Denver is home to one of the most amazing museums, architecture, and historical sites. Just being on the doorsteps of the Rocky Mountains makes touring this great city with a rental luxury car all the more thrilling. Nature lovers can head over to Colorado Springs, which is just a one-hour drive from Denver at the foot of Pikes Peak. And if you still have some mileage on your contract, head down south to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Whether you are coming to Denver for business or leisure, renting a luxury car during your stay is guaranteed to make your trip memorable.
Most Denver car rental agencies are stationed at the Denver International Airport (DEN). Upon arrival at Jeppesen Terminal, you will be greeted by shuttle bus services that will transport you to your preferred luxury car rental agency. Most companies reward their clients with great discounts should they make their bookings several weeks ahead of their trips.
Driving in Denver, like in any other city, comes with its share of challenges. For starters, Colorado is known for its wildlife. As such, you really want to be attentive on the roads where larger animals like deer or elk are crossing. And with so many winding roads through the Rocky Mountain area, it is advisable that you slow down when approaching curves and sharp corners. While driving in downtown Denver, be sure to look out for light rail vehicles that operate in this area. Always check the weather report when starting off your journey to avoid running into hazardous driving conditions. Finally, the law requires every driver in Colorado to have their headlights on between sunset and sunrise.
Denver, like most major cities, has its share of traffic challenges. During weekdays, morning rush hours tend to start at around 6.30 am and can last up to around 9.00 am. Evening rush hour, on the other hand, starts at around 4.30 pm all the way to 6.30 pm. You might want to avoid the route I-25 from the Tech Center leading north to the downtown area as well as I-76 and highway 36 heading south towards the city’s downtown. You can avoid Denver traffic by using toll or express lanes like the E-470 that runs from the metro area’s south edge to the North West edge of the metropolis area. While it will cost you to drive the entire route, the savings in time might be worth it especially if you are in a hurry.

First I was assured there was no real damage and sixt does not nickel and dime customers when I returned my vehicle. I have the agent on video saying this. Them today I get a damage report, and while it's annoying enough having to fill it out, I can't even upload the video because of size limits. When I called to complain about this, after being on hold twice for over 10 minutes, I was told only the damage department can do anything, and they don't open until 10 Eastern time. Why in the world would I want to rent with sixt again if this is how they treat customers, particularly ones who did nothing wrong and didn't damage the vehicle?? Terrible service.

Arrived at the Denver Airport Avis facility at approximately 12:45 am on Saturday October 18, 2025. The line of 50 customers was wrapped around the waiting area (think Disney ride line). Avis had 1 (one) agent on duty. A second Avis representative came out and addressed the crowd of customers by stating “We don’t have any cars but we can rent each of you a 15 passenger van. You can come back tomorrow and try to exchange it if we have any cars by then.” The customers became irate. Many left but many, including me, stayed because there were no other viable options at that time of the day. 2 hrs later I was issued a vehicle. I received an email from someone claiming to be an Avis representative at that facility the night before my rental period was scheduled to end. They asked for photos of the key fob and vehicle information since they didn’t know what vehicle I had been issued. I called the Avis national call center because I suspected that the email was a phishing attempt. The representative recommended that I not respond to the email and that the branch could contact me by phone if they had questions. I returned the vehicle at approximately 4:00 am on Monday October 20, 2025. The parking lot Avis representative scanned the vehicle in and told me that I would receive my receipt by email. I phoned the Avis national call center multiple times after I returned the vehicle and finally received the receipt 6 days after I had returned my vehicle. Interestingly enough, I also received a second email from the branch 6 days after I returned my vehicle asking for the same information about my vehicle. This was the single worst rental experience in more than 40 yrs of renting cars.

1. Terminal to Budget: bus steps too high for older people. Easy to carry a portable step to aid customers. 2. Nobody there to ask rudimentary questions (how to open the lift gate, how to control the mirrors). A lot of guess work & looking in the manual before even leaving the place.

Was not given a full size vehicle despite booking full size. Vehicle had a warning light on after picking up and I was told my only option was to spend 6 hours driving back through Denver traffic to return for a new rental car. New rental car was even smaller than the original car I was provided with. I was also charged a fee for fuel at $8.99 per gallon even though I returned the car full!

Thos company is a bait and switch company. Very displeased. I rented a mid sized suv and paid in full when reserved. When I showed up they said I only paid for a compact suv. No, it was very clear what I rented. I had to pay more than double again to get what I wanted when I picked it up. I paid over 300 dollars when I reserved my car, when I picked it up it was almost another 500 dollars extra. I will never rent from this company again. I will never recommend this company. I got picked up by the Payless shuttle and then dropped off at the Avis counter. The Avis company had a hard time finding my reservation even tho I told them it was for Payless. They finally found the reservation after looking in the Payless system. I had reserved a 2 door like vehicle but they gave me a 4 door Volvo instead. The car turned on and went on my way, but then realized main control screen that did the radio and air conditioner did not work. I pulled over on the highway and watched a video on how to reset the Volvo display system and then it worked. I just won’t use Payless or Avis again.

When I booked this car rental through Kayak, the listing gave me a set price that included unlimited miles, multiple drivers, and my insurance. After waiting nearly two hours in line at the Thrifty counter in Denver, I was told that the listing was incorrect and that I owed twice as much as I'd already paid -- and that if I wanted multiple drivers, it'd cost me much more. I really don't like being lied to, and both Kayak and Thrifty lied to me and gave me terrible service. I'll never use either company again.

When searching for a rental car, I chose your company based on the rate presented to me through KAYAK, as most consumers would. For this trip to the Denver area, KAYAK identified your company as offering the best rate, so I decided to give your company my business. At the time of booking, I paid $263.38, including the insurance coverage presented during the booking process, for my rental during my time in the Denver area. However, when I arrived at the customer service desk, expecting a quick checkout so I could get on my way to my destination, I was charged an additional $900+. When I questioned the additional charges, I was simply told that rental car rates are high. I was also persuaded to purchase the prepaid fuel option because I was told it would be “cheaper” than filling the vehicle at a gas station. Additionally, I was charged $69 for tolls, despite never using toll roads during my trip. This raises a very simple question: Why would a customer search for the best available rate, choose your company over other rental car companies, and then be presented with hundreds of dollars in unexpected additional charges at the counter? The original online booking price is what influenced me to choose your company. Had I known that the $263.38 quoted and paid online would ultimately result in an additional $900+ being charged at the counter, I would have made a completely different rental decision. What is particularly frustrating is that other rental car companies now offer an entirely app-based experience where customers can complete the rental process without going to a customer service counter and being presented with additional charges or optional products that were not clearly understood at the time of the original booking. I would like an itemized explanation of every charge that resulted in the additional $900+, including an explanation of why the $69 toll charge was applied when I did not use toll roads, as well as an explanation of the prepaid fuel charge and why it was represented as the more economical option. I also believe customers should be able to see the true total cost of their rental before arriving at the counter, rather than being attracted by a low advertised rate only to encounter substantially higher charges when they arrive to pick up the vehicle. I chose Routes because of the rate presented to me. Unfortunately, the final cost and the experience at the counter were very different from what I reasonably expected when I made the reservation.

Nice car for value but passenger inside seat was dusty and had dog hair on it. By the time we realized it we had already loaded the back with luggage and 2 kids car seats. Plus, after you stand in line for 25min to get the car, you really don’t want to go back inside and try and get a new car. We asked someone for help and they directed us towards the car wash but we declined. We used his rag to attempt to clean. I later got to our destination and cleaned it myself. Would not rent from here again. Also, they have very small buses to get to the airport. So, you may be waiting for a second bus to come. Would not rent from here again.

Pros: - cheapest option available, and a car is a car Cons: - car itself smelled odd (I suspect cigarette smoke masked by air freshener) and had visible grime in multiple areas of center console: staff advised that the smell was actually the soap they used to clean the car (!). - repeatedly tried to upsell us to a larger car and to charge us extra for a toll pass despite my explaining we didn’t need a larger car or a toll pass - advised we should pay more for a larger car as we were going to “the mountains”, again despite me explaining our trip would be entirely on interstate highways - tried to pre-sell us a tank of gas by stating they were “definitely” cheaper than anywhere in the vicinity. Transpires the gas station literally across the street was 10c/gallon cheaper. Summary: - cheapest option but expect a mediocre / dirty car and aggressive dishonest sales tactics

Well, first let’s not kid ourselves this is Fox Rent a Car. They are not located with the main rental car companies at the complex. Instead they are about a 1/4 mile away in another area. The moment you get there, it’s about the upsell. At checkout, mind you this was pre-paid, he tacked on gas and tolls. I never said I wanted either. So, then there was that. I didn’t pick up the rental. I called customer service for a refund because we got picked by the wrong ride, we had to stand in line for a long time and they asked for $500 security deposit. I canceled the rental and the customer service staff told me to call the company I booked my reservation with. York rental is a big joke!
