Pros: This B & B was so charming! The owner was very nice (we didn't get to meet her husband), the place was so idyllic, surrounded by sheep and cow fields, and the rooms were really comfortable, warm and clean. Also, the breakfasts were delicious!! It was just a shame that we only had one full day there! My husband and I were saying that we'd like to return to the area on our next trip to England and stay longer so we can explore better. And we would definitely stay here again!
Cons: Nothing. The place was great!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very well appointed comfortable room in a lovely high spec homestead in a great location along the Hadrian's Wall route. And fabulous views!!
Cons: A petty thing perhaps but wish places like this, fabulous in all other respects, could serve decent coffee at breakfast! Filter coffee just doesn't do it!!!

Pros: Our host was welcoming and very obliging of all we needed. We had the most wonderful, peaceful night sleep and enjoyed the picture perfect views of the farm from our windows. Everything was perfectly clean and in place, the beds and linen were comfortable and the host takes great pride in the presentation. Breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed our conversations with the host.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The cosiness of the bedroom, the fruity tea bag, the overall cleanliness, the delicious freshly prepared breakfast (had almost forgotten how good fried bred tastes with crispy bacon!), Elizabeth's pleasant, helpful nature, the situation of this charming farmhouse with its extensive views of the surrounding countryside.
Cons: Question not applicable.

Pros: The lady was very friendly
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The cooked breakfast was amazing as were the home made bread and preserves. The location is great for it's proximity to many Northumberland attractions, including Hadrian's Wall, many archeological sites such as Vindolanda, the beautiful city of Durham and its cathedral as well as many fantastic walks.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Elizabeth was a fantastic host! Place was beautiful and clean
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast - lots of homemade treats. Very friendly welcome and a fabulous location - very quiet and great views. Also quite an easy drive to Hexham and the Roman sites. With clear skies, the star display was a real bonus to the family amateur astronomer.
Cons: No complaints.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Nice scenery, good homey breakfast
Cons: Very remote, the room was too small for 4 people, pitch black after 5pm meant that we all had to stay in the room with nothing to do but screen time, which I tried to avoid by coming to a working farm, to keep the kids entertained outdoors. No where to walk or walk the dog unless you take the car. We left after one night instead of staying for the other paid night, got a little refund from the landlady.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast, host and location we're all excellent

7,9 Good
Pros: Room was comfortable, clean, warm against the autumnal weather. We were in the area for a wedding, all of the information we could have needed was in the room (taxi) and Avril our host was happy to help. Breakfast was brilliant, cooked options were delicious, fresh fruit and cereals available too.
Cons: It's in a very remote little area, just a pub and post office up the road, then again I suspect many walkers use the village. The decor was a little dated but perfectly comfortable.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic B&B.. the owner was very accommodating for early cooked breakfast which was amazing. It's a great B&B for walkers. I will go back when in the area next

Pros: Breakfast choices was very good, albeit the toast left a bit to be desired *very dry!) we had one evening meal, and was delicious!, however one might add somewhat pricey? the wines where seriously over priced, hence the one evening meal there. Accommodation, an outside chalet, was exceptional, large 'en suite', roomy and comfortable, under floor heating, lovely!
Cons: As it was a winter type visit, few people about so the 'ambience' was missing, however nice log fire in the bar! As previously stated wine price considerably high! Nothing to do locally? and sadly we had cloudy weather so no stargazing! Beware no fuel stations within 10 miles?

Pros: building
Cons: the restaurant food was disappointing and overpriced. staff multitasking and untrained. £75.00 bottle of wine glugged into a glass and overfilled.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location, History of the hotel, enjoyed morning tour of the castle . We stayed in the castle view rooms excellent.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle in woodland. The whole experience was magical. Excellent food and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was lovely. The castle has such character. Considering as a wedding venue!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: My partner and I were on a tour of Northumberland, Hadrians wall, castles etc so we had to stay in at least one castle and stayed here a couple of nights. It is a great place for a romantic break in a beautiful, quiet setting. Food was excellent, for both breakfast and dinner and restaurant layout gave each table sufficient privacy for a quiet. Only addition I would make to the breakfast menu would be haggis (and maple syrup pancakes for my partner) Nice selection of cocktails on the bar menu as well. Room was very comfortable and just the right temperature. Location was great for us, but it is very isolated so you you cannot nip to the nearest village for a quiet pint. Also, not for the budget conscious. Great stay overall.
Cons: Not a dislike as such, but I would add haggis to the breakfast menu (and maple syrup pancakes for my partner) Just a suggestion.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All staff made you feel very welcome, the bed was very comfortable the room was immaculate and the evening meal and breakfast was exceptional.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Picturesque building in the most beautiful grounds
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the large lounge room with the fireplace. They had it beautifully decorated for Christmas and it was just lovely! We had a room within the castle, which I would definitely recommend over the annex rooms across the grounds. It’s so nice to relax for the evening and have everything at hand. It was one of the more fancy places my husband and I have ever stayed but it was so fun for the night!

Pros: Breakfast was very good. I enjoyed chatting with my host who's seen a bit more of the world than I have. It's a longish walk into Allendale for diner but on a lovely evening it's a nice walk along the river. The owner is rightly proud of her lovely gardens.

Cons: Unfortunately we picked a time to stay when the sauna was been refurbished which did take an edge off for us.

Pros: Location was good. Our room was shabby, and needed a deep clean. Bathroom was uninviting, needs updated. Generally overall the place needs a tidy up, and some investment in decor, and some tlc.

Pros: The pool
Cons: The steps.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the plentiful parking, close to the bedrooms entrance. We liked the young lady on the reception who gave us exact directions the place when we phoned her and supplied us with a hair drier. The evening snacks were huge , tasty portions. Comfortable bed. The swimming pool was fantastic, warm and large.
Cons: The Sauna and hot pool could have been working but the swimming pool was very warm and huge! The rest was good. No problems to our stay.
6,0 Good
Pros: Location very good but the postcode took me away from the Hotel. The location next to the river was excellent. Evening meal and breakfast were goo. Staff excellent.
Cons: The radiator thermostat in my room was faulty; the bathroom was below standard in terms of its upkeep with cistern handle loose and the panel at the back of the toilet bodged after a repair, but it was clean. Also my bedroom was a long way from Reception and the corridor carpets were rather worn.

Pros: Loved the decor and character of the hotel. Breakfast was great and had a good selection of cereal, fruit and yoghurts as well as hot breakfasts on the menu. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. A good selection of real bags etc in the room and complementary toiletries.
Cons: The hotel is on a busy street and heard noise throughout the night from people leaving a nearby nightclub. Hotel was very busy and heard a lot of doors slamming whilst trying to sleep. Obviously the hotel can’t help neither of these things. Hotel has no parking but can park in the Wentworth car park a couple of minutes walk away for free.
