Pros: The food was very good. The maitre d’/butler who took care of afternoon tea on Sunday 29th was exceptional as was the lady that looked after our breakfast on our final day
Cons: The welcome was very perfunctory, lacked warmth and no opportunity taken on the long walk to our room to tell us the story about the hotel etc Bar/lounge staff seemed unapproachable and disinterested and somewhat put out when anyone approached them to ask for a drink! Missed opportunities!

Pros: The building it's self was very old, the staff seemed nice.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: It done the job
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the comfort mainly. Complements to the staff who were pleasant and chatty. Cleanliness was top notch
Cons: A bunch of young people booked into the hotel around 10pm on night 2. The were very badly behaved, up and down the corridors shouting to each other between 2 and 5 am, I spoke to them as did your staff. we were all ignored.
6,0 Good
Pros: 1. Clean, absolutely clean. Yes, it's basic but the bathroom was immaculate, not a single trace of black mould or anything like it - even in high starred hotels they can fall down on this but The Royal Hotel (OYO ?) was superb. I even noticed the beautifully ornate radiators in the hall ways were shining without a speck of dust on them. 2. Although the breakfast was an unexpected CONTINENTAL 'buffet', the quality of the food provided was very good. 3. Room radiators weren't working but an excellent electric heater was in the room to use when it got chilly.
Cons: 1.Very steep stairs and no lift (and we were on the 2nd floor!) It needs to be added as a 'note' to let people know in case they may struggle with stairs. 2.Breakfast was listed as a buffet but it needs to also state 'continental' in case you're expecting a cooked buffet! 3.Don't be in a rush... for anything, they're very nice but incredibly laid back. We rang the bell 3 times on arrival, waiting almost 10 minutes. Another guest let us in, in the end and the man on the desk just said he'd been to the toilet (fair enough but it DOES quote 24/7 desk service... we also had to wait a good 5 minutes for a lady to come when we checked out). I waited a long time at the bar to order a sandwich, the young woman was away getting her own soup which she was then eating in between serving. And Sunday breakfast was supposed to start at 0700, things were still being put out at 0720, the toaster was only 'got out' when we asked if there was one (only 2 out of 4 slots worked) and the filtered coffee pot still wasn't ready at 0740. Again the man was very nice but we didn't 'HAVE another 10 minutes!' We were there for an event that had a 'start time!' 4. Could do with an ironing board in the room (and an iron of course, if people don't take their own like I did!)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy and clean
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly reception staff Excellent cooked breakfast (£8.95 extra) Value for money Free parking
Cons: No shower in bathroom
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The parking was good.
Cons: The hotel was awful. It looked as though only the staff had changed since it was visited by royalty! The breakfast was included, but I decided against having it. Whole place needs a complete refurb and update. Cannot comment about the food as I didn't have any.
