Pros: We were welcomed to Albergaria by Peter and Lucy who promptly got us a glass of wine and iced tea -- while another staff member parked our car for us. Both Peter and Lucy were wonderfully friendly and welcomed us to the property. They showed us on a map exactly where all of the sites were, as well as made reservations for us for dinner (which was a problem since we were there on a Sunday night and many of the local restaurants were closed). They rushed to get us into our room which was lovely. The room was well equipped with all of the comforts of home. We were able to get a light lunch at the hotel bar which was delicious. It looked like they may have also served dinner which I'm sure was equally as good. Peter, who is originally from Virginia and his wife, whom we did not get a chance to meet, have obviously thought of everything that a visitor would want or need. No request is too much and every staff member we encountered went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, and they even offer eggs, pancakes or french toast to order. Hint: French toast is yummy! We had a lovely time in Evora and would not hesitate to come back. Thank you to all of the staff at Albergaria for making our stay so wonderful!

Also, the bed and bath could be updated. The breakfast was good but the coffee not great. Right now the hotel is fine but not a luxury hotel.

Cons: This is not a five star hotel. This was not renovated since the opening 9 years ago. Rooms are damaged, see the photos....currently they are having renovations and this creates a lot of noise, this was not clear when we booked. We had claim for coffee that wasn't it the room and for the pool towels that were also supposed to be in the room. Avoid this place!

Pros: I was a single traveler in double room 3.3. Room is very good size. Excellent location in the main plaza. Desk with chair. Friendly, informative & accommodating staff; I felt like family. Lots of local information. My room had a great view of the medieval Sé Cathedral. Breakfast adequate with drip or espresso coffee. A nice & comfortable all-hours lobby lounge with libations. Easy walk to & from the local bus station. The staff recommended a free evening multi-media live concert of “Omiri” in one of the old town squares that turned out to be the best local cultural experience I attended in all of Portugal during my 4 weeks in Lusitania!!!

Pros: I was a single traveler in double room 3.3. Room is very good size. Excellent location in the main plaza. Desk with chair. Friendly, informative & accommodating staff; I felt like family. Lots of local information. My room had a great view of the medieval Sé Cathedral. Breakfast adequate with drip or espresso coffee. A nice & comfortable all-hours lobby lounge with libations. Easy walk to & from the local bus station. The staff recommended a free evening multi-media live concert of “Omiri” in one of the old town squares that turned out to be the best local cultural experience I attended in all of Portugal during my 4 weeks in Lusitania!!!
Cons: Nothing, really. However, the shower was small, & the room came with a gymnasium-style locker which didn’t have anything flat inside to lay your baggage on. But this was really insignificant compared to all the positives that came with the property. If I’m Évora again, I would stay here without hesitation!

Cons: Toilets clogged, and flooded both bathrooms on our floor. We were told this was the third time this year, and that they will be working on the problem. It is desperately needed, since we did not do anything crazy with the toilet... Historical building, I understand that it happens, and will come here again, once they fix the issue.

Cons: We were not advised that there was an opera outside our window. The reception told us that it would last an hour until 23:00, whereas it lasted until 23:40 and we were also not told that there was a wedding party below our room that lasted until 02:30. We had our little boy with us and it was very difficult to sleep and relax with all the noise. We had a very uncomfortable and stressful stay and we had to drive to Madrid the next day, feeling anything but refreshed. We will not be going back to this hotel nor recommending it to anyone. We also cannot comprehend how we were put in a room adjacent to the opera and wedding party without being told beforehand. All in all I am extremely disappointed.

Cons: Probably difficult to please everyone but my husband and I prefer pillows that are more fluffy, like faux down pillows. These were very thick foam pillows, and did not compress too much, which made it uncomfortable for us. But as i said: everybody is different.

Pros: The location was great. As most visitors arrive outside of the city walls, the hotel being just inside the walls was great - there was no need to lug suitcases through cobblestone streets. Once checked in, it was a much easier walk (without the suitcases) through the cobblestone streets to visit the center of Evora. The hotel itself is basic, but its clean, efficient, and bright. It doesn't have charm, but everything else about it is good, and the price is great.

Cons: Bearing in mind it's a little town flooded with tourists finding parking is not the easiest. The hotel is right in the middle of a pedestrian walkway so you need to roll your luggage about 200m. Plus there's no lift at the hotel.

Cons: Frankly, everything seemed a bit old-fashioned, "tired" and past it's former glory; worn carpet, chipped paint, plastic shower curtain, stained tile, grouting, etc. It's clean and comfortable enough but you just get the feeling it really needs some money spending on it now to bring it up to modern standards. There is no lift either which could be a bit of an issue if you are up on the second floor. The other issue is access/parking. Forget sat-nav! The hotel forget to tell us that the road immediately outside the hotel is blocked off half way down which means you get close but then then have to navigate tiny backstreets to escape. We also chose this hotel as it was one of the few that was central and had parking; however, the truth is they only have 3-4 spaces in the nearby square which all seemed to be full all day/night. Parking overnight is free but then you have to keep feeding the meter. As a separate matter altogether, we found Evora massively overrated.
