayed on an off day but won’t be rushing back.

Pros: Located in a lovely hamlet above Llangollen The Hand is incredible value in every respect. Gales of Llangollen - Llangollen - Bedroom
5
8,8 Excellent (806 reviews)
R1 440+
Overview Reviews
A glorious Wine Bar and Hotel in two Georgian facade buildings. Wood panelling providing character it opened in 1977. Its tempting to say not much has changed in terms of atmosphere because although it has grown overall it has continued to keep its rooms small and now numbers 20 tables in the wine bar. The upper floors became sixteen en-suite guest rooms. The fifteenth century cellar holds vast quantities of very excellent wine. The Wine Bar and its reputation has flourished and draws in folk from every corner of the earth – each to be plied with wine and food and conversation and responding with degrees of loyalty which see many returning now armed with grandchildren.
7,1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Noise from outside property
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious. Excellent location. Parking space. Great value
Cons: Nothing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Quaint little cottage overlooking the river. Well equipped kitchen and all mod cons that makes a self catering holiday a great choice!
4,2 Okay
Pros: The evening meal we had in the restaurant was well presented and the quality was excellent. Continental breakfast okay, cooked breakfast excellent and worth paying the extra for. Staff friendly and fairly efficient but at times under pressure to serve everyone in a timely manner.
Cons: Accommodation is poor and requires some love and care. Cleanliness could be better and attention to detail is very much needed particularly the dust above and below eye level. Carpets need to be deep cleaned and everything needs to be freshened up. I didn’t use the shower as it was mouldy and smelly. Soft mattress and pillows which for me was uncomfortable. With a little effort the accommodation could be dramatically improved and become a little gem that one would return to again and again. Personally based on my experience I would not return.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was lovely. Although we had one or two problems, everything was dealt with efficiently and nothing was too much trouble. The location of the Gales is excellent as are the staff, the delicious breakfast was plentiful with an amazing amount of choice. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

6,3 Good
Pros: Beautiful location, comfy and clean room. Plenty of parking. friendly atmosphere. Fabulous café in the local town, for breakfast. Was great base for water based activities (White water rafting). Looked like a beautiful wedding venue.
Cons: The blind and phone in the room did not work, when reported to reception, I was told "we will make a note of it". Asked reception for details of a local taxi firm to use, to return from the local town, following a night out, I was given a business card for a local taxi firm. Later that night, when I wanted a taxi, I discovered that this taxi firm needs 24 hours notice for all bookings. My partner had a hernia operation the day before, therefore the walk back (approximately 1 mile walk) to the hotel, was excruciating for him! (hence why I wanted a taxi number). Spa facilities: 25 minute massage at extra cost, seems too short, hydrotherapy pool is very small and intimate, we didn't feel comfortable using it, with the other 6 people already using it!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff are really friendly and helpful. The spa is good. The food is good. Walking distance to Llangollen.
5,1 Okay
Pros: The "Junior Suite" (which is actually a larger bedroom and a bathroom) is a completely different and higher standard of room. I was moved to this room eventually, after complaining about the poor quality of the first two rooms provided.
Cons: Standard room in the older part of the hotel (and I tried two) were of poor quality. Poor and tired decor, cobwebs, stains and broken furniture. The bar food was of dubious quality for the price e.g. £11.95 for a burger (which was quite literally a dry meat pattie in a bun, with no tomato, no onions, no lettuce) and fries. Wifi only works in the "suites" section of the hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, comfortable rooms and beds.
Cons: Everything was great, but maybe the odd more choice for breakfast?
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice comfortable room, good restaurant and spa facilities plenty of parking
Cons: Nothing particularly
7,1 Good
Pros: Dogs very welcome ,lovely grounds and plenty good parking space pl
Cons: Nothing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Locations
Cons: Bed was uncomfortable
7,9 Good
Pros: I was aware that a full English breakfast was an extra £12 odd, but a do it yourself for £ 10 was a bit over the top and don't remember seeing the price of the later I considered the Staff to be very efficient, helpful , polite, and could cope with both the Wedding parties as well as us individuals. Perhaps a little more guidance on access to the Spa and pre booking
Cons: Thought the Bed was very uncomfortable may be a bit of old age, and the pillows were most uncomfortable, foam and rock hard pillows are not my style Easy to get to Town and to the Train Station etc and Parking was itself very easy Not so in town worth warning the visitors
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely hotel close a short walk from the centre of Llangollen. The staff were very friendly and helpful and restaurant was very good
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and very relaxing place
Cons: Staff very pleasant and helpful
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for my husband's special birthday and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the chef even wrote happy birthday in chocolate for my husband on a plate. Nothing was too much trouble.
7,3 Good
Pros: Friendly staff and neat attractive building. Cosy bar. Good facilities. Very good starting point for anyone wanting to explore that part of Wales. Better than many other 3 star hotels we have seen.
Cons: The decor could be freshened up - black doors spoil the rooms.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: how helpfull the staff were at the hotel and how clean and comfy the whole stay was oh and the price was fairly reasonable.
5,3 Okay
Pros: Convenient - comfortable food was very good
Cons: It was explained when we arrived that the television signal was paying up, and that we would have problems with some channels - we were told that an engineer would be putting it right that afternoon but no improvement was seen - we stayed at this hotel approx a year ago and had the same problem, coincidence or not?
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful weekend, the staff were friendly the room was clean and the spa was great.
5,3 Okay
Pros: The Spa facilities
Cons: The decor was shabby and could do with a lick of paint updating
5,6 Okay
Pros: a very pleasant ambience.
Cons: We prefer to have a flexible shower, rather than a fixed showerhead. Coffee was a bit weak. This may seem nit-picking.
6,0 Good
Pros: Excellent location and good food

Overview Reviews
With a stay at manorhaus Llangollen in Llangollen, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Llangollen Bridge and Llangollen Scenic Railway.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room with plenty of space, nice breakfasts and friendly staff.
Cons: As we had motorbikes it was not possible to put the parking voucher on the bikes. Luckily our friend was in a car so we could put all 3 permits on his dashboard and a note on the bike saying this. Andy was really helpful in coming up with a solution for us.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Cosy and cool one bed cottage close to all amenities of Llangollen. Tasteful modern decor. Manager very helpful.
Cons: Llangollen is a bustling town so some road noise can be heard.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely boutique style hotel, with really friendly and helpful manager Alan. The location is great, rooms are well equipped and breakfast really good. Highly recommend & would return
Cons: If I’m being really picky, the room was quite warm at night but a fan is provided in the room
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hotel in a great location
Cons: Nothing
7,9 Good
Pros: Everything was very good, the location is close to the centre and within easy reach of all amenities. The room was spacious and well laid out with a separate area to sit as the bathroom divided the bedroom area from the rest of the room.
7,5 Good
Pros: Nice and clean, friendly staff and comfortable room.
Cons: There is a lingering smell of damp in the staircase area.Whilst I do expect some age related problems of a building this age.Maybe should be investigated.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Bedroom and en-suite very good standard. Helpful owner. Great breakfast. No problem in using the owner's parking permit late into the next afternoon.
Cons: Property is old and a little bit of an odour when entering the front door like damp but not too bad. One big minus was we asked why was the light bulb in the shower not working and the reply was 'I think the bulb is gone' but no attempt to change it that we know of!! Again though this was a minor issue for us.
7,5 Good
Pros: Liked the fact there was a lounge area in the room with good size TV, and walk through wardrobe to bed area. The view from the window was great, looking out over the town to the hills beyond.
Cons: Would not like to stay for a week with the rainfall shower, not ideal to wash long hair. The wet room arrangement seemed messy and having a shower wet a large portion of the room which was small, and made it a bit unpleasant for the next person to use the bathroom. Also not much space for toiletries.
7,5 Good
Pros: The room was lovely location perfect.
Cons: the bathroom was lovely but smelt damp and the floor was sticky and grout needed a very good clean. Someone hair was left in shower and a bit of tissue.
6,3 Good
Pros: Manorhouse Llangollen is a beautiful place that has been decorated with taste and attention. The bathroom was very nice.
Cons: The reception was was very poor and cold. It was almost like the host was in a bad mood or foreign without enough knowledge of the English language. Every word sounded like a command; a very uneasy person. The room obviously had dealt with water damage: stains at the ceiling and in the furniture… Breakfast was lean and not included.

9,6 Excellent
Cons: TV was very small
7,9 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely and the location next to the river is excellent. The restaurant served a good menu and the staff were attentive but not pushy. Would love to stay again but for that town hall clock!
Cons: Unfortunately, the town hall clock chimes the hours all through the night. Not the Royal's fault but not a great night's sleep. Such a shame on our 50th wedding anniversary.
7,9 Good
Pros: Hotel nice room ok staff breakfast great
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Whilst the décor and some of facilities at the hotel are a little dated in places, overall a lovely stay. The staff were very helpful & friendly and the food was nice. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location and the view from the terrace over the river is fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: nothing
Cons: every thing
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and great value.
Cons: The town clock keeping me awake, chiming every hour.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We liked the friendly staff, excellent food, but one of the beds was too soft
Cons: The bed could have had a firmer mattress, and the hourly chiming clock nearby continued right through the night
5,0 Okay
Pros: breakfast was excellent
Cons: Bed was extremely uncomfortable, bathroom not very pleasant and smelt of damp.
7,1 Good
Pros: Very much in need of an upgrade( which is due next year I think) faded carpets, poor shower . Pleasant staff but need more organisation at breakfast time. In the heart of Llangollen the location could not be better
Cons: Cleaning standards could be better, but the age of furnishings don’t help
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly.
Cons: Guests should be advised of the town hall bell so they do not wake up like us thinking it was a fire alarm of some sort. we paid as requested on our day of arrival, however on our check out it appeared that somebody had charged meals from the restuarant to our room - we did not eat at the hotel on either evening but very nearly got charged for somebody elses meals, this system should have tighter control.

Pros: Location - very central.
Cons: Breakfast plates, food, drink needed replenishing faster. No one on reception when checking out. Very noisy location and building....lots of door banging. Hot water took ages to come through and the bath was chipped.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: GREAT Breakfast lovely helpful staf, evening music a bonus .. old fashioned but very comfy.. great big deep bath lots of hot water great stay will stay again when in the area
Cons: car park gets very full when hotel busy
6,3 Good
Pros: Big car park in middle of busy town. Cleanliness of bed linen and towels. Comfort of bed. Location overlooking river Dee. Riverside terrace.
Cons: Very tired and down at heel. Poor furnishings, dirty looking carpets, dated wall paper. No attention to detail ie curtain valences coming away, window open and not closing properly, window latch almost detached and unusable. No gluten free dishes on evening menu or room service menu. Towel heater red hot and not adjustable and therefore dangerous in a small en-suite shower room. Got a burnt arm. Full ash trays, dog ends on the ground, empty glasses and bottles and other litter on the terrace.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and other clients
7,1 Good
Pros: Our bedroom had a fantastic view of the river Dee and the castle
Cons: Pricey
7,9 Good
Pros: good on both counts
Cons: would have liked to leave my car until 4pm max but not allowed
9,6 Excellent
Pros: enjoyed breakfast, loads of choices
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful, our room was clean & a very comfortable bed. Ample parking in comparison to other hotels in Llangollen
Cons: The main downside was a poor shower virtually unusable. Had to have a bath which isn’t what I prefer after a jog before breakfast. Dinner was expensive even with their 15% off therefore we ate elsewhere.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: friendliness of the staff, the location of the hotel, cleanliness of the room. Good Breakfast.
Cons: I don't think it would have suited a disabled person with a wheelchair as no lift access. A lot of stairs and steps. But there again, it is an old building dating in the 1800s if not further. Otherwise excellent.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was absolutely amazing ! We loved the sausages so much we asked for the suppiers which they were happy to give us !
Cons: Unfortunately the windows didn't open (sashes cut) and it was a particularly hot day! Reception did supply us with a fan so that was great !

7,1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast; peaceful; lovely view
Cons: Too hot
5,8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was ok. Room was large.
Cons: Bed hard. No hair dryer. Hot needed a fan. Loud due to campers. I thought it was rural and out of the way but turns out due to the bank holiday they filled the field with tent campers. And they partied with yelling kids till 11p.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Bathroom floor was unpleasantly damp - carpet and May were both damp throughout our stay. Intermittent hot water made showering difficult. One window massively covered in bird poo, so the great views out of the window were obstructed and spoiled. Ended up sleeping with the window closed due to noise from revellers in and around the bar. Decor was tired and dated. Paint peeing off tiles etc. Food at breakfast was good, but some of the plates at the buffet were dirty and not washed properly. Staff didn’t look happy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good beer, lovely bed
Cons: Nothing
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Extremely rude waitress serving breakfast. Bar staff not very friendly. Hygiene not great and the rooms are dated. The hanging baskets were lovely and the chap watering them was very friendly - the only redeeming feature and staff member.
7,9 Good
Pros: Excellent position of hotel, with access to Llangollen (2 miles) and bike rides all round. Good value for money place.
Cons: Beds were very uncomfortable. Had a less than welcoming welcome from the senior lady at reception. Everyone else very nice, helpful and friendly.
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The food the staff the rooms and the price what a rip off
7,1 Good
Pros: The location was good.
Cons: Dining room doors for breakfast were opened nearly 10 mins late, with about 8 of us waiting, and breakfast not served until 9.10am. No apology or 'good morning' from dining room staff member. Although breakfast was good service was grudging.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Four poster bed and the hotels view from our bedroom window
Cons: Too hot in the corridor upstairs as the radiator was on full blast.
4,6 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: I had a very poor night’s sleep. The bed was very uncomfortable due to the fact that the mattress is just foam and very well used.
