Pros:The car was filthy! Not disinfected at all, not cleaned at all! The car had a thick layer of dust on all surfaces, dog footprints on the the floor covers, chocolate ( we are hoping) on the doors, handprints and just overall dirty...this during raging Covid cases in LA.Cons:Obviously, sticking to the "Hertz Gold Standard of Cleaning" or just cleaning the car as expected.Reviewed Dec 26 2020

HERTZ RENTALPros:I thought it was great financially. We had a great car, it only had 7K miles on it when we got it. The only thing that was a little difficult was the drop-off. We knew we were going after hours to drop off the car but we weren't sure of a few things like what parking spot to put it in, if we needed to take it through a car wash before returning it, if we needed a specific envelope for returning the key... We were just not clear. Otherwise, everything was really great.Reviewed Jun 7 2017

Renting a carPros:Price was reasonable.Cons:Car had mechanical problem. Also a reservation that was suppose to be cancelled and credited was not credited and stayed as pending charge. Customer service when I called to inquire about charges was very rude and didn't want to listen to me and said " I explained everything and there is nothing more to explain" after I stated there was a charge that was suppose to be credited.Reviewed Feb 20 2017

Hertz service just continues to under-deliverPros:Car was fine, that's about it.Cons:Every time I have to deal with Hertz, it seems to get worse. First, it took nearly 45 minutes to pick up my car because the gate agent was incompetent. Then when i returned the car, they tried to charge me more, and when I protested, they said it was because I was an hour late, then they decided that it was because I hadn't returned the car with a full gas tank. When I pointed out to them that I returned it with the same amount of gas that I picked it up with, they admitted they were wrong and reversed the charges. I don't know where they found these people, but I won't be going back.Reviewed Sep 19 2017

Cancelled our Reservation onsite and didn't refund us moneyPros:NothingCons:We were denied our rental because we tried to use a debit card and they ran a credit check (our credit scores aren't great). Which wouldn't have been a problem normally, but it was Sunday just before noon. All the rental car places around us close at noon on Sunday. By the time they told us they couldn't rent to us, everywhere else was closed. It took us 2.5 hours to find a replacement car and we had to uber 20+ miles to go pick it up. Did not get the rental from hertzPros:NoneCons:I pre-booked the car 2 weeks before by paying them. I went on schedule for pickup, they mentioned they don't have cars, will take couple of hours asked to come back. I requested for pick up for the delay, they denied it. I called after couple of hours to pickup car and they mentioned, they don't have cars available and can't guarantee even on next day. My entire holiday plan got disturbed and I need to cancel couple of reservations. It's very bad customer experience I have and my 10 day plan got completely disturbed. Pros:The low price if I could have used the car for the entire time without it having to be brought back.Cons:The difficulty of using a different credit card and being faced with having to find a ride to go pick up my credit card from home. The car had a problem and no one even suggested fixing it. I returned the car due to the problems early. Good thing I found another car.Reviewed Sep 5 2016

Roadtrip went smoothPros:Pick up and drop off was super easy. I got a super comfy and clean SUV for a trip from California to Zion national park in Utah. The sirius satellite radio was convenient for the areas that get no signal. I liked that there was no extra charge for driving to other states and we had unlimited miles. Our car had gotten VERY dusty with dirt from our campsite, but we just gave it a quick was and and vacuum/cleaning inside, so we didn't have to pay any cleaning fees.Reviewed Apr 3 2018

Employee Power TrippingPros:The car was clean.Cons:When I arrived to pick up my rental the Hertz employee informed me that my reservation had been cancelled because I showed up late. I have never had that experience before but she told me I could come back in 30 minutes and see if there would be leftover cars I could rent out. I asked her what would happen if there were no more cars and she said that since my reservation was canceled, there wasn’t anything else she could do. This sounded incredibly fishy to me so I called Hertz corporate customer service and the representative told me that all Hertz employees honors reservations for 24 hours. The representative called the Woodland Hills branch to sort it out and when I walked back to the counter the woman rented me out a car immediately. First of all super shady business, the employee’s lies nearly ruined my long planned road trip. Second she was not even apologetic for delaying my time. I really couldn’t get over the way she straight up lied to my face. Super unprofessional and mean.Reviewed Apr 5 2018
