Picking up the vehicle went smoothly, and the price was very competitive compared to other options. Our only point of friction is that a witch must have cursed us to always get Jeep Gladiators when we rent cars without specifying a model. We drove around in a big goofy Tonka Truck for the whole holiday, for a second time, to the amusement of all our friends we saw. Who even rents Jeep Gladiators on purpose? We don't know, but when it's an accident, it's always us.

I rented because it was $165.00. After turning back in, I was charged another $200.00 and $53.00. The total was $165.00, so why the extra charges? Kayak is nothing but a big rip off company.

I recommend downloading the Hertz app for mobile check-in. We found the travel to be heavy and lines longer than normal. The app allows the mobile check-in and bypass the lines. The employees were helpful and quick.
I got a nice Subaru Forester for my trip. The price was great.

I reserved a car from Indianapolis to Cincinnati. When I arrived at the Avis kiosk, the lady told me that they don’t honor same day reservations and that she doesn’t have a car for me. This was close to midnight and without the great service from the people at National car rental, I would’ve been stuck in Indianapolis. I understand that it might be challenging for companies to deal with short term reservations - this one was done like 4-5 hrs before pickup - but the way this issue was handled, was extremely poor. Cherry on top was that they told me, that my booking is non-refundable and I had to go out of my way to settle this. Good thing is - I now find a new favorite company to rent from, which is National and one, I’ll never consider again, due to their poor service.
I arrived at Indianapolis Airport, went to pick up the kiosk, and it took a long time to complete the process. That's not the part that disappointed me. I was supposed to have a medium SUV, had none at the moment, and they offered me a 7-passenger van, ABSOLUTELY not. Said would be a few, and that they would have an SUV cleaned and ready. 1st SUV, kicked back, not available due to a safety recall. (Great catch on safety issue) Then offered me a GMC Terrain, ok. Now, to pick up the point, several others awaiting their vehicle waited patiently, but then no Terrain came out. Attendant asks. What am I waiting for?" The GMC Terrain he checked didn't see anything coming, and offered me a GMC Sierra Pickup. I'm fine with that, but I'm not paying extra. This is your issue, not mine. Attendant then said, "Oh, no, you will pay the same price, and I'll take a day rental off your charge. I said OK, got in the vehicle, drove off, and had a wonderful rental and time in Indy. I went to drop off at the end of the visit and was told by the attendant that I would receive an email with the receipt. I am still waiting for the email. Found a copy of the receipt in my Kayak account, and seems no discount was given to me. Very Disappointing.

Upon arrival to pick up my rental car there was only two attendants working at the budget counter with extremely long line. Which I find that very unacceptable. The car had a very nasty smell on the inside It smelled musty like the sunroof had been left open and the car had gotten wet on the inside. It is impossible to get a hold of somebody there at the local budget office at the Indianapolis airport which that is totally frustrating. I love something behind in the car and I have reported it and still have not heard anything back from them. I will not be renting from there again.

Now, in addition to Kayak, Expedia, etc, there are third parties (the two I have experienced were in China and Hong Kong). Is there a benefit to the consumer? NO. All it means is another company to pay and, therefore, higher prices for the consumers. Don't use these. Go directly to the car company.

Rental car advertised as a car like a Toyota RAV4. What we got was a stripped down Chevy small SUV with 20K miles and bad windshield wipers. I didn't see any RAV4s at pickup or drop off. Lots of Kia, Hyundai, and Chevys.

I got to the counter only to find the reservation was booked for the wrong day. The counter agent indicated the reservation would be canceled, but apparently it was not. Later I found a charge ~$330 on my corp card for a car I never rented... I'll be calling Monday to dispute the charge.
I don't like that Dollar agents try real hard to upsale me on insurance and cars. Additionally, I turned my rental in 24 hours early and they charged me for services not rendered.

The car was good and the customer service in the terminal was good. However the exit only had one person staffed and took 30 minutes to exit. They didn't add this onto my rental time, and then billed me an extra hour for returning late.

This was a terrible experience, thrifty charged me for the rental for $1300 that I paid for through kayak and we got that refunded and now after returning the car yesterday I check my account this morning and they have charged me $862.

Not a Damn Thing, I never got my rental car, d/t my booking agent not telling me that I needed a credit card, found out the day I arrived in Indianapolis. The cost of the rental was $422, I have been trying to find out from them why I still had to pay the full price, when I never got the rental, on the contract it states that if I cancelled before 24 hrs it would be $100, & during the 24hr it would be $200, I have yet to receive any answers from them regarding this situation. Mean while I had to rent from another place in the airport which costed me $600, so I could have transportation while there for a wk, trying to take care of my sick son. I also called your agency a few time to speak to someone, there was no help there either. Not Happy at all.

Payless was probably fine. The main problem was they didn’t have a car at all! They also told me they don’t do same day rentals but kayak booked it and aiding had a car. Also there was no one to contact at kayak to tell them this or cancel my reservation. Obviously I didn’t or won’t pay for it.

I was disappointed in almost every respect. a) signage in the car-rental line at IND showed "Avis/Budget" but nothing for Payless, so I walked to the counter. I was (rudely) told "I don't care what the sign says; go get in the line." b) 35 minutes later it's my turn and I explain I've rented an electric car and need to drive 100 miles roundtrip. I don't think I'll be able to charge it. What happens? The answer, best as I could figure it out, was "$70 fee". c) That seemed crazy on a $55 rental, so I asked for a gasoline car instead. After 20 minutes and an upcharge I was sent outside to stall H8 to get my car. It was a windy, cold, wet afternoon and stall H8 was empty. It stayed that way for 20 more minutes! -- So, rude staff; an upcharge; and more than an hour from arriving in the rental hall until being able to drive away. Lousy! I noticed that the Hertz counter had no wait line, and smiling staff. Note to self: next time, spend the money and go with Hertz!!

Absolutely awful. I pre-paid for this car rental and when I arrived to the Payless counter, I was told that no cars were available! Calling Payless customer service was useless. They said that the best they could do is to process a refund... how was that going to help? I was stuck at Indianapolis Airport with no means of getting to my final destination. I will never rent with Payless again.

I was not able to pick up the car due to a long counter line. After waiting in line for more than an hour, I decided to leave the line due to so many still waiting in line ahead of me. Don’t rent cars if you don’t have customer service support.
