When reserving a car I pass on all electric vehicles. Chose the Manager's choice thinking I would get a gas vehicle the type model at Hertz's discretion. How wrong was I? They said they selected ban electric car eeven as I passed on all electric vehicles they had offered and at a cheeper price then I was offered on their Manager's,s choice. We never accepted the car and the credit card company refunded all charges associated with Hertz . Be forwarded when renting any car with this companyReviewed Sept 25 2024

The car (VW Taos) was fairly comfortable to ride on the interstate and city, space and adequate gas mileage. Multiple warnings of oil level being too high became concerning but I was too do anything about it. Check in and check out process was normal.Reviewed Jul 8 2024

I had to travel 30 miles to pick up the car. After the $65 cab ride, I got to the Hertz counter to find they close at 2. I then had to travel another 10 miles to a different Hertz. The car was smaller than the SUV I expected and they could do nothing about it. Returning the car was also a total hassle.Reviewed Mar 6 2024

Very good. Except for an annoying indicator that kept flashing on the instrument panel. I wasn't sure if it was a minor or major car issue. I searched for the owner's manual in the glove box to look up what it meant but it was not there. So that was a little frustrating having to drive the rental car for 4 days without knowing if I would encounter a problem on the road.Reviewed Oct 3 2023

I just rented a cargo van so I wasn't expecting too much but they did not clean the vehicle at all before renting it to me. I had to sweep out the back before I could use it and there was fried chicken crumbs on the front seats and floor. Otherwise, check-in and out was fast and easy.Reviewed Jul 6 2021

Pros:The gentleman who rented the car to me (He used to live in El Cajon) was very helpful.Cons:It would be nice to have an hour "grace period" for returns. I really had to rush to make it, get gas and run the car through a washReviewed May 13 2021

Top tips for hiring a car from Hertz in Tucson

  • Something to carefully consider when you book Hertz car rentals in Tucson is the type of car that will fit your needs best. Tucson's proximity to scenic national parks and outdoor attractions makes an SUV a popular choice. It provides extra storage space for outdoor gear and is well suited for trips to Saguaro National Park, Catalina State Park, and more. If you're visiting Tucson for its beautiful weather and want to enjoy the sunshine, consider renting a convertible to explore the city and surrounding areas in style.
  • Hertz provides a loyalty program known as Hertz Gold Plus Rewards, which offers excellent advantages when you book Hertz car rentals in Tucson. Gold Plus Rewards members can experience expedited service at Hertz rental counters, streamlining the process of picking up and returning rental vehicles. Members accumulate points for each qualifying rental, which can be exchanged for complimentary rental days. Your access to a broader range of vehicles, including premium and luxury cars, may vary depending on your membership tier.
  • It's important to keep in mind Hertz's cancellation policy after you book Hertz car rentals in Tucson. If you've made a reservation and opted for the Pay Later option, you can typically cancel the reservation without incurring any fees. However, if you've pre-paid for your reservation, there may be a cancellation fee. The specific fee can vary, but it's typically lower if you cancel well in advance of your scheduled pick-up time. Be aware that cancellation fees are typically higher when you cancel closer to your intended pick-up time. It's advisable to review the cancellation terms and act accordingly based on your travel plans.
  • Depending on when you book Hertz car rentals in Tucson, you should be aware that during major events, such as University of Arizona football games, the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, or the Tucson Rodeo, the traffic around event venues and surrounding areas can be quite busy. In the winter months, Tucson becomes a destination for "snowbirds"—retirees who migrate south to escape cold winters. This influx of seasonal residents can lead to increased traffic on the roads and highways, especially in areas with retirement communities.
  • Intermediate car hire from Hertz in Tucson are around 44% cheaper than other car types, on average.
