10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great as it was easy to get to other places from it. Jenny and Stuart were very friendly and have absolute attention to detail. Breakfast was lovely and you can choose what you want the night before. There is a pub just behind the B&B serving great food in the evening too. I had a side entrance straight to my room and a balcony/terrace to sit on in the evening which was lovely and private. I like baths too after walking and Jenny had also provided foam bath and a bath robe. The place is also a greyhound rescue centre and I hardly ever heard the dogs.
Cons: You have to cross over a dual carriageway to turn into Witherslack from the right. However, after a couple of days I found a tunnel which went under the carriageway which made life a lot easier.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and spacious room, delicious breakfast, friendly greeting, lots of info plus a few extra touches that were much appreciated. A short drive from lake Windermere

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay as the room was very comfortable.
Cons: The accommodation did not offer parking to all guests and this was a worry to me as I have a disabled son and do not have a blue badge for him and had to keep moving the car. I hope I did not get a parking ticket..... as one of the guests said that the parking warden had said that she had booked several cars one morning electronically. I was of course within the parking rules, but this was a stress to me as the information did say that there was parking. Other then that we had a very good trip and felt very welcomed. I would recommend this accommodation.
7,9 Good
Pros: Very comfortable nice place to stay.
Cons: There is no parking on site despite that being advertised in the information. In the end we did find a car park for £1.20 a day but it would be much better to be given this information before booking. And it was was a 5 minute walk away.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Peter and Linda were fantastic hosts. We were able to drop our suitcases off in the morning and were given early access to our room as it was ready. Our room was fantastic, decorated tastefully and with care. Tea and coffee making facilities alongside hot chocolate and fresh biscuits. The WiFi was strong and reliable and at no extra cost. The breakfast was great with lots of choice, from fruit juice, fresh fruit, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and cereals. White and brown toast, and followed by a choice of cooked items. I enjoyed poached egg on toast and my husband the full English, both of which were delicious.
Cons: There weren’t really any negatives.

Pros: The breakfast was very good.

Pros: We liked everything about the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel and also the food was fantastic.

The dinner the previous night was equally delicious and the bar area is lovely with a good choice of spirits. The bedroom was very clean, as was the bathroom (cleaner than another local hotel which is double the price) so overall great vfm, we will definitely revisit!
Cons: Cant think of anything
4,2 Okay
Pros: The location and good looking building from outside
Cons: The reception guy was a very grumpy guy who wasn’t bothered much and took 20 mins for him to come when we pressed the bell to check in. And my kid is very small only drinks milk but they still charged him £12.50 for a very poor breakfast.
7,5 Good

Cons: Very expensive
6,3 Good
Pros: Love the hotel, don’t think the room was as good as we expected considering the price we paid.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Grounds and hotel were lovely. Wonderful location by the river. Lots of nice, cozy spots to sit in a group for drinks or snacks. Kids loved the pool.
Cons: The restaurant serves only casual fare all day. I would rate it a 3/5. Decor of hotel is a bit off, fun but a little cheesy.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Area around the hotel is really nice for walks. Restaurants have vegetarian options too.
Cons: Rooms are bit smaller than what we expected. Also the spa is basic but not bad. We felt it was a bit pricey in comparison to other hotels where we have stayed. Having said that, it could be due to school holiday season.
7,5 Good
Cons: The service at dinner was painfully slow.
7,9 Good
Pros: Sitting outside was lovely !
Cons: Check in and check out always seemed busy . Could do with more staff at the front check-in desk .
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Room was excellent, general facilities and staff also
Cons: The dinner menu was limited if your stay was a few days. Not enough choice for normal types of courses. However the food received was good and served well. Breakfast was in general good also.

Pros: breakfast was average - lack of healthy options
Cons: Lack of healthy food options for all meals

Cons: Dinner was busy and took half an hour, but it was a holiday evening.
4,8 Okay
Pros: Location was good & the staff were friendly.
Cons: The hotel needs a make over. The walls need painting & the whole place needs a jolly good clean. Dirty napkins were used under tables to stop them wobbling & the breakfast menus were sticky.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was exceptional
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The spa was lovely. Good breakfast too
7,9 Good
Pros: Nice clean room, enjoyed the bathroom, staff were pleasant. Picturesque, with the river flowing underneath and the local steam train coming by occasionally. The Anglers Arms (I think it was called) is a good pub within walking distance, and a pub quiz on Monday nights.
Cons: The spa facilities were basic and a bit cramped, with a pool full of screaming kids. The 'hammam' was actually a self-service room which was out of order anyway. Not a very relaxing place.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Shower
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The outdoor seating area was in a beautiful location and was very scenic and tranquil.
Cons: Could be better TV channel options. WiFi could be a bit slow at times.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is great clean and in stunning location
Cons: Waiting staff a little slow in the evening had to ask for dessert menu and bill
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We upgraded to a river view room, the view was absolutely stunning! We would also like to mention the friendliness and service from all of the staff was impeccable!
Cons: We were a little further away from Windermere than we imagined however that is just personal preference and we would not actually class this as a dislike as the hotel and spa themselves were amazing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Evening meal beautifully cooked breakfast very good
Cons: Music in the bar
5,8 Okay
Pros: The restaurant serves lovely food and the staff are generally very pleasant and welcoming. While the location is difficult if you don’t have a car (e.g. getting to and from the nearest train station or town), it’s nice to stroll around the local area and relax.
Cons: Two staff members told us about their colleagues’ poor performance, which I thought was unprofessional. I also found some of the staff to be quite awkward or uncomfortable. Service with a smile would go a long way! I found the room to be tired and dated. There was quite a draft because the windows weren’t double glazed; this must be why there was a storage heater in the wardrobe! The beds were also too soft - not good for the back. I imagine we were staying in the old part of the hotel and the newer part is much nicer.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was enjoyable with a nice array of choices.
Cons: A little more attention to the seating area on the patio area at the river side, ashtray not emptied often, table left in a dirty condition.

Pros: We'd had some qualms about the location, which seemed to be at the end of a semi-industrial area, but when we got there, we found it was a fab spot. Right on the waterside, very peaceful and wonderful views across the water & lots of birdlife to enjoy watching. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We rang to say we might be arriving too late for the restaurant and they offered to make us sandwiches if we were. We were glad we weren't too late though as we had a delicious dinner - really fab meal. The rooms were very attractive - we'd paid extra for sea view and this gave us a balcony too, so we were able to sit there watching the sunset over the water. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and very yummy homemade preserves.
Cons: Our only negative comment was that the dual occupancy room had large twin beds, which didn't leave enough floor space for our luggage to be opened out. (We'd booked 2 rooms, with one couple and one single travelling together: the other room was fab).

Pros: Stunning location, friendly staff providing excellent customer service. Extremely comfortable bedroom/bedding and towels with plenty of tea/coffee making facilities. An amazing breakfast menu Most of it appeared home made and all was delicious and served in the conservatory with stunning views to enjoy.
Cons: Can’t think of anything at all regarding the hotel just shame about the now derelict industrial site you drive past en route to the Inn.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent. Food was so good we decided against a "special" restaurant for our anniversary and ate in the hotel with a view looking over the estuary. Our room had the same view with sliding doors opening onto a patio. Great staff. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone SMILED and took a moment to chat
Cons: Nothing

Pros: We have stayed here before and it is an excellent place to stay on the edge Levens Bay looking towards Morecambe across the bay. The rooms are small but comfortable and having a sea view is a bonus. The food here is excellent and all homemade. We thoroughly recommend having dinner here.

Pros: Disappointed this time, we have stayed at Netherwood many times since we spent our honeymoon there 25 years ago. Staff member Holly was wonderful and professional , location is good..
Cons: Menu no longer changes daily, so there is very little range of choice, limited variations. Room was disappointing when Ihad paid for an upgrade, toilet didn’t flush properly, hot water took ages to come through, shower was terribly noisy and only lukewarm. There was no where to do my hair and makeup, no dressing table,or mirror that was suitable. Spa is not worth £20 each per person, missed having a pool., Staff mostly good, Holly was very professional, check in staff very disinterested when we arrived, check out staff very helpful and chatty, sympathetic to my opinions. It is very obvious that Netherwood is no longer a family owned hotel, lost it’s sparkle unfortunately.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, with great bathroom. I cannot praise the staff enough-they were brilliant A very good price but a quite awful breakfast. I did not realise that breakfast was extra. However. I would not mind if it was O.K. White bread and a toaster and plastic ham and cheese do not make a "continetal breakfast "
Cons: Breakfast-quite dreadful-see my comments above
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing value for money, awesome bath and a great bed. Good beer too
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location, friendly staff, convenient for cartmel races
Cons: Bedroom decor a tad dated
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed, ample car park, location was perfect for my work destination, decent free wifi for streaming
Cons: TV didn't work. There wasn't a bin in the room except for a small flip lid in the bathroom. Only hot water out the tap for kettle. Felt it would have been better value for money if breakfast had been included in the price.

6,7 Good
Pros: Staff could not be more obliging-Room kept clean and beds made up every-day-Food of the highest order with a varied menu .
5,0 Okay
Pros: The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The area was attractive and was close to the motorway . It provided acess to the southern lakes 20mins and the northern lakes 40mins.Internet access was good I would stay there again.
Cons: There were a number of minor and expected problems. The room had a musty smell as did the corridor. The sink in the en suite was cracked but it was perfectly usable and the owner said she was going to address the issue. The main problem was the fact that the Derby Arms is a very popular pub and eating place in the area.Noise levals were high a problem made more difficult by having to have the windows open due to the musty smell and the humidity in the room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff were friendly, very helpful and attentive to our requirements including finding storage inside for 3 bikes. All rooms in the hotel decorated tastefully in very comfortable surroundings. Bedroom and en suite bathroom very good. The hotel provided excellent meals with an exciting menu.
6,7 Good
Pros: We really liked our room -a big and comfortable bed (enough space for 2adults and a moving around baby:-))) lovely, clean bathroom, decor. Staff were really friendly and helpful and they gave us a warm welcome even though we arrived after 23:00. Breakfast was nicely presented and tasted good.
Cons: We could hear a big bang every time someone was trying to shut the door between a little hall leading to the toilets and the pub. It was quite annoying especially in the late evening. When we mentioned it to the hotel staff they promised to rectify the problem.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, clean room, good food. Continental breakfast excellent. Good value for money
Cons:
6,0 Good
Pros: Bed huge and extremely comfortable which I find to be rare when staying away.
Cons: Had booked a room which was advertised as having a roll top bath which sounded lovely but on arrival there was no bath, roll top or otherwise (also no door to separate bathroom). Also some confusion as to cost of room as we had got a price of £65 online but on settling the bill was asked for £85 - not sure how this happened. Food interesting - portions way too big and most dishes seemed to consist of the same ingredients which was rather odd.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We felt very welcome, the staff were great, they could not do enough for us, the room was very nice and homely
Cons: None!!
3,6 Mediocre
Pros: The only good thing about the derby arms the rooms had been recently refurbished so they were clean and modern the food was quite good and plentyfull
Cons: The bar and dinning room were seriously in need of refurbishment their was an old musty smell in parts of the hotel

6,3 Good
Pros: Location to the town was excellent. Receptionist very helpful. Communication emails prior to stay
Cons: Rooms are dated, require redecoration. Bathroom needs refurb, dated and not overly clean, but that is not surface dirt, but built up in the crevices/rims of the shower cubicle. No allocated parking. Pillows flat need replacing, bed seen better days - mattress could feel and hear springs

Pros: Convenient . and. Close to town centre. Pleasant atmosphere, and quiet ! Just what we required . Ideal for short stay.

Pros: The Lonsdale is perfectly situated, only a few yards from pubs, cafés,shops etc. Also there is a carpark directly opposite the hotel. And behind that is another which charges £1 per 24 hours. The breakfast was Continental (7 30-9 30)and was very nice. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and on hand to re stock the breakfast table or provide more tea or coffee.Warm croissants were offered also. There is a beautiful garden at the back of the hotel. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is roomy with a bath with shower. My bed was comfy and I had two good nights sleep. There is a televisión in the room and kettle with coffee, milk and sugar.(I asked for tea bags) The checking in process was simple and all the staff were friendly. Overall the hotel was superbly located, clean and comfortable with parking only yards away and the staff were all friendly.
Cons: Nothing I didn’t like however if rooms are above you you can hear creaking floorboards now and again (I put in ear plugs now and again)and the hotel is a listed building and is a traditional hotel,a lovely building but not a boutique hotel. But nothing that I can say I didn’t like.

Pros: Great friendly staff
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like
5,4 Okay
Pros: The Inn was aptly placed, the bar menu was good and the Superior room bed was comfortable but the tap needs fixing on the sink as it loose.
Cons: The award winning breakfast wasnt available at all. I understood to be paying extra for this but it would have been better to have known beforehand on this website, as I would have chosen an alternative B & B. On our first night we were rudely told at 11.20pm to go to bed by a local. We were all sat in comfy chairs in the empty dining area and not around the bar making any noise. We had spent money at the bar that afternoon and evening eating snacks from the menu etc. There is no iron so beware if needing to use one. We were told it had been stolen by a traveller and wouldnt be replaced. Two payments instead of my last payment was taken out of my account. Be aware that booking.com will take the last payment due and not pay the remainder when you check in. Check your bank balance before you arrive and during your stay. The Inn did apologise and refunded me with no dramas.
7,5 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the pillows fine
Cons: No availability for breakfast, corridors unappealing and rear exit in the morning not impressive at all. Poor TV reception and limited phone access

Cons: The ceiling in our room had a stain where the roof had leaked in the past. We felt it could have been painted as the leak had been fixed.

Pros: Efficient, yet warm, welcome and show to our delightful room [Thirlmere]. The room was spacious and spotless, with a lovely view over Windermere. The gardens were a delight to walk in, with an array of flowers and features. Enjoyed the 'old word' ambiance of the accommodation, although with modern facilities and touches. The evening meal was excellent, with the service being both efficient and friendly.
Cons: Unfortunately had to check out before breakfast [attending an event] and the accommodation this, in the form of providing a little food the previous evening, could have been expediated.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Self Service, food dried out.
Cons: Continual noise in room, assume due to plumbing system, like someone continuing trying to flush a toilet that had not refilled. Asked at Reception if we had to book for dinner, was told no just walk in. Walked in at 7.15pm to be told would have to come back at 8pm as had a large party in. We had to be somewhere by 9pm so declined. Really annoying!
5,4 Okay
Pros: Great location
Cons: Shower in my room and my.mums very difficult to operate and ended up water everywhere.... bathroom was not very clean! Bedrooms smelt musty.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We were well looked after, food was very good both in the restaurant and the bar, rooms were spacious and all the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful, especially the girls in the reception.
Cons: The curtains in the bedroom needed some attention they needed rehanging but otherwise no problems.
7,5 Good
Pros: breakfast was good, staff was nice
Cons: attention to detail could be better, door to the room sticks, hence the door pull to shut it is nearly falling off, bathroom door much worse if you try shutting it in the night you wake up any one else in the room, shower head holder very lose i did not want to adjust it. we had a meal on our first night, not that hot and some of it was very dry as it had been under the heat lamps. hence why we had meals else where. and one day our room had not been seen to
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Free parking, comfortable room (albeit a bit shabby sheek), reasonably quiet, good food at the bar and a very good buffet breakfast. Location is ideal for Lake Windermere and numerous tourist attractions.
