5,8 Okay
Cons: My car being vandalized in the same spot another car was vandalized 3 weeks earlier. 2 cameras next to the parking lot and not 1 pointing to where the car was parked. You would think the staff would tweak the camera after the 1st car was vandalized in that spot. And the staff was not helpful about reviewing the camera. We learned about the 1st vandalism from the police who was not happy about the camera issue also.
10,0 Excellent
Cons: Coffee service in restroom n noisy refrigerator
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is within walking distance to the Main Street in eureka. The hotel is newly renovated and the staff here are wonderful! Room is spotless. There’s a Costco right across the street as well as a pool and laundry facilities in the hotel. Breakfast is included and is way above average than your regular continental stuff.
Cons: Nothing.
6,7 Good
Pros: The last night their was no power I think the staff handled it poorly.
Cons: Streets a little seedy.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very good hotel breakfast wasn't bad either
Cons: I thought it was a little expensive for Eureka California but the hotel was filled up plenty of guest were there. It would have been nice if they'll offer guests a bottle of water
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Front desk staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice hotel. Nice amenities. Comfortable bed. Good cable TV.
Cons: Staff demeanor was average. The shower pressure was bad.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: 1. The room was really clean, adequately spacious, and equipped. 2. Pleasant decor. 3. Good location - walking distance stores and restaurants (BevMo, Costco, Walgreens, Adel's, etc.)
Cons: 1. There was not a porcelain cup, glass wine glass or silverware in the place - all styrofoam and plastic. 2. The coffee-maker was placed in the bathroom, which we considered icky. There is enough space in the room to fix a small piece of furniture and put the coffee-maker there. 3. The breakfast, as expected, was not edible for Europeans.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was totally amazing! From checking to check out everything was superb. One of the most traumatic events of my life happened while at the hotel. My purse was stolen from my car while in the parking lot. The management and staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and to reassure me that everything would be okay. The manager automatically gave us extended stay and late check-out. He then review the video cameras to give us as much information as possible the hotel is absolutely gorgeous as well. From what I understand it's the nicest hotel in Eureka! And I believe it. My husband travels for a living and basically lives out of hotels. He agreed that the value for the money was amazing. The breakfast was undeniably delicious to be Continental Hotel Style. Despite the bad things that happened I would most definitely go there again.
Cons: My purse was stolen from our car in the parking lot.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nicest Holiday Inn I ever stayed at!!
7,9 Good
Pros: Cleanliness. Familiarity with holiday inn. Help from front desk staff.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Particularly liked the cleanliness and newness of every detail from quality of sheets to the wallpaper, the small bedside LED reading lights, and added features in bathroom. It was like being in a model home.
Cons: The street entry was clunky.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: I could’ve stayed talking to our host Renée for days! Not only did she provide us with the most exquisite little bungalow to stay in she was a fund of information, fun and insight into a vast array of subjects. Renée had masterminded every aspect of the interior of the bungalow in which we stayed. In fact, bungalow seems such an inadequate word to describe the little haven of luxury which she had created for us. The breakfast which she provided was a true delight. I relished every mouthful and the conversation we had whilst consuming it. Thank you so much Renée for a wonderful experience.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast with warm Dutch pancake right out of the oven delivered to cottage Gardens were great. Very private cute cottage with full kitchen.

Pros: Renee' was a wonderful host. Very accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. Her home is furnished in lovely antiques and very comfortable. We stayed in the upstairs apartment which included a kitchen, eating area, sitting area, separate bedroom and bath. She also has a beautifully landscaped backyard where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine! Her breakfast was delicious which included baked apple pancake, ham and fruit. We will stay again!

Pros: Location is perfect and its very quiet
Cons: No complaints at all.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It had everything we needed for our one night stay in Eureka. We weren’t looking for anything fancy, just clean!
Cons: The pillows were very small and didn’t provide much support. Slept fine, but trying to sit up in bed was impossible.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The cleanliness
Cons: Could have a microwave in the room
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, bed was firm and very comfortable. The sheets look and feel brand new.
Cons: Pillows were too soft for me, but fine for my partner. “Ocean-view” is a bit of a stretch as a description.
7,9 Good
Pros: Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Lacks any breakfast facilities. But go to "Gill's by the bay" for breakfast! You will not be disappointed.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The room is clean and comfortable
Cons: The motel office was messy and unprofessional
10,0 Excellent
Pros: really nice place, everything worked
Cons: na
5,0 Okay
Cons: Getting to off highway. Compared to other places I have stayed during the last 4 weeks it it was very overpriced for the condition and location. Would not recommend.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, staff, and vibe.
Cons: The beds were a bit hard, not unreasonable, just harder than we're used to.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable. Quiet. Nice. Unassuming.
Cons: Walk down memory lane. Love the place and the air in Eureka.
6,3 Good
Pros: Staff was great
Cons: Noise level from the highway was pretty high
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Good location Nice balcony with a view of the bay. Large room with nice bathroom. Beds were comfortable with four pillows each. Staff was very efficient and helpful.
Cons: Like all motels that have carpeting the room had a slight "odor". There were a few stains on the carpet so it didn't look very clean. Suggest installing vinyl plank flooring whenever the carpet needs to be replaced. It's very difficult to see the narrow steep entry driveway especially in the dark. Might be better to give customers directions to the other entry at the back of the motel.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just great here including the limo ride that was totally unexpected but for my granddaughter was a blessing
Cons: not much. had to wipe out the microwave. just an oversite
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
7,1 Good
Pros: The breakfast was ok. The location was good for downtown however a bit noisy from adjacent traffic.
Cons: The toilet was apparently made for children. I did not know a person could buy one that small.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Haven't stayed in a Best Western in over 20 years. This hotel is on par with Mariott, Hilton Garden Inn, and other upper mid-range hotels. Highly rated for the area. Great and pleasant stay!
Cons: Very good stay, nothing not to like.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The pool and hot tub amazing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Facilities were great with a pool, fitness centre and nice terrace for eating. Breakfast was excellent and staff were good. Eureka is well placed for stopovers when travelling between San Francisco and Oregon
Cons: The hotel is situated between two one way Route 1 through routes in town so can be noisy from time to time. Eureka is a town in transition so is not a tourist destination. That said there are some good restaurants near the hotel and a nice boardwalk along the harbour which is not yet complete.
7,1 Good
Pros: The accommodation offered a limousine service which took you into town, note the last ride back is around 10pm. The staff were really helpful and there was a buffet breakfast near the poolside area.
Cons: The rooms were quite dark and the location was a little way from the centre.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: great location and breakfast. walking distance to a vibrant old town and great restaurants
Cons: The bed wasn't very comfortable
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was wonderful, but the dinner menu was limited. It felt more like a dinner that you would get on a cruise. Also, the meat and fish was underdone and after requesting them to cook more, the fish came back seared, but frozen in the middle. Not fresh. The breakfast made up for dinner.
Cons: The restaurant for dinner
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great!
Cons: That my car was ransacked and things stolen. There were homeless lying on the sidewalk in many places.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was clean and had the softest towels.
Cons: To say they are in the historical district is a stretch, I technically it's at the end of it. While the basic room is nice, to get the rooms you see on the webpage thats a upgrade. The included breakfast is eggs and some kind of meat, with a selection of pastry. Anything else is a upgrade, even orange juice. None of the rooms have air conditioning, normally not a issue in Eureka, but we caught a heat wave. This is something to consider when picking a place during the summer months.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our dinner in the hotel restaurant was exceptional....
7,5 Good
Pros: Comfy bed...
Cons: First floor...very noisy outside. People yelling. Also a lot of loud conversation in the next room.
7,9 Good
Pros: The staff were exceptional
Cons: No air conditioning was tough, we were there on hot days and it was miserable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, comfy bed
Cons: Had a problem with man in room next door. Playing music and smoking pot.
5,4 Okay
Cons: We am very displeased with our one night stay. The main reason that will cause us to not stay again is a person. The female blonde manager was so unwelcoming, cold, rude, short and unhelpful that she put a bad taste in my mouth. She had an blank bitchy look on her face as if she was doing you a favor just to acknowledge your presence. The man who worked the evening shift was quite the opposite - gracious, upbeat and welcoming. The female manager should get laid off - or not be allowed any interaction with the guests and he should be the face of the Carter House.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff. Great breakfast. Safe neighborhood.
Cons: My room was very cold - the thermostat wasn’t working. I was offered blankets or a space heater, which is very kind, but I would have preferred a working thermostat. I stayed two nights and was surprised to see that my room wasn’t tidied up after the first night. It wasn’t necessary, but for the price paid, I would have expected that level of service.
7,1 Good
Pros: Clean Nice amenities
Cons: Expensive I think the original Carter House Inn rooms would have been worth the money. This was a very expensive plain room.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was like staying at the hotel in the movie The Shining. Beautiful but a little creepy too. I loved it. We would stay here again.
Cons: I gave this an excellent rating because it would not be fare to rate it anything else. We had no idea we were going to be involved in the power shutoff by PG&E so we had to move around with the flashlight on our cell phone and of course it was cold.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Charming old hotel. The lobby was really pretty and the pairings of all the famous people who stayed there were cool
Cons: The hotel is located in the downtown area and the location left a lot to be desired. They had a beautiful outdoor pool that wasn't heated and was 63 degrees at the end of July. Too cold for us to swim in.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful historic inn; loved the photos and notes about famous guests from the past.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed. Clean room.
Cons: View of roof and heating units. Not much parking in lot close to hotel.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location room staff
Cons: WiFi was spotty and we had to change rooms but the staff was very nice about it. The female bar tender was very cheap with her pour.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic historical hotel! Friendly staff. Very clean. Comfy beds. Nice size room. Very quiet. This hotel was close to Eureka's Old Town and we were able to walk to everything. My wife and I AT NO TIME felt that we were unsafe or worried about where we were. We felt safer here than we do in some 5 star-hotels in San Francisco!! There was absolutely no outside noise, which was great. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The lobby is fantastic with a lot of historical displays. We will stay here again.
Cons: Restaurant, Cafe, and spa were all closed.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast Ok History fascinating Location OK
Cons: Struggled to sleep as noise from adjoining rooms was very noisy.Walls must be paper mache.
6,7 Good
Pros: This old hotel was full of history. Portraits of famous visitors lined the walls. Overstuffed furniture in the lobby spoke if a different era. There was charm to the facilities. A nice change from chain hotels in that way.
Cons: Apparently there is a real “season” for this hotel that ends by the first of September. The pool and sauna were closed as well as the main restaurant. We were there on a Thursday, not the weekend. The restaurant might have been open then. They served a full menu in the bar, but the seating areas were not conducive to eating a full meal. Our room was small but comfortable- but lacked ease in charging phone & computer.
6,3 Good
Pros: Everything was - okay. Just okay.
Cons: For one thing, the hotel bills itself as a renovated luxury Victorian hotel. It's not. The renovations are noticeably inexpensive. The restaurant has been, and continues to be, closed for renovations. Don't expect help with your bags. They also put a $100 hold on your credit card in addition to the room fee - are they expecting me to tear the place apart? There are also prominent signs letting you know you're under surveillance which is a chilling touch. The neighborhood is fine but there are a lot of homeless folks on the streets after dark. I had a terrific dinner at Gabriel's nearby, where the staff was much friendlier than the hotel. If you want a luxurious Victorian experience I suggest the Victorian Inn in Ferndale.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Lulu at reception was so helpful and accommodating. The property was very dated but well maintained. The location is excellent, walking distance to restaurants and downtown.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel has a history and character that is remarkable. Portraits of notable figures who visited this hotel adorn the hallways. It is not modern but it is clean, comfortable and hospitable.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The character of the hotel.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Large size room, very clean
6,7 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Room was clean.
Cons: Staff could be more attentive and helpful. Location of the hotel too far from restaurants.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was courteous and accommodating.,
Cons: The first room we we assigned to was on the street side, it was noisy, and he room had some maintenance issues. We were moved into another room the second night on the bay side at our request and was much better. The pool and hot tub were not available which we did not know about prior to booking our stay. If you went directly onto the Eureka Red Lion web site it did list it, but not on the booking dot com site, so that was a huge disappointment.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The Red Lion was clean, had modern amenities and the room/bed was very comfortable.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Free parking and on Hwy 101
Cons: No toiletries in our room and the noise as we were given a room overlooking the parking lot. Be sure to ask for room facing back side of hotel
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is clean. The room size was great and very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. Comfortable bed. The fitness center is big and fully equipped. All the facilities are as good as described on the website. Really good breakfast (the guy serving it was really helpful and nice).
Cons: The guy at the counter during the check-in was grumpy and really unpleasant.. The location... it felt unsafe.. we did not know much about the city and to us the hotel felt like it was located in a 'bad' district - many thugs wondered around the area and it did not feel safe to leave the hotel in the evening.
5,0 Okay
Cons: the swimming pool was not up and available... two main cable channels were not working and were not connected..... need to have complimentary breakfast in the morning.....
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and clean room Love their eco friendly toiletries Affordable price
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The location and the bar tender who worked Sunday night was very nice.
Cons: The breakfast was mediocre, especially for the price. They were very understaffed and our room did not get made up. The person working the main desk was the only person there. We had to get fresh towels ourselves from downstairs.
7,5 Good
Pros: Good location. Very nice bed.
Cons: Front desk staff callow youths.
7,0 Good
Pros: Room was spacious and clean (except for the bathtub needed to be cleaned); bikes were available to use at the front desk.
Cons: Carpet in stairwell shouldve been replaced at the same time as main hallway carpets. It looks bad. The hotel prices in Eureka are insanely high and I have no idea why.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location and breakfast
Cons: no tv or bathroom in 2nd bedroom. Made it difficult traveling with two couples.
6,0 Good
Cons: hotel greet staff with the neck tatoo was about as unfriendly as you can get...a real turnoff. Main jucuzzi was out of order and had been for a long time. Overpriced.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel had the most friendly and helpful dining room staff of anywhere I've ever stayed - and that includes hundreds of places.
Cons: THe $30 per night pet fee and the intimidating list of pet rules that had to be agreed to and signed.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast is nice (although crowded on the weekend - staff is great but it’s hard for them to keep up) and location for our needs is always good.
Cons: I think we were the only people w/o dogs and rooms smell accordingly. Black mold in shower, sink faucet leaked on counter, carpets dirty, and we had a two bedroom suite that had no TV in the bedroom - deal breaker! No housekeeping even though we inquired.
6,0 Good
Pros: Clean rooms nice staff easy check in

Cons: Our room, room 147, did not have hot water the evening we checked in nor the following morning. I called the front desk that evening, they said they were fixing it, but the water never got hot. I called again in the morning, but nothing.
9,0 Excellent

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was comfortable and very clean.
Cons: It was right next door to a bar. There were a lot of loud people around. I was woken up twice.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location, nice rooms. Parking was very good. Close to bars and restaurants. The desk clerk was very helpful, gave us lots of tips about the area and how best to see the Redwoods.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Could use a few more electrical outlets, maybe by the nightstands where guests charge cell phones & laptops. Coffee maker & microwave needed the same outlet. That said, good cable TV & comfy bed.
7,1 Good
Pros: Location, friendliness of staff, the fact it's built up off the street, there's no one above or below, security cameras everywhere.
Cons: It was a great stay, the room wasn't horrible but they should really clean under the beds, or at least check for stuff. Everything else seemed decently clean. Couldn't sleep with any windows open because it's loud. You have to go down to super 8 for breakfast so we just went somewhere else. It's a great location, within walking distance of many things. The staff was very nice. Jacuzzi tub was okay, the Jets need to be cleaned better around them and once you turn them on its very loud but I didn't mind.
6,7 Good
Pros: Nice people and clean room.
Cons: It was too close to the highway and too noisy. The window opened on an inside area. I guess this is better than the road but still too little fresh air. The breakfast was included but provided in another motel, 3 or 4 hundred meters away. We like to go back to our room after breakfast; this was impractical.
7,9 Good
Pros: It is easy to find. The owner is delightful. And although it is old and a bit shabby it is clean and comfy. Close to everything.
Cons: The location is kind of sketchy. Lots of apparently homeless in this area and walking in the area alone feels uncomfortable but having said that there are some good restaurants and a popular brew pub very close by.

Cons: A few homeless people wandering around daily asking for stuff

Pros: Good location.
Cons: Very old and dated. Rooms need updating.

Pros: This is a dive. I didn't like anything.
Cons: The room walls are paper thin and we heard our next door group all night long. They weren't that load just walls that thin. The room had no air conditioning so we couldn't get any sleep with the noise and the heat. I felt like at any minute our room would get broke into. Trully second worst place I've stayed. Had we been able to find another place in Eureka we would not have stayed here in the first place but we were so tired we couldn't go on and this was the only place we could find with a vacancy.
